They offer a professional, fun experience fit to the level of experience of the student. The trapeze rig is set up in backyard. The equipment and yard are well maintained. When you start they sign you in and give you a safety orientation. While the new students are learning they can watch the experienced students do cool flips and spins in mid air. Soon it's the new students chance to go up. The staff is very supportive and encouraging. Even if you're afraid they take the time to help you and make sure youre as comfortable as can be. Your first swing is crazy fun and exhilarating! But it doesn't have to end there. Through the class you will learn to hang by your knees and how to flip off the bar. I bought a groupon for this and gave it to my son and daughter, both 13. It was a great experience and I recommend it to anyone thinking about it. My son is afraid of heights and they were so kind and patient with him, he was able to get up there and conquer some of his fears and that was really fun to see. The instructors go over some basic moves before each person's turn and the rest of the team guides them and gives instructions. They follow covid protocals and use safety ropes, nets, and harness' My daughter loved it and already booked another session to go back. I would def. My husband & I went to a beginners class this past Saturday, and it was SO FUN! The staff is spectacular, and the other people in the class were really fun & encouraging as well :) The staff took us step-by-step through training for different aspects, it was quick to go from one thing to another, but never so fast that we felt confused or intimidated. They really make it so easy for a beginner to enjoy it. Between the harness, nets, safety lines, and expert staff, we always felt 100% safe & secure. This is an amazing place to learn how to do flying trapeze! I started a a bit over a year ago and have loved every moment of it. Jeremy and Harmony, the owners, are awesome teachers and help each person individually improve their flying skills and they are patient. There also Andrew, Tommy and Leahanna who are great teachers and help you better each swing. I'm scared of heights myself and the platform is just 20ft off the ground which is great compared to some places that have a 30ft platform which is much more daunting. There are two rigs at this place, front and back rigs, as well as several other apparatuses to practice on. They also have a small outside gym to do some small workouts from time to time for seasoned flyers. This is a great way to workout and it has helped me lose 30lbs so far which is my main motive for doing this but also of course to challenge myself. This is a great place to push your limits and breakthrough your limiting fears. This is also a great community of aerialist which support each other. This is a perfect place for a birthday party or for any group function who wants to have fun and push past their comfort zones. I can say that on your first fly you will be doing tricks you wouldn't have imagined you could do and give you the confidence to keep going. I got a class of four as a Christmas present for my family and have to say this was a great gift! The staff are all super friendly. For a normal hour and a half class, you have about 6 times to swing and the last times you learn to grab the other trainer on the other ropes. The location is in a residential area and set up in a large backyard but very easy to get to (also a half off discount if you return after for more classes). Would highly recommend this for families and friends, great for beginners of all ages! read more

I rarely get on Yelp to review stuff, but after taking my daughter to Trapeze High I was motivated to leave a 5 star review. The location seem a little sketchy, just in a random neighborhood backyard, but the equipment appeared to be professional quality. I mean, I don't really know, but from my eyes it all appeared safe and in good condition. I was VERY impressed with the staff. They were friendly, informative, and encouraging. Getting up on a trapeze is not easy! They also took safety extremely seriously. At no point was my daughter not harnessed and clipped on to safety equipment. By the end of the 90 minutes she did a knee-hang and transfer to the instructor. It was breathtaking to watch. If you're at all interested, definitely check it out. read more

I bought a Groupon and it was worth every penny! So much fun, but hands down, one of the scariest things I've ever done in my life, lol. Other reviews mention this, but don't be worried about the fact that it's in someone's backyard in a bit of a remote neighborhood in Escondido. The equipment is legit and very safe, and while the staff can come off as a bit brusque, they absolutely know what they're talking about and are just interested in making sure everyone has a fun and safe experience. The sign-in process was pretty informal, but they had us each sign a release (expected). Dave is your main man (he was dapper in a top hat & blue-tipped long silver hair that day). He got us all suited up with a safety harness, and then ran through the basics. He does go through the instructions pretty quickly, so be sure to pay attention and ask questions if you have them. The class was a mix of regulars (they have different "membership" packages available) and first timers, so it was great to watch the experienced flyers in action. They were also great at giving advice about what to do. Every flyer has to climb up the 20+ foot narrow metal ladder to get to a small platform. The ladder moves a bit, but is secure, and there's a safety hook that attaches to your harness as well. Chris was waiting at the top to unhook me from the ladder line, and reattach me to the actual trapeze safety lines. He was a bit gruff at first too, but not in a mean way at all. Once I admitted I was terrified, he was awesome at talking me through the entire process of what I should do & what to expect. By the 4th time I was up there, we were chatting about random stuff (Downtown Abbey, of all things). Issac was initially working the trapeze wire/line from the ground - this is the line they use to make sure that even if under the very rare occasion when you might let go when you shouldn't, you'll fall into the net slowly and safely. He was super friendly and offered up lots of advice as well. Later on, Dave took over on the line, and Isaac climbed up to be our catcher. My first time up was just to try a basic swing (arch back like a reverse banana, really). Second time up, I tried to get my feet up to hang upside down, but I didn't make it. Third time up, I hung upside down, and tried the back flip, but that didn't work at all, and Issac lowered me down into the net instead. My last/4th time up it was time to try the arm catch. Unfortunately I hesitated a second too long on the platform, and missed grabbing Issac's arms by a few inches. Dave was great though, and talked me through staying on the bar, and trying the back flip again (successfully this time!). The main thing I'd recommend is listen to all of them - they yell, but just so they are sure you hear them when you're up high & in motion. If they say HEP (that means jump), jump. If they tell you to swing your legs one way or the other, do it. And when they say let go, do it. They are watching you in the air, and know exactly the right time to do all of it. Hope to make it back sometime so I can finally do the arm catch! read more

