It's summer and less crowded in Oakland which meant we had to go for a family style meal at K-Town Snack Bar where we ordered one of everything on the menu. It took a minute for everything to come out which was fair since we ordered a lot and there was only one person making enriching. The inside is on the smaller side with a couple of tables and a longish sort of bar table with high stools. We got the whole chicken with spicy sauce and it was absolutely incredible!! The tteokbokki and mandoo were solid as were the other sides. I thought the corn dogs needed a little something extra like a sauce but that being said, we ate all of them. We ordered from this location on Uber Eats and it's literally almost 11pm. The food came so fast and it was warm and delicious. The generous amount was worth the price. The sticky rice was on point and the beef was so flavorful, had a little char to it that I appreciate so much!! I will definitely come back and I do recommend this place. I love the bulgogi although everything is way over priced it's shameful! the spicy ramen is nothing more than store bought noodles heated for you which was super disappointing. I literally had the same noodles at home in the pantry. $17 for rice, lettuce, and a few pieces of chopped up meat is just not acceptable and if you want extra there is a $7 extra charge and the protein isn't even doubled. Seems like there's a charge and no extra protein included. wanted to love the food and there's potential but the price gouging has to stop. K-Towne used to be better when they first opened. Service is horrible when the owner isn't there to supervise. It's partially due to being early in the college season but, my order was lost in their tickets and had to wait almost 40 minutes for my food. Quality is hit or miss too, depending on who's working the bowl is delicious and balanced. Other times it's smothered in their salad sauce and just ok much or the meat is super chewy. The service was really poor this time and will have me second guessing coming back while these two are working and or if they are busy The desserts changed too changing from the delicious fish to the new chocolate pancake paddy type thing. read more

Came here on a gorgeous day and was able to get one of their outdoor tables. The portion to price ratio was good. The tofu was a little too sweet for me but the rice, salad, sauce, and noodles were all delicious. I appreciate that the dumpling they gave was vegetarian (even my friend's meat dish had the same one) but it only has noodles in it so it was a lot of carbs on carbs. read more

Stopped in here for a quick dinner and was impressed. The menu is small but offers lots of options. We tried the bulgogi, tteokbokki, and mandu. The bulgogi was amazing, meat was tender and very flavorful. I liked that it was served with both noodles and rice and my daughter said they were both delicious and cooked well. She also liked the sauces on the salad. I had been craving tteokbokki for awhile and this really hit the spot. I do wish the sauce was a bit thicker to coat the rice cakes more but it had the perfect level of spice and great flavor. I was a little shocked to see the mandu had noodles inside but it tasted okay, my daughter emphatically said "these are excellent". I do wish they had meat options for these but can appreciate the range of vegetarian-friendly options here which can sometimes be hard to find in Korean restaurants. I just tried a few items from this place and thought the food was very average and a tad disappointing based on the reviews. I think maybe their entrees are better, but I just got 2 of the fish desserts. I got a gold fish with custard and a gold fish with chocolate. The chocolate was way tastier than the custard, and I am usually a custard fan. The portion was pretty decent. The breading tastes very similar to a waffle, so it's not too sweet. The sweetness really comes from the filling. The chocolate inside was delicious, and was similar to Nutella. Adequate amount of stuffing. This was quite good. However, the custard goldfish was a disappointment. First, the custard was almost dry. There was not too much stuffing as well. And, the custard itself was not that flavorful. So, I would not recommend this goldfish. Overall, a decent snack shop. Maybe the meat and entrees are better, but the goldfish were just okay. I was excited to hear that the food truck owners of Mr. Bulgogi opened this storefront, and happy to see more Asian representation in the Pittsburgh food scene. I ordered the bulgogi cup-bap on their second day of their soft opening! The bowl was filled with white rice, an iceberg salad, japchae noodles and fresh bulgogi. I liked how the meat was tender and flavorful. The portion size was fair for the price of $9.50. Excited to welcome this Korean snack bar to Oakland! I have not tried the owners Mr. Bulgogi food truck before so I was excited to see what this snack bar had to offer. They have a good variety of food options. If you are hungry, they have the cup bab or ramen. There are also snack foods like the gold fish, corndog, and tteokbokki. It is nice that they offer different add ins for the ramen and tteokbokki so you can customize your dish! They also have the ramen maker/ water boiler out so you can watch the machine work or do it yourself. So far I have only tried the gold fish. It was tasty but I wish there was more custard filling inside. I am interested in going back to try more soon! My friend tried the cup bab and said it was good but the portion was a little small, not filling enough to be a full meal. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Quick, tasty, and vegetarian-friendly! This is going to be added to my list of go-to quick lunch takeout spots in Oakland. I ordered inside and my food was ready in about 5-10 minutes. The portions are filling for the price. The tofu in the rice bowl is chopped up aburaage (the fried, marinated tofu pockets used in inarizushi). If you're a fan of the strong sweet, vinegary flavour that comes along with that, you'll love this dish (I certainly do) but, if you're looking for typical grilled spongy tofu, this may not be your cup of tea. The restaurant also has vegetarian options for the Korean corn dog, making me finally feel included! The breading was very thick for the amount of cheese and the cheese had a very mild flavour, so I likely won't order this again, but I was happy to get to try it. Small little place on campus that seems like a good place if you're looking for a quick bite on the go. The portions aren't very big at all. We dined in with a few friends and got the spicy pork bowl and tteokbokki. The pork was actually not bad, pretty tender and juicy but not spicy at all. There's some japchae in the bowel as well and it was pretty good as well. The tteokbokki however was so watery??? I don't believe there are fish cakes in it, just tteok and some vegetables. Great hidden spot for authentic Korean food! Located right off of Forbes in Oakland, I expected it to be very busy, but only a few people were inside so we ordered and got our food pretty quickly. They have a very small menu with only 5 or 6 options, but they all sounded delicious. I ordered the spicy pork bowl and loved it. The bowl included rice, lettuce, onions, noodles, and marinated pork all mixed together with yum yum sauce and a spicy pork sauce. It was a perfect balance of refreshing flavor and a bit of heat from the spices. The pork was thin but tender and rice was cooked just enough to be soft but not mushy. I would have liked more yum yum sauce to mix with ingredients, but the pork sauce also did a good job of making the bowl not as dry. Portions are large and filled me up, with prices also being reasonable. The staff was very friendly too. Recommend checking this place out for fast casual and delicious Korean food! read more

The bulgogi marinade was delicious. The only cons I had were the portions were on the smaller end. There is no way you can order one thing and be full. At minimum two orders. The tteokbokki was in a runny sauce, although the sauce itself was not bad. I would have preferred the salad be omitted and subbed for more rice or a more substantial side. This restaurant just opened and it's exciting to see a new Korean place specializing on classic and simple dishes. I enjoyed their chicken cupbap and their tofu cupbap. The seasoning is spot on with a tasty sweet and salty flavor. Additionally the owner was incredibly nice, greeting us with a big smile and was just pleasant to be around. My only issue was that I felt the portions were too small. Perhaps I've been spoiled with portions around the area for the same or even cheaper prices. Also, when I went, the rice was very much on the staler side. As delicious as the freshly made meats was, the hard, non-fluffy rice really detracted from the dishes. This was my first time trying a korean corn dog and it was yummy! I got the one with cheese filling and added sugar and ketchup to it. The corn dog was huge and the breading was very thick but I really enjoyed the taste of it with the sugar and ketchup. I'm excited to come back again and try out some other dishes here! read more
