This was my first escape room and it was super fun! We did the Japanese Thriller room and it was definitely spooky! Rob was an awesome host and really seemed like he liked his job. The puzzles were fun and challenging and everyone got very into it. Hoping to do another room soon!

My teen and his buddies had a ridiculously fun time trying to solve clues while getting jump scared every few minutes in the Japanese Thriller Room (which is actually comprised of 3 different rooms, just FYI)! Game master Rob was super helpful and patient, providing hints and even allowing them extra time at the end of the official 60 minute period so they could have the satisfaction of "escaping" after all their hard work. Pro tip: if you're coming before 8 pm, bring change for the parking meters in case the machines aren't properly accepting Apple Pay!

    We did it.

Definitely the best of the best escape rooms in San Diego. We have done six now in total in San Diego and this was the best. Yeah it's a little more pricey but it's also a premium room. The puzzles are well thought out. And the rooms are built with a lot of thought love and even technology. Definitely going back ! Also we did it! 13 minutes on the counter but we did it and with no clues.

Our group were just visiting from Vegas and even months later, we still talk about this experience! My husband and I are seasoned with escape games and we decided to bring some newbie friends with us. When we chose this location, we read the description of the room and had no idea what we were walking into... We experienced the Japanese Horror Room and absolute WOW! The first puzzle was just finding the location upstairs. Once the intro started the word immersive became an understatement. We've had other escape rooms where there's been actors with us and it still doesn't compare to this experience. From the very beginning until the end, the fear factor never dissipated. The instructions were clear enough to anticipate every thing that was happening. For the first few minutes we were solving puzzles, we couldn't stop huddling together and freaking out. The puzzles itself were clever; the deciphering was enjoyable and challenging. I absolutely loved how the Japanese Room is based on a true story. I think that's the biggest factor that creates the ambience of the room. Thank you to our host who really created the atmosphere and tone for everything! You really made our experience! This experience easily became top 1 for my husband and I. It's safe to say this experience is a cult classic for us!

Ask the Community - Escape Game SD

Do you have to stick to the time limit?

yes, once the timer goes off the clue-makers come inside and show you the rest of the escape quizzes you missed.

Will you feel claustrophobic in these escape rooms?

How many people is too many to participate in a game?

Each room has a different number of maximum players. You can come in a bigger group if you want, but you may be separated. Most escape rooms have maximums of around 4-8 players depending on the room. From my experiences, it's generally best to have… Read more

Has anyone used Groupon deals with this place before?

We did last week. Awesome deal.

How scary is the Japanese Thriller Room? I did a scary escape room with 9 other people at this one place and it was pretty creepy especially because I am afraid of the dark and most of the Escape Room was dark. Was it really dark?

It wasn't dark at all. The creepiest/scariest part was the introductory video, but the game itself wasn't scary. You'll be fine!

Does anyone know if there are ever daily deals on the non-horror rooms? Also, would they allow a group of 5 adults and 1 child to do the wizard room? My 11-year-old desperately wants to participate!

There's a 15$ deal on their Facebook page for today!

Our family was super nervous doing the Japanese Thriller, and although scared we got out with 19 minutes to spare.

You can tell they genuinely want you to have a great time. The rooms themselves are incredibly creative and immersive, with puzzles that go far beyond the usual "open another lock" style. They're detailed, clever, and full of surprises. I've done 3 of the 5 rooms so far, and every single group I've gone with has had an absolute blast. Something that really matters to me is having a private room. It makes the entire experience so much more enjoyable and comfortable, whether you're going with family, friends, or coworkers. Some escape rooms try to maximize capacity by filling rooms with as many people as possible, and that often means I don't get a fair chance to participate in the puzzles (which can be frustrating). At Lara's Labyrinth, every room is completely private, so you're never paired with strangers, and your group can fully enjoy the experience together. Whether you're brand new to escape rooms or a seasoned pro, Lara's Labyrinth delivers a fun, memorable experience every time. Highly recommend!

We were a little confused with a couple of the puzzles, but appreciated the helpful clues from Nassir. Having seen the movie (Shawshank) was a bonus. Take you're reading glasses, you'll need them. The lighting in there played tricks on my eyes at times. It was just my husband and I in the room, but we made it out in time! :D Make sure to arrive ahead of time. Although there seemed to be a lot of street parking, we had to circle through a few times to find a spot (10:30ish on a Saturday). Then, when we were leaving, we got stuck in the elevator. Luckily, we made it to the 1st floor (they're on the 3rd) with the doors slightly opened. I pressed the alarm button to get someone's attention. A guy coming in the building pulled the door open for us to get out. :{ So, if you're physically able.......take the stairs.

My boyfriend and I did Deadwood Phobia. I was worried that the game would be too challenging with only two people, but it still worked out. The whole process was very smooth for us. I am someone who loves zombies and horror but gets very easily scared. I was really worried that I would get too freaked out, but I ended up having a lot of fun! It was a little bit of a workout. I was sweating by the end. For parking, I suggest parking by the JC Penny. After checking in on the first floor, the group takes an elevator down the basement where all the game rooms are located. After winding down a long hallway, we reached the Game Show Studio. There are cubbies available to place your belongings but we were able to bring our bags with us inside. We had a party of 11 and we divided into two groups. A group of 14 (to maybe 16) can fit in this room where each person has a buzzer. The experience lasted maybe 45 minutes and it was filled with interactive games. I had a great time because it was only our friend group inside. Our hosts were super fun and engaging! Loved the buzzers, the big wheel, and all the lights and music, it almost felt as if we were actually on a game show. Some hiccups with the plinko chips getting stuck or falling out, but not really a huge deal. Winning and losing teams got to pose for pictures with a large and small trophy, respectively.  Overall, this was a fun experience and highly recommend for anyone who has always wanted to experience being on a game show, without the pressure on actually being on one that will be aired on TV! The option to book private parties makes this a great option for team-building excursions as well.
