It was challenging but everyone in our group was able to contribute and find clues. We've done all the rooms here. The most recent (CHARLES BROWN CHRISTMAS) is the most adorable theme. It was a really fun & easy one to do with a large group / family (our group had ages 5 - 70) and they even had hot cider inside to enjoy while solving the puzzles. Lots of tech, lots of charm, lots of heart and nostalgia. One of our most memorable holiday themed rooms for sure. We also previously did the Pirates of the Mediterranean + Atlantis Dive to the Forgotten City rooms. Both were challenging and the theme / decor / puzzles were all great. Came here with a friend and was deeply disappointed. We selected the room "Outside In" and multiple things in the room were broken. The game master even had to come into the room many times to fix things, which took us out of the experience. We also were supposed to have a laser field at the end, and the room self solved itself. We asked if they could reset the lasers, but they told us no, as that would require resetting the whole room. The entire reason we had picked that specific room was for the lasers. They did not inform us of the multiple malfunctions in the room, and even after we discovered them they did not offer to compensate us in any way. read more

As with any of our ratings, we work on a 50 point total scale divided into 5 10-point categories. They are as follows. Location (ease of access, near other things) User Friendliness (difficulty, need for hint) Service (helpfulness, hint quality, enthusiasm) Aesthetics (decor, theme, variety) Bang for Buck (was it worth it?) We attempted to escape from the PIRATE themed room. Location: 7 While it is tucked away from the freeway, it is located on a main street and is easy to get to with plenty of parking in the lot. There are some restaurants in the area within half a mile. User Friendliness: 10 This room was fairly difficult at times and made you think outside the box a bit. We definitely got stuck on some parts where some clues were, let's say, in places we wouldn't have thought to look. With a group of 4, we still had 5-6 tasks to get through before time ran out. It's definitely doable, we just didn't get the clues how we think we should have. Service: 7 The lady working was very kind and explained all the rules ahead of time and was thorough. She was very monotone and straight forward, not really hyping up the event. When asked for hints she was very direct but didn't tell us exactly what to do. Aesthetics: 9 The decor, props, and construction of the room was very well done. Nothing seemed to be cheap and it was very well thought out of a plan. Definitely felt like we were "transported" to this situation. Only gripe was felt little small at times. They also have 3-4 other themes. Bang for Buck: 9 The price was reasonable. We played Atlantis and it was supposed to be medium difficulty, but I have done other escape rooms before that were medium and they are not that vague. A crucial puzzle mechanism to winning was broken so we wouldn't have been able to win even if we tried. At the end no pictures or coupons/cute souvenirs were offered whereas other escape room places I've been to do. Not satisfied did not have that much fun. read more

Tenacious D once sang "this is not the greatest song in the world; this is just a tribute." Well, this business must be a tribute to a Top Tier escape room because sheeeeeeesh it does not deliver on the promise in its title. Where to start, where to start? The Atlantis room is two dark subrooms linked together by the world's most obvious "hidden door". This doesn't even count as a spoiler since the track the door's on is clearly visible and it doesn't even line up against the wall correctly. One could be forgiven for missing this, as the flashlights provided range from "dull" to "completely broken." If you're an escape room enthusiast, I know what you're thinking: "wow, that would be an AWFUL place to put an obtuse color-matching puzzle whose colors don't match in the first place!" Ooh, got some bad news! Some text is completely unreadable, having been eroded by years of Atlantean waves--ah, sorry, news flash--it's just a shoddy prop. They should totally lean into the waves thing, though. There is one obvious lock and one obvious key that goes to it. Unfortunately it just...doesn't work sometimes. The employees who are usually eager to bark at you for putting the wrong prop into water offer no assistance if you give up on putting the right key into the right lock. Fun! "Putting the wrong prop into water" isn't a hypothetical, by the way--one of the puzzles literally requires it, but heaven forbid you pick the wrong one or you might further break one of their already-broken pieces of electrical garbage. The puzzles are that infinitely-frustrating kind that require trial and error to read the mind of the puzzle creator--they make sense in hindsight once you've seen the solution but getting there is an exercise in frustration. Emphasis on "exercise", as you'll need to carry a prop between the rooms. Not a *particularly* heavy one, but I'd love to see someone do it using only their pinky finger--a rule this place loves to beat you over the head with. The central conceit of the room is assembling a large prop, but it appears to be missing at least two pieces? You probably won't be as frustrated by this as you should, since completing it means you're free and can now do something more fun, like slamming your hand in a car door. This certainly isn't the worst room I've ever done--here are some good things! 1. A lot of this design was clearly done with good intentions. 2. Every employee we interacted with wasn't bad. 3. Lots of parking! 4. Fun puzzles! (in the waiting room. Not... you know.) 5. They weren't weird. You know, some escape rooms are weird. This one seemed pretty normal. 6. There are other rooms here that sound like they're more of a standard, linear (I guess this is code for "fun") experience. 7. There's a discount for more than 4 players, bringing the price down to a pretty-reasonable $36 per player. 8. Never mind, I just checked my booking to confirm that number and there was a $5.40 booking fee added on top of the advertised price. Lol, lmao, etc. read more

