Jackie is amazing. Literally the ONLY person I have ever had total peace of mind leaving our pet care to when we go out of town. She sends photos and updates so I am able to completely relax knowing the fur kids are ok. Not only is she great with healthy pets and RELIABLE but she also helped us with our "special needs kitty" Mabel. We've now had Jackie as our pet sitter for over a year and multiple week+ long trips and she always takes great care of our sweet kitty. Before we chose Jackie, we also debated about also boarding our cat. After doing research, we discovered that boarding her could cause her anxiety by taking her out of her home environment, and expose her to other animals' illnesses and pathogens. For those reasons we chose a cat sitter instead of boarding. Jackie does a fabulous job of taking care of our Lana while we are away, and we will continue to use her services as long as we live in DC. read more

I'm not sure how this company could ever receive 5 stars and/or get repeat business. I am thoroughly disappointed in the service they provided. I would have messaged them immediately after returning from my trip but I spent an entire day cleaning my apartment. The place was an absolute pig sty. I understand cleaning isn't part of their job description, but holy hell how lazy can you be? Let me begin with an incident involving some tablets my cats got into. A friend of mine stopped in to check on my cats between District Pet Care's visits and sent me a picture of an open bag of tablets the cats got in to. When I found out about this potential emergency I called Tori. She never answered and never returned my call. I then messaged her and she forwarded my message to Jackie. Rather than messaging me or calling me directly to resolve it, Jackie responded in the portal. I was in training in CO, so the portal wasn't ideal for communicating at the time. Rather than apologizing, Jackie turned it around on me for not messaging her in the portal and she came up with some excuse for why the cat food was left out (that was a separate issue). In addition, there was cat food scattered around my apartment, my carpet has food stains on it, and there was throw up everywhere (I told them not to leave too much food down b/c one cat will eat too much and throw up). It's clear to me they were lazy while feeding them and did not listen to my feeding instructions. Here are my other complaints: 1) I came home and the blinds were left open after I told them not to leave them open 2) It smells like pee back by the bathroom and they decided the solution would be to just leave the fan on 3) The toilet bowl brush was covered in litter and shit water and it's holder was full of shit water. Why would you return a person's things in worse condition than when you received them??? 4) They got a new roll of toilet paper and didn't even take the old roll off the holder, they just sat the new roll on the toilet 5) One cat is constipated and having trouble going poop. He has a motility disorder and we told them not to let him have too much dry food. When I returned from my trip I found SO MUCH dry food down on the floor and now I understand how this could have happened. In general, they did a half-ass job and it surely showed. I don't recommend them and I'll never use them again. read more

Jackie is amazing. I can't say enough good things about her. She has looked after my two elderly cats for almost a year, and I fully trust her with their care. Both cats require daily meds and Jackie was able to pill them effortlessly and effectively the first time she came over (one is very difficult to pill). That first interaction truly helped put my mind at ease, and I knew I was leaving my cats in the hands of an experienced, caring pet sitter. Jackie is always quick to respond to my requests and is very accommodating. Even if she can't support my full request, she will make every effort to work with me to ensure my cats get care while I am traveling. My fiance and I recently hired Jackie to help with walking our 10 month old labradoodle who is naturally more fearful. We've done a ton of work with our puppy to get her confidence up and to create positive associations with the realities of daily life living in downtown DC. We worried for a very long time about being able to find help that understood our pup's sensitivities and could help us walk her without doing more damage, and I am SO happy to say that we have found that in Jackie! I can't say enough great things about Jackie. She is a fantastic pet sitter. She spends time with my cats, plays with them and cares for them, including giving shots to one of them (not always an easy task!).
