great location with underground parking. The staff is friendly. The rooms are a bit small, but still enjoyable. We recommend this place."

We picked this place since we didn't want to be thrown in a room with strangers. We tried The Relic and did not ask for enough clues. Then we got lost in a complex cypher puzzle when we ran out of time. Luckily, we took them up on their discount for a follow up game. We did The Enchantment and we had a BLAST. Mathew was our game master and gave us a few great clues. We made it out. We will go back the next time I am visiting San Diego. read more

We came here for the first time a few weeks ago and had a blast! Unfortunately there was a small misunderstanding about group size so we had to split our group into two, but no big deal. Staff is super friendly and very helpful! Our host was so cute and she definitely got us through it! We will definitely be back for more! read more

We really enjoyed our experience at this location! We've done all the ones in fashion valley and found our way to this location. It was different and super fun for a date night. We did two in a row, and enjoyed the room setups. Would definitely recommend! read more

Olivia was super friendly and energetic, we loved her and the relic room. She came in clutch with her hints and made the experience even better! read more

Selena was our game master! We had a blast! Super friendly, and amazing service! We will be coming back!!

I brought five kids between the ages of 7 and 10. We had a blast. I was worried that it might be too advanced for them but with some well timed hints from our guide Christian, the kids were having fun and fully engaged for the hour! We've done a couple of other escape rooms and I have to say that the quality and tech of the room we were in is excellent! read more

Really fun spot for team building or to have a different activity with your friends. Owner is very engaging and involved and greeted our large group at the entrance. We hosted our corporate event there and everyone left very content. Highly recommend! read more

My team had a great time at this escape room. We did not make it out but the employee gave us some extra hints after the time ran out. He also allowed us to finish since we were so close to completion. All the employees here are so welcoming and have a good attitude. Facilities are clean and neat. Bathrooms are nice too. Definitely recommend booking your next event here. We parked on the street right across the building. read more

Jacob was super friendly and accommodating to our group's needs! We had a fun time in the Enchantment room.

So much fun for our family to do an outing together. Just the right amount of difficulty and fun!

**also posted on google and sorry i got the name wrong of the room on google. It is corrected here Christy was super nice! She was funny and engaging. This was a very unique room (Survive - an apocalypse-type adventure). My husband and i arent terrible at escaping but i guess we were having an off day cuz we needed a lot of hints! But we still escaped in the nick of time!! I love Red Door so definitely check them out. Minus one star for some of the clues not being intuitive, but very clean location and bathrooms, plus right in the downtown area so easy to find. Thank you for a fun anniversary! read more

I'm a big fan of Red Room escape rooms! I've done a few at the Fashion Valley location and found out there's one in Encinitas--right near where I live. So excited about that! I've completed three rooms so far, and we recently beat a level eight room. It was such a fun challenge and super rewarding! I've tried the Survivor, Enchanted, and Relic rooms. The Enchanted and Relic rooms are definitely my favorites--creative, immersive, and just the right amount of tricky. Survivor wasn't my top pick, but I still had a blast. The staff is always friendly and helpful, and the experiences are consistently well-designed and fun. Highly recommend booking a session if you're into escape rooms or just looking for a fun activity with friends! read more

Had two groups each doing a room. Both rooms were fun and we had a blast. Preparation of the rooms was great and themes were well done. Highly recommend. read more

So much fun, went for my son's 9th birthday and did the Enchanted Forest. I was initially skeptical how well a group of 9 year olds would do in an escape room, but with the hints they were very successful and had a BLAST. All of them said what a great time they had, everyone working on site was fun and engaging, they were very supportive of a neurodivergent child we had in our group. We wound up booking a family escape room to do the following week because we had such a great time! read more

We had a very unfortunate experience at this location. Specifically with their Lost Treasure room. It's billed as a 6/10 difficulty room, but it's only an "escape room" by the loosest of definitions. It's instead an almost completely digital video game where you steer a submarine and shoot at monsters. Seemed to be a direct rip-off of the game Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime, but with physical controls for the engine and guns. Barely any puzzles, and what few there were extremely basic, a far cry from the 6/10 rating given. To make matters worse, one of the physical components in the room was broken, making it an all around disappointment for everyone involved. Do not do this if you're expecting an escape room. read more

