First off... good Korean food is hard to find. On an absolute scale Golden Pig is probably a 3 to 3.5 but given we're in Pittsburgh, I'll go 4. It's a very cute standalone structure in the middle of nowhere. We literally drove almost an hour to try this place as we heard such good things. Quick tip - note that There is little to no seating, aside from some pretty old outdoor benches and tables. The husband and wife proprietors were so sweet. I have no doubt most of the prep is done by them, and the food falls into a homestyle meal rather than restaurant meal. As someone who grew up with this sort of food, I might be biased - it was good but maybe just didn't live up to the hype / aura of this tiny place that closes once they run out of food. In other words you won't likely be disappointed but I wouldn't say it blew me away either.
It has been a minute still we stopped before. We had a great experience this time. We went at 4pm and got seating inside. They also have seating outside. Interaction with owner was awesome. Spicy kimchi tasted great. It was an awesome home cooked Korean meal, like you were at home. We will definitely return.
I stopped by here a couple of Saturdays ago with my wife. We had been watching a cooking show featuring Korean cuisine during the week and so both my wife and I were craving some good Korean food. Whenever we turned to Yelp to help satisfy our craving, I found the golden pig which I had actually bookmarked a few years before. So we placed a call to the restaurant with a to go order and arrived at the appropriate time. The shop itself is in a small building off of Millers Run Rd and the inside is pretty tiny. It consists of a cooler with drinks and then a couple of high top seats which I am not sure if you can eat at or not. Since my food was ready whenever I arrived, I was only inside for maybe 2 minutes to pay for it and I was on my way. For dinner on this evening I decided to go with the buldak chicken with fiery sauce while my wife went with the bulgolgi (thin sliced marinated beef) and then we also ordered a mixed veggies Korean pancake to share between us and our kids. My chicken ended up coming with a scoop of rice and a slaw of sorts while my wife's bulgolgi came with scoop of rice and kimchi. My dish from here ended up being good as the sauce was spicy as advertised and I liked the carrots, onion and spices with the chicken. Even with mine being good, I liked my wife's a lot better. Her bulgolgi was super tender and flavorful as well with the kimchi added some funk as needed. We both also ended up enjoying the pancake. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. Both my wife and I enjoyed our meals, so why not?
My brother is recovering from surgery and this was his first request! It is Amazing! Small bldg, minimal seating, but fantastic food.

I had the mandu and kimbop, both good basic options to start out with. My husband had the bulgogi which I ended up eating his leftovers of because it was soo good. It's very small with a few chairs inside but there are benches to sit on by the water outside as well. The people working (husband and wife I'm assuming) there were super friendly as well :) There's no kids menu but my 1 year-old liked the mandu. We'll probably be back next week
Golden Pig is a delicious hidden gem in Cecil! It is on the smaller side for restaurants, with limited seating outdoors, and no indoor seating at this time due to Covid, but ordering takeout is definitely worth the trip. My fiancé and I ordered the bulgogi dinner entree, which came with kimchi and rice. For an additional fee, you can switch the white rice with fried rice. We also shared a mixed veggie Korean pancake appetizer. I'm not usually a fan of Korean food, but my fiancé is, and he raved about his meal!
Super tiny takeout joint serving up some great Korean food in the South Hills! I got the korean pancakes with kimchi and beef bulgogi. Pancakes were huge and delicious, I would've liked them a little crispier but they were still great. The beef bulgogi was also good, but some of the meat was fatty and it could've used some more spice and seasoning. I LOVED the coleslaw. Prices are reasonable and the owners are so sweet! Will definitely be back, can't wait to try the mandu!
I am a huge fan of this little gem. They have taken many steps to make sure their customers are COVID safe. They sanitize between customers, enforce limited capacity, have outdoor seating, and wear masks. Great! The beef bulgogi is really the star of the show, though not the best I've ever had. The kalbi beef short ribs are also great but hard to eat without a knife. The japchae (sweet potato noodles) was very good, chewy and tasty, with some veggies mixed in, but I have had better elsewhere. The spicy slaw is good, the kimchee is standard and good. Overall, hit the spot! I love picking up food from here and then driving a few minutes down the road and eating at the local park.
I have been trying to get to this restaurant for years. We live in Wheeling with at least 1 very picky child. For my birthday this year my wife suggested we go while the kids were in school, I was not going to say no. First off the atmosphere. You walk into a very small, 1 table and a couple bar seats, room with a very comfortable setting. The owners/chefs are cooking food right behind the counter as though they were your mother and father making dinner. The menu is very small, but there's a reason for it. If you do something right then you should keep doing it. Each dish is made using recipes the proprietor grew up with and she uses the same techniques and recipes that she was taught growing up in South Korea. I have had Korean food in country while I was TDY in South Korea while in the Air National guard. I fell in love with the food their and I fell in love again at the Golden Pig. My wife suggested we try a few things and split them. We started with the Spicy Cucumber salad which is made with a fresh cucumber and spices. It's a light start with a slightly tangy, slightly spicy taste. I insisted we try the beef boulgogi since that was my favorite while I was overseas. It was like being taken back to Korea. The meat was tender and sweet and paired wonderfully with the Korean slaw, rice and Kimchi. For the second dish we tried the buldak chicken as well. It also came with slaw and kimchi. It's listed as firey on the menu and it's definitely up there spice wise. But the flavor is spot on. Mix it with your rice if you find it's too spicy. Last we tried a mixed vegetable pancake. It was something new I've never tried and it was a little hard to tell my brain it was a savory dish but the pancake itself and it does have a little sweetness, but the creaminess of the inside and crunch of the vegetables are a match made in heaven. If I had to have one downside it is the size of the restaurant. My wife and I had the only table and there were a few people waiting. They ended up sitting out at the picnic tables, and a couple more people sat at the bar. So the size isn't the best during busy times, but they offer to go. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone whether you know you like Korean or you're wanting to try something new. My wife is always hesitant with new things but she's already wanting to go back and try more items on their menu.
Had high expectations but fell somewhat flat. Small restaurant with limited seating inside so we got takeout. We got the bulgogi beef but it was pretty dry and lacked flavor. Our favorite dish was the buldak chicken which was spicy and flavorful. We also got the Korean pancake which probably would've been better if we ate it there rather than to go. I felt the entree portions weren't super big for the price. Staff was friendly and food was ready for pick up in 25 min. Worth a visit if in the area but not sure we will be back.

