We were traveling from Chicago and it's pretty inconvenient to find a place online which specifics it open till 10PM and won't take order at 932PM. Especially this being on Saturday night. I've been to Kababish with my family several times in the past couple of years and it has quickly become one of our favorite restaurants! Everything I've tried has been delicious. I tend to eat very little meat and their veggie appetizer sampler is great to share! I also love the Malai Kofta; I've tried it at other restaurants but this is my favorite by far! My step-father loves the lamb here! What's more the service is always wonderful! The owners are extremely kind and welcoming and the wait staff has always been friendly and helpful! Came here for dinner with a friend. I hadn't eaten Nihari before and it was listed under the Chef's special so we tried that. We tried the samosa as an appetizer, it was good though I didn't try the dip they served with it. Gut feeling said it ain't a match. The Nihari is a gravy dish with Lamb meat and omg so good. It comes with a side of plain naan but we ordered extra garlic naan and tandoori roti. I definitely recommend the Nihari and garlic naan. The gulab jamun at the end was hot ( careful with that first bite ) and soft. The service here is really nice as well, worth the money. read more

I can't decide which was better here, the food or the service. They were both so incredible. I really did love the food and I still think the service wins this one. Our server was so incredibly kind (I think she was the only server this night and she was phenomenal) and the perfect amount of attentive. 10 stars on service. Now onto the food. My friend and I shared everything. We started with samosas (crisp outside with a very delicious sauce). For our entrees, I ordered the Saag Paneer and she had the Mixed Vegetable Paneer. Both come with white rice and we ordered garlic naan to accompany our meal as well. I enjoyed the mixed vegetables, but in my opinion the Saag Paneer was the true star of the meal. I overheard our server (sorry for accidentally eavesdropping!) tell another table that Saag Paneer is "comfort food" and I couldn't agree more. Kababish Cafe has very good quality food and friendly service, so I'm always surprised when the restaurant isn't full. It's kind of hidden on the ground level of a large office building at the corner of Harrison Avenue and Chatham Street in Cary, NC. We often get takeout as well as eating at the restaurant. Super interesting menu with over-the-top flavors that can be mild to spicy, however you want. Sam, the owner and chef, greeted us and took lots of care helping us through the menu. And for me having never eaten Pakistani food, that was a real treat. There are veggie dishes, meat dishes, stews, Rice and many other exotic treats. Fresh ingredients, flavorful on many levels. Kababish: Outstanding service. BYOB option. Outdoor seating (that is, if the tables are more than just decoration). Good food with a farm to table style. The lunch menu has a nice variety, with vegetarian and non-vegetarian options, or, with the adders, a combination of both. Because it's a small shop, they make only a limited amount of some things, and I was willing to wait for the lamb kebabs for another visit. The marinating process just can't be rushed and I didn't want to embarrass someone by grabbing the last of the kebab from the table who ordered before ours. The server, the only one working during our lunch visit, kept busy. Even with all the questions we were asking, she maintained her poise, made frequent trips back to the kitchen to get answers to some questions, and was both apologetic and accommodating when one of our group wanted a "spicy" sauce. It was a goldilocks and the three-bears kind of debate, but we received three different versions each increasingly spicier than the last. It all worked out. The lunch portions were ideally sized -- with probably enough to have a snack later. The naan, the basmati, the paneer, were good, as was the Indian chai served in the large cup. The chicken kebab was a little dry, but seasoned well. Although it is a three and a half star place for me, the service bumps it up. (My lunch companions strongly disagree however, believing the food alone was worth four stars.) Kababish is new, still in the soft opening phase, but with potential to earn the extra star. read more

