Love the pistacho cake, rich and creamy, not too sweet. Fare price (less than 8 bucks), Way better value than drinks. Good atmosphere for study tho, lots ppl with laptops. I cannot believe what just happened to this local place around the corner from where I live. I went in for breakfast (was just here with 3 other people a few weeks ago) and asked the owner if he had WiFi. He said he did. I asked the password and he said "after you order, I'll give it to you." Fine! I placed my order and he said "anything else?" I said maybe just some water for my dogs. I noticed on the way in an empty dog water bowl which looked very dirty. He pointed to the bowl - "right there." I said I can't use that as it's not only empty but it looks like there's dirt inside. He then replied "I don't care, do what you want but I don't want to serve you." And just like that....I walked out. Granted, at the best of times the owner is not the most pleasant person but this is unbelievable. I will never go back and I'll make sure some of the other regulars know about this complaint. I usually don't like leaving negative reviews, but how this restaurant has achieved even three stars is beyond me. I went here for a special meal, and as soon as I walked in I knew there was something wrong with this place. The furniture looks like it was salvaged from a mediaeval castle, and not in a good way! Everything just feels dusty and gross. When we sat down, I was surprised to see water being served to us in the same type of plastic cups I had as a child! Next, we made our way over to the counter to order, where I ordered the eggs Benedict, which is a favourite of mine. After a roughly twenty five minute wait, the food arrived and I was horrified by what I saw on the plate. The toast was mushy and damp, the ham tasted like tongue, the egg was far too overdone, (I ordered medium, they were not runny at all) and the hollandaise was even worse! It tasted like someone had eaten cheese and then puked it back up all over my food! I found out afterwards that everyone in my party thought it was just as bad as I did. And we all got different dishes! On my way out, I got a look at the kitchen, and let me tell you, if I had seen it BEFORE I started eating, I would have been out of there FAST. Good work, Juliet's Café, you successfully failed at making four separate dishes from your menu, and ruined all of our days. I ordered side of potatoes that came soaked in oil, when I asked to bring it back the owner refused to take it and turn his back to me. With $40 for 2 breakfast of eggs with toast and eggs with pancakes I didn't expect this place to refuse taking back a side dish of $2.5, ridiculous. A casual brunchstop in Kits. This place is open and roomy, and windows all around makes it feel like home. Their menu consists of benedicts, omelettes, and standard breakfast items. Order up front, take the number back to your table, and food will be served right to you. Self-serve water pitcher in the front. I had the Eggs Florentine which was surprisingly good. (Oh, you've been renamed to Juliet) Perhaps the Montague's seized the English muffins and hollandaise for the Eggs Benny, leaving the Capulet's with only sourdough and Parmesan sauce to make a breakfast with (Oh dear!) It was good, not great, but I didn't feel compelled to add any additional seasoning to the dish - so bravo on hitting the salt to sauce ratio well! For the price, I would have expected a little more on my plate - like a third act. A fruit cup perhaps? And without an encore for coffee - this definitely isn't a palace to linger at - unless you want to pay for all of your refills. I could be swayed to go back to try the french toast - it looked delish with strawberries and little glimpses of icing sugar floating all over the plate. (PS. Also, I find the interior a little too cluttered, I feel like I'm