The blonde boy working the cafe ruined the whole experience. It was our first time. The kids were excited. The ladies that helped us at the front were very helpful. I forgot her name but it starts with a 'C'. Had no issues with anyone else. The process was pretty smooth and straightforward. Went to order food and the boy working was rude and had an attitude every time I encountered him. First experience was when ordering with him. He got annoyed with us for not hearing him even after I expressed that we cannot hear him well and it doesn't help that the cafe is right next to the track. Second experience was when picking up the food. They need to announce orders on the speaker. Unwarranted attitude. Spoke to a lady and she was equally confused by his demeanor. Terrible customer service.... We waited 20 mins just for someone to check us in Thursday night, some random kid joined our group for some reason which is fine but we then it came for our second dance my whole group had to get out and wait had to wait and watch this kid ride the track solo. Not to add after our 1st race the workers didn't seem to care to give us any type of direction and proceeded to only speak the the solo kids dad.. just ignored my group. When it was finally time to do our second race 2 of the 4 cars didn't work well. This location disappointed me and my family. My 15 year old son and his bestfriend went to your K1 Carlsbad location on Sunday June 29th around 6pm. After their last race another racer went up to my son and said. "Hey, you do that shit one more time and you're outta here you hear me?!" All because in the race my son got ahead of him in a turn. How disgusting that this man would yell at my child because he was being a poor sport. My son felt threatened and did not know what to say or do in that moment. Mind you, the person who yelled at my son was a grown ass man. My sons mom and stepdad were outside with his newborn baby sister while my son and his best friend went inside for a fun time racing but the moment was ruined by another customer who seems to be a regular there. The reason why I know this is that my son said that person seemed to be well known there and was talking with all the employees and they all knew him. Then all the employees just stared at my 15 year old and did nothing to see if he needed help. I feel like my son was targeted, he felt helpless and had no one to help him all the while this Adult was yelling at him. Why? Because my son was beating him in the race or the other man was being a sore loser about losing a lap. This is not ok. Was my son not helped by a team member because he is a young teen of color? Is this a discrimination issue here? I am not happy with how this all panned out and i want to know why your team let this man scream at my child at the entrance. I called K1 Carlsbad yesterday evening and the rep said that the GM by the name of Aaron was not there. He asked me to leave my name and number but honestly I do not want to wait around for a GM to call me. This is unacceptable. The rep couldn't even give me the GM's main line or email address. I don't know how the store manager does not have an email direct phone line especially when it is for a concern. I tried calling the Carlsbad location but can't seem to get through on the phone. I called the corporate number and the receptionist attempted to transfer me to the Carlsbad store with same results, no answer. I look forward to someone reaching back out to me. Such a shame. My son was so excited to race at your location, only to be screamed at by one of your regular customers and with no other employee to help him. He felt intimidated and threatened. Thats very toxic! That should have never happened and someone should have stepped in to protect my child! PARENTS BEWARE! This place has been a family favorite for decades. The facility is great, the cars are newer than other locations and wait times compared to LA are much quicker. It all comes crashing down with the staff and their inability to enforce basic track etiquette. I sense they have almost no power at all... which makes it hard to enforce rules. I was told by a random employee standing next to the supervisor, that our experience was a "roll of the dice" - direct quote, regarding what kind of race you were packaged in. They are apparently only able to warn but not enforce against high speed ramming, which is not what they tell you at the start of the race. If I wanted bumper cars I would spend half of what I spent here at the county fair and leave unharmed. I signed a safety waiver but the staff then needs to do their part to protect their paying customers by upholding the rules of the track. My Fiancée and I were packaged with next year's class of high-school dropouts who might as well have been hurling red shells and banana peels. There were 8 17 year old boys and they could have very easily been packaged on their own but instead, the staff elected to pad their race with us and two unsuspecting other people. The race never even found speed because the majority of its participants were not there to race. The staff was utterly complacent in their efforts at enforcement and subsequently we were battered by the other cars, she was hurt and the race was interrupted multiple times by car failure. When I noticed the next race had six people in it I complained. I was passed from incompetent person to incompetent person until finally they found the biggest guy who worked there and got him to tell me that this was a public place, and that they, the staff, were not empowered to enforce the rules. So despite the fact that as you're getting in the cars they tell you that you'll be ejected from the race for intentional bumping and despite the fact that I've seen them eject people in the past for just that, upholding their own stipulated track rules is no longer their policy. No attempt to put the customer first even crossed these people's minds. Kids are next up for me and they won't grow up with K1. I loved that place... but the product is defined by the people on the ground in each location. Whether staff supervisors have lost sight of the vision, or the jobs are so badly paid that the workers just don't care, the outcome is the same: Race rules are not enforced, so you aren't really racing and you aren't really safe. Fingers crossed Amazon hurry's up with that alternative. Our businesses just can't maintain their quality. Had my graduation party here, and it was pretty decent overall. Food was what you'd expect--mediocre. We did the mini grand prix and on the first race, I got the fastest lap times considering I race pretty often. On the actual race though, I got a really awful kart (not sure why they didn't just do the same karts) and I kept spinning out with the slightest pressure on the brakes. I mentioned it to the staff and they shrugged it off and told me I had to deal with it or that "all karts are basically the same" when they aren't. Frankie was great though. Awesome guy and manager, asked me afterward how everything was and when I mentioned the bad kart, he offered a free race for me next time (still waiting on this though). He made up for the other race staff. Would definitely recommend for a big party though! read more