Had a really nice time here with family. The room we were in was a bit smaller and had less going on, but still a really cool atmosphere. Would recommend. Had ages 10 to 30 with us. read more

My friend saw a promo for this new escape room in Encinitas & had to check it out! They have 4 rooms- Enchantment, Survive, The Relic, Lost Treasures. Their rooms are 45 minutes instead of 1 hour. The Relic: The gamemaster was super fun & totally got into the act. We were able to escape with 4 people. The puzzles in the room were cool & fun, but there were a few times where we had to call out for help because we believed we solved the puzzle right, but it was not leading us to anything. Turns out we did solve the puzzle correctly but the magnets or whatever just were not syncing up, like you had to put it in the perfect spot in order to move on. Nonetheless, it was a fun date night activity! read more

Tonight was our first escape room experience we came for our sons 13th birthday This is all we could've asked for and more, family bonding at its best. A challenge, a puzzle, working together for a successful end result and the literal best time. We surprised the kids with this as we'd never done it before and they all couldn't stop talking about how this was the best birthday ever...we agree Definitely check it out it's worth your time read more

We booked a few days before, signed some waivers online. Arrived 15 minutes early. The staff is super friendly. They were very communicative about our wait time. Bathrooms are clean. We had two elementary aged kids who easily participated in the enchanted room. We also had 2 adults and 2 seniors. We didn't escape but had a ton of fun getting to the last puzzle. Highly recommend! read more

We were in the area for a chill beach vacation and decided to look for something different to do for an afternoon. I looked up nearby Escape Rooms and this one looked promising. We did the Enchantment room with 5 of us (two adults, three teenagers). It was a blast! There was enough in the room to do where nobody was idle. The mechanisms all worked great and it was fun to solve the puzzle. The hint system was also really well done. We will definitely be back the next time we're in the area! read more

My daughter and her friends had a blast celebrating her birthday here. Highly recommend and the manager is super nice. Go check it out!

The staff here are fantastic. I really enjoyed our room even though I'm in my 50's and don't play video games so I was clueless on what to do. This frustrated my daughter but we still had a lot of fun. read more

We have done most of the rooms at this location, and every time it has been a great experience. Shout out to Selena for being a great host! Lots of good puzzles in each room and good for the whole family. Would definitely recommend! read more

We did the Relic room and it was pretty good. All the staff we interacted with was very friendly and professional. The game master was helpful and provided clear instructions. The room was organized well and the puzzles were interesting. They were complicated, but not overly complex, except for one. The room itself was a small room. Other escape rooms I've been to have had multiple rooms that you move through as you solve puzzles. It would have been nice if they had a larger or two-room setup. read more

We've gone here a couple times for the survive and relic theme and had Kristy as our game manager and it's been the best!!!! We always have SO MUCH FUN! Kristy made the experience even better for us by giving great clues and even saying bless you when my friend sneezed. One thing that would be cooler is if there were adventures with multiple rooms. But we love it and will keep coming back! read more

Had such a great time at this escape room that we booked again for another room a few days later. Rooms are well constructed and visually appealing. Game play is challenging without feeling impossible. Staff is super kind, friendly and helpful. I was unaware all there rooms at this location were one room only, and initially nervous it would not feel exciting or challenging, this was not the case. The experience was great and I would highly recommend! read more

I am not an escape room person. Christian made it 10/10. He is informative and funny and super friendly. He really made the experience exciting. Front desk was friendly as well and I had a lot of fun. Turns out I am not good at escape rooms but we did make it out with 50 seconds to spare! Thank god for my smart, stealth partners. read more