Such a delicious and authentic place. The inside is very small so not many dine in. A lot of carry out which the phone never stops ringing and that is how you know what a great place. Most delicious Korean food I've had in Pittsburgh. It's a little bit of a drive from the city but it is totally worth it! read more
A little mom and pop Korean restaurant in Cecil, Pa, just a few minutes drive from Bridgeville. Really good, basic Korean cuisine. I got the Bulgolgi Beef, a stir fry of beef, vegetables, and a side of white rice. Beef was nice, and tender, with the vegetables mixed in. A side of simple white rice. Don't expect gourmet, but very good, simple Korean beef. I got an app of fried potatoes, very basic sliced, fried potatoes, very good. You get a side dish plate right before your meal, with some spicy vegetables, and some Kim-chi. They have soy sauce, and some pepper flakes in oil, if you need to have a sauce for dipping. I put the pepper flakes in oil on my Bulgogi and rice, it definitely kicked it up a notch. Very good, basic Korean dinner. read more
Gotta give it a 5 just because its the only korean food place in Pittsburgh. On an absolute scale its a 3/4 but bc its the only place that reminds me of home here. Golden Pig is a local gem! They get busy on the weekend so I recommend calling early. The business is takeout only and you can find the menu on Facebook. There are multiple Korean pancake options and the pancake with kimchee was delicious, note the sauce on the side is spicy. The bulgogi is well seasoned with veggies, rice, and pickles veggies. I will order this every time! The japchae with beef was also mouthwatering. I don't think you can go wrong with anything on this menu! read more

This is an amazing place. The owner and her husband wait on you, take your order, cook the food in which is amazing. The interior is small but is very home style and is very relaxing. The travel is worth the experience as well is the very reasonable cost. I love coming here and trying different dishes, again make the travel if you love authentic Korean food. read more

