If I'm going to shorten my lifespan because of my food choices... well, the food has to be worth it. And some of what I ordered here today fell short. I came here based on the rave reviews from fellow Yelpers but wasn't quite impressed as I thought I'd be... I ordered a variety of different dishes to share: Reg Fried Rice Reg Noodles Side of Garlic Chicken (5pc) Side of Steamed Pork Hash (8pc) Side of Corned Beef Hash One scoop of Mac Salad Fried Rice - looks plain and bland but it was actually well seasoned and one of the better dishes I enjoyed. Noodles - Texture was on point and I love chewy thin noodles... but it lacked in flavor, even after I added some bit of the spicy oil sauce it came with. The Char Siu pieces added to the flavor but couldn't save this dish. Garlic Chicken - Flavor was definitely there but it was really tough to bite into; fried pieces were stale... like it had been sitting under a heat lamp all morning, so it was chewy like tough jerky... Steamed Pork Hash - This was exactly what one could expect; a little salty but tender. I like to dip mine in Hot Mustard, which they do have if you ask. There is a fried Pork Hash option, but I didn't want to send myself to diabetes land with all the choices I made today. Corned Beef Hash - this was on the thicker side and tough to cut in half... had to use a serrated knife to take a piece, whereas at other places, it was tender enough to use a fork. Mac Salad - Nice and creamy but a bit pricey for one scoop There is a teeny parking lot on the left of the walk up window. But if it had been filled, finding parking in this area would be tricky. It's not a sit down restaurant so expect it's takeout only. There's a 4% charge for credit card transactions so bring cash, if you want to give this place a try. Overall, I didn't have the experience I was hoping for... the portions are huge but my meal was a bit lackluster. I might give this place one more chance but I don't really come down here and made the trip, just to try the food at this place. Meh. read more

Love K&K Kitchen. Can't go wrong with anything you pick here as it's comfort food at its finest. I'll start with their garlic chicken. Most places make a good sauce so that to me isn't what makes it stand out. It's the quality of the chicken-no knuckles and odd pieces of meat. They are made with thigh meat, are boneless with some skin. It's the perfect balance for people like me that still want the yummy goodness from the fat and crispiness but rip off the skin... I know for many, the fried skin is the best part... haha... but it's just not healthy! Anyway, you get these perfectly fried, crispy and sauced garlic chicken balls. They are good sized, larger than a golf ball, and you get 10+ pieces! Portions here are great! I also picked up the noodle and chicken thigh (which is also fried with bone) and an eight piece pork hash. Love a good Chinese thin noodle. There were large slices of Char Siu on the noodle too. Score! Pork hash was average+ and on the "plainer" side, but again, no mystery meat or weird crunches so it's all good with me! All items were delicious, and I will be coming back. This hole in the wall has a lot of cheap eats with really big portions. I ended up getting the bento that comes with fried rice, 2 pieces of bacon, 2 eggs, and 4 big pieces of garlic chicken. I occasionally come here when I am driving by, this time I stopped by for breakfast because I was hungry. I happened to get the "B" breakfast special which includes 2 Eggs, 2 strips of Bacon, 2 Portuguese Sausage slices and 2 Slices of Spam over a bed of rice for a reasonable price of $6.75. Well it is hard to screw up breakfast except maybe for the Eggs... Any way to make the story short the Sunny Side up eggs (Because thats the way I wanted them) were perfect and of course everything else was great too. parking is usually very limited maybe two stalls open if anything usually none. but you can pull right up and park for a short time in front which is usually open. it is a small Kitchen but they provide a good assortment of plate lunches and even have a Lunch Wagon that usually frequents the east side and Saturdays near Roosevelt High School. read more

I'm not even sure how I stumbled upon this place but I'm glad I did. I was looking for some cheap eats because inflation has been hurting my wallet. I saw they were selling breakfast plates around $8 and I was sold. I called in my order on a Saturday morning and was told it would take 10-15 minutes. The only downside to this place is that there's zero parking. Luckily, my boyfriend was able to drop me off. If I was driving by myself, I'm not sure where I would've parked. We ordered the garlic chicken special which comes with fried rice, 2 eggs and 2 strips of bacon along with the deluxe breakfast B. First of all, the portions are HUGE. I wasn't able to finish my deluxe breakfast and my boyfriend didn't even look like he made a dent into his garlic chicken special. They gave so much fried rice and it's packed with stuff like char sit, fish cake, etc. As for the garlic chicken, it was one of the best garlic chickens I ever had. Both of us had leftovers for the next morning. This truly is a hidden gem, tucked away in Kalihi. I hate writing negative reviews but what can you do when you're not satisfied with what you had hoped for ? I ordered the "LUNCHEON MEAT" when I got it the meat was definitely not a luncheon meat, it tasted like "HAM" there are differences between the two meats. For $8.50 could've given 4pcs of meat instead of 3 Wanted my eggs over medium but it was still on the runny side. There are lots of the meal specials on paper taped to the inside window as well as a daily very affordable menu inside. I went with the breakfast special around $6.50 + $1.25 to add fried rice ( fried rice had good flavor and bits of char siu and luncheon meat) 2 bacon..2 portugese sausage and one spam with two eggs and alot of rice. I was a little apprehensive because i was the only customer there but then again its all takeout so of course nobody sticks around plus it was like 1:30 pm a slow time for most places. Cheap food, establishment was clean, service fast (3 orders ahead of me, waited about 5 minutes after ordering). The fried rice isn't like Mitsuken or Mitsuba's so don't order it thinking that's what you'll get. Bacon wasn't crispy, egg was cooked perfectly.
