If you like good wines, steer clear of this restaurant. The wine list is very pricey, while most restaurants triple the prices(over retail) their low end wines and double more expensive wines, Juniper also triples their higher cost wines. We had an $180 bottle of wine and it was served at 77 degrees. At least if you are going to overprice your wines, make sure you have a cellar. Their excuse is that they rotate them out. When the owner was approached , he admitted to serving the wine too warm but would do nothing to adjust the price of the bottle. There is plenty of better restaurants in the Valley that know how to treat their customers right! Mirabelle comes to mind as having exceptional food, with a sensibly priced wine list and served at the right temperature. read more

Dizzy and Sam are the most amazing people. I look forward to coming to Juniper to sit at the bar and can expect they will always take care of us. Doug Abel is always attentive and he's the reason we come back. We love you Juniper Staff! You are our forever our top restaurant! read more

This place is horrible. The people who run this restaurant are complete jerks, the food is awful and I think this place should be on the health inspector's radar. I had to get into an argument with the waitress to have my food actually cooked because they want to serve it rare and I want my food actually cooked. The restaurant was horrible overpriced, the owner/manager sometimes will answer the phone and just hang up on you if you ask a question. My friend got food poison after eating here. I wish I could rate this restaurant lower than 1 star. I would say avoid this restaurant at all cost. read more

We have been here multiple times in hopes that it would get better. It hasn't. The food is okay at best. But the staff has always been rude and very stuck up. I will not be going back. read more

I had high hopes for this restaurant for a evening out with some friends. We are not from Edwards and didn't know many places to dine, but his was close to the hotel so we decided to give it a try. The host was marginally friendly, the waitress was less friendly. The noise level in the restaurant was very high, you couldn't hear a person more than a couple of feet away. The reason is that there are far too many tables packed in to too small of a space. The food was average. One in our party said their steak was very good, everyone else said they had eaten better food in this type and style of restaurant. It is not inexpensive. With an appetizer, entree, couple glasses of wine and dessert, you will spend around $100 per person. It just isn't worth that much to eat at this restaurant. A couple of us had some whitefish that as supposed to be stuffed with lump crab and served on a corn relish and shrimp base. The relish was good. The whitefish looked like two white mounds and there was neither much flavor nor lump crab meat in the filling. Just mostly filler and some other type of crab. I won't go back to the Juniper , but I probably won't ever b e in Edwards again either, unfortunately, because it is a friendly, pretty mountain town and worth a visit. read more

Great environment. Calamari was flavorful, but chewy. Good wine list. Halibut was underseasoned. Scallops were well cooked, but needed washing... sandy. Veal scallopni was bland... but filet and short ribs were faaaaaabulous. We got their half price entree night... if it had been full price, I'd be quite disappointed. read more

Came here with a large work group on business and was not disappointed. Service is outstanding and the food is fresh, inventive and tasty. I wasn't sure what to make of the 'comfort fusion' concept ahead of time, but in retrospect it all held together. I had the scallops appetizer and the tuna, and both were quite good. Looking around the table, the group seemed pleased with the veal scaloppine and the steak, both of which were more in line with the theme than the direction I took. All in a great spot. I'd come back if I were in town, read more

Tough call on this review. Debated about going to 4 stars based on MY meal. But, other entrees at the table were mostly very mediocre. And, service extremely slow from start to finish. Hamachi special app was very good. Drinks ok. I'd say that another trip there might yield a higher rating when ordering other items from the menu (hopefully, service would be a little quicker) but I don't feel the need to go back until all other restaurants in the area have been tried. read more

This was by far the best meal we had on our stay. Everything on the menu looked outstanding, and generally lived up to expectations. My burratta salad was exceptionally tasty, and the vegetable with my entree had an unexpectedly delicious combination of flavors. My husband's entree was also very tasty, and everyone in our party seemed to thoroughly enjoy their food. Our server was congenial, but the gentleman who brought out the dishes (the manager?) practically radiated negativity. Fortunately we didn't have to actually interact with him. read more

