As a seasonal worker here in the imperial Valley for the last 25+ years I always treat myself to Johnny's shredded beef taquitos when I'm in town and they never disappoint. I have tried a variety of items off their menu and have never been unsatisfied. It's pretty obvious to me that this place is a local favorite. Lived here many years ago, and Johnny's was always a go to place. Now we love approximately 600+ miles north. But whenever we are in town, Johnny's is one of our first stops. What's my go to order? Visited 8/3/2023 Today's Lunch on my way home from Arizona. Stopped at Johnny's Burritos in Brawley Ca. I chose to try The Chile Relleno and Rice Burrito. It was fresh and tasty and for only $8.10 not a bad price. I also ordered a Machaca and Egg with Beans Breakfast Burrito. Stuffed nicely with Tender Juicy Shredded Beef mixed with Eggs it did hit the spot. only $8.20 As a senior they gave me an additional 10% off my order and I found that a nice ice breaker in this day and age. Looking forward to stopping here in the future to try more of the large menu. Nice change from the chain Burger and Taco Joints. read more

Johnny's is the next best thing when visiting family in Brawley. They have the best rolled tacos with "snotty" sauce and shredded cheese. It's crispy, freshly made with a generous amount of meat. There may be other places that may serve similar ones, but nothing beats this original! The kids gobbled down their fries and cheese as well. You'd know how amazing their food is, by the long line they always have at their drive-thru. Their sweet tea is refreshing as well! I'll never get tired of this place! Tuesday December 16th, 3:30 pm, 30 minutes before they closed, I went to Johnny's Burritos in Brawley, Ca. and ordered the classic Carne Asada 2 tacos w/rice & beans w/ hard taco shells, not soft shells, and I ordered the 2 fish tacos with rice & beans w/hard shells, not soft shells, I went home 1 mile away, in the carry bag, what I got was (1) Carne Asada soft shell taco, asked for hard shell it was in an open paper tray only, not the classic 2 carne asada tacos plate w/rice & beans, and my fish tacos were put in a soft shell, not the hard shell, and the breaded cod fish, rice and beans we're cold. WHAT was all the fuzz about?? The avo sauce *avocado, was nasty!!! Too sour and it didn't even taste NOTHING like avocado. We ordered barbacoa burritos and those were ok?! It tasted more like birria. The taquitos with the so famous avo sauce were salty...and like i said *nasty sauce. The drink size is so damm ridiculous!! I've spent more than half my life away from the valley and the craving for Johnnys has never gone away. Fries and cheese with avocado never disappoints. The fried bean and cheese? A masterpiece. Johnny's is a Brawley institution. If you live here, you probably love it and grew up eating here. I've read some if the reviews and the people just don't seem to get it. Today had the deep fried chili bean burrito ($2.75) and Barbacoa burrito ($4.95). I enjoyed both. Chili bean burrito was on the small side but it's only $2.75! The crunch and texture was spot on. Not too hard or soft. The Barbacoa was tender and flavorful with a little cabbage and cilantro inside that provided a nice crunch and freshness. The french fries with many toppings are super popular here too. Most people drive by on their way to Glamis or are locals. The drive thru line is always long similar to an IN-N-OUT burger or a Chick-Fil-A drive thru. Both if which I love too! Give Johnny's a try. You may like it! I do! read more

I came down to Brawley for a reunion and could not wait for the next morning at my fix of what used to be the very best breakfast burrito on the planet. Not sure if management changed but last Friday mornings visit will be my last. Nana Dora's from here on. I walked i the see the "new" store and to order my traditional breakfast burrito (egg, bean and bacon) plus extra bacon and I thought I'd add cheese for the first time. Well over $6.00 for a smallish burrito. I didn't care as long as it was going to bring me back to days of yore and the love of one of Brawley great traditions. So many are gone now. Las Palmas, Asian Cafe, even Shakeys.... Add one more Icon dead. I ordered to go - as I was planning to go up Hwy 111 to see Salvation Mountain and the art of Bombay. SADLY WHEN I FINALLY GOT TO NILAND AND SALVATION MOUNTAIN I OPENED UP A DISASTER. MY DREAM OF A WONDERFUL BREAKFAST WAS DEAD. The entire burrito was dryer than a popcorn fart. Hard scrambled eggs with the scrapings off the side of the bean pan. Extra bacon! What a joke when I paid $1.25 for extra bacon. One slice for the entire POS. Cheese? They must have showed the cheese to it as they rolled up my tortilla entree. What little inside was a disaster. And slow. All the business was directed to take out. ok so first time here...i ordered the shredded beef torta and a wrap of egg whites with spinach on a wheat tortilla. ok so the torta was good and good size and very tasty. Flavorful and enjoyable. The egg white with spinach was also delicious...loved it and will return for that one great meal for breakfast or after a good work out. so so far so good highly recommended and just the only thing is the parking...very small area and hard ti find a parking i had to park across the street. and drive thru is always packed sometimes which shows people love it and is always a good sign. read more

How I have missed you! My mother used to eat here when she was younger. In 1982, when we lived in Brawley for a year, we would come here at least once a week. (Looking back, it is probably part of the reason I've always been fat, but I digress.) We only really ever order the original taquitos. Something about the avocado sauce and the cheese and salsa just makes the taquito sing. I noticed now (I haven't been back in about 10 years) that they have other types of taquitos, including shredded beef. I also realized that it is no longer a grocery store. Even in small towns, things change, I guess. I remember having burritos from here and loving them, but I gravitate back to the taquitos every time. My wife is a graduate from Brawley High School (Go Wildcats!) and told me about this famous local lunch-time spot. Having a similar hang-out place during my school days I was interested to see what Johnny's Burritos could cook up. At the recommendation of my girl, I tried the breakfast burrito, tacos and their fries with avocado sauce. Under direction, I took the pot of salsa and poured it over the fries and avocado sauce. I ate two portions! For Mexican fast food, this is the place to go. While it isn't going to blow your mind with flavor, in fact most of the dishes are fairly bland without some added seasoning, the service, atmosphere and freshly cooked ingredients will give you a home-cooked feel without any of the dishes. Coming home from an appointment in Calexico, my wife and I stopped by Johnny's after hearing about it from people we know. We were not disappointed!! The place was steady when we walked in but filled up quickly for lunch. Many people were coming in to pickk up their to-go orders too. There was a big menu selection and it smelled so good in there, it was going to be a hard choice. I went with a machaca, egg, and chile burrito; my wife chose the chorizo and egg burrito. I also ordered a side of refried beans, and received a basket of the chips and salsa. It was all amazing!!! The food was hot, fresh, and seasoned perfectly.