My daughter was in a go kart collision last Saturday at K1 Speed. Not only did she have to wait several minutes for assistance to get out of the kart, there seemed to be no procedure in place for accidents like this. She has two broken bones and severe lacerations both in her leg and on her finger. There was no one on staff trained to help her, but fortunately there were parents there with medical training. Since the accident, no one from K1 Speed has followed up to see if she is OK. Shame on you, K1 Speed for not having a accident procedure in place or training your staff! It seemed no one on staff that day knew how to help or what to do to help a 12-year-old girl feel safe and to be able to asses the situation and get her medical attention ASAP. read more

I've started participating in GP night again after 10 years and love the changes they have made since the list time I competed. The employees are very friendly and put on a great event. The managers Mike and Sam do a great job at making sure that all of the drivers have a fair shot at taking the win at the end of the night. They go above and beyond by ensuring that the karts used on race night are in peak operating condition. They make sure tires are properly inflated, steering alignment is up to spec with what the drivers are looking for, and that the karts take the track under full charge. If any kart is having problems, they will pull it out of the lineup so no drivers get dealt the short straw. They also do a great job at answering questions and listening to any feedback given by the competitors. If there are any problems, they do their best to make sure they are handled in a quick and professional manner. There's a reason why some racers travel for hours each month just to compete at the Carlsbad location. read more

Not a family friendly place If I could I would give zero stars. This is not a place that is inclusive of all ages or is able to accommodate family activites. We were given giftcards for christmas for our family of 5 to go racing. Due to all locations being so far apart we had to drive 1 hr to the location. When we arrived, there were no racers present so we thought cool we have the place to ourselves. When we checked in we were told because our youngest was below 58 inches that she cant race with us and she had to wait until their Jr race session, which started at 130pm. It was 1130am when we arrived. We were told there is a policy that won't allow Jr racers to race with adults. We asked if there were any other options for our family of 5 to race, we were willing to pay more and book a private session. (2 of the kids are tall enough for adult carts) and 1 child needs Jr. We were told it's a safety issue so our youngest wasn't on the course with adults. As we fully understand safety issue with random strangers, we asked if we could even pay extra so we can have just our family of 5 on the track and the ones in the adult carts could keep pace with the Jr carts. They said no. So now I am stuck with $300 in gift cards that in order to use our family has to have varied time slots that don't coincide with each other and have my 10 yr old race essentially "by herself" while she watches her other siblings and parents race each other. Shame on this place for not being able to accommodate options for family activities even though that is what they advertise. Oh and to top it off the staff were rude and unfriendly in particular one girl at the front basically acted as though she could care less that we could race as a family. read more

Gosh, where do I begin. First make sure you call ahead. They don't communicate that a party may have a couple hours reserved so if you show up, you will be told you can't race for another 2-3 hours. Second, we went this last Wednesday night which turned out to be very disappointing. We started racing around 8:30ish after arriving at 6:20. Our first race was ok and fairly fun. The second race is when things went down hill and was disappointing. At the beginning of the second race a young guy came running up with his own helmet to join the race last minute. Based on his interaction with the staff they very clearly knew each other. Once the race started, the guy holding the remote slowed down all other drivers to allow this last minute entry to fly ahead of everyone. You're going to tell me this is a safety issue right out the gate? Mmmmm.... I don't think so. As the race progressed the last minute entry cart fell behind my husband and son so the guy holding the remote slowed down their go-carts to allow this guy to take the lead. This happened the whole race! At the conclusion of the race my husband exited his go cart and asked the staff with the remote why he was slowing them down. He laughed and replied "I don't know what you mean". I sent an email hoping to reach corporate but the manager of this location contacted me instead stating he was present for it. There's a reason I didn't want to speak to anyone at that location. All the manager did was argue and justify his decision to slow down our carts. He stated he slows people down often to make the track safer for the faster driver. How is that fair! You're cheating other drivers of the full experience. How about you slow the faster driver to make it safe for everyone while honoring your own rules and regulations. Needless to say the manager, Jonathon, was irritated and argued. I told him to please reply to my email with his manager info and he agreed but added "oh yeah I will, I'll put my name, position, contact info, and my side of what happened" so I said "great, Thankyou" but he has yet to do so. It's been plenty of time for Jonathon the manager of Carlsbad to email me back. He still hasn't responded but neither has corporate. If this is the way they do business, heaven forbid someone actually gets hurt. NEVER RETURNING! read more

