Food- I opted out of choosing the buffet (it had an assorted choice of apps and both vegetarian and proteins available- chicken) and ordered off the menu. Lamb Saag is my choice. The lamb was tender and flavorful. The spinach sauce had a pleasant kick to it. The Basmati rice was fluffy and delicious. The naan bread was mouth watering. Service- oriented for buffet style- but accommodating. Ambiance- Decorated in traditional Indian decor. Quantity- plenty of food off of menu. Buffet- speaks for itself. Value for your money- Yes Cost- $23.00 plus $5 tip. Includes entree and naan.

The absolute BEST lunch buffet one will find in ALL of the Birmingham metro area. Rotating selections available during each week. The most friendly and smiling faces you'll see from the moment you open the door and throughout the dining experience. I could live off eating the delicious Naan with the curry options alone or with a meal. The perfect amount of decor to help transport the senses to another part of the World.

Lately, this has been my favorite restaurant in Birmingham! I have only been for the lunch buffet, though. The staff is always very friendly. I think I've tasted almost everything on the menu, and it is all delicious. There is a great selection, and everything is very fresh! My *one* wish would be for them to post the menu each day, or maybe have a set buffet menu for each day of the week. Sometimes I really get my hopes up for a certain dish, only to find it's not on the buffet that day. However, it is hard to be disappointed when everything is so tasty!

First time trying this establishment as I have driven by numerous of times. The place is not big but it have enough seating. I enjoyed the buffet and the selections of food. The customer service was awesome and the staff are really friendly.

Lunch Buffet

Wow! Food was AMAZING. Easily polished off 2 plates and would've happily snacked on another plate. The lunch buffet offers a variety of flavors from very savory to sweet, extra heat or cool down creamy. The staff is so friendly and keep the water and naan bread coming. The restaurant has lots of seating and has a good flow setup with the buffet off to the side. Look forward to going back!

Absolutely a great meal and one of the most friendly and attentive staffs we have ever had. Top notch! Dinner was amazing also! Started with vegetable Pakora, very nice. My wife had the vegetarian Navrattan Korma. She loved it. I had the Chicken Tikka Masala. Full of flavor with a slight residual kick. Great dish. We ended the meal with Gulab Jamun, very sweet but good. Overall a wonderful dinner before the symphony. They will see us again.

Taj India's new location is absolutely gorgeous. What a transformation! Light and bright, the dining areas are spacious and inviting. Expect white tablecloths and friendly folks. The familiar lunch buffet is at the back of the restaurant near the kitchen. If you're unsure of Indian food this is the absolute best way of trying several different things to see what you like. Everything I get is always fresh and delicious, and this visit was no exception. There are even super approachable dishes that feel familiar- like chicken tandoor- so, if you're not the adventurous type you'll still have options.

This place is always so good! The food is full of flavor and comes out steaming hot. The service is always friendly and fast as well, and it is a great place to catch up with friends, or go by yourself and try a new dish! My favorite is their korma dishes. I have had both the lamb and mushroom korma before, and both are delicious.

House Special Thali for 1

Taj India is located in a small shopping center, a hidden away gem. I came here based on the reviews and I can say it did not disappoint at all. I ordered the House Special Thali for 1 that came with an assortment of delicious curries and tandoori. Honestly I would get one of the house specials again so I could try all of the different things. The flavors of the curries were amazing, one of my favorites was the green pea dish, I forget what it was called, but it was the best which I least expected. It does come with a ton of food but a perfect sampling. The bread was so fresh and the bottom was so crispy. It was perfect. We also had the lamb rogan josh, butter chicken, and chicken tikka masala which were again amazing white meat chicken with such a flavorful gravy, the lamb was so tender. Inside the building is very narrow but long, there was a ton of locals there eating and everyone seemed to enjoy their meals, lots of to go ordered were being picked up as well. The service was great, our waiter was very attentive and made sure we had all of our needs met. Next time I am in Birmingham I will definitely be back, it was so delicious!

I went in October 2023 with a friend for Sunday lunch. We did the buffet. Neither of us had very much experience with Indian food. Not really sure what to order and how the spices are incorporated so it was worth it to try the buffet to get to try several different things. It did not disappoint at all. We got to try different meats, beans, sauces, a soup, and a dessert. There is a label above each dish, that let us know what it was so we didn't have to ask. The staff was very kind. The food is heavily seasoned. I like spicy food a lot, so I was a fan of most everything that I tried. It was a good experience, and I highly recommend it.