What a great day! The staff is accommodating and so easy to schedule a time. The site is clean and well maintained and the staff was not only eager and able to answer all questions but you can tell that they love what they do. I brought 3 11 year olds to take a class. This was a great experience for the 50th birthday of the paterfamilias. I am going to write this in chronological order. Got on-line, ordered some Trapeze lessons for the spouse and and male progeny unit. Showed up on the day, drove to Escondido. They have some great directions on the website. Print those and ignore the TomTom,VZ Navigator or any other tech tool. The place was unprepossessing. Looks like a backyard with an abstract sense of landscape design. Not to worry, keep moving and you will see the trapeze area that looks very professional. There are still many odds and ends around, but this is not important as you start to talk to the Trapeze trainers and realize that they know their stuff. The trainers were great, fun and funny. Dave has a slightly crusty sense of humor, but is a crackup. There is some yelling as others mentioned, but in order to be heard as you fly through the air, yelling is necessary. The paterfamilias and son had a great time. I declined to attend as the size of my tush to arm ratio indicated that defying the law of physics might cause me to look like the black knight in Monty Python. My only downside was the 115 degree weather. Can't tie that to the trapeze school but I would go there for some fun after the heat has subsided. I would recommend this to anyone who want to have a cool and unusual experience. read more

A friend and I tried taking a class this weekend. As far as I knew, I knew the class would be at someone's residence. Their website had videos and the directions were off the beaten path. Definitely not your top of the line equipment or facility. It was in the owner's backyard. Needless to say, it was safe enough to work with. There were a few children in our class, who were regulars. If it was safe for them, it was safe for me. I enjoyed myself but didn't do well in class. My hands were blistering and gripping was tough. I wasn't offered chalk, tape or gloves so I just kept trying. The teachers have a tough love way of teaching and prefer you to jump right in aggressively. I suppose that isn't my learning style. I fell on my face plenty of times into the net which still hurts! There was minimal practice and they really wanted to keep the ball rolling. Once you completed one trick, it was on to the next. My friend did amazing for her first time and will probably do it again in the future. My blisters tore open so I wasn't able to finish class but overall was a great experience. I can say I did it once. I really faced some fears on this one! read more

Afraid of heights, so much fun, did I just pee myself? Still going from the adrenaline rush! Took a group of gals here for a surprise birthday activity and every single one of them had a BLAST. We had a girly girl, adrenaline junkie, 3 that were afraid of heights and some girls who were afraid they would not have enough upper body strength to trapeze. It IS outdoors and it was unbelievably hot (90 degrees) when we went this past weekend but regardless, everyone was thrilled they came. The location was very hard to find but some of the gals were able to use googlemaps and apple maps to get there. It does feel a bit middle of nowhere/some one's backyard but the scenery did not affect our experience in the least. (well initially when we drove up, we were wondering if we needed to drink some wine to get past our nerves/sketchiness) But enter with an open mind and you will be guaranteed a great time! David and his wife were a perfect combo of good cop bad cop initially. haha they DO know what they are talking about. I found them to be hilarious. They are just concerned with your safety and their instructions can come off a bit short and direct but when you are soaring 25 feet in the air on a swing, you aren't going to hear full sentences or words like please. I found the sour patch kid reviews to be pretty accurate. They also didn't mind a little sass back from us- we had a ton of fun. They start you off on the ground and it basically felt like a trust fall from 25 feet up. NOT EASY at first. Lots of hesitations. If you just listen and do what they say at the exact moment when they say it, you'll land every trick. Some things could have been a bit better explained but its also quite different once you are soaring in the air vs on the ground. They keep their explanations brief because everything goes out the window when you attempt to do it up there. If you fall, they have the harness which will slow you down, so don't freak out. I just assumed you landed directly on the net in a free fall. (which is also fun when they are having you do the flips) We each got to attempt each trick twice, they have you do the first swing (or leap of faith) with a freefall on your back, the second trick is you flip upside down and put your legs on the bar and backflip into the net, lastly you do a catch where another guy catches you by the arms while you hang upside down. We were all able to nail each trick and NONE of us have amazing upper body strength. I have recommended it to a bunch of my friends (guys and girls) and they are all looking to give it a try soon! read more

