    Special Pho

I came with a party of 8 on a weekday for lunch. The interior was very colorful and welcoming. The food took a while to come out. But the portion sizes were quite large, especially for the pho. I ordered the special pho, which had a generous amount of meat. I also ordered the Vietnamese coffee which tasted slightly watered down compared to other places I've had it. Overall, we had a great experience and will return for more!

AMAZING Food, service and Value. I've never had a bad experience. This is one of the most consistently good restaurants in Bakersfield . Always fresh and always worth the value. It can get busy but its worth the wait.

Great service from Amy and adam!!! Food experience went above what I expected. Salt and pepper shrimp is so good. Lemon pepper wings soo good. Everything was great. Will come again

This place is Fire! Everything I have tried here is delicious. Amy, our server is adorable and friendly. Service is impeccable. The place is clean with comfortable seating. I crave the food here all the time. If you come on Wednesdays, they have hula dancers, I have missed it each visit. Hopefully, I will be in Bakersfield on a Wednesday soon! 1/29/26

Enjoyed a wonderful dinner at Maui Pho Fusion BBQ Grill. I have eaten here before but it was my husband and daughter's first time. We arrived and were seated quickly. Our server took our drink order right away, which was a nice start. My daughter and I shared the pupu platter along with an order of vegetable chow mein, and my husband ordered the Szechuan tofu. Everything tasted great, and the portion sizes were very generous, definitely enough to share. The flavors were on point and the food came out hot and fresh. My husband commented on the crisp texture of the tofu, which doesn't always happen when eating tofu. The wait staff was a little slow at times, but overall it didn't take away from the quality of the food or the experience. We left full and happy and would absolutely come back to try more items on the menu.

We ordered the pu pu platter, which had a lot of variety--skewers, potstickers, rangoons, and more. It was definitely enough food for two people, and we even had leftovers. We also ordered an extra order of chicken skewers that were made differently or had a different sauce, and those were way better than the ones on the platter. My kids ordered the chili wontons, and those were amazing--hands down a favorite at the table. Overall, all the food was good. The main downside was the service timing. Everything came out at different times, which wasn't ideal, and it seemed like there wasn't one dedicated server for the entire place. Every table was full, and it felt pretty hectic. I've been here before and usually have a very good experience, so I'm hoping they're able to provide more help for the servers because the food itself is solid. There was also plenty of seating available.

This is such an elevated "pho" place with a variety of other options like dumplings, bbq, etc. Love how organized they are and how clean this place is. The staff is welcoming and friendly. The person who took our order was attentive and friendly. I got their special pho with beef, chicken and shrimps and it was amazing. I forgot what my husband got but he liked it as well. We will definitely be back!

This place is amazing! Everything on the menu is delicious. Some of my favorites are the salt n pepper shrimp, Steve's special, wor wonton soup, combo pho, volcano rice, salt n pepper calamari, drunken noodles...you can literally get anything and be content with it. Everything has so much flavor. This new location is very modern. It's bright and very clean. The staff has always been very kind and the owners are amazing people.

Maui Pho was a great experience! The beef pho was delicious full of flavor and really hit the spot. The 1-item combo was also really good. On top of that, the service was great and made the visit even better. I'll definitely be coming back!

Hot n sour soup that came with lunch special. It's ok. a bit watered down

It's very meh. While Maui Pho has the name/ word "pho" in it... pls don't get mistaken that you're heading into a Vietnamese restaurant (like me). Maui Pho is a case of confused identify; or fusion, as some may call it. You'll find Chinese (think hot n sour soup, fried rice or chow mein), Vietnamese (pho), Hawaiian (think spam musubi or loco loco), or "Panda Express" (orange chicken) here.... The moment we sat down, we're like uh oh... Their $12.99 lunch special is not bad for the price. Other than that, everything is overpriced and very mediocre in taste ... think deep friend almost everything. My Maui chow fun (not a deep fried dish) was a whopping $20! For the price and the taste, you'll do better at Panda Express.

This is my first time eating at Maui pho at the new location. There are some new items on the menu but a lot of the menu is the same. I got kalua pork special, it was pretty good but the brisket eggroll was . Sweet and sour chicken was really good and it had pieces of watermelon in it that put it over the top. I will definitely try again.

There is a wait time but if you want really good food, it's worth the wait. Service is friendly and really nice. The food, honestly what else is there to say but FANTASTIC! Spring rolls were good but not crazy about it. However the pho was flavorful, filling, and felt like a warm hug. Thai tea and lychee lemonade were definitely a must have. The menu is packed with a variety of Asian cuisine, and if you're in the mood for a little bit of everything, come down with your family and share some great food!!

