I came here for a company launch party last night. It's a cute and cozy bar with 3 sections. Our party set up in a small corner and with the amount of people that came, it was pretty packed. There was a good mix of people, but I can see it getting crowded with local college students. It has a more laid back feel, not the rowdy style like the other bars in the area. The happy hour specials were great. Beers were $5 and mixed drinks were $8. I didn't get to try their specialty cocktails but they had made a special drink for our party which was tasty. This East Village establishment has awesome drink specials: all beer if $5 and wine & well-drinks are half-priced AS WELL AS the specialty cocktails ($8 instead of $13)! Given how awesome this deal is, you can imagine the bar got a bit crowded. Christine is a genius and managed to snag a table. After I waited at the bar for our drinks (it took about 10 minutes to order), we found out once I was seated again that there was waitress service. Oh well, sometimes you live and you learn. At least we were able to order our second round without going to the bar - the wait wasn't much shorter but at least I didn't spill! For my first cocktail, I got the Junior's Levee, made with Old Grand Dad Whiskey, fresh blackberries, lemon, cracked mint leaves and simple syrup. I did like this cocktail but felt it was a bit teeny. Sometimes those fancy glasses end up backfiring on the customer. For my second drink, I got the Maple Old Fashioned. I'm not sure what spirits were used in this cocktail (no further details on the menu), but I loved it! It was a normal sized drink and had a lovely taste to it. If you're looking for a solid Happy Hour with specialty cocktails, this is a great option. It does get crowded though, so try to come earlier! read more

I went here this weekend with a group of friends. They let me reserve an area in front since we had a larger group getting together. They were so helpful and easy to coordinate with. The drinks were great and served in mason jars which I loved. The bar played awesome 90s music and had a great vibe. My friends and I had our 24th birthday party here and it was AMAZING!!! Rory was great to work with and made sure that everyone was having an amazing time!! $50 for a $4.9 dollar bottle of Andre - bad quality sparkling wine is pretty unforgivable particularly when the conversation with the Bar tender went down like this: We would like a bottle of prosecco please! I don't have prosecco but can give you a bottle of champagne for the same price, and then opens up a bottle of cheap sparkling wine from California that costs $4 and tastes like bubble gum. This is an indication of a bar that does not respect itself or it's customers and is rather in it to scam passers by that won't come back again. celebrated my boyfriend's birthday here this past weekend on a Saturday night and everything was perfect. It was a surprise party and he was 100% surprised. Gene, the owner, was very responsive by email and helped coordinate an area for a group of 15-20 of us. It was originally booked up since it was a last minute request, but he made it happen! No cutting fees for a cake, and we brought our own snacks, and even made a charcuterie board. We were allowed to bring all the food at no extra costs. Bar opened up early, great drinks, had no fee to rent the large space in the back, and had happy hour prices the whole time. I've only been here a handful of times, so I will keep this short and sweet. They have HH until 9 pm (even on a Saturday). This includes $6 draft beers, well drinks, and house wines (they sometimes have prosecco too!). It's a pretty divey atmosphere, but you can always get a seat - or at least I have all the times I've been there. Did we just become best friends?! Yep, we did. I've walked by this place a bunch and happy I finally stopped in last week. JB is an affordable cocktail bar (chances are you'll be there during some sort of happy hour) with a relaxed, dive-y feel and good tunes... so right up my alley. Drinks are served in larger sized cups than most cocktail bars and there's a TV, so no worries about those $12 one sip wonders or the stuffiness of other lounges. I suggest getting the Winter's Coming and Junior Smash off of the cocktail list (both bourbon based), which will run you $8 during HH. I didn't see any food being served and there were a dozen pizzas on a table, so I'm not sure if they closed the kitchen or what, but that's not stopping me from coming back here. Last night was a blast and I really would like to give a shoutout to the bartender Philip who managed the entire place by himself. A friend of mine got a private room here to throw a farewell post-graduation party. Turns out that we actually didn't need the room since the place was mostly empty except for our large party and occasional stragglers. Seriously though, props to Philip for singlehandedly making all of our drinks! The drinks were strong and delicious. He also made a couple of drinks that we requested which weren't on the menu. (Sorry, mojitos are just my go-to!) He is such a nice guy and I feel bad that he had to deal with all of our shenanigans. We didn't realize until the end of the night after we closed our tabs that he charged us happy hour prices even though we were there from 10PM-3AM. Bless your soul!!!! I'm not sure if they regularly do that or if it was because we had a large group, but I would've ordered even more drinks had I known earlier. I cannot say enough good things about this place!