in someone's house who has too many knickknacks, which I personal don't enjoy. This sweet place has such great service and a wonderful menu. When I learned that everything was made fresh and to order I was really impressed. Nothing frozen, nothing pre-made, or par-cooked, just real home cooked food. We had the blueberry pancakes and loved them. My friend had the eggs benedict with a side of toast and some tasty sausages. The sausages were so good that we ordered a second helping. The service was fast and friendly. Highly recommend this spot. Oh, and for those that have issues with the pricing, perhaps next time you can read the menu board before ordering so that it doesn't surprise you. I love people that place their order and then take a photo of the receipt as if to say, WOW! This place was so over priced. YOU ORDERED IT! I usually come in here when I drop my dog off for grooming at Woof's. This place is quiet weekday mornings, but the staff are so busy and the place so big that I never feel awkward about being there for an hour. If I lived around the neighbourhood, I could see myself hanging out with a book or laptop for an afternoon... with my dog... in the patio--- gotta move to Kits! I have their coffee with sourdough bread toast (YUM). I've also tried their breakfast with eggs. It was good food, no complaints. You order and pay, and you take a seat and the food's brought out to you: very nice. By the staff being "busy". I'm not sure what they are doing, prepping for lunch/dinner service? Anyway, I noticed that they're in the back kitchen a lot and I would have to either wait, or get attention with sadly tentative "Hello? Hello..?"s. Once, this couple came in, and no one was at the register, and they were waiting and waiting, but no one came out, so they got all huffy and left. (Yes, I could have said something here instead of witnessing all this smugly behind my cup of coffee... meh, just didn't have the samaritan spirit in me that day) All I can say is, either wait, or yell louder. I like this place. Came here for a grilled cheese and ham sandwich- what arrived had all the right components but was far from a grilled cheese. The ham was cold, the cheese barely melted and the bread was over toasted and dry. The sandwich was nearly $12 and did not come with any sides! Juliets cafe looks like it came out of a studio ghibli movie with its plants and stunning decor. It seems more of a movie set than an actual cafe. It has a great atmosphere and feels very warm and welcoming. However, where juliets comes short is in its service and prices. When I went service was unfriendly even though it wasn't busy and for what I was given I felt seriously overcharged. However, juliets does have an advantage over other cafes given its space to accomodate large groups and its large tables which are good for working or drawing. I was really confused when I first walked in the door. I'm not an idiot but it always helps to have some signs for first time customers so they're not standing dumbfounded at the door wondering why no one has come to seat them. It took the staffer behind the counter a few minutes to realize it wasn't that obvious and he shouted over, "How can I help you?" so I asked how it works and he said, "Order anything you like with me and then find a seat." and that's what I did. Maybe an "Order Here" sign is in order. The place itself is alright but it seems they won't clear and clean the tables unless you stand by it and wait for it to be cleaned, I'm more of a proactive kind of person so that was a bit annoying. It would've been understandable if they had been really busy but they weren't. They redeemed themselves with the food. Nothing particularly special, just really well done and at reasonable prices. I would definitely come back and give them another shot, now that I know how it all works. read more

