Ordered Paya, Chicken biryani & Butter chicken for kids. Everything was perfect. To be honest, I was surprised by Paya. And ofcourse in a good way. :) [It was really tasty!] Good for families, overall ambience is nice. Thumbs up! read more

For the last 3 years, I have driven from North Raleigh to Cary and back to pick up a beautiful Thanksgiving meal prepared by Yousuf. The Tandoori Turkey is the centerpiece; its bright orange and reddish hue provide a clear signal of spicy yumminess! The accompanying mashed potatoes, rice, corn and vegetable salad--and perfectly baked naan--create an unforgettable feast. Last night's meal was exceptional. I cannot wait to eat the few remaining leftovers! Thanks again, Yousuf. read more

I can't say enough good things about Kababish Cafe. I love the quaint and comfortable ambience of this family owned restaurant (and the outdoor space when the weather is warm). The food is always delicious, so flavorful and fresh. The owners are welcoming, whether we go for takeout or, as tonight, eat in with a larger group, who they graciously accommodated. They are great for a group as they have a lot of variety on the menu and offer vegetarian and gluten free options, and my group enjoyed everything. My personal favorites are the Kachumbar Salad (extremely fresh with a great pop of flavorful spices) and the Haryali Paneer Tikka skewers, but I also have more to explore on the menu. Highly recommend! read more

Had dinner here for the first time last night and let me tell you, don't let the slightly dumpy ambiance influence you before tasting the food! First, it's a small joint which is fine by me. We ordered the Meat Sampler appetizer, Butter Chicken, and Dum Kheema. I would order every single dish again and again! The flavors were all amazing, everything was cooked to perfection and the meats were nice and tender. I was nervous about the lamb in the Meat Sampler because many times I have ordered lamb it's been gamey. Not this one! It was flavorful and tender. Two notes, we did sub out the rice for steamed veggies... Don't do that or just skip it if you don't want to grains. The steamed veggies were overcooked, grayish, and so over peppered that it made your mouth a bit hot. Doesn't influence my opinion though because, let's be honest, I wasn't there for the veggies! Second note, it is byob! They do not serve alcohol which we didn't know but no biggie because we would have lingered chatting and they don't have many tables. Be aware of people coming in waiting for a table since they have to block off every other for Covid social distancing. My husband has been to numerous indian restaurants with coworkers visiting from India and has said this is the best place he has found. Can't wait to go back here! read more

Ordered chicken kebab wrap and spicy Kadai chicken with naan and falooda for dessert. Thoroughly enjoyed the food. Extra spice level was great. The owners and the staff are very friendly and provided really good service. Will be going here again. read more

WATCHING YOUR PRICING!! They give you menus from 2019 the actual pricing is on the QR code Owner argued with us over the fact we only had the menu price. Terrible costumer service!! Customer is always right doesn't apply. read more

Great place for zesty kababs bursting with flavors! Consistently good quality food at this place. We ordered the mixed platters, they came with tandoori chicken cubes on skewers, Malai chicken cubes on skewers, behari chicken cubes on skewers, one chicken kabab(minced chicken with spices and herbs), and lamb kabab (minced lamb with spices and herbs). Each bite of chicken packed a punch of flavor. The Malai kabab were grilled and delivered a creamy texture with the chicken. The behari chicken was incredible! Right level of spice and with the side of mint chutney it was amazing! The tandoori chicken tasted like tandoori chicken, nothing it off the ordinary there. The minced lamb kabab was cooked perfectly with the right charring on it and was moist and flavorful. The minced chicken was equally good and pretty light. We also got two of the chicken sandwiches wrapped in naan- pretty good meal. Good place to frequent and great menu options . read more

Came with my family for an early Saturday dinner and we were seated right away. We ordered: 1. Kababish Shrimp ***** really tender shrimp with a crispy shell 2. chaat Papdi *** too much sauce and chickpeas, not enough of the crispy flakes 3. biryani with goat ***** super flavorful and with tender pieces of goat 4. saag chicken ***** 5. tandoori seafood plate ** this is the worst item here. Maybe seafood is not good for tandoori, they were all really dry Service was good. There were a lot of mosquitoes in the restaurant. I got 4 bites on my arm within minutes of sitting down and slapped one that landed on my hand. For the rest of the meal I fidgeted my limbs the entire time to avoid having another bite and it worked. read more