Delicious! Every dish was perfectly executed, knowledgeable waiter, elegant but not overly pretentious restaurant. It is easy to get to and there was plenty of parking. read more

I really enjoyed Juniper in Edwards. Really good restaurant vibe and the food was excellent. I definitely recommend the shishito peppers, arugula and beet salad + their signature dish, the veal scaloppini with angel hair caprese. The only thing holding me back from a 5 star rating was the service. It was a super busy night and so we waited quite a bit to get seated and order our food. But overall a recommend due to the excellent food! read more

They were slammed due to offering discounts for summer, but still got us in after a little wait. The service was very good throughout the meal and everyone loved the food. I had the lamb shank and it was very very tasty. I would definitely recommend. read more

This restaurant in Edwards, Colorado is the Mother Lode of dining. The staff, ambience and food surpass, even the many great dining spots in the Vail Valley. Try it, you will love it. read more

Awesome. A little bit of a drive from Vail main village but totally worth it. Another bonus was that the wine list had reasonable choices compared to other high end Vail restaurants. read more

Love the food and atmosphere here. A little pricey even with 50% off our entrees. We had the duck with beets and farro and filet mignon and short ribs and they were both amazing! We also had the calamari as an appetizer which could not have been any better. The drinks were also a bit on the pricey side, probably to make-up for the discounted entrees. We sat at the bar and even though the place was packed the bartender took great care of us. I wouldn't think twice about going back. read more

Always awesome. The lamb from Colorado is always perfect. I have never had a bad meal there. Sit at the bar for a real locals experience.

Finally, this is THE restaurant to go to when in Beaver Creek or Vail, hands down. We found this gem on our last night in Beaver Creek before the resorts closed for the season. The restaurant is laid out so people are grouped into different large rooms, which breaks down the sound. You can actually have a conversation without shouting. We started with cocktails and these hit the spot. I had the filet and it was cooked to perfection. The sides were wonderful and supported the steak. For a dessert, I chose the Toffee Pudding. I never had this before and OM Goodness, I'm going to be trying to replicate this dish for the holidays. My friend had to stop me from licking the plate! If we had found this restaurant earlier during our trip, we would have eaten then several times. Now we know for the future! Thank you Juniper - Great establishment. read more

We had dinner here and then ordered take-out as well. Amongst the six of us, we ate here thrice and kept coming back. The staff were about as welcoming as we could expect. The food was very good. Wine list is well done, and the staff is quite helpful with wine selections. I had the pork belly appetizer, which was fantastic and ordered the steak/short-ribs combo (twice). The calamari appetizer was a big hit with everyone, though I thought it was overwhelmed with coriander. They had a lamb special the day we went which was very good. The real star though, is the toffee pudding dessert. I don't normally like toffee, but this is something else entirely. Worth driving two hours each way for on its own. read more

Truly excellent. Not cheap but the bone-in ribeye never disappoints. Very nice decor and service. A must visit if you want a nice meal just off of I-70. read more

If you want a 5 star dinner in a causal atmosphere this is the place. Great service , awesome entrees and you have to get the sticky toffee pudding cake ...OMG. We will always go back. read more

Had a wonderful Caesar to start-- served wedge style with dried capers, mmm. Also, they generously split the salad on two thoughtfully prepared plates. For our main courses we had the two house specialties: veal scaloppine and halibut. The veal was wonderful, tender, elaborate in a good way. The halibut was a bit dry, as were the grits beneath. Both dishes were salty. Both were generous portions-- good given the appx. $30 price tags. Dessert was only okay, the molten chocolate cake had a slightly strange texture and wasn't quite gooey enough on the inside. Ambiance: crowd a bit old, environment a bit sterile, service very nice and knowledgable. read more