Butter chicken Garlic naan Saag Paneer

Service was great. The staff was always quick to refill water and check on us. It was so clean and cozy in there! A nice dinner, great setting, and reasonable prices. They served a free "appetizer" that had two dips to try. The saag paneer did not disappoint and the garlic naan was delicious. The butter chicken was a bit soupy but other than that I had a wonderful experience.

We have always been a family of Taj India, but the new place is so much better! Well lit, more spacious, more parking spaces, all around better. Food is the same as before, which is good, and the fresh naan is as amazing as ever! Service is better than before in my opinion as they now have more help due to the larger location. I am a fan and look forward to going again already!

They are consistently good. Their naan is the best ib town. Service is great, with refills that keep up with the spicy dishes.

I've…read morealways enjoyed Indian cuisine, so when I was deciding what to eat for lunch, I decided to give Sitar a try. Their Uber Eats page is well-formatted, with all menu items listed, accompanied by descriptions and pictures of most items. My only issue with their menu on the app is that the descriptions were not very clear about whether an item came with rice or if it had to be ordered on the side. My order arrived quickly and came in a large brown paper bag. I chose the butter chicken, and it came with basmati rice. They were packaged separately, with the chicken and sauce in a large plastic container and the white rice in a small styrofoam box. I like that they separated the two to let the customer have control over the chicken-to-rice ratio. Plastic cutlery was provided as well. My food was still hot when it arrived and was full of flavor. It tasted like a very good homemade meal instead of something made with low-quality ingredients and little effort put into it. The sauce on the chicken was very creamy and absolutely delicious! The serving size left me plenty of leftovers, and I was very satisfied.

Sometimes I'll call ahead and just pick up my food, which makes it really easy between classes or a busy schedule. The restaurant itself has a casual atmosphere, which I enjoy because it feels relaxed and welcoming. The service has always been great whenever I go. The staff is friendly and the food usually comes out very quickly, whether I'm dining in or picking it up. My go to order is the chicken korma with butter naan, and it is honestly one of my favorite meals. The chicken korma is creamy, flavorful, and pairs perfectly with the naan. They also give a very generous portion of rice, which I always appreciate because it makes the meal even more filling! The only small downside is that parking can sometimes be difficult, but I usually end up finding street parking nearby. I recommend this spot for a warm, comfort meal!

My drink order was taken (water) and my server, who answered all of my questions, was very patient and pleasant. For my appetizer, I ordered the spring rolls. They were freshly made and came out hot and crispy. I enjoyed them and would order them again. Now the main course. I opted for the spicy Himalayan chicken, medium heat. I love spicy food, and I thought I was doing the right thing by ordering the medium level. However, it was very spicy! I did notice however, that the longer it sat, the level evened out some. Still, on my next visit, I will try the mild level to compare. The dish was delicious and very flavorful. The white rice added just the right amount of coolness to the chicken and veggies. Upon leaving, I ordered the drunken noodles with chicken in mild. I'm not sure if it's because it's a totally different flavor profile, but the mild has very little spicy. I just can't believe it's that much difference between the mild and medium levels. The drunken noodles were just okay, in my opinion. There was not a lot of juice, spice not flavor in this dish. On my next visit, I will stick with the Himalayan chicken and order it in mild just to test out my theory. The workers were very friendly and came by to check on me and made small talk with all of their customers, including me. I enjoyed my visit and look forward to returning again

Before we even arrived, I pointed out to my husband that I thought the price point was a little high, but maybe the quality of food made up for it. So we arrive and see a long line of folks waiting for their food. We get up to order, and their out of samosa?!? A main staple and you're out after being here for 30 minutes?!? Oh well... we place our order and wait. And wait. And wait some more. And wait a little more. Close to an HOUR of waiting. We finally get our food and head back home. Like I said at the beginning of the review, I was worried about the price, and it def. didn't live up to the quality/quantity. My rice was cold (HOW?!? After waiting an hour), the salad and naan were minimal, and so was the raita. My husband enjoyed the flavor of his chicken and fries, but again I don't think it was worth the cost. The person who gave us our food asked us to let him know how the food was, so here ya go... we won't be coming back.

The main issue was the wait time. We got there about 30 minutes after they arrived, thinking the crowd would have died down by that point. We arrived and saw a huge crowd. I'm not sure why it took that long but that is simply not acceptable. As for the food, I had the waffle curry fries. It had a good amount of heat, and I enjoyed it. But not enough to wait that long again. It's not worth an hour of my time.