I love this restaurant! I use to visit their sister restaurant back in the day for a quick bite after my classes at NCSU. The food has a home cooked flavor which sets it apart from its competitors. It also has the cutest decor and is family owned which is so warming. So you might me the dad, wife or son warmly inviting you for very yummie Pakistani meal. I would definitely stop by and take some to go for later read more

This is without a doubt my go-to spot if I'm ever craving Indian or Pakistani food. One of my favorite dishes here is their lamb nihari which has the well-balanced depth of flavors and spices I'm craving in a stew. I've gotten this dish elsewhere, but it never has been as tasty. They are also very consistent, where this dish has not only been delicious every time I've ordered it, but their other dishes, including their chicken karahi are wonderful. Their naan is perfect for being simple and well-cooked - not greasy and full of unnecessary garlic, and their sauces are very good as well. We came on a Saturday night where a live jazz musician had been playing light tunes, which was appreciated. I would highly recommend this restaurant. read more

Honestly, this restaurant makes me want to go back and change all of my Indian restaurant review ratings so this one could stand out as the best food for sure. The location itself is not super fancy or anything, it's definitely homey. The food though, is exceptional. The shrimp app was phenomenal and the tikka chicken masala and garlic naan was outstanding. The owners are super nice and friendly! They want to make your visit personal and inviting. The servers are nice and will always come around asking if you need anything. If you're looking for a laid back, delicious dining experience this place is it. read more

I have eaten at Kababish several times, but I felt like writing another review after eating there last night. First I will say that I have never had a meal from there. The food is good and fresh. I like the menu cause you can get wraps and other things versus traditional Pakistani food. Last night I ordered the Chicken Bihari Kabab which comes with rice, The owners wife suggested instead of white rice switching it to Biryani rice and man that was fantastic. My wife got the Tikka Marsala and she enjoyed it as well. Other than the food the staff seems to want to also educate folks that aren't familiar with what things are. This is great for folks that aren't that savvy with Indian/Paki food. My wife appreciated this as she isn't as familiar as I am with it. All in all it is a nice local family run establishment that I hope is around for a long time. read more

It was overpriced decent food. The one waiter was hustling while this other guy was not doing much. The guy moving quickly was super kind. We didn't get everything we ordered which was a bummer. The chaat was fresh and delicious. read more

This is our go to Indian. There might be better or fancier but they have delivered 100% every time. Why go elsewhere? I'm always a fan of Vindaloo. But everyone's meal is so good. Kababish Cafe is a wonderful family owned restaurant. My family has been going there for years. The food is fresh, flavorful and outstanding!! The owner and his wife are always present and they are friendly. We always order the butter chicken, the lamb and our favorite garlic naan with tamarind chutney. They do not serve alcohol but you are welcome to bring your own bottle of wine or beer. We absolutely love and recommend Kababish Cafe. read more

I have eaten here in the past, I love that it's family owned but the prices are extremely high and the quality of the food has not been very good. I ordered the chicken biryani and it was very dry and the lamb kebab was inedible. The lamb was tough, rubbery and flavorless. I spent almost $50 and barely had a meal that was edible. For the localness and family business, I would go in a pinch but I wouldn't really expect too much by way of the food. read more

I love this place! The food is well worth the wait, price, and customer service especially satisfying. I feel like a regular and the owners always know what I want. I enjoy the atmosphere and supporting local business. I will be back soon and will bring a friend and try something else on the menu! read more

Ambience is good. Waiters are caring. It's a clean restaurant. Half Tandoori chicken is tasty and is enough for both of us. Naan breads are fluffy and very good. But , we are not satisfied with chicken karahi which is filled with equal number of tomatoes and chicken pieces with less portion that made us slightly disappointed. Rasa malai is a filling dessert to finish. Overall , We had mixed feelings when we left this place. read more

The spice level is absolutely perfect! We got "Indian hot" because we usually don't even taste the "hot". And, we were pleasantly surprised! It's actually very spicy and it even made us sniffle as we ate! We ordered the butter chicken (which was super buttery), the chicken tikka masala (which was very tasty and had great flavor), and the goat karachi (which had perfectly cooked goat, but the sauce was meh). We also had garlic and regular naan and they were fresh and delicious! I think the overall ambiance and service can be improved, so I took one star away. The ambiance is a little dark and sort of thrown together. The service was s l o w. Everything had a lag time: greetings, water, drinks, food, check, everything. read more