Had such a great experience at the Encinitas location! I was looking to do something fun for my bday and decided on an escape room. After reaching out to a few places, only 1 place reached back out to me via a phone call. The manager Matt from Red Door reached back out to me and was super helpful and provided some great info and pricing. Me and my fiancé live down the street so we decided to pop in and see if we could check out the place before we booked. The staff Hannah and Matt greeted us and took us back to the rooms and even showed us the control room. It was so cool! The day finally came and me and my group of friends (10 people) split up into 2 rooms and raced to beat each other. The staff was so animated, friendly, and kind! Truly couldn't have picked better people to work there. The few staff members I remember are - Selena and Zoie! We were all so pumped after finishing and can't wait to go back once they open up 2 new rooms! Thanks so much for making my bday weekend so fun Red Door Escape Room! Overall, -Location is great, and not too crowded! It's in downtown Enci and I liked how we didn't have to drive all the way down to downtown SD and hassle through traffic and parking. -Staff was amazing and friendly Pricing was great! -Great for group of friends looking to do something fun and different -Staff was accommodating to large party size and last minute changes with 2 friends not being able to make it! Cons - no more than 6 per room but I could see how having more than 6 would be too many people stirring the pot and trying to solve clues! -pods are on the smaller side from what I've experienced but honestly didn't even need more space because there were a lot of clues and things to play around with and look through! The details and special effects were cool and felt so real!! -a few of us were sweating by the end, some fans or AC would do the trick! Thanks again Red Door Escape Room! This was epic! read more

My family and I just went here for the first time and did the Survive room. While we aren't experts by any means, we've done several escape rooms in various cities, and this was our least favorite. First of all, every room we've ever done has been an hour, but the Red Door rooms only give you 45 minutes. The pricing is pretty standard for escape rooms, but considering that you get less time than in other locations (which means you'll probably lose on the harder games), it feels overpriced. Secondly, we solved the last piece of the main puzzle, but nothing registered. We quadruple-checked the numbers and confirmed they were correct, but the system didn't work, so we lost. We even asked the guy who came in to collect us, and he seemed to confirm the numbers were correct, but then he said "I don't really know; we're pretty busy today," a polite way to kick us out instead of checking to see if the game was even functioning properly. He then told us there were easier room a we could try-- I thought he was offering us a free game for their failings, but it turns out he was just politely telling us that we shouldn't have tried such a difficult room (8/10 rating). When I reflected later, I realized he was basically telling us the room was too hard for us, even though the issues were literally the puzzles not working. He also admitted that one of the first things we had to do didn't work (trying not to give away clues here), after we mentioned it. We had spent some time going back and forth thinking we hadn't done that piece correctly, but come to find out it just didn't work. So that ate up some of our limited time in the room, and the fact that at least two things didn't even work is just unacceptable. Thirdly, like another reviewer mentioned, there are 4 extra puzzles that you can try to solve after solving the main puzzle. The clues for these are confusing when you're trying to solve the main puzzle, and they end up acting like red herrings for your main objective. Next, the room is very small. My husband mentioned that he prefers when there is a second room you have to find entry into-- which has been the case at every other venue we've been to. But not only is there no second room, but the one room you do get is really tiny, which makes it less interesting to explore. The 3 of us were on top of each other at points, so I can image that 6 people would be way too many. Lastly, they started us 10+ min past our appointment time, and when we asked for hints, the person answering us didn't know where we were in the game and what we needed help with (both times we asked). Usually, there is a dedicated person who knows what you need when you ask for a help. Just felt a little understaffed or disorganized. Overall, it was fairly fun, but the room wasn't that well designed and did not function properly, and they don't give you enough time to solve such a complicated puzzle. Well, we actually could have come in right down to the wire if the last piece of the puzzle actually worked. We wouldn't have had enough time to do the extra 4 puzzles, though, but that's ok. Staff is friendly, especially the young woman at the front desk. The rest of the staff members were kind but seemed a little unconfident in their knowledge of the room and pretty frazzled by the need to scurry people in and out. We'll probably go back someday, but this definitely isn't my first choice since the game didn't operate properly. My husband and kiddo feel satisfied that we accomplished our goal, even if the game didn't register it, but it's still kind of annoying, especially when you spend over $100 for 45 minutes and don't get the satisfaction of the room working. read more

Our family tried our first escape room earlier this week at Red Door Encinitas and loved it so much, our son convinced us to go back a couple days later to try another room which we may have loved even more.
