I just installed my 8th or 9th K&M cold air kit plus something new, their Air Oil Separator kit for my 2015 GMC Sierra. Both installed as easily as every other K&N kit I've done. It took about an hour with basic hand tools, plus a few extra other than what the instructions mentioned, to accomplish the installation. BUT.... Almost immediately the engine would not idle properly and I began to suspect that I had loosened a wire or done something unintentional to the engine. The problem was intermittent and I thought it would go away once the engine had a few miles on it and had adjusted to the new intake. So about 5 days later I decided to call K&N tech support and explain the situation. The "problem" turned out to be that I had misread the instructions and installed the Mass Air Flow sensor in the wrong direction. In less than 10 minutes I had it oriented the correct way and now my truck is idling normally again! Thank you K&N for your great products AND your easily accessible tech support. By the way, I can't wait for the federal government to resolve this C.A.R.B. nonsense and allow for the sale of ALL of K&N's products in California. read more

K&N is going to lose more business than they can believe if they persist in ignoring their web site "Contact Us" messages and their tech support emails sent to the email address listed on their web site. I've sent 3 and not a single reply to any of them. And I've been a K&N customer forever. But the forever has come to an end. That's for sure. The filter I bought, a CM1314 is a cylinder shaped filter for a 2015 Can Am Spyder. The ID of the filter had some excess rubber at the lip of the ID which must have come out of the mold that way. I took 2 photos of the area and then trimmed the excess rubber from the ID using an Exacto knife, as close as possible to where it should have been in the first place. My concern was, because it was on the inside of the filter, is it possible any additional rubber material could come off the ID and be ingested into the engine intake, which could prove disastrous. All I wanted was K&N's assurance it would not be a problem. So I sent the first message via the "Contact Us" link on their web site. Over a week and no reply. I sent a second and third message to the tech support email address given on their web site TWICE along with the two pictures I took. Again, over a week and no response. Now isn't that terrific customer service? WRONG! Although the K&N filter is a "lifetime" filter, be assured no matter how good K&N thinks they are, they are not going to get another cent of my money. I've been buying K&N filters for over 30 years. That's it! I'm done with them! I hope others will read this and take it to heart. Other reviewers use the word crass describing k+n customer service and reluctantly I am joining that crowd. I bought another k+n filter for my bike five month ago, and today I discovered that it shrunk and no longer fits the airbox. K+N customer service said that it is because of the gas fumes, and that they can't do anything to help me..... maybe they are now tailoring their filters to electric vehicles that have no gas fumes? I've installed a few of their "Gold Series" oil filters, but I don't plan on buying these again in the future. The reasons for my reluctance to continue my purchases are as follows: the company has outdated information on its website; it fails to reply to e-mails after several weeks; and I've noticed some recent design changes that now incorporate plastic components in the filters. Occasionally, there are valid technical reasons for switching to plastic components, but I don't know if this was the case here (and there seems to be no one at the other end of the customer service line to defend or explain their design changes.) There are currently filters on the market at roughly half the cost that appear to be coming from the same manufacturer, bearing a different nameplate but with nearly identical construction and performance. read more

After ordering the intake system and attempting to install the parts, it was obvious that K&N did not make a system that fit my car. On top if the inconvenience of the equipment not fitting, I am forced to pay return freight due to their errors. Cannot recommend this business or their products. read more

