Can't recommend Just Walk enough. We have a small chihuahua/dachshund mix who can be pretty aggressive with other dogs. I interviewed several agencies for the job and most of them were large companies with a rotating cast of dog walkers/sitters that couldn't guarantee the same person would see my dog every visit. Keep in mind you're giving these people a key to your house, your worldly possessions and most importantly, your baby (dog, that is). I found Just Walk to be convenient, efficient, customer- and dog-friendly, affordable, and professional. I started using Just Walk a few months ago. Keith is our regular dog walker, and he's very kind, friendly, and professional. Keith was able to easily fit our dog into his schedule so that the dog can keep going out at around the same time he does when I am home. Keith also does all the little things that help a dog owner rest assured that the dog is okay being left alone for the rest of the day (refilling water, putting out a new Kong treat). I went to Just Walk because I was previously using one of the larger companies in the area and I wasn't really happy with the customer service I received. Keith always uses full sentences to answer my emails, responds to notes I might leave (e.g., dog is on a new medication), and texts photos of my dog out and about. I feel less anonymous with him than I did with the other company, so I am very happy with how things are going with Just Walk. read more

Just Walk is by far the best dog walking company out there. It's intimate, personal and you can feel how much they care about your dog. My main dog walker is Meg. I met Meg a few years ago and we have become very close pen pals, she makes sure to leave notes, emails and pictures for me and my husband to see! There is nothing better than receiving a picture of your pup while at work. She always looks happy and very well taken care of. I can also ask Meg any question about my pup and she will either have an answer for me or do research and get back to me. She lets me know if there is anything out of the ordinary with her or if she think that I have to feed her rice for her upset stomach. Among many examples. My dog absolutely loves her and trusts her which is so important. Meg and the Just Walk company is very accommodating and flexible in a way where you can call, email or text any last minute schedule changes and they will help you out. If you are late coming home from work, they will make sure that if you need a second walk during the day- they can make that happen. Meg also cleans my dogs ears and has sleep overs (boarding) when necessary! I trust her and the entire team at Just Walk! I couldn't be more grateful for Meg and my family calls her our "life-saver" because that is what she is. Needless to say, I highly recommend this company with your pet! read more

Just Walk has been giving our dog, Roscoe daily walks since we moved to DC in 2014. They're extremely reliable and treat Roscoe like he's part of their family. They've never missed a walk and frequently accommodate last minute changes to the schedule. We moved last fall and I accidentally gave Bee a bad key so she got locked out of my place with Roscoe after their walk. Bee notified me of the problem and Kotu came over to hang out with Roscoe for the rest of the afternoon until I could get home from work. They routinely go above and beyond - sending texts when they notice Roscoe isn't feeling well or just sending cute photos or videos from the day. I enjoy reading the daily notes Meg leaves us and seeing the photos she frequently sends. All of the Just Walk walkers we've had over the years have been wonderful and super easy to work with. We've moved twice in the last 4 years and I'm so glad we've been able to stay with Just Walk! read more

Meg and Just Walk are a phenomenal bunch! I've been entrusting my 10 year old Rhodesian Ridgeback, Tor, to Meg's care for almost five years and couldn't be happier. Just Walk has been providing cat care for me for a few years now and they are super wonderful. With a previous cat with health issues, they were very adept at administering shots and watching for signs of any physical distress and would keep me in the loop while I traveled. With my current young cat, they provide her with lots of play time when they stop by for visits so that she is relaxed and content when I get back. I wish I could give 6 stars to an outfit like Just Walk. The short review is: they care for your animals as much as you do, and provide invaluable peace-of-mind knowing that your fur babies are getting personal and compassionate attention. It is probably important to note that Just Walk is a Co-op, so the employees have a vested interest in developing long-term ongoing relationships with clients, and that shows. If you want more detail, read on. If not, just give them a call, you won't regret it, especially in the Shaw/Bloomingdale area. A year ago, we got a great dane puppy and a bengal kitten. We tried other walkers, but were a little disappointed with the level of service. We met with Kotu, and were immediately drawn to him because of his very obvious excitement and interest in our animals. In the beginning, our pup couldn't even go out because his shots were not complete, but Kotu would come over and spend plenty of time playing with him, multiple times a day, helping our puppy and kitten get used to each other and continuing the training we were working on. It was clear that Kotu cared about our little guys as much as we did. One of the most impressive aspects of this organization is that they really go out of their way to keep clients satisfied. We both travel for work, and so Kotu would stay at our house when we were gone. But they are in high demand, and there were times when Kotu would have multiple clients who wanted overnights. Over the course of a year, there was not a single time when the Just Walk team did not find a solution. One of the owners, Meg, has covered for him (and our animals loved her as much as Kotu), along with others. If it was someone who had not spent much time at our place, Kotu would bring them over (at no cost), show them around the house, explain the routines, the animal's personalities, etc. Above and beyond the level of effort that most organizations would put in. Over the past year, there have been times that our dog or cat were not feeling well, had injuries, etc. Kotu was always very communicative about what was going on, and always coddled them the same way we would have. I never once worried that they were not being treated like precious cargo, and people would repeatedly comment about how happy our dog was when he came to the park with Kotu. In the end, I can sum it up with one anecdote: my wife was walking our dog (115 lbs), and they happened to see Kotu on the street. She said that he has never pulled so hard, and she has never seen him so excited to great another human. That is exactly what you want from a dog walker/care giver, and that peace-of-mind is something we will miss when we move! read more

Shira at Just Walk was essential to our dog's successful adjustment to our home. We adopted Ginger when she was an adult, not knowing very much about her past. Shira came over for our "meet and greet" on the day we brought Ginger home, and has been a huge help to our family ever since. Ginger recently had puppies and has gone through a lot of medical issues and other changes in the past few months. Having Shira help with walking has been essential in our efforts to keep Ginger on a routine, despite irregular schedules. Ginger is always so happy on days Shira comes over, and I can tell Ginger loves her by her excitement when we run into Shira outside. I really appreciated that Shira was patient with us when our schedules changed, and didn't judge us for being neurotic pet-parents. My husband never had a dog (I have, but never in a small apartment), so we were really concerned about Ginger's well being. Shira didn't seem to mind us asking if she thought Ginger seemed alright when she was there, and even put up with the week we thought baby-monitoring software might be a good idea (it really wasn't necessary). I also appreciate that Shira walked Ginger without other dogs. I see a lot of dog walkers around the city walking eight or more dogs, and it never looks like a good time for anyone. I feel better knowing Ginger is getting some attention in addition to exercise. We will really miss Shira now that she's leaving, but I trust Just Walk because of how awesome Shira was to us. Our emails interactions with everyone else at Just Walk have also been positive.