TLDR: Go to Boomer's Vista instead, unless you are trying to go pro. I am always so excited to go go-karting. But I am always left disappointed at K1Speed. If you are trying to go pro or you like being bumped, this is a great place. But if you are just looking to have fun go to Boomers Vista instead. Boomers is half the price for unlimited rides and also includes mini golf, laser tag and bumper boats. Every time I have been to K1 (4 times) I have been repeatedly bumped by strangers. The staff do not enforce the no bumping rule on some people. The last time I went I was (obviously) bumped repeatedly and I looked up the name of the driver, that kept bumping me and everyone else on the track, on my race sheet. Turns out the driver was ranked number 1 at that location. So as long as you pour enough money into the location they will look the other way when you bump people. The staff did not once holler at their regular. I went to Boomer's in Vista for the first time today and it was everything I always expected K1Speed to be: Fun. I didn't get bumped once, I had fun. I passed people. I let some people pass me. K1 Speed is for hyper competitive people not looking to have fun. If you are thinking of doing a birthday party the only way I would consider K1 is if you are sure you will fill all the cars on the track. Otherwise you'll just have upset kids with headaches and whiplash. read more

I had booked my daughters 13th Birthday here and it was simply amazing. Frankie, the manager provides superior customer service and was beyond helpful from the booking of the party to the end. He is super energetic, well organized, and easy to communicate with. Due to their detail and organization our party flowed seamlessly and all the girls had a blast. They said it was the best birthday they have ever been to. They complimented the pizza served by K1, the award ceremony from the final race was hilarious and entertaining. The arcade there doesn't cheat. My little ones won way too many squishys and it was overall an AMAZING EXPERIENCE. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for an easy, simple birthday party. Stopped by with my son for some after school fun. This was our first visit. The registration process wasn't too bad and there was no one really there. Once registered it was time for him to pick a helmet and jump in a cart. The carts actually go pretty fast. This is not your Family Fun Center go carts here nope, these bad boys goooooo. Overall was a fun experience. The price during mid day is extremely reasonable. You can purchase snacks and drinks as well. Not sure what the crowd looks like on the weekends but I hear it can get a little busy. Not sure the next Mario Andretti is living under my roof but hey he had fun and that's what we came for! read more

This place is good although I just went there with my friend and it was not very good. I bought 3 races and here are my results. Race 1: every thing worked fine, brakes worked, wheel wasn't jumpy. Race 2: the brakes didn't work and the staff didn't seem to care about it. Race 3: the wheel was to jumpy, I barely put any strength to turn and I spun out 3 times. Overall, pretty nice place, but bad staff. And one more thing, they don't care about your safety. For example, I asked them to check my seatbelt and they said it was good enough, but that was the same race I spun out, I was in pain because I kept skidding in and out of the seatbelt. read more

Never again. Place is ran poorly by teenage staffers, who have horrible manners in front of the children. K1 employees refused to give other K1 employees name even though employee had a name tag on. After employee went in back area for being out of line with customers and all the K1 employees were horrible after I mentioned the issue. So here I am, been going to K1 for over 15 years....K1 is very unprofessionally ran now days and that's scary when you think of the level of responsibility K1 has. If I could leave no stars I would first of all I pre-registered for my daughter's birthday she was supposed to receive one free race. when I got there they told me that she could not receive her free race on her birthday even though I had a coupon that stated it the manager came over and told me she will let me use it this one time but from now on there will be no more free races on her birthday I guess we will not be returning so it doesn't really matter. The biggest problem I had was when we went there we were paying to do 12 laps each child did 6 to 8 laps at the most and then it was called over to the side we feel ripped off would like our money back I have tried to contact them no answer how convenient they were racing with an employee who got to do 12 laps when he was done the race was over he did them extremely fast you can see in the picture what a poorly run business I am very disappointed I will not be returning for any birthday parties read more