Just an update: After reading the details in a few negative reviews, some of you will complain about anything. Yes, this place is in the backyard of the owner. The grounds are well kept and safe. Plus, if you're there for trapeze and you're looking at anything other than the bar or the person catching you, you're doing it wrong!! If your surroundings matter that much, drive all the way to Santa Monica and pay $150 for less time. I'll gladly take your time slot at Trapeze High. Also, yes, they give you a quick crash course on the ground and the rest is up on the trapeze. The best way to learn is to do. Just trust the trainers, stop trying to control everything, and listen to what they're telling you. Again big thanks to all the instructors! I had my first lesson at Trapeze High a year ago. It was terrifying, exhilarating and the funnest thing I've ever done. A great experience, despite my own fears! So much so, that after a year-long hiatus, I decided to start going back on a regular basis. I've now been going regularly for almost three months, and there is no way I'll ever stop. Here's what's great about Dave (owner) and the staff...they care so much about each individual and their safety, skill level, and about you just having fun! They make sure to show you the correct, safe way of doing things. If you're not doing something safely, they'll tell you. I really appreciate their attention to that. It makes me implicitly trust them when they're holding the other end of my safety lines, or when they tell me I'm doing the trick wrong so I don't hurt myself (and have the most fun). They really help you to develop your skill properly, even if you're only going to do one class in your lifetime. If you follow their instruction, you'll leave an hour and half later having done back flips and being caught by a catcher. I had no idea that would be possible my first class! Between the awesome rig, the great people that work there, all the regulars that fly, and the entire atmosphere, it's quite possible you'll become completely addicted, and will need to keep coming back. This experience has been the absolute HIGHLIGHT of 2008 for me. What a freakin' good time! Trapeze High are friendly, knowledgeable, and totally professional. Yes, they make you sign the obligatory waiver in case you injure or kill yourself; but they are completely focused on training you well and keeping you safe. All students wear safety harnesses at all times, and even if you go into a terrible, awful fall, they'll slow you down with the harnesses and get you down to the net slowly and safely. But the most thrilling, adrenaline-pumping part - of course - is FLYING! In my first lesson (1.5 hours/$45) I learned proper launching, swinging, and landing on the net; I learned how to get myself into a knee hang while swinging from the trapeze; I did a back-flip off the bar and onto the net; and I accomplished the hand off (where you are swinging from your knees and another flyer times it just right to swing in and catch you by locking their arms around yours). I went from launching out on my hands, switching up to my knees mid-flight, swinging from my knees on the bar, to reaching out and switching to the arms of my catcher and then finally swinging and releasing to the net. Nick, my catcher, even gave me the secret catcher's handshake after we did the hand-off successfully. You'll have to go and try for yourself to see what that is! And let me tell you, if you think you can't do this - you're wrong! You CAN! Anyone who really wants to do this, CAN DO IT! I can't wait to go back. This 'trapeze class' takes place in a persons backyard. The man who runs it seems nice enough, however, the description is incredibly misleading. The way the grounds are kept (imagine dirt mounds, scrap yard, old shoddy equipment, mold, trailer for a bathroom) it gives the impression that upkeep or safety does NOT seem to be of the highest concern. It's certainly not a professional setting and I was concerned for my safety. I was really excited to go and it was a huge disappointment (although, a pretty funny story to tell my friends, "So I drove 2-hours to this random guys house..."). Maybe if the price was a quarter of what it is and you lived nearby and were looking for something to do with a friend, and you knew the owner, MAYBE I would say try it. Had a great time for my first experience on the trapeze. The staff was a little overwhelmed when I arrived because there was a problem with overbookings, etc. but they managed to work everything out and got us started ASAP. The training was brief but to the point as we wasted no time climbing the ladder to the top for our first practice swing. It was a little terrifying but after your first jump, everything seemed fine. We were taught 2 different moves that we could practice. Overall we got 5 practice attempts and then moved to our final 2 attempts to be caught by a catcher on another trapeze using 1 of 2 moves we were taught. The trapeze was much more challenging than I expected as I have greater appreciation for these athletes or acrobats. The school is located in Dave's (the owner) backyard so it's not too sexy of a setting but a homey like feel to it. There are not many schools like this available in the US (under 30 in total) so we as San Diegans should feel honored to have the ability to try this entertaining yet challenging activity. read more
