I had my birthday in the VIP room and Rory couldn't have been kinder and more accommodating when scheduling and the room was perfect. And shockingly, there was no minimum to reserve whereas other places charge an arm and a leg. Jackson was our bartender and made the perfect drinks and was just a lovely human overall. And when I told him LCD Soundsystem was my favorite band, he put on a bunch of songs which made my birthday PERFECT. 5 stars for this place. Highly recommend. read more

I heard from Tiktok that this place offers free rentals of their party rooms so I decided to inquire for my partner's 30th. I got in contact with Rory their coordinator who was super helpful and accommodating (I had to change the date last minute and they did their best to fit us in). The whole process was super smooth. They do ask for a $100 refundable deposit which I got back the day after my event! No drink minimum and they let us decorate for our event and even provide our own DJ. Found this place as a pit stop before having dinner. It's a basement bar spot at the corner of 2nd Ave. Drinks were good, we got the Black Mule and Mr. Thursday. As for the apps, very average and basic. They had waffle fries on the menu which is QR Code btw but they didn't have it available so we got the curly fries instead which was the best thing out of the others. This is literally THE BEST place to host a private event. There is no minimum for reserving the private space, which is unheard of in this city. I hosted a fundraising event at Juke Bar and from the very beginning, Rory was communicative, responsive, and so lovely to coordinate with. They allowed us to bring outside food, provided a sound system with a mic, and had an amazing space with a great vibe that fits around 60-70 people. And as if that wasn't enough, they even gave 10% of all our drink sales back to the non-profit we were fundraising for. Drinks were great, well-priced, and Rory and bartender Conall were literally the best. I will be RAVING about Juke Bar to everyone who wants to host a private event in the future. read more

I hosted an Alzheimer's Association fundraiser at Juke Bar East Village on October 15th, and unfortunately, the unprofessional way it was handled left me feeling completely misled and ultimately regretting holding it there in the first place. When I first coordinated the event, the manager told me they "donate 10% of sales back to your charity." Because that was broad, I clarified in person the day of that this meant 10% of all food and drink sales between 7-10pm, not just my group's. The bartender confirmed that several times and even reassured me the wristbands I brought to help track my party weren't necessary because the "entire bar" would be counted. About halfway through the night, he updated me that we'd already hit $1,800, which honestly brought me to tears thinking of what that could mean for the money raised for the cause. The next day, the manager completely backtracked. He said only my group's sales were counted, that the bartender misspoke, and that my group "probably spent" around $1,300. Because I was told there was no need to track anyone's tabs, I now have no way to verify that number. The manager also never shared the full bar total, which would've cleared up the discrepancy. While we're at it, one of my friends credit cards was charged hundreds of dollars for an order that was not his and someone at my company covered my entire team's food (lots of it) and cocktails, so considering those two things alone I'm not confident in the way this is being tracked nor the spend that should've been used as a frame of reference for the contributions to the fundraiser. I came ready to track meticulously, arrived early to discuss, and confirmed details multiple times with multiple people with me to verify. For them to change course afterward, not honor what was agreed upon the night before for the sake of charity, and chock it all up to the bartender not knowing what he was doing is disheartening, frustrating, and quite frankly a lazy effort to run a business and host events for a good cause. I will not be returning to Juke Bar, and would strongly suggest avoiding them for any charitable or fundraising events. read more

Came here on a Saturday night recently with 18 of my friends to celebrate my 40th birthday. I got in touch with the bar's owner, Rory, in advance to make sure we had a space for all of us. We didn't have a minimum to meet, and Rory was super responsive to get us set up and check on our timing and attendance numbers. He even offered a private room due to a last minute cancelation from someone else. We had our own access to the bartenders and a sweet room away from the rest of the bar, which was packed at times, given the Saturday night rush. The vibe was incredible. Fun mashup DJs all night long and we stayed until nearly closing. We danced the night away and had the best time (it was the best night of my life and I've had many great ones in my 4 decades on this planet!). The music felt like a playlist I would make, so much good stuff! Truly felt like the fates brought me to this place for a reason and we got wonderful treatment. The bartenders loved us, and we loved them! Def coming back next time we visit NYC. Such a fun place! All we had to put down was a $100 deposit, which Rory refunded to me within a couple of days. Drop by or get in touch in advance if you have a large group. They clearly had a couple of other celebrations going on at the same time and it was fun vibes all around! I booked the private room for my birthday for 25 people and even went in person to confirm the room. They then put my party in a weird side corner back behind the private room. NOT the room to book. They booked another party there and tried to make extra money by shoving us in a literal closet. They said since mine was 25 people and theirs was 40 they got the real room. My party of 25 was NOT enough space for this room. We were cramped, couldn't hear eachother and many of my guests had to separate into the main bar area which was not the point of booking the room. Oh THEN the staff threw my birthday cake in the trash 15 min before my event was over to clean for the next party. Overall horrible experience. It's a cheap option because there's no minimum but you really pay for that with being absolutely fucked by the staff during a special event. Would leave 0 stars if I could. read more

