Stopped into Junior's Cafe to meet a friend for breakfast and ordered a half order of biscuits and gravy while I waited. It turned out to be the best biscuits and gravy I've ever had, absolutely phenomenal. I could t save any they were so good. The best ive ever experienced. I had the chicken fried steak and home fries and everything came out fresh and hot. The staff was friendly and attentive and never let my coffee cup get empty. I've been going to the doctor in Mexicali for the past months it's been consistent this time around we wanted hardy breakfast instead of our usual. I'm so glad we checked out this diner. The food was delicious and very affordable and big plates. The gravy was so delicious that was my favorite part. I also liked how the steak was so soft. The waitress was so nice and so was her husband. The diner is so cute and spacious. We will definitely stop by again whenever we're near El Centro. I also love that we did not finish our drinks and they give us cups to go which is a big plus since we had a long drive home. read more

Nice place to stop on the way to Arizona, near Highway 8. It is not right next to the highway, but worth a few minute drive to this place. Friendly spot and a true locals place, with lots of people knowing each other. We settled into an order of huevos rancheros (1/2 order) and a chicken fried steak and eggs breakfast. Both items were solid and hit the spot for covering us on the remainder of the road trip to Arizona. Pretty big parking lot in the back if you don't get one of the prime spaces in front. There is also a backdoor that people use so they don't have to walk all the way around to the front of the building along the street. read more

Well I'm not from the valley but my friend is and we came here for lunch one day. I mean by lunch time this place is packed there's not a seat open in the house. I would give it five stars if I liked unhealthy food. I mean it's definitely home cooked and is fantastic. They had a couple soup options I didn't prefer but my friend got one of them and enjoyed it. I had a turkey sandwich they were happy to add avocado for me the bread was sourdough and it was soft and the sandwich was great but it was a turkey sandwich. They have massive meals with gravy and biscuits and eggs and beans they've got it all so if you're out here in the valley it's a probably a must to stop in for some homestyle grub.. read more

On our way to Arizona, stopped here for breakfast. My husband had the chicken fried steak and eggs, it was delicious. Whatever you do stay away from the chilaquilas. It was awful! 4 tortilla chips with spaghetti sauce, too much shredded cheese. This place is busy, so I think they just need to stick to American food, definitely remove chilaquilas from the menu. read more

(3.5/5 Stars) We had to fast to get some blood tests so we went in real early. We were done early so decided to stop for breakfast. Juniors was just up the street so we gave it a try. It's an older building that they have turned into a cafe. They are known for their huge portions and open-face sandwiches. I've had them bookmarked since before we moved here because of their menu but we've never made it because they are only open for breakfast and lunch-and we usually only go out for dinner. You select your seat and they bring menus and take your drink order right away. We got our coffee right away. The coffee was just ok but we drank it happily since it was our first of the day. The menu is pretty simple with classic breakfasts. I was surprised that they served chicken fried chicken as well as the standard chicken fried steak. We ordered eggs, home fried potatoes with toast and also the half-order (so good they do half orders!) of chicken fried chicken with country gravy and home fries-plus they give you a choice of toast or biscuits and gravy! Is that even a choice? Our meals came on a good sized platter for the full meal and a smaller one for the half order of the chicken fried chicken then another for the biscuits and gravy. The biscuits and gravy were big enough to be a second meal. The chicken fried chicken was very good. It wasn't flattened like normal but a big hunk of chicken breast in a nice fried coating. It was good but we weren't expecting the hunk and I think the flatter version works better for breakfast. The country gravy was ok on the chicken but had a weird flavor (tasted like stale cream?) on the biscuits. The biscuits were flat and dense instead of light and fluffy. The home fried potatoes were fried nicely and were tasty. The eggs were just eggs-no special seasoning. The white toast was like Texas toast-very thick. Not the best choice to dunk in eggs but ok. Overall, Junior was a decent place for breakfast but the breakfast was just good enough for average C or 3 stars. The chicken fried chicken brought it up to the 3.5 stars. Our bill came to $21 and some change. For that much here, I would expect more. read more

This is one of the best restaurants we have here in the valley. It's got an old school diner feel to it. It only serves breakfast and lunch. Be quick on the menu, the service here is quick and the quality of the food is great. What more could you ask for if you're coming in on your lunch break. They also offer catering services. Every time I'm at an event and juniors is catering, I look forward to the food. You know it's going to be delicious. FYI, if you happen to find yourself at an event where they're catering, hurry and get the dessert-it goes quick. read more

This is hidden gem of El Centro, great food and staff make this place a winner! If your not a local it may go un noticed to you. Dont let the side of this place fool you for this small dinner is packed full of taste and will keep your belly and wallet full! The food is severed quick and literally steaming hot! There is soo much food served with the half plates I had to toss in the towel as good as it tasted my buttons were gonna pop! Im scared to see the whole plate. Lunch plates are served with soup or salad. Dressing are home made the soup is amazing my pick was the beef barley lot of flavor amd filled w beef carrots and mushrooms. The herb chicken was sooo jucy with great taste. The breading on the chicken fried steat was super crispy it didnt even get soggy! I loved the gravy was still steaming even after a minute of sitting at the table. The only down side of this place is they are only open Tue-Fri 8am-130pm, so sadly we would not be able to have a family breakfast day the weekend, but if you get a chance to eat here durring the open hour do it! read more

Recently moved here and I am always looking for a good place to get breakfast when I get off work in the morning. After being tired of drive thrus, I decided to give Juniors Cafe a try. I had heard good things about the place from friends and coworkers, Juniors did not disappoint. I came in about 30 minutes after they opened and I was able to find a seat immediately. There was oldies music playing and a group of seniors that looked like best friends and regulars here which gave the diner an old home town feel, like the old diners you see in the movies. I ordered the Denver Omelette (Ham, Bell Peppers, Onions and Cheese) Hashbrowns and Sourdough Toast. The omelette was good with everything in it, but the eggs themselves were just a tad bit plain. The hashbrowns were cooked perfectly, seasoned perfectly and had a nice crunch to them which is the best part for me. I am a huge fan of sourdough so the toast was great. This place is awesome for breakfast or a late lunch. They are only open from 7am to 3pm - it's gets packed. It's decorated in classic 1950s diner black-and-white checkered floor, booths - nice little counter to drink coffee at. The food there is a great price for the generous portions. If you were lucky to catch the special the day before it runs out you won't regret whatever it is. But what makes Junior's is Junior! He always gives great customer service with a smile. read more

I reviewed this restaurant awhile ago on Google. I gave it a very low score. It use to be a great place to have Breakfast and Lunch. They are not open for Dinner which is probably just as well. As we walked the Staff didn't even acknowledge us. The waitress finally came over to take our order and was so rude I should have left then and there, but I was hungry. As she walked away the words on the back of all their Tee Shirts said, "EAT, PAY, GET OUT". Whoever thought that was funny needs to get checked out. This should have been a warning, but remember I was hungry. We ordered the Breakfast of Biscuits and Gravy. My mouth was watering in anticipation. Boy was I in for a very big let down. The once upon a time great white Gravy tasted like chalk and was cold. I asked them to reheat it and was met with incredible disbelief. Bottom line, save your money, time and appetite for any other place. They don't deserve your money or patronage. I use to go to Junior's often but I will never go back. Mmm yummy!! Heard good things about this cafe but never made it in because of the operating days/times. My husband and I had a random Friday off together so we met for lunch and I'm sure glad we did!
