Today I returned to the wonderful D'Poly Taco Grill and Beer in El Centro where my epic hiking expedition ended in failure, disappointment, and embarrassment a few weeks ago. I intended to travel the entire 2,600-mile length of the Pacific Crest Trail, but my adventure unceremoniously ended in El Centro under a tree about 60 miles east of my starting point. The paramedics told me that hiking is not for everyone. After a desperate two weeks of hiking with little food and water through BLM land tracks, old service roads, and desert washes, as best I can recall, I finally set up camp in El Centro under a farmer's tree near his washing line. Soon after the farmer called the police about my campfire, the authorities and my ex-wife found me in a state of delerium hosting a tea party under a large avocado tree wearing the farmer's wife's plus size nightgown while serving "cups of chai tea" to a sizable pile of rotten avocados and a rusty shovel that I thought was "Jan" from those Toyota commercials. My first real meal after being found by the authorities and my ex-wife was at D'Poly Taco Grill and Beer. D'Poly was the perfect welcome back to civilization as it has a spectacular menu full of delicious Mexican cuisine like street tacos, flautas, sopes and empanadas. The Lineman burrito is my absolute favorite. And they have a wonderful breakfast menu! It's fast casual dining, but it has a sort of classic and moody vibe that gives off a more upscale feel. Love it! A wonderful place to break free of your delusions. My ex-wife tried to tell me that hiking is not for everyone. Thankfully, the paramedics found my emergency contact list and phoned my ex-wife who showed up and broke me out of my stupor by making me drop my emotional support avocado, taking me by the shoulders and shaking me vigorously while yelling "it's over, it's over!" Ironically, that was the same way she told me we were getting divorced. I'm not a quitter, so it takes a while for me to give up. I've since tried many items on the D'Poly menu and everything is exceptional, though I do avoid adding avocado. It's just too soon. Thank you D'Poly Taco Grill and Beer! Five stars. read more

Came here for a big family dinner on a Friday night - didn't expect the wait to be this long, but waited over an hour for a table. We came into town for an event and this restaurant was recommended to us for the "vibes" lol. The food was pretty good, but you can definitely tell that people come more for the vibes. We got different smattering of tacos/Tex-Mex food. MAKE IT A PLATE because the rice and beans and fun veggies. Impromptu belated birthday celebration - cake came with a sparkler! We ordered California burritos to go, and they were really good. They provided plenty of napkins, sauces, and lemons for us too. It took maybe 20 minutes after ordering on the phone to get our food. Very tasty tacos! Great prices and great drinks. Dessert of the chocolate flan was disappointing. It was dry all the way around and do not recommend. Taco for fish (tilapia), the tilapia was so tasty but could've been served in cut pieces versus one big strip. Portion was great, but would've been better diced served in a taco. We were visiting El Centro for a business trip and came across this restaurant. It's a solid lunch spot with good selection of cocktails, drinks, and an extensive food menu. We got 3 tacos (fish, barbacoa and tripa) and their specialty, the Chile El Santo -- which ended up being our favorite. The tacos were really tasty too. If you're in the area, you definitely need to visit this place. It's an oasis in the desert. I ordered their signature stuffed Chile dish. Delish. Friends ordered the nachos, empanadas, and tacos. After its recent renovation in 2024, D'Poly Taco Grill & Beer is the gold standard for authentic Mexican grub with both beautiful atmosphere and quality dining experience. Their menu is extensive with tacos, salads, burritos, and quesadillas. The wait staff here are extremely adept and friendly. I especially love their Alhambra dinner set, tacuache tacos and horchatita drink. I am a loyal regular here whenever in El Centro. read more

I like this place the food is ok not the best around but not bad! Service is good the waiter was nice and helpful. I enjoyed being seated in-front of bar and watching bar tender prepared drinks! The place was clean, not too loud. The downer was that they are very sneaky now am thinking that they are all in it! Why well I was over charger $53 dlls. Yup not by mistake because it's was 2 separate bills at first it's was 3, the amount I spent and 2 for $53 and change! I spoke to the owner and he said he would fix it. This happened late on the Oct 29th it's now Nov 3rd and nothing has been fix. The owner Mr. Ferdinando was very nice and apologetic however nothing happened! Am still $53 dlls short. The Valley is very small so I enjoyed eating here but now I pay next to the register where I can keep an eye on my card. I gave them the opportunity to do good on their word and apparently nothing happened. Once this is resolved I will update my review. Watch out when paying! I don't know if this something they do often or if it's was an honest mistake. For now it's NOT looking good! I know someone out there is going to say am making it a big deal, but money it's tight to give it for free! Update: After. Speaking to the owner he promptly fix the problem I expressed how I felt, how it's was hard to trust a place like this. The owner was also concerned and informed me that he would be talking to his employees and this would never happen again. He actually made me feel confident and comfortable! They've expanded the dining room and added a bar since I last visited but food is still good. Food does take a while when it gets busy but worth the wait if you have time. read more

The food here is so good, I usually get asada tacos, sometimes with shrimp empanadas. Everything is fresh and so full of flavor. Service is OK, this is a busy busy place. I am always driving to somewhere or from somewhere, So I do not get to try the alcoholic beverages. But this is an excellent place for good food, read more

Was passing by El Centro and we decided to stop by for lunch and we randomly ended up at D'Poly Taco. We loved the food and were enjoying ourselves so much that we had to leave before ordering more drinks. A really good family restaurant to enjoy delicious mexican food here. read more

Great spot. The food was really good, fresh, and full of flavor. Everything came out fast and hot. The service was on point, staff was friendly and made sure we were taken care of. This place is pretty cool. Don't know if I would visit again. But definitely pretty cool. Food I would give a 4/5. The lineman burrito was a 4/5 and had amazing flavors and just made everything work well together but the shrimp but a little off. Carne asada fries 3/5: Don't get me wrong, everything was fresh and well balanced but I'm from San Diego, portions were smaller and the flavor didn't match up too well. But it was fresh and good but not great. Needed crispy fries and better salsa. But still in my opinion good. Chips and salsa were not my go to. Over fried but salsa and free guacamole saved them. Bathroom is pretty cool as they have loud music in case you want to take care of business without the entire place hearing it. Overall I would still come by for your own opinion as the service and staff was real polite and attentive. read more

It was our first time here. We came right after we got off.. We were in town for work. I ordered 2 different tacos (Pastor & Tripe). It was a very nice establishment to eat at AND to just hang out. A large group of us decided to head in for dinner one Friday night. We called to make a reservation, which they were able to accommodate with such late notice. Our sever was great, ensuring our drinks were always filled and orders were placed within a timely manner. I decided to go with the Mulita without cheese and added barbacoa. Unfortunately, it wasn't anything to brag about. The rest of table ordered items ranging from enchiladas, to rolled tacos, with a few appetizers and while they were better than mine still not too impressed. This place never disappoints!!! Food is amazing. I had the Carne en su jugo with side of flour tortillas. Just absolutely delicious. The place got busy as I walked in just before lunch time. With a few large tables walking in. The service was wonderful, thanks to Oscar I believe. The food just tasted amazing. My one stop every time I come to visit here. Never disappoints. Very, very, VERY good food! The carne asada tasted like what you would get in Mexicali. The only complaint I have is the quantity of food for the price. I ordered the Queka Especial quesadilla (almost $20) and it wasn't as big as I thought it would be for the price. It was very good, though, and I would probably get it again. My mother got the carnitas burrito and I can't say the same for the flavor of the carnitas. Not something I would order again. read more
