Great food and service. I like the decorations around the restaurant as it gives you a small hole in the wall feel, but a taste of Mexico at the same time. The wait time was very reasonable and the servers were sure to ask if we need any additional items when they checked on us. The food preparation was good with good portion sizes as well. An amazing spread at the salsa bar! The shrimp cocktail was so well presented everyone at the table stopped to take a picture. The star of the night came from the special quesadillas though... I was introduced to Chile Colorado 20 year ago and when I sample a new Mexican restaurant, I look for it on the menu. Jalisco's happens to be one of my favorites. Located in the Vons shopping center in El Centro, Jalisco's is one of Imperial Valley's staples. I've been going for three years and come hungry because the portions can be generous. The staff has always been amazing and the look and feel is what I love to experience; warm, inviting and authentic. You won't find this place in the middle of Gas Lamp but this "mom and pop" delivers on everything that's wonderful about a small business. It's the charm of this place that has me returning. Food horrible, the "steak" tasted so weird, we all tried it and everyone said the same thing. The quesadilla had a nasty cheese, it seems like it wasn't good anymore it was disgusting. The lemonade was bad also and the chips and salsa were disgusting too. The waitress was so sloppy and messy. She kept spilling chips all over the restaurant and even in our table and she saw it and ignored it until we asked her to clean it she just brought another small bowl... she ding clean the mess.. The food is great, portions are large and the in-restaurant service as well as the take out are excellent. Many establishments recently have "reduced the quality of their take out service by not including what would normally come with the dine-in service." Jalisco's has continued to deliver high quality service be it to dine-in or for take-out. The ambience is "homey", old Mexican golden oldies with mariachis in the background. I just ordered some takeout from Jalisco's, and the server (woman) and the cashier (man) were having a dispute and acting very unprofessional in front of my mother and I. The lady started taking our order and took our money and didn't give us our change because the guy started scolding her in front of everyone. It was very awkward and uncomfortable. They then forgot to give us the right amount of change and didn't even give us a full amount of chips in the to go bag I had to ask her if we could get more since they seemed preoccupied with their personal matters. Once I got home and opened the bag of food I noticed they didn't even give us everything that is supposed to be in the order. Would not recommend this place to anyone. read more

Overall 4.0 stars Food 4.0 Service 4 Ambiance 4 Update: Just one update to the original review. Last night, my husband said the fajitas were a quite rubbery. So much that he doesn't want to do those again. I know, sometimes, they are marinated too long that can cause a texture change. I didn't notice but I only tried one piece. Original: I happened to be walking by to go grocery shopping so I stopped in to check out the menu. It is Jalisco's Grill so I wasn't sure what they would have. I took photos and put it on Yelp so we can all check it out. It looked good. They have all the regular entrees you find plus more. They have Caldos de Pollo and Res, Albondigas, Menudo and Tortilla soups. I am so happy that I found this place!! The restaurant is big and beautiful with a wood and brick look. They have a bar with tall seats where many people were sitting for lunch. There is a bar at one end of the restaurant that you enter through a stone archway. They have a full bar so you can have a nice drink with dinner. I like that they let you chose your seat so we found a perfect booth. We got HUGE (love it so I don't have to ask for refills!) water with lemon for drinks. They bring chips and salsa-a tasty salsa mild with a roasted flavor that my husband could even eat. They have a beautiful salsa bar with numerous other salsas for those of us who like a bit more spice. The salsa bar has carrots, jalapeño and onions, en escabeche, a spicy vinegar marinade, for a healthy snack. They had tacos or a shrimp tortida for lunch specials. We ordered chicken fajitas and Chile Rellenos for our entrees. I always get Chile Rellenos as my test for a good place. We had time to enjoy the chips and salsa and then the sizzling platter of chicken fajitas showed up. There was a separate dish with rice and beans. Then the Chile Relleno. They came with flour or corn tortilla so we each got one. The flour tortillas were really good. I love corn tortillas but these were a bit thick and didn't really taste homemade. The chicken fajitas were cooked amazingly so the food had the perfect char. The Chile Relleno was good but I needed to add a bit of salsa to give it a kick. We are so very happy we found a place we love. I can't wait to come back soon and have the Caldo de Pollo! It comes with the half ear of corn and chunks of chicken and veggies. It is one of my favorites. The margaritas look good too. read more