We were in the mood for a different Indian restaurant so we decided to give this a try. Previous reviews varied so much that it intrigued me. It took me a few minutes to find it. Tho it's right at the intersection, it's down off the road and parking was tricky. We were able to find parking out front but I assume otherwise you'd park in the back near the apartments? We were warmly greeted when we walked into the nearly empty restaurant on a rainy Monday evening. Our server gave us many suggestions when we asked for recommendations. Too many things to try! We decided on some of our Indian favorites tho the kabobs, biryani and other chef's specialties were so tempting. They started us off with complimentary papadam with the accompanying chutneys. Tho slightly oily, the flavor was nice and not overcooked. The saag paneer was delicious and seasoned perfectly. Some restaurants puree the spinach to baby food consistency but this still had some texture to it and the paneer was nicely cooked as well. Chicken Tikka Masala became my friend's new favorite dish and was extremely tasty with many pieces of white meat chicken. Hubby ordered Chicken Vindaloo and missed the traditional bright red color. Lol. The flavor was good but he ordered Indian hot and that was missing despite the chili sauce they served with it. He felt it was too tangy to add to his dish for the heat. Slivers of ginger on top didn't appeal to him but I enjoyed it. We had two orders of naan- one plain and one with cilantro and chilies (the "bullet"). I fell in love with the bullet one. Soooo yummy and a little spicy! A cilantro yogurt was also served with it. Overall, I was feeling at least 4.5 starts but my hubby's issue with his dish leaned us towards the four. Not your usual Indian or Mediterranean restaurant. The food is fresh, the menu is balanced, and the owners are lovely (Sam is especially entertaining). Everything I've had here is just better than other places. Even something as simple as hummus-theirs is light, soft, ultra creamy, and so flavorful. We wanted to order a Christmas takeout meal for my family of 4 with good vegetarian options for me. Luckily Kababish Cafe did not disappoint. The Christmas family meal included a generous amount of rice, naan, chicken kababs, a vegetarian option, and desert. My entire family loved it and we had leftovers for the next day which is always a plus, especially for such a fair priced meal. This place is quite delicious. The owners are always so sweet and kind. My husband and I just fought over whether the owners actually recognize us or if they are so genuinely kind to everyone. We love the falouda and the kababs (mixed kebab platter pictured! It may be a little spicy for some but it was like warm comfort to me on a cold day. It took the cold right out of my bones.) The kebabs are like a burst of tender flavor - salty and spiced on a bed of salad and rice. It's a nice date experience - even on a random Monday. The place is pretty busy for a Monday and the wait staff and owners seem so zen. We love it. I would def order mostly non-veg stuff here because it's the best but they definitely make good vegetarian dishes too. I wanted a decaf hot drink and the owners made me a lemon mint tea (pictured) - he also suggested fresh ginger tea next time. We also ordered paneer pakora and it was super tasty and orange - it's fried cheese, super mild, breaded in chickpea flour that you often dip in mint chutney or tamarind chutney. OMG! This is definitely worth the 4.5 miles from Apex to get here. Other reviewers have more than adequately reviewed this gem so I will not try to compete. We shall return many times for sure. Today we had the seafood in curry lunch special which includes appetizer, dessert, and naan. I had high expectations for this place but was very disappointed. I ordered full Chicken Tandoori, the spice was not right; salt was missing it, seemed to have too much of something and did not taste good at all. The chicken tandoori did look good though. I also ordered a chicken tikka masala which was better. The owner walks around and she seems to pick a few people to talk to but completely avoided us, did not even acknowledge us I thought that was odd. This place fell off our radar, as we are never on this side of town. We happened to drive by recently, and remembered what an incredible experience we had the first time we visited, so we put it on our list of dinner spots to revisit. Fast forward 2 years later, and this place was not what we remembered. We ordered a few of the same dishes from our previous visit, and they just weren't the same. The Nihari Lamb Stew was very bland and underseasoned. It lacked all the great flavor and richness we remembered it having on our previous visit. It was late in the evening, and usually dishes such as this increase with flavor as they simmer throughout the night, but that was not the case here. There was almost no meat in the dish at all, and the gravy was thin and tasteless, almost like they were running low and decided to add some water and starch to the pot to make it stretch further. The naan was thin, dry, and very unappetising. The saving grace was the lamb biryani. The chunks of meat were tender and well seasoned, and the service was just as friendly and attentive as we remember. read more
