As for this place the name definitely resonates with the smell of the food. When it comes to seafood I like to order mines fresh so I never call it in. However, in this case it would not have made any difference.... I walked in and the place is very small with just two tables with high chairs and a bit run down vibe. They literally just cut a hole in the wall. As for the smell not fresh and lastly the food... I ordered fried whiting with a side of sweet potato fries. The fries were extremely soggy and smelled Frank. The fish smelled sour and fishy in a bad way. I waited a long time for my food just for the lady to ask me what did I order again... Excuse me, what? I was standing not sitting for almost 20 minutes. That was some of the worst seafood I seen in my life. I could not eat it and I refuse to go back even to tell them how bad their food really was. read more

Jus Fishy - Fish & Chips Near Me - Brooklyn, New York

I called in the order and the food was ready when I stopped in to get it. The food was delicious. I would try again.

Jus fishy is anything BUT "just fishy." I was introduced to this place actually by my mom! She found it through groupon deals near our hotel. We used the $30 for 15 deal, so we paid $15 for a $30 store spending amount. So worth because each plate is around $12. I'm glad we decided to get it because it was oh so worth it for A LOT of delicious food! For the plate, you get to choose one protein and two sides I think. We got steamed shrimp With rice and corn. And another type of fish with sweet potatoes and corn. Each plate also comes with mixed veggies. I just want to take this moment to rave about their bomb white sauce! I don't know what's in it but that concoction is literally the best thing ever. Be sure to ask for extra if you can! We still needed to spend a few more to reach the $30 mark so we ordered their banana peanut punch. It's soooo good! The lady (who is the owner, I think) made too much so she poured the excess into another cup for my mom to drink. Props for that!! The store is very tiny. There's literally enough seating for two people to dine in on high top chairs. There are two other chairs but not enough table space. Be sure to order in advance and just pick up your food to enjoy at home! Man, I wish I was a local. I'd come here so much. The food is a bit pricey but it's seafood so what do you expect. You really can't go wrong with any of the fishes. Just pick what you prefer. And the seasoning, everything was just on point. I miss this place. read more

Jus Fishy - Steam jumbo shrimp with Okra & Sweet Plantain - Fish & Chips Near Me - Brooklyn, New York

+++ - seafood tastes fresh ++ - I like the grilled products over fried, they don't feel too salty - The wife enjoys the salmons dishes - I'm a fan of the sweet potato fries and plantains - - The lack of service here is comical TIPS: - Call ahead and expedite your wait time - The place is too small to eat in - You can bring your food to Delroy, two blocks away on Flatbush and Fenimore, and enjoy some wine with your meal read more

I stopped in the middle of my meal to write this... So you know it's real... Salmon burger is unlike any I've ever had!! It features chunks of salmon (not minced like other places) with grilled onions and pineapple which adds an amazing flavor kick. Sweet potato fries are good, but BETTER with garlic sauce (which I'm convinced has crack in it). Problem: wait time is about 20-30 mins and they are not the most welcoming folks. Solution: order over the phone, walk in 30 mins later, pay, walk out with extra garlic sauce like a boss!! read more

Jus Fishy - Salmon burger*Sweet Potato fries - Fish & Chips Near Me - Brooklyn, New York

Well hot damn! There's a great fish restaurant in my new neighborhood! What's with the name though? I could see "Jus Fish" or "Just Fish". Seriously, who the hell thinks that cute or stands out? Jus Fishy is actually very polished looking for the area, but only has 1 table inside that you can eat at, some it's essentially take out only. Problem there is that the food takes forever to be ready. Allow for a 1/2 hour and you'll be good. Luckily the reason it takes so long is that the fish is cooked fresh to order, and they really know how to cook fish. Fish are available grilled, fried or baked. They range from red snapper to whiting to shark. I've only had the grilled shark thus far; it has a texture like salmon and a flavor that seems like a richer version of halibut. A grilled portion, while only $10, is basically enough for 2 meals. It will be perfectly seasoning and moist as well. Remember that scene in Wolf of Wall Street where they talk about the sides? Not sure if they cure cancer but they are pretty good and there's a lot of them. The cabbage, broccoli, and califlower were all good, while the sweet potatoes were just alright. They're also perpetually out of rice, so don't have your heart set on that. Given the somewhat limited food options in the neighborhood, Jus Fishy--weird name aside--is more or less essential. read more

