    Roast duck with rice
    Tiffany T.

I ordered the roast duck with rice and it's a pretty decent portion for the price. The skin was crispy, the meat was fresh, and they gave some pretty good cuts!

This spot is located in College Mall, in the food court. The staff is very friendly. You do gets tons of food, but it just did not have the flavor I was looking for or that I have had at other similar restaurants. I ordered the spicy duck and could not even finish my meal. The rice was bland and the spring rolls were not much better. The food is edible and not unbearable. Many people seem to like this place though, this is just my honest take on it.

Top: beef noodle soup, a Taiwanese food staple and bottom: hot pepper chicken. Despite the chiles, not as hot as you might think!

This is one of my favorite places to eat in Bloomington and even better, has the seal of approval from my Chinese mom! Judy's Kitchen is a Taiwanese style kitchen meaning they serve roasted meats like pork (Char Siu) and duck. They also have some Taiwanese staples like their popcorn chicken and beef noodle soup. They also have bubble tea made from real ingredients like taro or red bean as often times, boba places use powder to make the tea base. Before we moved from Bloomington entirely, my fiancé and I wanted to eat here one last time. He got his favorite, the hot pepper chicken, and I got the beer noodle soup for the first time. Both dishes didn't fail us. The hot pepper chicken is stir fried in a lot of chiles but actually isn't as hot as you think. It has a slow build and is tolerable for something with an average spice tolerance like me! The beef noodle soup was heavenly. It's similar to pho but is sweeter and more gingery. You need to try it to understand! I'll miss Judy's so much and hope it's still around when I visit Bloomington.

You guys... This is the best Pork Hock in Indy... And it's found at Judy's Kitchen in Bloomington. It is for sure onolicious.

The secret to my youthful appearance is the braised pork Hock at Judy's Kitchen. The sticky collagen and we'll seasoned pork hocks are served with baby bok over rice or noodles. Today I opted for the rice, soaks up all the deliciousness that is a treat in itself. For the Hawaii people visiting it's shoyu pork. For the Filipinos, it's braised pata. My aunt makes a version of this there's similar in flavor but she uses pineapple juice as the braising liquid. So it's sweet and salty. They make excellent chicken wings. their char siu and roost duck are delicious as well. It's nice to see a restaurant like this at a mall with more ethnic flavors as well as the standard fare. After a night of drinking, this is the food I want to eat, but they're closed at that time. So I guess I will drink during the day. Come here with an open mind and try something your haven't had before. It's a good place to broaden your gustatory horizons.

Finally checked out Judy's Kitchen in Bloomington. The food was amazing!!!! The prices are great. Authentic Taiwanese food.

This is real, authentic home-cooked Taiwanese food. It is my go-to comfort food place whenever I want something that tastes like home. They have the best bubble tea in town in my opinion. It's made from real tea, real taro and real red beans, no flavored powders anywhere, and it's not cloyingly sweet. I like how their food tastes "lighter" (i.e. not overly flavored with MSG) than most other Chinese food places in town. The roast duck is incredible, and so are the beef rice/noodle soup, minced pork rice/noodles, the spicy chicken, and the "three cups" chicken. And if you're a fan of Asian "tea leaf" eggs, you can add one of those to your meal too. I also love their blanched vegetables - truly homestyle and reminds me of what my grandmother would cook at home. My usual order here is the minced pork rice with an added tea egg. Keeps me full for hours, y I don't feel stuffed!

There's always a good amount of people at Judy's Kitchen and it's a quick bite to grab if you're visiting the mall or just want face Chinese food. There's a good amount of choices on the menu for a reasonable price ($5-$15) and the portions are fair. One of the critiques I have is that the food is a little bit bland. It's nice for a quick pick up but if you want more flavorful food, I would suggest going to other Chinese restaurants. However, I do see a lot of Chinese people eating here so it is a popular place.

    Marcia N.

Needed to grab a quick lunch today while I was at the mall, but I'm currently on a no-beef diet (and rather tired of chicken) so it's not always easy for me to find something to eat. Luckily, Judy's Kitchen had a Korean Jjamppong Seafood Noodle Soup on their menu, so I ordered it. The soup was served in a huge bowl; full of meaty shrimp, clams, crab, squid, and cabbage which were all piled on top of a generous serving of noodles. The seafood and noodles were swimming in a deep red broth that had a wonderful kick of spice to it. Absolutely delicious. I'll attach my photo, but the one someone already posted is probably a better view.