We have heard about this restaurant for a while now and how perfect it is and now that we went we will definitely be back many times! The rib eye was the best rib eye my boyfriend and I had ever had the pleasure of eating. Along with that our shrimp and grits and kale salad were basically licked off the plate. Highly recommended especially if you're a local that wants to move away from all the corporate owned restaurants in town! read more

This place was perfect for a few cocktails and small plates. We sat at the bar and enjoyed their ravioli and heirloom tomato pizza. Both equally delicious. It was a darker in the restaurant and had a very relaxing mood. read more

I've got some very special guests coming for a weekend in August. One thing I want to do is select the best restaurants to take them to. So, tonight I explored Juniper's. I can say that it was excellent. Everything about it was top notch. As a food blogger, food stylist, and recipe developer, I have a pretty good idea about food. And, the entire experience was perfect. I was able to adjust the entree to my liking, swap out sides and add details about how I'd like the entree prepared. There was simply no problem. The owner was exceptionally gracious. The atmosphere was relaxing. So, yes, you can be assured I will bring my special guests to Junipers for a special evening of food, wine, and relaxation. read more

Had a terrific meal and fun evening with a group of 8. 4th time there. Veal entre super and the favorite of the group. Toffee dessert the other favorite. read more

This was our first time at Juniper and it was so good. Food. Service. Wine list. Ambience - perfect snowy night. New favorite in the valley.

We had an absolutely fantastic meal here last evening! My husband and I like to keep a running lists of he best meals of our entire lives and honestly, this was in the top three (and we live in Denver with plenty of great dining options). The crispy pork belly was out of this world!! Best of all, the portion size is right on- plenty of food to fill you up. Get dessert too, you will NOT be disappointed! read more

Always a great meal: broad, yet focused, menu and a nice wine list with extensive by the glass offerings. Dishes are well prepared, presented and delicious. Aggie begins the bar is always welcoming, as are all the staff. read more

I love this place. On my last visit I had made the reservation incorrectly on Opentable and showed up on a very busy night. The owner went above and beyond to accommodate us and solve the mystery of what went wrong with my booking. The food is consistently delicious, service on point, and the care taken with each customer is unmatched in the valley! read more

I have just returned from Juniper. We came tonight to celebrate my sister-in-law's birthday. We have attended here many times but tonight's dinner was terrible. I ordered the pork chop medium and it came rare. The server never came by to check on how we were enjoying. The chop was rare and had a lot of fat and grisle. Was not prime meat for the HIGH price. No offer was made to make an adjustment to the check. Very, very disappointing. read more

We were just visiting Beaver Creek for a week and Juniper was recommend to us. We had the pork chops and the veal...both were amazing! We will definitely be returning next time we are in the area. read more

So good every time. Great ambiance (reminds us a little of being back in the city), great food, great wine list. Absolutely have to eat here at least once a summer. Staff is always helpful. It's a lively/louder scene, with good energy and scenery. Highly recommend if you can get a reservation! read more

Worst restaurant ever. Juniper is one of the worst restaurants ever. This place makes Denny's seem like a 5 star establishment. The one star I gave them is more then they deserve. ( no option for zero stars) This place reminds me of the soup nazi on Seinfeld show. First of all, the people are very pushy and will make you feel awkward by saying that the chef highly recommends he severs food raw. If you politely ask that you prefer your food cooked, they will get into an argument demanding that it be prepared the way they like it. I may be different on this but I actually enjoy cooked food vs raw food. They will reject your credit card on a whim without even trying to scan the credit card in. I have a specialty American express card which I have used at every restaurant without ever having a problem. When I tried to use it at Juniper they said the manager said they will absolutely not accept it. I asked if they accept American express and they replied, Yes we do accept American express but not your American express. WTF . I asked if they received an error message and they told me that they never even attempted swiped the card. I called American express to ask them what the deal was with the restaurant and they told me that their merchant policy requires that if the Merchant takes American express then they must accept all American express however when they called the manager at Juniper, they said he just hung up on them. Sounds like a real jerk. The food at Juniper taste like a dog was licking your meal before serving it to you. I actually walked by this place in the afternoon while going to a different restaurant across from here. The entire restaurant was filled with clothing hangers on ever square inch. It looks like this place doubles at a laundry storage area in the day time when they are not open. I have heard from many locals that the original chefs have left Juniper because of how poorly they treat people. If you are by the area of Juniper, you can go to the main street grill and get some good food as well with a much less snooty and hostile atmosphere. Save your money and run as far away from Juniper as you possible can. If you are looking for a really good restaurant, I would recommend Spago at the Ritz Carlton. The meal was the best I ever had and they treat you like royalty. read more

