Ordered carne en su jugo, was good, then waitress admitted she forgot to ask if we wanted beans with it, we said no worries, next time we will mention it . Best carnitas i have ever had! Do not be discouraged by the cost, it is expensive, but worth it. Legit homemade molcajete salsa. I always ask for the hot salsa they don't bring out with the chips and salsa and this salsa is hot. It is really good but approach it carefully. Good, legit, mexican resturant chips. The carnitas is pork spare ribs. They are juicy and fall off the bone yet crispy and fried on the outside with great flavor. The rice was solid, I don't like beans so no opinion. Came with big slices of avocado. My wife got cheese enchiladas verde, lots of cheese, authentic Verde sauce with a little kick. This place got busy after I arrived at 11:50 am. Salsa was great and the owner Roas greeted me. I asked her where she gets the Mexico Lindo Captain black salsa she said Mexico. I have been looking for that salsa for a long time. They have one on every table. I have been to lots of Mercado's and can't find it. She gave me one! So nice, I told her I would gladly pay for it she said no. I ordered the Cameroon la diabla. Very good spicy but not overly spicy. Very clean bathroom and front dining area. years past service was poor, but the food was great. So we kept coming back. Now the service is great and the food is still amazing. Rosa is a great cook. If you have a big appetite steak or Carne Asada is the best. But my recent discovery is the Red Enchiladas, wow that's the sauce I remember when I was a kid it's from scratch not Las Palmas. Her food is really great, we do go to other Mexican restaurants in the Valley but she really has the flavor that reminds me of grandma's house. read more

Rosas Plane food is my favorite spot to go to go in Calexico. The food is amazing I've had the ribeyes before and they are delicious and huge and the price is right. This last time I had the steak with carnitas. Loved the steak as usual but the carnitas is so flavoravle and falls apart. We also got the fresh guacamole and a bunch of buckets of ice cold beer. The place has a sweet decor inside too and makes you feel like your in an awesome locals spot that's been there for a long time. They said 35 years! Besides the food Vivian and Rosa who is the owners are so nice and treated us like we were family. Service was outstanding. Highly recommend it was very memorable experience for my friends and buddies who went for the first time. Wish we had this spot in San Diego! read more

The restaurant is located as close as you can be to Mexico without actually being in Mexico! I happened to be here on business and two different locals recommended it. Have visited the original location at the Calexico airport a number of times before. I'm reviewing the new location in the Valley Plaza Center only. Came for breakfast, ordered chilaquiles and machaca plates. What stood out was that both plates had soggy fries for potatoes. The coffee was ok, but instead of half and half, they brought out vanilla/hazelnut instead. Why? The chilaquiles and beans were pretty good, they had great flavor, but the machaca wasn't that great; it had similar taste/texture to pre-packaged shredded beef from a grocery store. Now, normally all this wouldn't be a deal breaker, BUT...when I'm paying $15-16 bucks for a plate of food, it had better be worth it. This unfortunately wasn't. read more

Rosa has moved to the valley plaza in El Centro, Ca. Much better parking and location. The restaurant is located in a strip mall and there is a huge parking lot. I like the enchiladas there but I recently went there and got the carne asada plate. Loved it. You can get a 16 ounce or 20 ounce steak. Steak was good, it had grill marks and was seasoned nicely. The waitress mentioned they are looking to hire a cook. I'll post a picture of the carne asada steak. Very good! read more

We're from up north Detroit and 20 years ago we found this place when Rosa's mother ran the restaurant and it was out by the airport . We remember the ceviche and special asparagus dish she made only on Valentine's Day. Well we were coming down this winter to get warn and we don't like Florida So re seeing the southwest was an option , while there we tried to find Rosa's. We found the old place , long closed, at the airport, and the second place , also closed and finally the new Rosa's open only a few weeks in a new town 12 miles away You local's probably now the towns but we didn't . Finally found it and meet Rosa's daughter in the first weeks at the new place . The ceviche was excellent. Worth the adventure .a friendly place with the owner present , it makes a difference. My friend recommended this place to me. She started to eat here before it moved from the airport and the quality did not diminish! This is mom and pop restaurant where Rosa cooks everything in the back and the receipes are from her father being passed down. Also, Vivian, her daughter, was a great host/waitress/runner! We ordered the asada and Carnitas plate (to be shared with two people). Both the pork ribs and beef were beautifully tender and full of flavor! HORRIBLE customer service. And to know that the person giving horrible customer service is the owners daughter..here are SOME of our complaints. When asked about ingredients on a plate her answer was "read the menu". asked for extra plates was Ignored and keept walking. Asked to lower the music her reply was "I already told him". We were more that 10+ people and to write that everyone in the group thought and said the same about our experiences is very sad. Food pricing is too much for what they offer.
