Was craving Mexican food while in town and found this lively spot on Yelp. And boy am I glad I did. This place is best described as a trendy, somewhat upscale Mexican restaurant. The ambience is awesome, dimly lit with lively music bumping. Not only is the environment lively, the food and drinks are AWESOME. I sat at the self seating bar as I was dining solo. The bartender, very friendly guy, took my order. Forgot his name but he is a good looking guy, which sort of fits the upscale scene. Every table gets complimentary salsa tray which I presume has avocado salsa, verde, mocajete, and limes. The salsas were DELICIOUS. I do wish they gave some complimentary chips along with it. Everything I ordered: Carne asada burrito, substitute beans with rice - 9/10. Was very delicious especially when accompanied with the salsas. For the drinks: Oaxaca Old Fashioned - 10/10. I love old fashioneds and they nailed it here. Instead of whiskey, they use mezcal which was delicious. Agave Spritz - 10/10. Mezcal with prosecco. Fantastic. No words. The only thing I would recommend to the restaurant is including prices of the cocktails on the menu. After finishing eating I had no idea what the damage would be but it turned out to be very reasonable, $13 per cocktail. I wish I gave this place a shot earlier during my work trip, but anyhow if I am ever back in town, this is in my highly recommended list of restaurants. They also had one projector screen showing the World Cup game. They also have Happy Hour 3-6 PM. Parking is plentiful, shared with the rest of the plaza. Would I come back? You bet. read more

The 3 starts is a little unfair, because the place is completely incredible the music is great the ambiance is amazing their waiters are print cordial savvy and bilingual... sadly my food wasn't a 4 stars or 5 stars ordered the arrachera burrito and I'm going to say it was at best a 3/5. However I went with a friend who ordered a santo chile (or something) and the plate looked delicious. Their queso fundido was the best part of my experience combined with the Tamarindo agua Fresca. Today I returned to the wonderful D'Poly Taco Grill and Beer in El Centro where my epic hiking expedition ended in failure, disappointment, and embarrassment a few weeks ago. I intended to travel the entire 2,600-mile length of the Pacific Crest Trail, but my adventure unceremoniously ended in El Centro under a tree about 60 miles east of my starting point. The paramedics told me that hiking is not for everyone. After a desperate two weeks of hiking with little food and water through BLM land tracks, old service roads, and desert washes, as best I can recall, I finally set up camp in El Centro under a farmer's tree near his washing line. Soon after the farmer called the police about my campfire, the authorities and my ex-wife found me in a state of delerium hosting a tea party under a large avocado tree wearing the farmer's wife's plus size nightgown while serving "cups of chai tea" to a sizable pile of rotten avocados and a rusty shovel that I thought was "Jan" from those Toyota commercials. My first real meal after being found by the authorities and my ex-wife was at D'Poly Taco Grill and Beer. D'Poly was the perfect welcome back to civilization as it has a spectacular menu full of delicious Mexican cuisine like street tacos, flautas, sopes and empanadas. The Lineman burrito is my absolute favorite. And they have a wonderful breakfast menu! It's fast casual dining, but it has a sort of classic and moody vibe that gives off a more upscale feel. Love it! A wonderful place to break free of your delusions. My ex-wife tried to tell me that hiking is not for everyone. Thankfully, the paramedics found my emergency contact list and phoned my ex-wife who showed up and broke me out of my stupor by making me drop my emotional support avocado, taking me by the shoulders and shaking me vigorously while yelling "it's over, it's over!" Ironically, that was the same way she told me we were getting divorced. I'm not a quitter, so it takes a while for me to give up. I've since tried many items on the D'Poly menu and everything is exceptional, though I do avoid adding avocado. It's just too soon. Thank you D'Poly Taco Grill and Beer! Five stars. read more

After its recent renovation in 2024, D'Poly Taco Grill & Beer is the gold standard for authentic Mexican grub with both beautiful atmosphere and quality dining experience. Their menu is extensive with tacos, salads, burritos, and quesadillas. The wait staff here are extremely adept and friendly. I especially love their Alhambra dinner set, tacuache tacos and horchatita drink. I am a loyal regular here whenever in El Centro. read more

Yup not by mistake because it's was 2 separate bills at first it's was 3, the amount I spent and 2 for $53 and change! I spoke to the owner and he said he would fix it. This happened late on the Oct 29th it's now Nov 3rd and nothing has been fix. The owner Mr. Ferdinando was very nice and apologetic however nothing happened! Am still $53 dlls short. The Valley is very small so I enjoyed eating here but now I pay next to the register where I can keep an eye on my card. I gave them the opportunity to do good on their word and apparently nothing happened. Once this is resolved I will update my review. Watch out when paying! I don't know if this something they do often or if it's was an honest mistake. For now it's NOT looking good! I know someone out there is going to say am making it a big deal, but money it's tight to give it for free! Update: After. Speaking to the owner he promptly fix the problem I expressed how I felt, how it's was hard to trust a place like this. The owner was also concerned and informed me that he would be talking to his employees and this would never happen again. He actually made me feel confident and comfortable! But it was fresh and good but not great. Needed crispy fries and better salsa. But still in my opinion good. Chips and salsa were not my go to. Over fried but salsa and free guacamole saved them. Bathroom is pretty cool as they have loud music in case you want to take care of business without the entire place hearing it. A large group of us decided to head in for dinner one Friday night. We called to make a reservation, which they were able to accommodate with such late notice. Our sever was great, ensuring our drinks were always filled and orders were placed within a timely manner. I decided to go with the Mulita without cheese and added barbacoa.