Love it!!! Had a fantastic dinner there Sunday night!!!! One of the best restaurants in the Vail valley.

They need to spice it up and change things. The menu is solid, but where is the creativity? Give us more, yes the food is delicous, go for the Veal, but lets see some innovative motivation!! The staff is nice, and very professional. read more

Huh...'greeted' at the door with apathy, seated and waited (and waited) while others were attended to, and then, after ten minutes and still not even a hello or water or anything, we decided to leave. No one seemed to even care. Seems like Juniper would be a great spot to open a restaurant. read more

We went to Juniper two times in the last week. Our First experience was awesome. Food was great, service was great and it was one of the best dining experiences we have had. We returned based on our prior experience and it was as if we went to a completely different restaurant. The waitress got our order completely wrong, the kitchen manager who was helping to expedite the food, had the kitchen replate the food instead of properly re-preparing it so it was cold and not as appetizing as it should have been. The owner was aware of the issue but offered nothing except to endorse the 10% tip for the waitress vs actually taking some accountability for the poor experience. To top it all off, the food was served so quick that we were done with our appetizers and main course in 45 minutes - they rushed us through a dinner that was $55 a head. We tried to relive a great experience and the restaurant went from 5 stars to 1 star in our 2nd visit. read more

Juniper is one in my Steady Eddies! Always a great place to relax, say hi to the owner (Doug) and the friendly bar staff who always remember you! Every dish on the menu is over the top in presentation and flavor. Gotta try the veal scallopini, filet or halibut. Great wine selection and the drinks are a healthy pour. After your meal, don't forget to try one of their killer desserts! Great for a special occasion, date night or a lone meal at the bar! read more

Left the meal "hangry". This was one of the worst dinners I have had in Edwards/Avon area. You would find a better meal at the Burger King on HWY 6. The food was tasteless- from the bread to the entree. The short ribs were overcooked and served without a sauce. Wontons were substituted for potstickers with the yellowfin tuna, which was served with a bland pea puree and a bed of spaghetti noodles soaked in soy sauce. Highly inedible. read more

Single worst dining experience we have ever had. We have been patronizing Juniper for years, but sadly, after tonight, we will never set foot in the restaurant again. The fact that the food was subpar was disappointing but by no means the worst part of the evening. Our complaint is with the service and horrifying treatment on the part of the manager. Without going into too much detail, we were treated like an after thought, one of the courses didn't even arrive (but the manager purposely left it on the bill anyway), and when we went to leave, the manager called us back into the restaurant to accost us for leaving a bad tip. As I write this I am still stunned by the confrontation that transpired. In my experience a tip is given in recognition of outstanding service. When you provide terrible service, you are not entitled to a tip. We gave one any way, but instead of apologizing to us and attempting to correct an unpleasant experience, the manager instead took the route of getting in our faces and, like I said, accosting us. It was abusive and embarrassing to say the least. His behavior was completely devoid of human decency. Not only is this man ill suited for restaurant management, he is ill suited for the service industry period. Juniper, you had a special place in our hearts but after tonight, you are nothing more than a bad memory. To potential patrons, do yourself a favor and take your business elsewhere. read more
