I visited this breakfast joint after many years of being out of the country and I have to say that thankfully nothing has changed ( other than the prices ). With the place being located right next to my hotel that did not provide breakfast, it was a great experience! I arrived around 9am and ordering was extremely quick. The food arrived within 10 minutes and was warm. Overall, I do recommend this place if you are staying at a nearby hotel that does not provide breakfast! read more

I would definitely recommend this restaurant for anyone who wants a big portioned breakfast! I have been to 4 different locations of De Dutch...However, in terms of service quality this location in North Van takes the 1st place for me. I went to this breakfast restaurant with my sister 3 days ago and got the friendliest service! Our waitress greeted us with a smile on her face and a friendly tone of voice. She made sure we had coffee at all times. The food was fresh and delicious! Their prices are reasonable considering their food portion sizes! They have their own parking lot so you don't have to stress about finding parking. The restaurant is very clean with good amount of tables for their customers. I will go back for sure!! read more

The food was pretty good! As a Dutch person myself I was very excited to eat some food at this restaurant. My dad had an 'uitsmijter'. Compared to the uitsmijter we make at home it was really small and kind of disappointing. Also the orange juice was definitely not fresh. But overall the food was nice The service was Okey. I have to disagree with the first review. We have been to this De Dutch twice - the first time we went to North Van specifically to go there; this time, it was on the way. Both times, I have found the service to be excellent - cheery and attentive. And, even though they were busy, food arrived prompt, hot, and delicious. Probably a little biased since I'm a tourist, but this place was great. I liked the concept since it's something we really don't have anymore in the states. I remember Pannekoeken restaurants when I was a kid. The farmers breakfast is what my friends ordered. Huge servings. Its De Dutch, so the food is fantastic. Once again it is super small because it is a De Dutch and they all seem to be like that. This place is rather slow, in comparison to the other one, but the staff are always nice and cheerful. We went the other day and it filled up in about 5 minutes after we got there with a bunch of kids and the one waitress was still super attentive and happy. Two words: GLUTEN FREE!!!! In addition to their delightful menu of authentic dutch cuisine, they have gluten free bread and pancakes! Their traditional dutch pancakes are delicious, my kids devoured them and the bacon was perfect. This is a gem hidden in the hotel. Had a turkey bacon breakfast platter for breakfast today, it was my first time eating at a De Dutch. I was pleased, it was a nice traditional breakfast that was very filling. Tasted like a homemade meal, nicer then Dennys, thats down the street, in my opinion. I'm giving this location 3 stars because the service wasn't the greatest, took awhile to take our orders, didn't give us utensils to eat with until we asked and the server spilt a coffee at our table, luckily not on any one though! Never tried pannenkoek before this place and I like it! I don't have anything to compare it to though, but the service was friendly, atmosphere was typical breakfast place but good, and we definitely didn't leave hungry! Husband had the Hash pannenkoek and I had the Abby Perogie pannenkoek. Both had good flavours, I liked how mine had the "toppings" cooked into it, but with my husbands it definitely worked better to cook and serve all the toppings separately. I am definitely going to try pannekoeken again! Next time, sweet not savoury! If you are like me and have never eaten pannekoeken before, I would recommend trying De Dutch. So many options/flavours to pick from you can't go wrong. read more

Absolutely love this place! Amazing food and portions. Although our hotel offered complimentary breakfast we skipped it to eat here. Love their Dutch pancakes, one was shared between 3 people after we had our meal. I have ordered a variety of menu items and have loved them all. I would recommend having the pancakes with real maple syrup, it's an extra charge but worth it. I live in Los Angeles and wish they restaurant existed here. In our return trip to Canada in winter of 2017, we booked out hotel around the location of this restaurant. Love it! read more

Love this place the quality is obvious and the vibe is undeniable. I was in Vancouver for a couple of weeks from Regina and decided to drive there for breakfast all the way from east 46th ave and boundary, boy it was worth it! The lady that served me had such a delightful persona it just made me feel happy to be there. Then the food came and it was like that food critic in ratatouille. I was blasted back 20 years when I used to live by terminal and main st in van and went to the De Dutch across from the McDonald's on main st. We were staying across the street at a nearby inn that served continental breakfast (no need to go out and spend right?). The day before we left town, we decided that try this place as a breakfast treat. We ordered several savory breakfast items. Pannenkoek was fine but nothing impressive. DeBakon taste like lean bacon and sausage was a little hard and dry. I paid $14.5 for my order, my family with 2 kids meal, tip etc was $50 for breakfast. Not worth it. read more

Found pretty disappointing. We stayed in the Surestay Best Western and this place is adjacent, so we thought it will be good and quick to have breakfast there . The waitress is very rude , she seated us in a table which was not cleaned , when we told her , she didn't even try to apologize or clean it she rudely asked to seat elsewhere . Then serving tea , we waited for 10 minutes for her come and take our order . There was only another family just came after us , so it was not busy at all. It felt she is about to scold while taking order , she would not look at you and talk looking down below. Food was ok...I took omelet with chicken, chicken was dry .. also if you order black or green tea , then will serve Kirkland brand tea for $3 ! read more

The food is good, the service is abysmal. We came in wanting a table for four, and were promptly seated. As soon as we say, a young Persian server (wearing a skirt that left nothing to the imagination) told us to get up and get outside as she already had another table waiting for those seats. No please or anything. We got up and went outside the doors and asked her how long we'd have to wait for a table. She looked at us and just walked away. Seriously. I couldn't make this stuff up if I wanted to. At this point we asked another server if she could tell us and she said she's put our name on the list. Still no estimate. We've been here before, and the food is amazing, I'll give them that. But the service is continuously getting worse. Last time k was there I was given whipped cream that was clearly off. I asked for it to be replaced and was told that it's just the way it tasted. I asked for a new one from another server and was finally given one (which tasted fine and not off). Anyways, I think I'm done with this place to be honest. If I wanted crappy service, I'd go to Denny's. read more

I wouldn't make a special trip to come here unless you happen to be staying inside the hotel. This place is SLOW. Even if it's not that busy, it takes them forever to get around to you and even more forever to get your food. I don't understand why it takes so long.