Disappointing Escape Room Experience: Lack of Immersion and Unintuitive Puzzles I'm always hesitant to leave a negative review for an escape room, as I understand the amount of time and effort that goes into creating these experiences. However, I cannot recommend this one when there are numerous other more immersive, engaging, and enjoyable escape rooms in the area. **TL;DR:** Poor immersion, limited and unintuitive puzzles, mostly empty and unused space in the room, and a botched ending by the game master. There were several aspects of the room that felt underwhelming, but the biggest disappointment came at the end of the game. We were on the last puzzle (no spoilers, don't worry), following a series of eight specific steps. After completing only four steps, the congratulations music played, and the game master entered to congratulate us. We hadn't even finished the puzzle, and there were still 10 minutes left - an anticlimactic moment that could have been epic. We only tried the "Undercover" room, so I can't speak for the other rooms. Here's a rundown of our experience: 1. The price was higher than most other locations in the area. A higher price would be justifiable if the experience matched the cost, but based on our rating, it didn't. 2. The immersion was lacking throughout the hour. The game master didn't enter character or create an engaging introduction, which is something I've come to expect from escape rooms. 3. Puzzle design was a major issue. The puzzles were unintuitive, and most of the room was filled with empty space and various objects that served no purpose. These objects didn't feel like red herrings, but rather like the result of an uninspired room design. 4. There were few puzzles that were satisfying or enjoyable to solve. Despite our group having tried 14 different escape rooms, we unanimously agreed that this was our least favorite. On a positive note, the story was interesting and consistent, which initially drew us in. Unfortunately, the execution of the room left much to be desired. EDIT: in response to the owner Firstly, could've cut out the middle few paragraphs and had a very dignified, professional, NOT passive aggressive response. Clarifying the unintuitive puzzles: there werent many puzzles(one of my gripes) so we finished quickly, and although several key puzzles lacked clarity, we were able to brute force trial and error because we've done quite a few escape rooms. Finishing early and finding the puzzles unintuitive is not contradictory, and it shows that my issues with the puzzles wasn't rooted in being a sore loser. It's a little disappointing that the owner didn't even attempt to understand my perspective regarding puzzle improvement. It's hard to describe exactly how the puzzles weren't intuitive without giving them away, but the another big part of my reasoning had to do with all of the extraneous props in the room that didn't serve a purpose. I apologize for thinking the ending was triggered by the game master and placing the blame on them, but now it's even more strange that the ending was solved early. That's a defect in that particular puzzle that it's able to trigger an ending several steps before it should. It was not simply "the final step" or even the second or third to final step. Escaping the room and the ending tends to be the most exciting part of each room! And getting halfway through a puzzle just to hear that you won would be disappointing for most.
