This studio is a team of creative thinkers that bring out the best in our kids. Classes, camps, workshops, competitive teams, non-competitive teams, a leadership team, musical theatre plays, recitals, themed events, adult classes, community outreach, and even a dance preschool...you name it, PACMO does it. This studio has become a second home to my two daughters who take a variety of classes here. They look forward to all there classes and working with the teachers. My entire family and I LOVE Pacific Motion Dance Center! I have four kids who take classes there, 3 girls and 1 boy, and they take everything from ballet to hip hop. My 4-year-old and I are currently taking a Father Daughter dance class that Miss Bridget is teaching, and although I have always been terrified of dancing in public, it has been the best experience! Miss Bridget is patient, funny and is dedicated to making sure that the kids learn while enjoying themselves! From what I can tell all of the other instructors are extremely talented, come from a diverse background, and are enthusiastic about growing the studio and including all types of dancers in all types of disciplines. A decent studio, but a way too mercenary during this COVID time. They are charging way too much for zoom classes and the recital should have been discounted as it is a virtual event. I know it's a tough time for all businesses, but likewise it is difficult for struggling parents and Dancers as well. read more

Excellent Studio. They love your children as their own. Their teachers have extensive backgrounds working with children and professionals. My daughter has been attending sense she was 18 months. This studio has come out to perform at my 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb for 3 years in a row. The children are happy and excited and do great performing in front of a large crowd! The directors and teachers are organized and communicative and super sweet to their students. One time we were able to arrange to have them perform on FOX 5 News the morning before our event and they were there at the crack of dawn ready to strut their stuff! I'd definitely call on them to perform in the future! read more

This started as a really long review, but really it can be summarized into 3 reasons why I would not recommend this studio. 1. If they do not like you, the parent, they will take it out on your children. My daughter was in their performance company (under a contract) and when I asked about the use of the fees given a number of changes to the events and schedule, they kicked her out of the studio, while acknowledging it had nothing to do with her. 2. "Boutique" means the studio is really small so they are going to overcharge you for everything to make up for the lack of students. The monthly class fees are on the high end, but fairly comparable to other studios, however if you get more involved everything is much, much more than any other studio. To join performance company (everyone seems to get invited), it was almost $800, plus the fee for each event you participate in, plus a very specific make-up kit, plus very specific warm up attire. Everything is marked up, so if you participate in the recital expect to pay a lot more than other studios. To take part in 4 dances, it was going to cost almost $500 this year. That does not include the video, photos or any other extras you might want. I was happy to pay if we got something out of it, but the studio do not deliver and purely overcharge. 3.The level of instruction is poor. When we started to look for a different studio, we tried out all of the surrounding studios in the area. We were met with friendliness and inclusion everywhere we went, and shock when we shared our PacMo story. The level of instruction was superior everywhere we tried. One studio commented that the highest level PacMo teaches is to a low intermediate at best. We also found that PacMo does not teach the fundamentals. In a couple of months my daughter has improved in her new studio much more than she did in a year at PacMo, so despite the horrible experience we have ended up in a much better studio. I could go on and on because we had so many shocking experiences, but these are the 3 that I would consider if I were looking for a studio. As the owner was telling us not to return, she said she isn't organized and we would be better suited in a more together studio. Since the City of Carlsbad confirmed that they do not have an active business license, it isn't clear if they consider themselves a real business....which may also explain the chaos and disorganization. read more

My Sister and I attended Bridgette's sculpt and sweat and her barre class. The time goes by fast and you still get your butt kicked. Bridgette keeps the energy high and is creative in different techniques. Take her class. Your summer body will thank you! I think the first class is free. read more

We recently started going to the Saturday drop-in class for 1-3 year olds. It's 45 minutes and is full of songs, dance and fun. Wendy is really approachable and the kids warm up to her right away. I definitely recommend Pacific Motion! read more

This rating is based on our experience with the 2-3yr ballet/tap instructor, Bridgette (brunette) vs the studio itself. This was my daughter's first exposure to dance classes. She attended PacMo ~6x. The instructor uses time outs...EXCESSIVELY. If my LO didn't follow along, time out. If she performed the exercises but went in the circle instead of outside the circle, time out. If she stood up instead of stayed seated at the ballet bar, she would get yelled at to sit down. I spoke to Holly about the time outs and Bridgette contacted me the next day. I asked if we could work around the time outs since my LO is only 2 and it is something we don't exercise at home. I said the effectiveness of TO's is debatable and tried to explain the negative aspects associated with it so she understood why we weren't supportive of it. She became defensive and asked if I was a child psychologist and said I was lecturing her. She also confused my LO with another child when she spoke of her behavior. She mentioned that the ONLY time my LO was put in a time out was bc my daughter kicked or hit a child and how my husband said she was in a hitting phase. This was extremely upsetting for my husband bc he never stated that since our child is not aggressive. I have some video and proof of when she put my LO in time outs, none related to hitting like she claimed. Needless to say, we have left that studio solely bc of Bridgette. My friend joined bc of me and now wants to leave bc of Bridgette. Another friend took a trial class and didn't join bc of how she saw Bridgette treat my LO. We have joined another studio and couldn't be happier. After the first day of class I asked my daughter where she wanted to go for the wknd and she said dance class. She also said she loves dance and how nice the teacher was. She never said any of that while at PacMo. I'm glad I pulled her out when I did so she wouldn't be turned off by dance in general. read more

My daughter has just switched to Pacific Motion from another studio and, although she was very nervous about it in the beginning, after the first week she felt right at home! She loves all her teachers, and the girls are very welcoming and accepting. My daughter takes ballet classes with Ms. Kirsten on Wednesdays and Thursdays and she feels like she has improved a great amount as a dancer. Even when the class is just practicing basic technique, she says Ms. Kirsten is always giving very valuable corrections to her and the other students, and she inspires them to do their best. read more

My 6 and 3 year old take a boys hip hop class here and love it! Miss Lisa is high energy, keeps them having fun and leaves them sweating. It's fun, good exercise and teaches them how to be in a class setting. She also teaches them to encourage one another, always cheering each-other on. read more

We found Pacific Motion because we followed Ms. Bridget (the brunette teacher who does a lot of the preschool classes) from another studio. She is SO gifted with the littles (structured, kind, fun, etc) and all of my girls adore her! Since taking classes here my oldest daughter has gotten very involved and it's truly become a home away from home for us. All of the teachers are top notch (we love Ms Wendy and Ms Delena!), but my favorite aspect is the the environment they've created for my kids. It IS structured and they are legit with their instruction and technique, but you can FEEL that their focus is creating and fostering a love for dance,and each other, more than anything else. As we've traveled around competing with the studio I've realized how rare and special this is. We are so proud to be part of pacmo and thankful we found it! read more

Pacific Motion Dance Center is my favorite dance studio because the instructors are very genuine and teach lots of leading and following skills so that you can dance with anyone! I have been to several other studios where they talk about social dancing but what they're actually teaching is choreography. Several friends have now gone there to prepare for their wedding dance and have also given them a rave review. And, despite having studied for several years now, I always find something new to learn because they have a lot of classes and a lot of teachers to choose from. read more
