Had a great brunch here yesterday. I had a California Benedict, which was just the right size, and the eggs were cooked perfectly. Mom had a Californian Omelette, which was great, cooked well, but was a bit too large for her - we took the rest home and I had it the next day. I had a diet soda, Mom had a Bloody Mary. They have a choice of bloodies, with different faux alcohol. The mix and the veggies were great, the alcohol was meh. The big booth table was hard to get our feet around. Looking for a great breakfast in the IV is like looking for the fountain of youth! After reviewing several possibilities I decided on the Broken Yolk simply because it was pet friendly. The place wasn't busy and was seated in the outside patio that turned out to be infested with several mosquito gangs that were relentless and annoying. The waitress came by quickly and took my drink order and gave me a bit of time to decide on my order. The menu has an insurmountable amount of items that even Chef Ramsey would have cried over. I decided on the mom omelette and a side of pumpkin spice pancakes. As I waited for my order I did enjoy the coffee that was the highlight of the meal. My order arrived and they looked like there was enough food on my plates to feed the entire valley. As I started my meal adventure it became apparent to me that I had chosen the wrong pill and would have to live in this nightmare for the next 20 or 30 minutes. I basically had to pick away at the only salvageable part of the meal which was the egg. Even the has browns were soggy and tasteless. The veggie interior was overwhelming and off putting! But there was one last hope in my side order of pumpkin pancakes. They were the size of the salton sea and tasted about as salty as the salton sea. They were uncooked and the pumpkin was no where to be found. After a couple of attempts trying to find a cooked piece I had to do a Linda Blair and spit out the hellish pieces onto my plate. It became apparently obvious to me that the Broken Yolk is about as broken as Humpty Dumpty and this place cannot be put back together! Disappointment is the only thing on this menu that is done right at this place! Do yourself a favor and just drive to Yuma or San Diego next time you wake up hungry. Very beautiful establishment. Open and inviting with delicious scents soon as I walked in the door. This was my friend's recommendation and it was a diamond. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal which was great in proportion and super flavorful. Never really had tacos for breakfast but these were quite tasty. If I ever go back think I'll try them with out the cornmeal taco as that was a bit heavy for me but it could've been just my preference. The service was spot on, not just our waitress asked were we good but several other passing service members and that is not something I'm used to. If I find myself back in California again in this neck of the woods I would love to come here again maybe for lunch because breakfast was a home run. Someone needs to give our waitress a raise. We completely forgot her name but she was amazing. She checked up on us soapy times despite it being busy. I popped in on a rando Monday, and the wait was like 20mins, pro tip use the "join waitlist" on this app, make your life better. The restaurant was warm, clean, the food was good and the service solid. I went in when I was super hungry. The item that jumped off the menu and on to my plate was the short stack cinni-stack combo. I ordered my eggs scrambled, and "not super dry be definitely not wet", totally woshwashy, but they came out perfectly amazing!!!! The sweetness of the pancakes was a good combo with the bacon and eggs. My waitress was a pro at keeping the coffee coming and making sure I had everything I needed. I was seated and attended to immediately. Was able to order and again my food was brought to me immediately. The food was tasty. I did ask for bacon well done, but it tasted "funny" like old oil...that's my only complaint. The potatoes were a little oily but I think that's how most people would like them. I have fond memories of the La Jolla location during my university years, so I was definitely thrilled to have this location open up in my hometown. I come about once a month or so with my mom. We really enjoy everything about this place! They switched to a better brand of coffee, so that's a plus. They offer vegetarian and vegan alternatives. I love the variety on their menu. I LOVE the Hash Skillet and the Border Benedict. Mom and I almost always get a savory breakfast and then one single buttermilk pancake to split... just for a touch of sweet! Haven't been here in over a year but now I remember why. We ordered three meals two out of three were ok but the chilaquiles were so dry and had no sauce or flavor. Only two spoonfuls of meat on the chilaquiles. So disappointing like how can the waiters drop this off at our table. I didn't even eat it and wanted to send it back but never had the waiter return until the bill was dropped off. The other meal had no salt either! Aside from this, we were seated by a table with children. The neglectful parents allowed their two children to cry it out. One of them being under a couple months. They didn't do anything to stop the babies from crying and they cried till they finished eating and left. I had to bite my tongue to not intervene. I did expect at least the manager to speak to them on behalf of the restaurant patrons. We all have to right to dine but we also have a right to enjoy our meal. Do better broken yolk! read more

Just stopped in for breakfast. I ordered the Mile High Omelet. While it tasted good, I was a bit shocked at the way it was made. In all actuality it wasn't an Omelet. The cook prepared the ham green pepper, onions, and cheese placed them on the plate and just layed the scramble eggs on top of all the other ingredients. A very lazy way of making an Omelet. Please turn off the stupid celling fans! Our food gets cols before we can put ketchup on it, it is ridiculous! The service and the food are great if you can het seated in the back. Winter or summer they have the fans on, I know the servers are walking around and get hot but it is awful for our food, it messes up the whole experience. Someone should tell them celling fans are meant to recirculate air so they should be spinning in reverse and not blowing air down!!! If you ask anyone they tell you "oh! i am sorry, we can't turn it off" Please!!!! Turn them off or fix the direction in which they spin!!!! It is not rocket science! read more

So glad I came in here! I got the good morning burger with my eggs over easy and my burger cooked medium rare. First off the portions are HUGE! I didn't expect my burger to be as big as it was thickness and width. Burger and fries were cooked to perfection, the fries nice and crunchy but not over cooked at all. Not one soggy or undercooked fry on my plate. I paired my burger with the mimosa flight, each one was equally amazing it's it's own different way, all with unique taste of their own. It was Mexican Mother's Day. It was really busy that morning. The restaurant was full and two benches outside were piled with people. I noticed the covered patio wasn't filled and thought to ask if we could be seated there. On this very busy day, the patio was closed. We stood in the sun with moms who were less than happy. A little less than 30 minutes later, we were seated. The service was ok. The food has been the same over-served, overpriced meals. But we couldn't get in at any Denny's in the valley and too many local spots don't make crepes. read more