    Minced pork over rice

Judy's is an interesting little establishment. You know how Tyler Florence had that TV show about non-chain, family-owned, home-cooking food court restaurants and you thought "wow, that's a good idea" but you've never actually seen one in real life? Well that's Judy's. I would say the menu is mostly Taiwanese with some other authentic Chinese dishes, and also a few random things like some Korean stuff. This is in no way, shape, or form your typical mall food court Asian food. This stuff is authentic. I had the minced pork over rice, a dish I have seen on menus a few places before but never tried. It has a very interesting flavor. It almost reminded me of like...Salisbury steak. It tastes a little funny at first but you get used to it as you go. The dish grew on me...I might order it again. My mom had the minced curry chicken over rice. It was SO GOOD! Oh my goshhhhh. The chicken and the potatoes with the white rice and that yellow curry sauce..delicious. Not overly spicy, more of a gentle warmness. Definitely would order again. My dad had the roast duck noodle soup. Also a good choice! The broth, noodles, and duck itself were all good. I might not order this personally but it was still a tasty dish. I will totally come back here. I'm sure that this blows away all of the other food court options here. I want to try the fried chicken and rice! --------UPDATE!--------- Came back to Judy's! I had the roast duck with rice. Very good flavor, the duck was rubbed with a tasty blend of herbs. However I would not recommend eating the entire thing in one sitting like I did. It was legit a HUGE portion size, like 1/4 of an entire duck. Also their little plastic silverware isn't even close to enough to eat this properly...we just dug in with our hands even though we probably looked like Vikings gnawing on mutton. My dad liked his spicy duck as well.

    Beef Noodle Soup
    Clare T.

My boyfriend and I come here when we don't feel like cooking and want food that we could have for two meals. The portions are large for the price. Which, for two college students, is a good thing. We normally don't go to College Mall to shop. Usually if we have to run to Target, we'll go to Judy's Kitchen. Or on occasion we've gone there just for Judy's Kitchen. Honestly, you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. However, love beef noodle soup, and I feel like theirs is lacking in a little flavor of the broth, but the meat is as tender as it should. I'm just amazed how authentic it is for a stop in a mall foodcourt. It's honestly one of a kind.

Maybe a bit of a language barrier with the staff. I asked for jelly in my drink and got tapioca boba instead and generally felt like they didn't really understand what I was saying. I got a tofu rice bowl with miso sauce and a green milk tea with boba. The rice bowl was the perfect size for one meal, and there was a lot of tofu which made it filling. It was simple, with just the protein and sauce over steamed greens and rice, and I felt like it was pretty healthy. It didn't blow me away but it was good! The green milk tea was also good, strong but not too sweet. Some versions of the menu call it matcha but it very much tasted like green tea, not matcha. I think it was from a powder mix but that's fine. Reasonable prices. If I remember correctly, the rice bowl was about $13 and the boba was about $6 including the topping. I liked the food and would definitely eat here again.

I haven't had an egg waffle in a while since I don't know of any other place in Bloomington that makes them and I love pumpkin spice, so I was very excited about this waffle, and it did not let me down. The pumpkin spice flavour was nice, the waffle was fluffy and cooked right. They lightly drizzled it with a caramel sauce but the waffle itself wasn't too sweet so it balanced out. I liked the taro meets ube, which was taro milk tea with ube paste. The taro and ube flavours were similar but enhanced each other. I didn't see if I could adjust the sweetness level, but the default wasn't overly sweet. I was able to get this drink with soy milk instead of regular milk, although the barista let me know that the ube paste contains milk that can't be removed. 5 Stars - Korean Fried Chicken, Boba, and a Surprise Lesson About Crystal Pearls…read more This was my second visit, and I was so excited to dig in that I completely forgot to take photos before eating. By the time I remembered, I had already finished most of the chicken and drank over half of my matcha milk tea! On my first visit, I tried the taro milk tea and loved it. This time, I ordered a matcha milk tea with bubbles at 30% sugar, along with a pineapple mojito (non-alcoholic) with crystal pearls. The matcha was smooth, creamy, and not overly sweet. The 30% sugar level was perfect for letting the matcha flavor shine. The pineapple mojito was refreshing, light, and sparkling. It was also my first experience trying crystal pearls. My initial reaction was that I didn't like them because they're smaller and firmer than traditional boba pearls. They almost reminded me of boba that wasn't cooked quite long enough. But the more I drank, the more I appreciated them. In a cold, sparkling drink, they actually work really well. The pearls add a little surprise after each sip and give you something to chew, making the drink last longer and feel more interactive. Now for the star of the show: the Korean fried chicken. As someone who is mostly pescatarian, I've been wanting to try Korean fried chicken for a while, and this was a great introduction. I ordered the 10-piece wings with sauces on the side, choosing Soy Garlic and Secret Spicy. The wings were huge, meaty, and incredibly crispy. The Soy Garlic had that perfect balance of savory and slightly sweet flavors. The Secret Spicy wasn't particularly spicy to me. I'd probably rename it Secret Sweet because that's the flavor profile that stood out most. What really impressed me was how well the chicken reheated. A quick trip through the air fryer made it even crispier than when I first brought it home. That's a rare quality in takeout fried chicken. If you're looking for a place that offers both excellent drinks and seriously satisfying Korean fried chicken, this spot is worth a visit. Whether you're a boba enthusiast, a fried chicken lover, or someone like me who enjoys trying new flavors and textures, you'll likely find something that keeps you coming back. I know I'll be back to work my way through more of the menu.