The food here is delicious! Service is great but wait times can be long due to this restaurant being a popular destination. but it is definitely a must try here in Bakersfield! Their menu has not only pho and rice dishes but also hawaiian plates as well. The restaurant is clean and well kept and the vibes are great. Seating is adequate but with how many guests they have wait times will depend on what hours and days of the week you come.

Coconut Joe's is still a welcomed regular at any family gathering and a personal favorite of mine to this day. They've always had a strong burger. The huli huli burger n fries which is their pineapple burger is my favorite. For family style eating, their half pack and full packs are perfect. Their tri tip is good on its own, but with the corn, rice, and coleslaw mixed in with it is next level and the flavor always brings me back good times. The vibe inside is super fun. They fully embrace the surfer theme and have surf decorations wall to wall. Their televisions play classic surf trip movies which are fun to watch. Sometimes in the winter they will play snowboard and ski trip videos. Back in my youth, this was one of my favorite parts of the experience. I still love it, but don't get to dine in as often as I used to. They're great for take out, though I find the burger and fries are best enjoyed fresh in the restaurant.

The service was top notch, and the ambiance is over the top wonderful (as always). We had the tri-tip, bbq chicken, and then split a large plate of fish & chips. The fish was about half of what you would get at lengthwise for a similar price, but very delicious. The tri-tip was as good as I remember and waaaaaaaaay more flavorful than Harris BBQ (on Buena Vista). The bbq chicken was delicious, but the drumstick was the size of my index finger, so small compared with 11 years ago, but all chicken seems to be getting smaller and smaller at all restaurants. Overall, we are happy with the results, and it's nice to see that a restaurant that weathered COVID and all the price hikes is still making quality food. (We only took off one star for portion size as at $66 for lunch, there are many places that will fill us up...such as Lengthwise).

Nobody plans to spend an evening in Bakersfield. You pass through it on the way to somewhere else…read more-- Mammoth, the Sequoias, the long flat grind up the 99 to Sacramento -- and if you stop at all, it's for gas or a bathroom or because your BMW's brakes have decided, somewhere around the Grapevine, that they'd rather not. Thank you, Weatherford BMW of Berkeley, for the near-death experience and, inadvertently, for one of the best nights out I've had in years. Stranded and waiting on repairs, we checked into The Padre, the only hotel in Bakersfield that feels like someone with a subscription to Dwell had a hand in it, and set out walking through a downtown that time has treated with more kindness than reputation suggests. There's a Woolworth's luncheonette still hanging on. There are old brick facades and wide sidewalks and the particular quiet of a Central Valley evening when the heat finally breaks. And then, on 18th Street, there is Tiki-Ko, and suddenly you are no longer in Bakersfield at all. You are, instead, inside someone's magnificent obsession. Tiki-Ko is a proper tiki bar -- not a tiki-themed cocktail lounge, not a place that bought some bamboo at a craft store and called it atmosphere, but a genuine, committed, floor-to-ceiling shrine to mid-century Polynesian fantasy. The carvings are real. The lighting is correct -- which is to say, barely there. The mugs are serious. There are pufferfish lamps and carved totems and the whole glorious taxonomy of tiki ephemera, accented here and there with a skate-culture edge that keeps it from feeling like a museum. It's reverent without being precious. The drinks are the real thing. Mai Tais built with actual orgeat. Zombies that earn the name. The bartenders make them with the kind of care and enthusiasm that tells you this isn't a gig -- it's a calling. They want you to be here. They want to talk about rum. They want you to try the Painkiller. In a city that most Angelenos regard as a punch line, somebody built a world-class cocktail bar and filled it with joy, and the regulars clearly know it. You will not plan a trip to Bakersfield. But if you find yourself there -- by mechanical failure, by accident, by the peculiar mercy of a bad brake job -- walk downtown. Find the tiki bar. Order a second round. Stay longer than you intended. Bakersfield has been underestimated, and Tiki-Ko is the proof.

The service or person behind the bar was chill and super friendly. I came in on the earlier side of a Friday evening, so although people were trickling in, the place wasn't packed. Since I was only able to stay for a drink, I just wanted to walk down and check out 'The Sinking Ship' and was thoroughly impressed by the decor (well pretty much for both spaces). Definitely a place I'd love to grab drinks with friends or spend more time at.