I wanted to install a performance air intake system for my Camaro 2SS but the State of California has not yet approved and perhaps never will approve the one I really want for my car. As a result I settled for the K&N 33-5047 Air Filter which replaces my factory filter with a life time warranty. The filter can be washed and reused. The Filter cost $63 and some change. I installed a K&N cold air intake system in 2008 on a 2006 Chevy Silverado Duramax diesel. K&N showed performance graphs showing power and performance gains compared to the factory air box and filter. I mistakenly threw my original air box and piping away after I installed the K&N cold air intake system because I believed them. I was towing a heavy boat thinking the shown increased power and torque would be a benefit pulling up mountain passes in Montana. Plus the bonus of only 100,000 mile cleaning that K&N claims is all it needs. Now the results. There was absolutely no difference what so ever in performance or mileage. The other big issue is this K&N filter gets coated with dirt and fuzz like that you find in a vacuum cleaner bag in less than 3000 miles (all blacktop driving) because of it taking intake air from the passenger side upper inside wheel well. I've been putting up with it for years because I threw my OEM air box and piping away. Finally I couldn't take the 2000 and 3000 mile cleaning and oiling of it. It cost over $800 to buy the original OEM air box and piping to put it back to original. I previously had used just the K&N filters in other cars of mine including cabin air filters. In those I didn't see any difference either but I had thought of the cost savings on not having to buy new paper filters all of the time was a benefit. That also was a mistake. The engine filters "took out" 3 mass air flow sensors and made them fail due to them getting coated with oil. When I called K&N customer service K&N said they were over oiled. Well two of the MAF sensors failed when the filters were new from K&N that I had never cleaned and oiled yet. I needed a fuel filter for the Duramax diesel and K&N makes them but they don't show a micron rating like other filter manufacturers do. So I called K&N customer service to find out what the micron rating was on that filter. I was told that they didn't have that information but it meets OEM standards. One last thing! I wrote a negative review on my K&N cold air intake system that I had put on the 2006 Silverado on their website. They don't post negative reviews on their website and I received an email from them telling me to call customer service. What' the point of the reviews if they only post positive reviews? In closing I've looked up professional tests performed by large companies comparing K&N performance air filters to OEM filters. All of the test showed no or minimal unnoticeable performance gains and very poor filtering compared to OEM factory paper type air filters allowing more dirt into your engine proving K&N claims are totally false and also totally about marketing. read more

I have used K & N cold air intakes and air filters on all of my cars and trucks for over 20 years. I've trusted the products and always felt comfortable with the service. Recently, my adult son and I ordered a air filter for my Ram pickup from the K & N website. We were assured that the filter was designed to fit my 5.7 Hemi. It did not! I called K&N on the customer phone number listed on their website and tried reaching a representative. I called in the early afternoon PST and received a message that no one was available to take my call. I called back and still could not get in touch with a human. I called 3 more times in the following weeks only to receive the same message. My son and I finally connected with a K&N representative who was rude and crassly questioned us on which particular area we ordered the part on their website. Because in her explanation, if it was ordered on one specific area of the website she would give us a refund, otherwise she would not honor our request. We explained that both areas are on her K&N website and our request for a refund should be honored. The product was not used and was still in the shipping container it was received. She then shifted her position that we were past the refund window and she would not honor our request. As retail protocol demands, I asked to speak to a supervisor. In a snarky tone, she tried talking me out of it. When I insisted, she said, "fine, please hold" and many minutes later, no one ever picked up the phone. I'm sure she thought that was pretty cute on her part. The representative was arrogant in her demeanor, insensitive to our request and dealt with the issue in a unprofessional and an unnecessarily combative manner. The attitude received was surprising to long term and loyal customers and wasn't representative of a company that I want to do business. I no longer trust K&N and will never buy from them again. I have always used K & N cold air systems on almost every engine build I have done over the last 10 years because they have always been the best quality out of all of the other brands but I believe I will stop doing business with them now because of the poor quality of a chrome cold air typhoon tube I purchased for my 2006 Mustang GT Show Car. I had purchased one to replace the original when it started getting fine scratches from being cleaned frequently before car shows. When I received the new one I was shocked at how bad the quality of the surface was before it was chromed. There were so many surface imperfections that anyone with eyesight would have polished out before sending it to the chrome shop but it was chromed with all of the imperfections. The quality control has gone from 9.5 to 3.0 or less in my opinion. The tube costs $144 and when I contacted customer service along with several photos I took of the tube, The Rep agreed that they would not use it themselves and they were going to send a warranty replacement the next day but I received an e-mail informing me that since I purchased the tube by itself and not in a kit that I would have to purchase another one at $144 so I asked to speak to a supervisor who told me that if they sent another it might be in the same condition as the one I won't use on my own car and rather than finding me a quality replacement they decided to refund my money, Which I still haven't seen yet. read more

I ordered a cold air intake from on the 5th. I paid the couple extra dollars for FedEx overnight to get it sooner. 2 days later I still have not received anything about shipping or tracking number, so I emailed them, I did not hear back. On Monday when they opened, I called costumer support to ask for a tracking number and where it was. The tracking number I was given did not work and they told me that they sent me an email with tracking number, I did not receive that email till 3 hours later and from there I was able to track my shipment. I did not get an actual email for tracking until after it had arrived. I started my set up and putting things together, 5 mins in my air filter adaptor did not fit into the heat shield, so I spent the next hour grinding out the hole making it able to fit the adaptor and now it fits fine. I continued the install only to realize I was given a hump hose that also does not fit my filter adaptor nor my intake pipe. I do not recommend. I recommend ordering from a better company! read more

