The drinks are always great, and the food comes out warm and full of flavor. I highly recommend the bean chile relleno dip -- omg, truly the best appetizer to enjoy with chips while you wait for your meal. The atmosphere is welcoming and has a homey, comfortable feel. Even if you don't know anyone, it feels like you do. The music in the bar area is great, too. A wonderful spot all around! And let's not forget the staff -- they were wonderful all around, making sure our drinks stayed filled and that we had everything we needed. read more

This restaurant was very cute and the food was great! We got large portions and very flavorful. We ordered a lot because we are used to small servings and high prices in San Diego but this place is very generous and prices are low. Service was quick and staff was friendly. My margarita was great, and I'm pretty sure they serve their food and drinks on authentic hand made dishes from Mexico just a guess but my margarita glass looked hand made, which is awesome cute bar and outdoor area in the back that I would probably hang out at a bit if I lived in that area. Always one I visit when in the Valley! Authentic Calmex, Family owned atmosphere famous in the IVP.

Stopped in on our way home from Glamis. We were greeted friendly and sat down right away. Our server was very sweet and efficient! We ordered bean, cheese and egg burritos, a fresh garden salad and a Cadillac margarita. Everything was delicious! We're happy to have found this little gem and we'll definitely be back next time we're in town. read more

As a visitor in Brawley, I always make sure I am there for their music on Thursday night.

I enjoyed the food and drink selection. The waitress was very a attentive. I would recommend.

The food is let down. Had the machaca plate. The machaca was nasty and smelly. The beans were not smashed and cold. The shrimp fajitas were baby shrimp and tons of veggies. I never had food this bad. read more

I won't lie looking at this place it looks outdated and sort of a dump. However, look beyond the esthetics you will find a gem of a place. Visited 9/9/2021 Wanting something good for dinner on our way home from the river we checked out this place by reading the reviews. Looked and sounded like our kind of place. First it's a little run down but still good to go. The staff was friendly when we walked in and said we could sit anywhere we wanted so we chose to sit in the bar. Short staffed it took a few minutes but we were not in a hurry anyway. The Margaritas were not all that great so went with a Coke. 1 Star. After ordering the food came quickly and service was good as they checked up on us with regularity. 3 Stars. Everything we ordered was very tasty. 3 1/2 Stars. But unfortunately Everything all the dishes we ordered came to us barely worm. Some quite cold. 2 Stars. We were starving and not willing to wait till they took everything back to make them hot so we just ate it as it was. To bad maybe it was just a off night and management Wasn't keeping check on the kitchen. But like I said the food was very tasty and just Maybe in the future we will try this place again. Maybe? This place is popular and one of the few restaurant / bars in Brawley that I would go to. The bar area is separate from the restaurant. Food - Good with lots of seafood dishes. The large shrimp cocktail ($12.79) was very good with great flavor. They have the standar 1,2,3 item combos with many options. I had the (shredded) beef taco with a tostada (only $7.29). The beers were cold and the service was great! Service - Great! If you're eating Mexican food in Brawley, guranteed it will be authentic or the place will be out of business. Las Chabelas has been around fore a long time and is also a good place ot have birthday parties etc. On Friday night they had a DJ with the music pumping. Good music too! Friends and I went to salvation mountain and were extremely hungry after our adventure. We picked this restaurant based on the pictures and Yelp review. Let me tell you it was disappointing the food tasted very bland to all of us. Our food was not hot. I ordered chicken mole and the chicken was barely luke warm. The server only checked in on us once. i would love to rate the food at this restaurant but, unfortunately, we never got any. We went to this restaurant after Ray, at Naty's Place, recommended it to us in January 2024. We are four adults, mid 50s to late 60s. We were promptly seated and then sat and watched as several other parties entered the restaurant were seated, and served while we sat and were refused service. We never even got to see a menu. I have never had this experience anywhere in the world. We were not drunk, we were not loud, we were not dressed inappropriately. We sat quietly and watched as everyone who entered were served but us. Not even a glass of water. At a point we said, "We will give it 15 more minutes and then leave. Every customer who entered, regardless of age or race, nationality or appearance was promptly served while we were ignored until we left. Needless to say, I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. I highly recommend La Resaca, in El Centro and The Town Pump, in Westmorland. We had excellent food and service at both of those places. read more