Hidden gem that I'm sure to be frequenting in the future - My party and I stopped by at ~3am after going out in East Village. It's located down a flight of stairs at the garden level. The staff were really kind, and let us in even with our recently purchased cookies just around the block. The interior decor was aesthetically grungy, nicely decorated, with a bar area at the front and a seating area at the back. Met all the bartenders and they are all so friendly, welcoming and provide the best service. Even the bouncer on the weekends is super cool and chill. Weekends are a lot of fun its an amazing place to go and dance with awesome music. They have DJs on the weekends and the mixes are awesome. They book a lot of parties on the weekends from what it seems and with good reason, its such a fun vibe and ambiance. The happy hours drinks are all like 3-ingredient drink, the type that you can just mix the base liquor with a pre-mixed concoction. Which is smart and sufficient. No food other than some bar snacks. This is such a great bar for a few reasons. Not only do they have awesome live music but they also have decent drinks and their bar food isn't bad either! (I've had their pretzel sticks as well as the pigs in a blanket.) I've been here a few times, once on a casual date, once alone and few times with friends. Honestly, every time I've come here I've had a lovely time. I normally get a beer but I have had one of their cocktails and also really enjoyed it. A great bar in a good area! Juke Bar is a nice place located on 2nd Avenue just off of 12th street. It's a little hard to find because you need to walk down outside stairs to enter it. When you do you'll find a cozy space, somewhat rustic. The bar top itself is made from reclaimed wood. A nice choice of specialty drinks on the menu & the bartenders know how to prepare them. A good selection of draft beer also, around 6 taps. We always seem to miss the crowd when we go there, which is usually early in the evening before we head to one of our favorite Italian restaurants around the corner. If you're in the area you'll have plenty of bars to choose from within a stones throw of the Juke Bar. We haven't eaten there or been around for any live music but we will keep coming back. read more

Wanted to write another review of my favorite bar in the city. Very popular place. Make sure to go to their instagram account and book a table as these things tend to go super fast and space is limited. I tried to do that but they were all booked up for the night. I decided to show up and see if something opened up, but these guys found us a table anyway. That's world class service! They always remember me and I love chatting with these guys. My friend I brought also loved the place, she'll be back as well. It has a really cool vibe. Best way to describe it would be a friendly neighborhood bar meets intimate friday night date spot. Specialty cocktails are $9 ($13 at non HH) and well drinks are $6 etc. I had the Spicy Little Rita and the Chatty Kathy, both good if you like gin or tequila, which I do! Drinks are served in Mason jars. My first drink had way too much ice, but the second seemed to have more drink than ice which was good. Can't wait to come back and try more drinks! This place does not serve food really, just a couple of snacks so you can bring food in here which was awesome. My friends and I each brought in something different for din, tacos, dumplings, polish food. For dessert we had cupcakes. Was nice to bring in outside food from inexpensive places in the hood. My girlfriend and I stopped by here to celebrate her friend's birthday. Parking was great. There was plenty of street parking and we didn't have to walk far. The entrance is down a flight of steps which is pretty cool but I could definitely see some tipsy folks stumbling down know a good night. We entered and it was dark with a large bar area. To the right of the entrance is a seating area that good for a large group. We could never find her friends anywhere. One of them had to come and get us to bring us to a private area in the opposite side of the main bar. It's pretty cool, giving a private room for a small event but direct access to the bar without having to bump elbows with pushy guests. We ordered our drinks through a decent sized cutout in the wall and had a spot for seating and a place for ice drinks. Her friend even went out and brought back a pizza so I'm guessing you can bring in outside food with no problem. I would definitely want to come back here. It's a casual, chill place with good music and decent drinks. From what I understand, it was free to reserve the area for his birthday. I ma unsure how many people the private area can accommodate but I know it's not many, maybe around twenty but it may be a little snug. Juke Bar is still a sweet spot with eclectic, vintage decor and worth a visit. read more
