We used Wagamuffin for about a year. There were no alarming issues, but I would not recommend this service as there are better dog walkers in the area. After using Wagamuffin for a few months, we were prompted to find a different dog walker after two separate individuals in the neighborhood pulled me aside and voiced concern about how unhappy our puppy seemed during his walks. Both individuals felt conflicted sharing this information, but witnessed this on more than one occasion, and as fellow dog owners felt that they should at least let me know. I'm so glad that they did. Although the dog walkers through Wagamuffin showed up as scheduled, and adapted to any cancellations, they were not being kind to our dog during his walks - which explains why he would hide if we were home when the dog walker came. We found a dog walker in the area who was a better match for our puppy - someone that truly loved his dogs, treated them with more care, and exceeded our expectations of service. And, it was remarkable how at ease our dog became and how excited he was to see his new walkers. My advice would be, if you're in a crunch, Wagamuffin is okay. But, if you're looking for someone to really love your dog, look elsewhere. read more

I don't need regular services, but I was referred to Carla and Wagamuffin through some friends who use her walking services regularly. I needed a walker recently, and dropped the ball on timing. I completely forgot to book my walker till the week before. Because I don't use a walker normally, I was a little nervous about how my pup would be with someone new. He can be really shy sometimes. Carla and Susi were really understanding, and Susi came by before our first walk to meet with Mac (dog) and get to know him. She stayed around 30 min so that Mac could get used to her. She took Mac on several mid-day walks that week, and consistently texted me to let me know how the walk went and even sent me pics of Mac during the day. I last minute added a second dog for a few days b/c I was pup sitting, and this was no issue at all. The price point is also very reasonable given the area. $16 for a walk is about average for Dupont Circle, so I was totally fine with that. Plus they do online payments which means i don't have to worry about cash/checks. Overall, I really appreciated the patience and responsiveness of Carla and Susi. They made sure I was comfortable with them as walkers and Mac loved Susi once he got used to her. I'd definitely recommend Wagamuffin and will use them any time I need a walker. read more

Carla and her team at Wagamuffin are absolutely fantastic. They have been walking my pup since she was 10 weeks old and they are incredibly reliable, flexible, and very reasonably priced. They have never missed a walk and any time I have had a last minute scheduling change and need to either cancel or add a walk, Carla is exceptionally responsive and always takes care of me. They make everything easy and they are truly a pleasure to work with. I cannot recommend Wagamuffin enough. They are superb! read more

I just started using Wagamuffin and am impressed so far. My pup is difficult with new people but Wagamuffin made an extra effort to make him comfortable and it's been working out great. They obviously love dogs a great deal. They're very flexible with changing plans and schedules. Plus I feel like the price point is reasonable- it's not a bargain but it's fair given that they purchase insurance. The staff are very nice and I have several neighbors who use them as well. I would recommend Wagamuffin to anyone without hesitation. The one, and I mean one and only detractor that keeps me from giving them total stars is that they don't send regular invoices each month, it's basically whenever they get around to it, which can be somewhat of an inconvenience. read more

We used Wagamuffin for daily walks with our two older dogs. The whole team at Wagamuffin is spectacular - they are always responsive, attentive, efficient, and always in close communication with clients via their app. Our dog walker, Michael, was truly fantastic - his daily funny updates described our dogs to a T, and the pictures he sent us of the dogs brightened up our day. I can't say enough good things about Wagamuffin and my walkers, Ronald & Brian. They love my dog, Fletcher, so much. But that's not unique as I know they truly love every dog they care for. I was a pretty tough customer at first as I didn't know anyone at Wagamuffin (though they came very highly recommended). I asked lots of questions and was so nervous! Now, I consider Ronald a part of my family. Wagamuffin (and specifically Ronald & Brian) are the only non-family members with keys to my home; I trust them implicitly. They text or call me if they are worried about Fletcher if he is sick, are often on call for last-minute walks if I'm running late from work, and often keep Fletcher while I'm away on business travel or for the weekend. They are calm, caring, kind, dependable and very thoughtful. You can't choose a better company or people to look after and walk your dog. read more

Why I haven't written a review earlier is on me. The Wagamuffin team has helped our family for about three years. I can't say enough about how much I love them. The women who run the team--Carla and Susi--are amazingly helpful. And the man that walks our dog--Morris--is such a great guy. Not only do they love my dog, but they take care of our cats (beyond what we ask of them) when they visit the house. On top of that, they are incredibly responsive and even go as far as texting us cute pictures of our dog out on a walk. I couldn't gush enough about how much I LOVE THEM. Morris is our dog's best friend/dog walker. (To be honest, I think she loves him more than me.) To be clear, she does not like many people. She typically growls at men and she is who many would call a "problem dog." He has broken through her walls and she loves him and he loves her. (I've seen it.) Anyway, I couldn't recommend Wagamuffin more. To be concise: I love them. Choose them. They are the best. You can't go wrong. read more