I was considering having a birthday party for 25 people there so I came down from San Diego to have lunch. My sister and I ordered the ribeye steak because the menu said it cost $26.99. When we got the bill we noticed that the price was $34.99. When we asked, we were told that the menu has posted prices are subject to change. That came as a big surprise to us because the waitress never said that to when she took our order. If she had, we would have make a decision on whether or not to buy that more expensive dish or to order something less expensive. When I mentioned to them Manager who rang us up, she said the same thing, that the menu states prices can change. She wouldn't budge. I did tell her that that the waitress in the future should let people know that the price has gone up $8 as a courtesy to the customer. BTW, the ribeye was delicious even at $34.99. Salsa a little bland and watery. So I've decided to take my party to a different restaurant. They just lost out on my party of 25 people, about $1000. read more

Looking for somewhere to take out of town family, this is NOT the place!! Talk about TERRIBLE SERVICE from the time we walked in the door. The food was a BIG disappointment. Carne asada & chicken asada charred & not in a good way! To top it off the had loud music coming from a crappy speaker. We asked 2 times if they could turn the music down so we could hear each other during our meal & when the waiter said "huh?" I said, "exactly! The music is too loud we can't even have a conversation!" Then he said no & walked away! When we went to pay the girl left us standing there as she walked away. Went there on a Tuesday afternoon, the place itself is very homey and traditional. I got the aguachili and asked them to make it very spicy. The aguachili was very flavorful yet, not salty. Comparing to the other aguachilis I've had in el centro this place has got to be the best one so far. They also give you a huge portion as well. The only reason why I gave it one star off is because it wasn't served cold! Aguachilis are supposed to be chilled. This one was warm. Other than that I have nothing to complain about. Mmmmm....Jalisco's. The Holy Land. Every summer I make my way down south to San Diego but take a special detour and drive 2 hours to taste truly AUTHENTIC Mexican food. It's about 5 miles away from the Mexican border. You want to take a journey to the best Mexican Restaurant on the West Coast? Come to Jalisco's. The hostesses are awesome. The food is filling and big portions. As a secret menu item I highly suggest the Special Quesadilla. It will give you a most excellent food baby. Sure, the weather is hot and muggy but it's all worthwhile when going to this fine establishment. Bathrooms are clean and folks are friendly. But of course- COME FOR THE FOOD. sorry but the cook means everything for a restaurant if you know what I mean. we know this place for iver a decade, and the consistent quality of food has been superior or the years and through the pandemic. It ended 2 weeks ago when they had a different new chef. we were the only people at 8:20am and it took close to 45 minutes to bring our food. the huevos rancheros eggs overcooked till they looked like hard boiled eggs. the signature pancakes were not golden brown, they were thick ok, but raw in the middle. a day before this rating would be 5 stars but the cook blew it for that day so all the waitresses and the restaurant tables couldn't put jalisco back together again. read more

If I could leave negative stars I would. Very slow service. Salsa tasted worse than canned. Food was served cold and tasted awful. Barely got our food and tasted it when we noticed a damn COCKROACH on the seat next to our heads. Husband jumped so fast he fell to the floor. We told served and she just looked at it and walked away. We asked for a manager and after Bput 10 minutes she finally came to our table with attitude and said she was really busy what do we want. Unacceptable! The place does have some good food however you can't even enjoy it because as soon as you sit down. You begin to see all the mess and dirt build up in the restaurant. I've been here a couple times and it just got worse and worse. I couldn't even eat because I was being attacked by flys the entire time I was there.