This is my absolute favourite place to go in Kits when we're craving a good breakfast and a long, chilled-out (late!) morning hangout spot. No, it's not Sophie's -- but it doesn't have the lines or attitude of Sophie's and other "too cool for Kits" places in the area, either. Instead, Juliet's Cafe has a cheery family-run vibe, where you can happily sit and chat for hours on end and feel totally comfortable doing so. I love how there are family pictures all over the walls, and a menagerie of aquariums and plants maintained by the owners -- really makes this spot feel like a kitchen away from your own kitchen. Lunch prices are a tad steep, but the breakfasts are worth every penny, especially the pancakes and the french toast (which comes with the *good* kind of fresh fruit, ie raspberries, strawberries etc, not the typical filler/melon stuff you'd get at other places). Good fresh-made muffins are always available at the front too. Keep doin' what you're doin', Juliet's. Kits needs more down-to-earth spots like yourself ;) read more

Hollandaise is forgone for a thick Parmesan sauce, spilling over the poached eggs and adding a new dimension of flavour to a traditional benny. Their lunch menu consists primarily of salads and sandwiches (cold and toasted), each one topped with a host of different vegetable combinations and roasted meats. The dinner menu is large and extensive. They offer a range of different pasta dishes and roasts. The food generally has an Italian slant, with rich basil infused sauces and sundried tomatoes dominating most of the dishes. My favourite is the linguine. Served with an array of Portobello, shiitake, oyster, enoki... all the subtly different flavours blend and give what would be a classic dish an added dimension. They also offer catering services. So I finally got to try this place. I was craving breakfast and I heard I could still get it here around noon. I am giving this place a 3.5.... I ordered the spinach, goat cheese and mushroom omelette. I believe it is called Tiffany. First off let me say, that it was made to perfection. The egg was a beautiful color and was so fluffy. The filling was quite good as well. The omelette came with a side of bread and potatoes. So my only complaint about the food was that there were barely any potatoes. I mean maybe half of a small potato. I just think, for $14 bucks, you should get a decent amount of food. So that was sort of disappointing. My friend ordered a sandwich that she loved. So it seems like the food is pretty good. The customer service was very good. She was polite and attentive, even though she was the only waitress at noon, and it was fairly busy. The ambiance is very old, casual. It looks like a diner except all wood. It's cozy for sure. So I would come back here, and try something different out. If you're in the area, give it a go, especially if you love breakfast for lunch. read more

Due to other reviews, I was expecting great service, good value, and an overall positive experience. However, that's not what I ended up with. We had to clear our own table on the patio and ask for someone to come wipe it down after we had already been sitting for 5 minutes. Normally I would be understanding, except there was only one other table seated when we arrived. My partner order the salmon eggs Benny. For $16 he got two eggs cooked very differently (one runny and the other over cooked) on small pieces of toast and about 10 small pieces of potato. I had the original breakfast with eggs over easy. The eggs were good, a small handful of potatoes, and three half pieces of toast. The only redeeming quality was the bacon! Overall, not worth the price and we probably won't be back. read more

The brunch menu was long, and there was something for everyone - omelettes, pancakes, french toast, eggs benedict, sausage, bacon, etc. I ordered the eggs benny (there is a regular option and a salmon option). It came with a Parmesan sauce rather than a Hollandaise sauce, and a side of potatoes, and was surprisingly delicious. The coffee here was also excellent and came in a giant mug. Service was fast and friendly. You order at the counter and then they bring it out to your table for you when it is ready. There is lots of seating space both inside and outside, and it's a great spot for both families and singletons alike. read more

Food is so-so. But the main issue is with the guy working as cashier. He was REALLY rude to one of us due to a mistake while ordering. My friend ordered a tea with oat milk and she had trouble expressing it properly (her English is not the strongest). The cashier understood she wanted a tea and an oat meal. We got the oat meal at the table, said we hadn't ordered it and went back to the cashier to ask for a refund. She got her money back, but not without listening that "she couldn't go around businesses ordering things like that". The cashier guy said: "If you don't understand something, you ask for help before ordering. I asked you 5 times if you wanted an oat meal and you said yes all 5 times". Dude, we are CUSTOMERS. How about assisting your customers when you notice they're having trouble to undesrtand what you say? Besides, you run a business in VANCOUVER. A town flooded with tourists from all over the world who happen not to be native English speakers. As a business runner, I would say you lack a bit of vision when it comes to the big picture. I ordered a traditional eggs benny with UberEats from this restaurant. The potatoes were not fully cooked and lacked any sort of seasoning. The eggs benny had cheddar on it for some reason.... not sure why you would add an ingredient that isn't stated//would not taste good on an eggs benny regardless. And the ham was not edible, most of the ham was tough and I had to cut around it. Not impressed, will never eat there again. read more

Was meant to go to a different restaurant but they were closed, so since this was close and open we went here instead. I've been noticing a trend of burger/sandwich places giving you only the main with no side so I wasn't super surprised that sides were an additional add on. But what I wasn't expecting was to pay $14 plus tax for 3 slices of bread, 2 slices of tomato, a piece of lettuce, 2 slices of bacon and one measly thin little strip of lamb (this was their "lamb club"). Seriously there was 5 times more bread than there was other ingredients combined. I would have been better off just getting a cup of coffee and enjoying the conversation.