I have used Wagamuffin for over a year and the experience has been extremely frustrating. First, I will say that Ronald, the dog walker, is fabulous with my dog, especially with socializing her with other dogs. Carla and Susi are also very responsive and flexible with last minute requests. That said, there have been issues that I felt were managed poorly (heartfelt apologies only go so after the incidents start to add up). Additionally, they seemed quite forgetful when it came to communicating messages between me and the dog walker. It would've been nice if I could contact him directly. The most glaring incident was when I came home to find that my dog could barely walk and was limping along. I immediately took her to the vet and spent over $600 to find out what happened. I later found out from Wagamuffin that she had a incident on her walk and they FORGOT to tell me! The story of how my dog's injury occurred also did not make any sense (even the doctor said so). To their credit, they reimbursed all the expenses through their insurance. A minor, but still annoying issue, was that they broke several of my poop bag dispensers. Apparently, I learned later on they had trouble using them, but never asked me about them - they just kept breaking them! They also took my dog for a walk when I did not have a walk scheduled. Another recurring issue is that they consistently forgot to lock my door. The door locks automatically behind you so I never really understood what the problem was. This is also another example of when management forgot to relay my message to Ronald about the lock, which only further contributed to the issue. I asked to meet with Ronald in person to show him how to lock my door but this request was never honored. This issue was ultimately the straw the broke the camel's back. After complaining to them about this yet again last week, they decided to drop me as a client. I have used their services 3-5 times a week for over a year. Despite the frustrating issues that occurred over the past year, I had continued to work with Wagamuffin because it was in the best interest of my dog - she liked Ronald and I did not want to disrupt her routine. It kinda blows my mind that they would rather drop a high-frequency client rather than figure out how to fix some of these silly issues - like locking my door! Just something to think about when hiring a dog walker. If you are comfortable with some miscommunication and having your door unlocked all day long, then they will likely meet your needs. But if you are a stickler for locking your door and making sure messages get relayed to your dog walker, I suggest looking elsewhere. read more

I've used Wagamuffin for over a year for weekly walks for my dog, and I'm so grateful for the great service and their clear love of dogs. The walkers are extremely reliable and always leave a little note about the walk. On hot days they make sure my dog has water at home even though that's not a required part of the walk. Wagamuffin has been taking care of my dog for several years now and I have never had a problem. This is in direct contrast with other services I've used previously where walkers were unreliable or irresponsible. My dog is a rescue and she needs to get to know you before she decides if it is OK to be friends. Wagamuffin staff were incredibly patient with her needs and fears; as a result, my dog really has grown to enjoy her walks. I travel for business and my dog has never been into the cageless boarding or kennel situation. Wagamuffin staff have pet-sit my dog in their homes, which has turned out to be much less stressful for my dog (and for me). My dog actually comes home from "vacation" very relaxed! Wagamuffin's prices are very reasonable for the services provided - they don't nickel and dime you for things like feeding or administering medications. Only once in a year did they run late to walk my pup and they let me know as soon as they could. I've been lucky enough to have Wagamuffin walk my dog for about a year now. I had a poor first experience with a dog-walker. I was concerned it was an issue with my dog and not the walker. I addressed the issue with Carla and she was great and didn't seem to have a bit of concern. I've never had a complaint about my dog from her or the dog walkers. They take the time to socialize the dogs, and make sure everyone is getting along. I get notes about how the walk was and how she did. Its comforting for you to know your dog is in really great hands. Its always so nice to come home to a puppy that has been clearly napping the day away after her walk! When we moved to this neighborhood we were sad to be moving out of our old dog walker's jurisdiction. Luckily for us, however, that dog walker turned out to be terrifically knowlegable about the DC dog walking scene and recommended that we call Wagamuffin. We've since used their service regularly for walking and occasionally for pet sitting and could not be happier. We've been using Wagamuffin for our Great Dane puppy for several months and have been very happy. Carla and Susi have been very responsive the few times I have had last-minute changes or cancellations. They were flexible when my then 3-month-old pup needed a one-hour window for walking and a midday feeding. I completely trust Gaby, our dog-walker, in our house and like that she leaves notes and that I can leave notes for her. One time our pup got sick and made a huge mess, so I was really impressed when Susi not only called me right away but had already cleaned up the puppy and the mess by the time we spoke. I have been a client of Wagamuffin Pet Care for a little over a year now and the experience has been wonderful. Lucky for me it was the first dog walking company I heard about through word of mouth in my building after moving to the District. My dog Piper can be a bit of a goober sometimes but Carla, Ronald, and Evelyn have handled it all -- cleaning up after him when he's had an accident in the house, keeping him out longer when he hasn't gone #2 in the morning, returning later in the day to walk him when on their first attempt he's feeling ornery and barking, etc. Plus, they always remember to put his coat on when it's cold, never forget to leave the light on, and Carla will even call when Piper's not feeling well so I know what's going on. Wagamuffin has been wonderful to my very shy and recently rescued jack russell terrier mix, Eleanor Roosevelt. Despite having a shaky start with a dog walker who was not the best match for Eleanor, Wagamuffin worked with me to find a great fit for Eleanor, Patrice. Patrice has been very patient with Eleanor and keeps me posted on how Eleanor is doing. We seriously do not understand how Wagemuffin manages to get positive reviews and stays in business. We used a dog walker for many years, who was like our pet's second mother. Sadly, she left DC and recommended Wagamuffin. The agreement with Wag's owner was that the dog's routine remained the same as it had been for many years. He went to play at a house with two other dogs. Wagamuffin owner, Carla, agreed to this arrangement. However, after many weeks, I found out from the neighbors that in fact that dog was never going to the designated house. Instead, Carla took it upon herself to take the dog elsewhere, without consulting us and all the while lying that he was being taken on his old routine. When I confronted, Carla, she informed me that she and her dog walker had decided on their own to take the dog to another place. I became suspicious when, several times when I happened to be at home, my dog ran from the walker and refused to go with him. Who would trust such an agency to take one's beloved pet to places unknown each day? Furthermore, who would want to give such an agency that cannot be trusted access to their house each day? It is obvious that Wagamuffin thought it was more profitable for the walker to take the dog where they chose, despite our agreement. I have a small dog and never want him walked with large dogs. How do I know where he is being walked every day and with whom? This is complete evidence of false business practices. I do not think anyone should trust Wagamuffin with their pet or allow them access to one's house. read more