I write this as my stomach is about to explode from fullness and happiness. It was late and Jus Fishy was one of the places in the neighborhood open at 9:15pm. Walked over and ordered a grilled salmon with steamed sweet potato and the woman suggested cabbage, broccoli or cauliflower. I went with cabbage. Some time passed, she asked me what I ordered. Maybe they missed my order? It's 9:47pm, I AM GETTING HANGRY. Finally my order is ready 5mins later and rather than being pissed I asked nicely "does the food usually take this long?" and she said "yes, it does. If it's fried then it'll be ready in no time but because it's grilled fresh that's how long it takes to prepare and also if there are other orders called in before yours then it takes longer. it's better to call in your order" okay, fine. She gave me the full assortment of sauces - 2 containers of garlic sauce, a lemony slightly spicy sauce, another sauce that was HELLA spicy probably just minced chili peppers, and a pack or tartar. Get home, open the box, massive beautifully grilled crusty salmon on a BED of sides. WHAAAT. First bite of the sweet potato. First thought: BUTTER. YASSSSS. The cabbage was also flavorful and not overcooked. The salmon was really moist and grilled with a nice char - dipped in the citrus sauce was güd. The garlic sauce was good too but now I want to order sweet potato fries just so I can dip it into the garlic sauce. So much for eating healthy. I was only able to finish half the food before rolling myself over to my laptop to write this review. Can't believe it's only $12 for such a generous portion at such good quality. It would be nice if they told you it'd be a 30min wait when you order so you don't pass out from hunger but that's why you read yelp reviews first (I failed). I would knock a star off because of the wait but they're grillin it fresh and it's SO good, just call it in! read more

Jus Fishy - Grilled salmon with sweet potato and cabbage - Fish & Chips Near Me - Brooklyn, New York

I guess this neighborhood is called Prospect Lefferts Gardens now, which I was not aware of cause I call it Flatbush lol. But I came here on the recommendation of a good friend of mine. He said their fish and chips and the shark was good. After hear shark, I was in the shark kind of mood. I ordered the shark burger. The toppings were so good and complimented the dish. I will come back to try the crab burger. So when you rate or when I rate a restaurant. Not only is the quality of the food factored into the equation but the staff and the overall appearance. The cashier or server who greeted me was very friendly and though it seemed like he didn't like to talk much he made suggestions for my rather indecisive self. SInce the restaurant is new, it does appear to be lacking in term of, for me, looking like a restaurant but with time I know that will improve. This neighborhood is on the up and coming and I am confident that it will survive! read more

I really love this place !!! They have been around for a while but I think they opened up two years ago not sure ! I am glad they are open though ! I really would prefer to come here and get a veggie burger then to go any where else and it's healthy ! The guy that runs the place is also very friendly ! & cool! The place is kinda small but just call ahead or be prepared to wait a little ! * There is this white sauce that comes with the veggie burger idk what's in it but it taste soooooooo good * I usually get a veggie burger w plantain and a solo or punch but I might switch up soon and get sweet potato fries ! Food tastes good but that service is horrendous. Wait was forever, there's no real organization in there, and the service is poor. Also if you're thinking about the carrot punch don't bother. It was so sandy, not well blended, and bland. Not even a hint of carrot. Really high expectations, but ended up a little disappointed. read more

I CANNOT ! It's astounding that this place serves up consistently tasty seafood and horrendous service. Almost every visit includes witnessing someone leaving without their order after an extensive wait. Waiting a minimum of 45 minutes (usually an hour) for one order of french fries and a salmon burger? Being ignored when politely asking how long the wait might be 30 minutes in (I wanted to run an errand if the order wasn't going to come up soon). Not a welcoming or friendly environment. When you go up to the counter the young woman just stares at you like you're about to beg her for spare change. Asking "What are your hours?" and being told "We're closed". This was particularly funny because that's the loudest I've ever heard the young woman at the counter speak. I've been here a lot. I'm patient, I'm loyal, actually just a glutton for punishment but I have had enough. read more

I really love the food here, and the portion sizes are really good for the price. I always get a solid piece of salmon when I order, and they're definitely generous with the sweet plantains (which isn't the case everywhere) but sheesh, their service needs some real improvement. Twice while waiting for a food order to be completed, you could hear them airing their work grievances, always complaining, cursing and raised voices in the back. A serious lack of professionalism in here and long waits for food orders. read more

Food was meh. customer service of course was horrible. They messed up my order after saying it to her multiple times because she was soooo busy doing everything else and we waited forever. Only to get home and the order be wild wrong. I probably wouldn't go back. It's so much great food on that block alone no one has to deal with them and they're mediocre service and food! read more

