I like that the front desk staff communicate well with the parents, and I like that the school is very careful about how the dancers behave in the common area. Hopefully after reading my review you can make an informed decision to sign up or not. In the end we moved on to a new studio (cheaper price and better communication). But Georgia's still might the right choice for you. One of my biggest fears with any dance studio is when they force girls to dress and dance provocatively like they were in a hip hop music video. I'd say Georgia's is more on the conservative side which was a big plus. If you're new here it can be tough getting pertinent dance studio information. Sue (owner) has no concept of technology and often posts official announcements via poster board on the windows of the studio. Good luck getting info for picture day or info buying the recital video. That's probably one of the main factors for leaving here. The classes are fine and so was the instruction. Tho keep in mind instructors struggle with receiving information from the owner too. The big recital in June. After a year of classes you'll be expecting a proper recital and Georgia's doesn't disappoint. They rent out the Center Stage theater ( California Center of the Arts) for three nights of recitals. A total of 40 different classes put on a performance before a packed house each night. If you're into a big production, Georgia's is the place to go. Notes: - Cash only!?! This is not a liquor store! - Instructors can be let go on a whim.. - No parents allowed. They have a waiting room up front, or chairs in the back alley area but no cameras of the classes like other studios. - While there are some very competitive dancers (and parents) that's not the norm. - The receptionist/ cash collector is just there to collect payment. No vested interest in being enthusiastic about the studio or the customers. - There are additional fees for the recital and a whopping $26 per ticket to watch each night. I'm not suggesting Sue (owner) is making a profit and I suspect she's losing money on the recital. I'm pointing out additional fees you may or may not be made aware of. This also goes back to the lack of communication. So is Georgia's worth it? Look, there's a great recital and most people like this studio. Just know it's far from perfect and the owner refuses to modernize.. So yeah, give it a try for a year..

My DD is in her pre-professional era, and we drive 25 min daily to her classes, 6 days a week. We transitioned here in middle school from her local studio. The directors teach all the levels so that proper foundational technique permeates through all levels. Husband trained at the same academy as Baryshnikov, and is a retired NYCB dancer. Wife trained at Academie de Princesse Grace ( Monaco), and also had a lauded professional ballet career. They have taught over 20 years. The class sizes are small, instruction is very attentive. Many body types succeed here, and teachers' approach is anatomy informed. Class time can run over allowing more time as needed to achieve goal/lesson of the day. The students perform an annual Nutcracker, and a full length classical ballet in the Spring ( rotation of Sleeping Beauty, Swan Lake, Cinderella, and La Bayadere). Competitions are optional ( we dont plan any), and all students are welcome to schedule privates. Many students audition and are accepted into "3 letter" prestigious summer intensives. In the last 2 years, Every student who auditioned for San Francisco Ballet summer was accepted, one student got a year round scholarship to the Boston Ballet. One will attend Joffrey (Chicago) in the Fall and another recently moved to Ballet West. The instructors teach with passion, dedication to each student ( irrespective of career or recreational intent), and fidelity to the art form. They are calm and conscientious. Former professional ballet dancers send their children here. My daughter is very proud of her growth here as a strong and beautiful dancer!

If I did not check my charges, this would have been monthly ongoing basis. I have called my credit card company to block this merchant and dispute this charge; as the studio does NOT reply back to their emails unless you are a new student or enrolling. Not a happy camper!

They are able to teach the many kids they deal with every day with humor and respect and enable their talent to blossom. Yes, my kids take classes here, and have for years, but it really is a great place. Couldn't believe it wasn't on here yet. NCDA also piloted a program where the families of the studio adopted families from nearby Camp Pendleton for Christmas (Bells of Freedom) several years ago. Last year, two huge UPS trucks and the guys in brown alongside a caravan of families made many underserved servicemen's families holiday a lovely surprise. What NCDA started benefits not only the military families but also the kids from the studio who do all the prep work and hopefully, learn a little about giving back to others. As a note, the studio also offers adult classes, both during the weekday and on evenings, for beginners and beyond. There are families that have both moms and kid(s) dancing at the yearly recital.
