We absolutely love this studio! Both of my daughters have been dancing here since they were 18 months old--now they're 7 and 5--and it's been such a positive experience every step of the way. The classes are always age-appropriate, with just the right balance of fun and challenge as they've progressed. The recital costumes are adorable and thoughtfully chosen for each age group. We've had the chance to work with many of the teachers over the years, and every one of them has been wonderful. The office staff is also incredibly supportive and welcoming. My daughter has danced at ASA for 4 years and it has been a wonderful experience. She has grown exponentially in her skill and technique. The instructors are kind, encouraging and knowledgeable. This is not a high pressure, competitive dance studio but the technique and performance is high quality. The environment is welcoming and supportive, with age appropriate choreography, music and costumes. If you're wanting a little extra, the Company performance team is an option as well. My daughter has danced here the last couple of years and we love, LOVE this studio. FIRST, The teachers are amazing role models for our children and create such a positive, safe, creative environment! I cannot say enough good things about them. My daughter has learned so much - she's engaged, challenged and loves to go each week. We have participated in two recitals - very organized and well done! Our family members all commented this past recital how they look toward to it each year. The music choices and themes are always so creative and beautifully executed! All the staff and volunteer parents create such an uplifting supportive environment for all dancers to perform on stage. A Step Above is very organized, affordable, and (while I can only opinionate on the intro/beginner classes because that's the only experience we have had so far) convenient with multiple classes on different dates and times. My wife and I joke that we can't imagine how good the studio can be at such affordable rates. These women and men are incredibly invested with the studio, their students, and their craft. There is a genuine sense of community in the classes where everyone supports and encourages each other and this really shines during the yearly class recital/performance. The production was very professional, magnificent, and entertaining. Their are four different studios in the well-kept shopping center. There is lots of parking and a sitting area to view your kids practice. Lastly at night the shopping center is mainly used by the studio and is very well lit and spacious. read more

I cannot say enough good things about this dance studio. My girls (ages 3 & 5) started taking classes here in February 2018, and from dance classes to annual recitals to summer camps, all of it has been nothing short of a wonderful experience. A great family centered organization! The teachers really know their stuff! Dance music is varied and clean. Costumes are appropriate, colorful and add to the dance visualization. I previously had my granddaughters at another studio where the competition team was all that mattered, some of the music was a little raunchy, and the costumes were quite immodest. A Step Above lives up to their name! So impressed with what Miss Chelsea and her husband Chris have created! HIGHLY RECOMMEND. They do have an amazing Company (team of dancers) yet they give balance to those who think of dance as a hobby and not a life consuming choice. My now nine-year-old was just two when she took her first class at ASA and we have been here ever since!! In addition to the quality technique and age-appropriate moves and music we appreciate, we have come to know the hearts of the owners, who are in it for the right reasons. I never doubt that their top consideration is the kids as they make decisions related to the studio. I bring my 11-year-old daughter here, our first dance studio and hopefully our only! Teachers are so involved in teaching students. *Ms Abby* is spectacular with kids, super patient and positive. Great atmosphere for learning. We started off with the Hip Hop 1 class and got hooked on the dance studio. We did our first recital-- massive production very well executed. One complaint I should add is getting into classes can be somewhat difficult-- always full, but I guess that's a good sign. read more

All four of my girls attend classes here. It's kind of our second home! Great for families. Love that this studio really teaches DANCING and are very focused on technique. My girls have excelled so much in the time they have been at ASA. They have fun and learn how to push themselves in a positive way. Chelsea is an amazing dance teacher and our daughter has loved learning from her for the last year and a half. Their prices are COMPLETELY reasonable and not only is she a great dance teacher, but they put together a fantastic recital each June. Our daughter was taking dance at another studio for a couple years and I feel she has learned more in the last few months than she did at her last school. The class is very well organized with a teacher (She takes from Miss Kathie) and a teacher's helper. I love that I do not have to worry about the language being used (by the teachers or the music) and I love the teaching. Pricing is hard to beat! We (my wife) recently signed our daughter up for beginner tap and ballet lessons here and I must say while I am not a dancer, I was impressed by the staff here. The rates make it easy to get your child started, but the staff really does give them some great hands on instruction...not just loud music and kiddos dancing around for an hour. Even with a room full of 4 and 5 year olds...the two instructors went hands on with all of them, making them comfortable and seeing that they actually got something out of their hour+ session. Overall the studio itself is kept up and as a parent you are well informed.