Found this place via UberEats. Was in the mood for seafood and figured I'd give it a try. I am so happy I did. The amount of well SEASONED food they give you for the price is great. I ordered the tilapia with two sides (Rasta pasta & Mac and cheese). Came up to $11. The Rasta pasta wasn't too creamy or too dry. The Mac and cheese was baked and delicious. The tilapia came with two big pieces resting on top of the sides. The only down side was the wait for it to be delivered. The food was supposed to be here by 8:45 but didn't arrive until 9:23. Because this location is close and the food is good I'll likely walk over and pick up future orders. read more

All I can say is yum yum good. I had the grilled salmon and asked them to add in grilled shrimp and extra veggies. My sides were mixed vegetables and corn. This was my treat to myself. I was tired of cooking and decided to give them a shot. I love the seasoning and healthy taste! . Due to Covid 19 there is only take out which works for me. My order would have been $14 but like I said I wanted the extra shrimp and extra veggies. I paid $23 and I have enough leftovers for another meal! Customer service from the cook and cashier was warm and friendly. This was my first time visiting and I will be back. read more

I went here with my sister, her partner, and my boyfriend. My boyfriend and I loved everything, my sister and her partner were like "meh" I think that's largely because her partner ordered fish and chips which were nothing special. I had cauliflower, yams, and shrimp, and while it was a little pricy for a kinda skimpy shrimp serving, i appreciated that it was clearly fresh and cooked to order, and they used fresh veggies, not cheap rice or frozen veggies to fill the portion. The yams and cauliflower were delicious, and the shrimp was delicious, but like I said, I wish there had been more. I got it steamed, and that's the right choice!! As a side note, they had a new guy working who was really unbelievable...in a bad way. He was completely not interested in working....just talking to people and being kinda sassy, and I highly doubt he'll last long. Also, note that the wait is LONGGGG- about an hour !! read more

A decent spot for seafood. I had shrimp n chips and my friend had grilled salmon, potatoes n broccoli. I ordered through Yelp.... a waste of time. At pick up they asked to reiterate order. Asked for the famous sweet potatoe fries and got got regular fries.... Boooooo! There were 6 shrimp were a nice size, clean and tasty, which is not bad and way too many fries. My friend's grilled salmon was delicious. .. yum. Cooked to perfection. The rude customer experience that other yelpers had was not my experience, thank Goodness. .. the guys were pleasant and tried to be quick. Oh and the garlic sauce was just ok. read more

Listen- DO NOT CONFUSE THIS JUS FISHY WITH JUS FISH AND BEYOND!!!! The latter restaurant is BOOTLEG AS HELL!!!! While THIS Jus Fishy restaurant is EVERYTHANG!!! BAY BAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!! IN A ROW!! THEN GOT MAD ME FOR BEING MAD! And the little ass miniscule amount of shrimp with my sides did NOT a meal make! But at Jus Fishy, you can eat the salmon and make the shrimp you don't eat leftovers for another complete meal. AND DID I TELL YOU HOW BIG THE SALMON WAS? No I didn't did I, so let me tell you. HALF! I COULD ONLY EAT HALF THE SALMON AND HALF THE SHRIMP.....I forced myself to eat all of it because dammit waste not want not and it was damn good. Doesn't matter how good your food is. You don't keep your customers waiting for close to 2.5 hours for their delivery and it's still not here yet. Especially when they have asked to cancel. If you don't have a delivery person available then don't have delivery service available, it's really simple! Foods average but their dipping sauce makes it good. Their sides are what I enjoy most. I wouldn't recommend this place unless you have time to waste. I started out by giving them one star because I was upset my food took about 3 hours to arrive and it wasn't fresh. I end up giving them five stars because the owner apologized and he seemed sincere but also because their sides are so good. So so good. And their hot sauce is amazing! read more

I've never physically been to the store front. I always order on Uber Eats. I love there salmon it's always cooked the way I request it and it's good quality fish as well. Not a fan of the garlic sauce m -- kind of reminds me of garlic salad dressing. I like to switch up the 2 sides that come with the dish but in generally they are usually pretty simply seasonal and mostly tasty. It does have a "healthy" blandish taste to the sides if that makes sense. I will continue to order from here given that I've alway had mostly positive experiences. read more

I must say this place is arguably one of the best hidden gyms in Brooklyn. Now the service is a little hectic when you first step in as it feels like their entire family works their. My food from here was really good. I got shrimp and chips and corn soup. My go to spot on flatbush. Been coming here for like 3 years and i never ordered anything else from here but their salmon. Im obsessed with it that i don't want to betray it for another menu item lol. Grilled salmon with 2 sides for about 15$ and it's good portions. It combines great with broccoli and sweet potatoes. Their white sauce compliments the food so nicely and pepper sauce gives it the right amount of kick when i want it.
