I would definitely recommend this restaurant for anyone who wants a big portioned breakfast! I have been to 4 different locations of De Dutch...However, in terms of service quality this location in North Van takes the 1st place for me. I went to this breakfast restaurant with my sister 3 days ago and got the friendliest service! Our waitress greeted us with a smile on her face and a friendly tone of voice. She made sure we had coffee at all times. The food was fresh and delicious! Their prices are reasonable considering their food portion sizes! They have their own parking lot so you don't have to stress about finding parking. The restaurant is very clean with good amount of tables for their customers. I will go back for sure!!

I can't recommend this place enough, Consistent good food and service. The waitresses always made sure we had what we needed. The only thing i recommend is you come with big appetites because boy the portions are huge!

Ordered Boer bends. Very good coffee was excellent but service was slow and had to ask for more coffee but overall great breakfast.

I love the breakfast here! Come with a big appetite if you're going big! Or share with someone. It's a small spot but awesome to get your day started!

Excellent service, delicious food, even the coffee was extra ordinary! Hash browns to perfection. Pannekoeken was so good!

Make sure you try the lobster bisque as it's one of the meatiest I've had to date; full of that shellfish flavour. The French onion soup is an eye catcher but the broth could use a bit more richness and flavour. Beef bourignon was suggested and I'm glad I took the friendly waitress' recommendation as it was a warm hug on a deep plate. I'd opt to swap for roasted potatoes instead of the mash but the mash does soak up all that delicious stew. The jambalaya is full of different proteins and if you're a fan of that, then I'd make sure to eat this perfectly cooked rice dish. I finished off with a banana bread pudding which was exactly that, banana bread in that bread pudding form; Personally I was hoping for bread pudding that was banana flavoured but it was still ooey gooey goodness. Burgoo should be packed to the brim with this menu for these prices and the friendliness of the staff!

We must like it, we even bought their cookbook to try some of the recipes, especially the Fondumental, which dragged us back there again and again. It wasn't nearly as plentiful or as yummy as we remembered it, but it's still good. The sandwiches and soups have always been rib sticking and tasty. The ambiance has remained the same over the years, a little dark, but the fireplace and the vintage posters are cool. Our server Gary was excellent, Johnny on the spot with all that we were looking for. Their wine and beer is all local, which is a thing these days. My lobster bisque with the FAB salad hit the spot, and the bread piece was exceptional. The lovely K had the onion soup which she liked although said it could use a little more salt. If you want to enjoy a hearty meal on the North Shore down by the water, but not on the water, give it a try, you will not be disappointed!

I have short legs and the bar seats have my legs dangling. (They offered the bar immediately when we came in). Secondly, Ash was our server and she has a remarkable presence, very personable and her kindness shows through. I'd return just to see her. The food was also a hit, I had the Gold (rush?) Poutine with Berkshire Pork and truffle. This bowl was hefty and I'm kinda ashamed I ate every bite but it was so delicious. There was care and attention as they made this bowl because I was able to have topping on every bite. There were cheese curds on the bottom which had pull even at the end of the meal! The Brown butter hollandaise paired well with the truffle. And the pork was crispy and plentiful. The fries are so good and perfect vehicle for all the quality toppings. My spouse had the Gold standard waffle with bacon lardon and raved about the taste and texture of the waffle. Yep, we will be back!

The Eggs Florentine…read more The construction of this classic egg dish in regards to the ingredients is spot on. Each individual ingredient paired with the rest is not only creative but culinarily harmonious. Imagine....a perfectly toasted crisp butter croissant with a thinly covered sliver of Tomato Jam, a delicate spread of smashed avocado and perfectly seasoned steamed Spinach all topped with a medium poached egg taking a final bow for the encore before the feast. That would've been ideal. It's not how it was. There was an overload of Hollandaise and an excessive amount of Tomato Jam, which oddly enough tasted just like Strawberry Jam. So, with the cream of the Hollandaise and the sweetness of the Jam, and it all being way too much..... I could not taste the spinach, nor the avocado, and nor the yolk, which was such a pity because those are all incredible flavours in their own right. Sadly, the amount of Jam and Sauce macheted its way through more than half the flavour profile this dish could've had. It just ended up having a very clear dominating taste of the sweet Jam and the cream of the Hollandaise. That's what it was reduced down to unfortunately for this dish. Also, it was ordered medium poached but served soft. The Service nonetheless was great. Friendly hostess and my server Hayleigh was wonderful and executed her job with ease and high standard.

The market sits on Granville Island, which used to be an industrial area before being transformed in the 1970s into a cultural and food hub. Getting there is part of the fun: you can take a quick water taxi across False Creek, drive, or grab a regular taxi. We went the easy route and arrived by car, but I'd love to try the water bus next time for the full experience. We got there later in the evening on a Sunday, so they closed early and time was limited. Before I even stepped inside, I spotted a vendor making maple candy--the kind that is poured onto ice and rolled up o to a stick. Highly recommend giving this very Canadian treat a try! Inside, it's exactly what you hope for: a lively space packed with vendors--produce, baked goods, prepared foods, local specialties. I had a short must-try list, starting with Lee's Donuts, Siegel's Bagels, and a hunt for Nanaimo bars, the iconic no-bake Canadian dessert named after the city of Nanaimo in British Columbia. Even with little time, it was fun weaving through the stalls and admiring all the products. Since we were visiting during the holidays, there were extra vendors selling arts, crafts, and locally made sweets, which made the whole place feel even more festive. We picked up bottles of maple syrup to bring home as gifts and also tried a few canelés. After we enjoyed our dinner, I stepped outside and took a moment to soak in the view--city lights reflecting on the water, the bridge glowing in the distance, everything calm and picturesque. It was a quiet contrast to the busy market inside and ended the visit on a really peaceful note. Definitely take in the view if you have a minute! Even though we didn't have as much time as I would have liked, it was still a great experience. Granville Island Public Market absolutely lives up to its "must-do" reputation.