Ordered a filter for a mustang got a kit for a dodge ram when I called customer support after their inference that it was all my fault they issued a ra and then said I would need to wait a few days for fed ex to issue a return label. I have been using K & N air filters for my last 3 cars and will continue any future vehicles I buy. My wife's air filter had the gasket go bad, so I called for a new gasket to repair the air filter. They sent us a brand new filter, and the new design for the gasket is much better and better materials. It is nice to deal with a company that does things like this, customer service that is top shelf. The rep was Mandy and she has a customer that will keep referring friends to K & N for all their filter needs. These filters have helped me with proformance and still increase MPG, I get 31.8 MPG in my Honda Odyssey w/VCM engine (6 cyl), and that was on several trips cross country for 6 adults w/luggage. These filters will increase your air flow to the engine, but the right foot gives the higher MPG. Keep up the great job and Thank You so much for all your help. read more

K&N claims that their products are 50 state legal. This is untrue. My 2006 BMW M3 is identical in every way to a 2005. Often manufacturers do not differentiate between the 2 models so when the '06 was not listed I wasn't worried since it is not uncommon. I purchased the 57-1003 and had it installed. Went to a STAR certified smog station and was informed that my car wasn't legal. I then contact the shady as F company known as K&N who told me my car wasn't covered, EVEN THOUGH IT IS THE SAME IN EVERY WAY AS ONES THAT ARE, and I needed to show photographic proof of it's destruction to get a refund. Well it was a few months before I felt like paying to have it removed but when I do they then inform me that there's a 30 day limit. Now I have a destroyed intake that I paid for and 2 garage bills thanks to these slimy pieces of poop. Buyer beware! read more

I live in CA, the same state this company resides, and I ordered a cold air intake system that claimed to be CA compliant but the smog test proved otherwise. When I contacted the company they backtracked to say they can't guarantee compliance. They are in CA but don't sell products that are guaranteed compliant in CA??? This company rocks. I highly recommend everyone change their car's paper air filter to K&N's re washable air filter. It not only is cleanable and reusable it saves u money and is good on the environment. I have put these filters in all the cars that I own and most the time able to find them on line for a super price. Get this I found one by searching the part number on Google and grabbed it for $20. Do not buy from K&N. Their customer service lies about when things are shipped in order for you not to be able to cancel. I mean cmon... UPS tracking tells you everything. How are you going to tell me an order left your warehouse at 4am but then UPS doesn't receive notification of the shipment until 7:30pm???? Outright lies. Then they promised to cancel and refund order next day... which did not happen until I emailed again to complain. Finally got refunded and company had to pay UPS to intercept... intelligence is not their strong suit. Save yourself the trouble and if you're going to to buy their products, buy it from your local store that you trust. And FYI, most engines that are naturally aspirated do not gain anything from installing a mass-air filter without proper tuning. Their is an appropriate fuel to air ratio for max combustion and when you add more air, you need more fuel... so unless your a tuner, stick with your paper filter. read more

got the K&N intake for my 2008 HHR. the kit and parts look great and well built. until I tried to put the lid on the filter box. It did not fit right. the box and lid were the right ones, but the box had a ledge on the back that stopped the lid from fitting. it needs to be carefully cut off so the lid will slide back into place. I am going to call them tomarrow before I trim that piece off to make sure that wont hurt my warranty. everything else is great. I just dont understand why they dident catch that flaw. its just the ledge at the back of the box that the lid folds down to. read more

Three years ago I bought a complete K&N air intake systemn at Redlands Auto Electric for approx. $500. Today my truck failed to pass the smog test because the system does not meet CARB(Calif Air Review SBrd.)standards. The smog tech thought that the system may not even be the correct for my truck. I called K&N, who told me that they would send me a decal that might qualify the system for CARB standards if I took pictures of the system, sent them a copy of my purchase documents, and some other stuff. I called the Chevrolet dealer, and they immediately told me that is common or K&N equipment to cause the vehicle to fail. Now I am paying the dealer another $3-400 to put my truck back the way it was originally. What a ripoff! I will never, ever use another K&N product. read more

If you folks have never tried K&N air filters on your vehicles you should. Reason being; I recently worked on my motorcycle and was cleaning the air filter. I noticed the filter was damaged and wrote the company to see if they would replace it. It does have a life time warranty. I didn't have a receipt as I'd lost it 5 years ago. Long story short, they replaced the filter at no cost including shipping. That is customer service. Go and buy a filter today. read more
