Having been born n raised in the 626 area, Chinese food in bakersfield used to be been dismal at best.... UNTIL JUN BBQ! Omg this place makes me so nostalgic of the authentic Chinese food I've had in LA. We ordered the toothpick lamb, fried pork intestine, and BBQ pork which were all so delicious and flavorful. My masseuse recommended this Chinese Restaurant. I woke up today and lazy to cook so I ordered online. My food got delivered within 30-40mins. I was so excited to eat! My orders all came with a sauce and a chili sauce. The pork buns were soft and fluffy. The skewers were tasty and portions were kind of same as a yakiniku. The soup dumplings were really good but I think the soup dried out(?) since there were not any broth inside the dumpling. The egg tarts are flaky and not that sweet which for me hits the spot. And lastly, the sticky rice with chicken which is my fave. The flavours complement each other. The taste of the chicken is not too overpowering and it's already shredded which is pretty easy to eat with the sticky rice. Excellent food. We ate at this restaurant before The Offspring concert. Food was served in a timely manner. Very tasty pot stickers and dumplings. Prices were very reasonable: $50 for three main dishes and some rice. We were all talking about making a trip back to Bakersfield just to eat here again. If you have ever driven out of town for Chinese food, you can stop! Everything I have tried is phenomenal. I highly recommend the pork with green beans and sticky rice with chicken. I love their milk tea too. Their dumplings and bao are anazing! They have a huge variety of food. All of it is really fresh, uniquely seasoned, and some of the best I've ever had. Update as of 11/3/2023. I went back again to get my Dim Sum craving. This time we tried the Chicken feet (Feng Zhao / Foang Zao). It wasssss amazingg at first bite, it was tender it had great marinade to it. It was a bit softer than most places that we've had it before, but great soft and it was still on point to satisfy anyone that usually gets this from Dim Sum restaurants. We also got the Spare Ribs with the black bean sauce and was delicious. They used potatoes instead of daikon. The sweet Bao was filled with the egg custard, but it was not to my liking as it was kind of gritty, but the wife approved. I had forgot to mentioned that I was happy to know they steam all of the food to order, the legit way with the bamboo steam basket. As of note after getting a few message about this place. I first started coming to Jun BBQ when they sold exclusive at our local farmers market. After having their soup dumplings, I knew they were going to succeed. Not only is their food super fresh and cooked to order, it is incredible. I've now had several dishes from this spot including the shrimp dumplings, potstickers, and meat skewers and each one is amazing! The service is quick and the food is easy to order and im excited to go to their actual restaurant soon. My boyfriend and I decided to have lunch here. It is a very small mom and pop restaurant which made the ambience very cozy. We ordered the soup dumplings, the potstickers, and the garlic green beans. Each entrée was delicious and full of flavor, not overly salty, but very warm and comforting. The service was exceptional. The waitress was very friendly and sweet. I've been stalking Jun BBQ on Haggin Oaks Market via Instagram and been wanting to try it. Finally I did and I was pretty satisfied. Their dumplings are great especially the soup dumpling. You can tell they are freshly made. I love their potstickers the most (which is reminiscent of Great Castle's version). Bao buns are also yummy (and big enough to share). He also delivers at no charge which is a plus since I was home bound during the time I ordered from them. I've ordered from them a couple times and have yet to be disappointed. I found this place at the farmers market and my friends and I tried almost the whole menu in one day lol.. ordering one order of almost everything ended up being SO MUCH FOOD because the servings are HUGE, but we aren't complaining! Got to the Haggin Oaks market a little bit late (past 1pm) so my first choice was already sold out - shrimp dumplings. Overheard the person in front of me wanting the same thing but was told that they only had shu mai so I tried to order that too. Unfortunately their last serving was gone too so I got some soup dumplings instead. I love their pager system which means I can walk around the farmer's market while waiting for my pager to buzz (you won't miss it, it was loud too!). Wait time was pretty decent considering it was the best-tasting dumplings I had in town. It is almost comparable to the ones we get in LA. I'm shaving off a star since it was quite pricey ($15 for 8 pieces) and they forgot my sauce when I specifically asked if it was already in the bag. Would I go back? Most probably. And maybe get there a bit earlier to be able to taste their shrimp dumplings and allow them to redeem that missing star. read more