Golden Pig is an awesome spot. Please read reviews! This place is awesome, but it is very small! There is one woman working, so you must be patient! If you show up here hoping to grab a quick bite, you may be sadly mistaken. Our food did come out super quick, but the wait for service took a bit (but I completely anticipated it/did not mind) The owner, "Momma", seems to be a town favorite. Everyone in this restaurant seemed to be a regular here, which was great. The space is extremely small, but we were able to grab a spot right away. I came here on a Friday, the closed sign was actually on because Momma was just so busy (again, completely understandable). When I sat down, I waited for her to turn me away, but she didn't - she just explained that she was busy and I would have to be patient. AGAIN, Hey PITTSBURGH! If you want great, home cooked Korean food, why don't you show up a little patient and a little hungry? It's definitely worth the wait. I don't believe they take reservations, but I do know they are BYOB. There are picnic tables outside, which is always a nice touch especially because the space is so small. CALL AHEAD. Everyone says they want "local food" .. "support local".. blah blah blah - but when it comes to not having a "corporation" type experience like Applebees, or Texas Roadhouse, everyone wants to complain when their food actually takes time to prepare. Support local, be patient, be kind, be understanding! You won't be disappointed with this place. read more
Still a great place. Take out only and only one person inside at a time. To bad you can't dine in because you don't get a chance to have a conversation with the chef as she cooks. There is a picnic table and one two seat hightop outside. My Daeji Bulgogi was great, spicy like the menu notes. Really enjoy the kimchi. Worth a drive if you are not in the area. Probably the only place for miles and miles that you can get true authentic Korean food! The Korean short ribs are a MUST! my husband really loves the spicy ramen (very spicy) but he didn't love the fried rice. Golden Pig is awesome and I love to see successful small businesses do so well in our area! read more

5 stars because we were already planning our next trip before we finished eating our meal. Who would think the best Korean place in Pittsburgh would be way out in Cecil? This might be the teeniest place ever but wow is it big on taste! We went at 2pm on a Monday so even though it was tiny (only seats about 11 people total) and I'm sure it gets packed, there were only 2 other (very friendly) people in there that were finishing up and leaving. It seems like they have a lot of regulars. The owners (?) behind the counter taking our order and cooking were very nice. Down low on the food: the Korean pancake was ginormous and so good. We got the vegetable but added some hot pepper too and then mixed the 2 sauces (chili paste&something else) at the table to dip it in and it added just the right amount of heat and extra flavor. Also ordered the bulgogi and for some reason on the hottest day of the year my sister wanted the spicy mackerel tofu soup. He warned us when ordering it was fishy (which we expected and it was) but it also was chock full of other goodies like tofu and kimchi and super flavorful. The banchan they serve with your order was awesome! High five to the lady I was talking to at the Korean food bazaar that turned me on to this place :-) can't wait to come back! read more
Have you ever had a home cooked Korean meal? If not, this is just the place to go to! Before visiting this place, consider if you're eating in or doing takeout. The restaurant itself is extremely small with two tables and counter area. So if you're eating in, arrive early or call ahead for takeout. We went there on Friday night and were doing takeout. We got lucky that we got in before the crowd started arriving which still took at least 20 minutes for our food to be ready. The place is very cozy and free parking is always a plus. The food itself is pretty decent. We ordered kim bop (sushi), kimchi chi gae, egg soup and bugolgi. The egg soup was delicious and filled with flavor. As for the kim bop, I did enjoy it but it was small and there were more veggies more than anything. I also like the kimchi chi gae which was a bit spicy but very well seasoned. The only downside is that everything had small portions for the price. read more
This rating does not reflect a comparison between other cities' Korean food as this would not be an apples-to-apples comparison. If you spent as much time as I did seeking out decent, non-Americanized Asian cuisine, you would understand. It would simply be unfair to judge a one-woman's home cooking operation to other large businesses in established Asian communities. Simply put, she does a decent job in putting out a homey feel with food at reasonable prices. Their condensed version of ban chan (small side items that accompanies the entree) come combined on one plate. The handmade kimchi was outstanding and she also packages them in jars for sale. Some of the items on the menu I had: Korean pancake - the texture is consistent with what I expect and the optional hot peppers really add a delayed heat kick that I enjoyed. Bulgogi- a stir fry of seasoned meat and veggies that comes with steamed rice. Simple but hits the spot. Short Rib - comes already deboned and tender. The marinade on the soft, tender meat is a welcome change. I would have liked it even more with grilled onions. Mackerel tofu soup - large chunks of fish and spicy tofu soup. The spines of the fish were super soft and can be eaten so no bones to worry about. Verdict: best Korean outside the city on the south side of town. read more

Don't blink when you're driving down the road. You'll miss this great place. It's a small part of an unassuming building. Hanging out on the end of the building, this small store front, we are told, gets full quick during meal times. We came for a late lunch just for that. Just three tables in the joint with a bar to sit when you want to watch the cooking or just talk to the owner. She's a real joy, who loves her food and what she does. I don't normally think of Korean BBQ in Pittsburgh but I'll be back. read more

I cannot eat spicy food at all. Is there anything I can eat here?
Yes! You can ask them for zero spice. But things like the pancake and Korean sushi, the bulgolgi don't have spice (you spice it up by adding some of their hot sauce if you want to add a kick).