The food here is pretty good. While it's not my favorite Indian restaurant in the area, it's pretty good. The shahi paneer was great as was the naan. I liked the mango lassi and samosa as well. This is a nice middle ground for my partner and I as they also serve non veg, which he prefers. Staff is super nice. read more

Wow! Amazing Food! This was the most tender lamb that I have ever had, accompanied by authentic chai tea. I could kick myself for not coming here sooner! Would you believe it's on the corner of Chatham and Harrison, right after you cross the amtrack station. I've been crossing that intersection everyday, seeing the brick building, where Cary school of music is,however, not even noticing the hidden gem,in the same place! You will really love it! Especially,If you are vegan, gluten free,or love lamb! This is a very lovely and kind family who make you feel right at home. read more

The food, service and ambiance was excellent! My husband, son and I recommend Kababish cafe without a doubt!

Was in the Cary area and had a test for Indian food and stumbled upon this gem. A nice quaint spot with a great menu. Had their samosas and onion pakora to start and they were excellent, delicious choices. For the entrees, had their chicken tikka masala with garlic nan and the chili chicken with basmati rice. Everything was so savory and delicious! Even had enough leftovers for lunch the following day which is always good! The staff were friendly and the restaurant was nice and clean. read more

Food is good but the disorganized setup is a big turnoff. Some of the prices are deceptive too. Like price of nan is not what's mentioned in the menu, it changes when you buy extra nans with your takeout orders....not clear why. read more

I went there for the first time last night after having heard great things about Kababish from several people. This place is so cute! They have a nice outdoor seating area, but the inside is absolutely magical. Perfect for a date night or a night out with friends, Kababish offers ambiance, DELICIOUS food and great service. The restaurant is family owned, and the owners are so nice and warm! Ok, so, on to the food- very generous servings and beautiful presentation. We had appetizers, chicken tikka masala, saag chicken and two desserts. It was all amazing. The restaurant does not serve alcohol, but it is BYOB, so I brought a bottle of California Pinot Noir, which paired very nicely with the food we ordered. I had leftovers, which I brought home to my husband and he thought it was incredible too. I definitely plan to return, and hope this review entices people to go there. We should all be supporting this wonderful local restaurant especially during these difficult times. I can't wait to go back. read more

Not only was the food good and fresh, the portions were generous, we really appreciated the covid19 safe outside eat options. Tucked away but worth finding it. Casual with charm. Covered tables outside too. The food was absolutely delicious! Sameen was delightful and took time to inquire about what we were looking for and offered suggestions that were spot on. The traditional chicken kabob was so tender it fell off the skewer. Food is prepared with "medium" spice level and it was a a great balance of flavor and heat. You can bring your own beer and wine and they will provide glasses and no corking fee. You must go!! read more

The staff were very kind and the vibe was good so I feel bad writing a negative review. But in terms of the food itself our group was underwhelmed. For the steep prices we expected something better. The flavors of the curries weren't balanced (Ie. Way too salty, or bland flavor, etc). As another example, we ordered a kabab plate for 19 dollars and it was essentially two dry kebabs with some filler rice and and salad. One person from our party ordered biriyani and couldn't finish it because it tasted odd. On top of that, the waiter didn't include one of our orders in the first round so by the time food arrived everyone else had essentially finished eating. Additionally, at least one person from the group said the food upset their stomach. And finally, the bill had a mysterious extra charge for "addons" of 18% of our bill which we interpreted as being tip (in spite of just being a party of five), but it was added to the pretax amount, which meant that we paid tax on our tip. If the food were cheaper I wouldn't bother to write this review but for an average of $33.5 per person we all would expected something consistently better. read more

Prior to going to the restaurant I heard a few contradicting takes on the flavor and food of the restaurant. When you walk in it's what you think of when one says hole in the wall. Thankfully we were served with a hospitable staff and served with comforting and flavorfull food. I honestly can not remember any of the names we ordered as this was a little while ago. But Oh My. Everything we had was very tasty. I have been here once before and I did not have Kababish in good memory so I never intended to go back, but some of our family members really like it so we gave it another shot and we went there with the whole family. We were there with 8 people and everyone ordered something different so we can all share and everything we had that day was delicious!