The best chabelas in imperial valley. They have delicious food (not the BEST Mexican food in the valley), great prices and excellent customer service. Their aguas are amazinggg and made fresh everyday and probably the best in the valley. Their soups are also some of the best and love the complementary chips and salsa. Las Chabelas never disappoints. Their food is amazing and while there you must try a Chabela which is their specialty drink of Clamato, lemon, beer and spicy salt/chile around the rim. Also they have special quesadillas which can only be found in the Imperial Valley. It is a deep fried quesadilla made with a special flour dough. It's delicious! read more

im new to this city Brawley. Lived out in Orange County and Riverside County. Also lives in Florida over 10yrs. I love nachos and fish tacos. I will say the fish tacos were a let down. no sauce to go with it very dry and instead i was given sour cream for it which i never had added to fish tacos or given that on the side. Fish had no flavor and was cold. When i got there i still waited for my order which made me think it be hot but i was wrong.Lemons were dry i squeezed and the whole inside just came off. So maybe adding some seasoning and adding some tartar sauce or cole slaw since they did provide diced cabbage and tomato. Also got nachos...some chips were stale and i even got carne asada nachos when i ordered chicken asada nachos. im not a fan of returning because i have had experience on the cooks not appreciating when one returns and not saying this place is like that i just have that rule towards everyone...if its wrong its wrong lol. carne asada was also dry and some pieces were salty. Veggies were fresh and also the guac and sour cream was good. Service was good i was asked by someone if i was taken care of which was nice. overall cant say rest of menu is the same this is just what i ordered and my opinion and expirience. I dont believe i will return i will try other mexican spots around here and order the same and see the difference :) but i was able to eat the order but not to my satisfaction. read more

Rather new to the area and having fun trying all the marvelous Mexican joints out this way. Sadly, Las Chabelas will not warrant a return visit. Very clean and neat place with plenty of tables and booths. Good customer service which i really appreciate. I ordered chili verde Ana's rice. I am a chili verde snob and know a good verde when I have it. This was not it. The dish was lukewarm and really bland. No heat at all!! DH has cheese enchilada and a Chile relleno which was ok. Overall, nothing to write home about. That's ok. Plenty more places to try!! read more

I took my grandbabies Cattle Call weekend. Having moved out of the area, this was going to be their very first special quesadilla. I had been telling them about this little slice of cheesy heaven all week. When we got to the restaurant, we were told they were all out. It was cattle call after all. My babies were crushed. I told the very sweet waitress we were there just for carne asada burritos and special quesadillas. We considered leaving to start a quest to find another place- even though Las Cabelas is BY FAR our favorite. Ten minutes later she came back to tell us they were starting a new batch!! I was SO grateful. And the babies LOVED IT! So thankful for a business that will go above and beyond. read more

Solid choice. Solid food, especially the Chile rellenos, and including the complimentary chips. Employees consistently cheerful and helpful despite obvious understaffing which I am guessing is COVID-related. You might have to wait a little longer for your order but that is the state of things right now and no reason to dock a star. read more

The last time I walked into this place, it was a Shakey's. Many, many years ago. My mother and I came in for a late lunch. Despite the lateness of the hour, there were several people in the restaurant. We were hungry, so we tucked in to the chips and salsa. My mother ordered the albóndigas soup. I liked all the vegetables in it. (I ate her carrots.) She also got a taco de carnitas. She ate it all. I got a combo with taquitos, a cheese enchilada, and a chile relleno. I enjoyed it all. The beans were excellent. There has to be some love, aka lard, in there because beans just don't have that kind of taste and mouth feel otherwise. Good iced tea. Waitress was "interesting." Came into town from the dunes for fuel and groceries. Don't let the exterior and lack of curb appeal stop you from coming in the door! Service was very good the staff was friendly and efficient. It's definitely a place for locals but has a large parking lot if you have an RV there is plenty of room. Also would be great for a large party but I would call first so they could put a few tables together. The menu has a large selection and the food was great with large portions.
