Siam House is easily one of my favorite restaurants in Bloomington. Every dish I've ever had is flavorful and made just right every time, and the staff that work there are impeccable. They quickly get you seated, take your order, and get your food. The building/house they are in works great for smaller or larger parties, and their selection of food is perfect. It's both a large menu and not so large that it seems too big. I highly recommend trying out Siam House if you haven't already.

Siam House is a Bloomington staple that I have been to several times. I generally get the basil fried rice, but decided to switch it up and get the volcano chicken this time around. The chicken was juicy, spicy, and paired perfectly with the rice. Siam House is arguably the best Thai spot in Bloomington and I would definitely recommend it to anyone in town. Service is relatively quick, with food coming out in about 15 minutes. Environment is great for a casual or slightly fancy outing.

Food: solid Thai food, wish their dishes were spicier but the flavor is always pretty good. Have a large menu so haven't tried a majority of the items Service: nice staff, can get pretty busy as it's a popular restaurant on campus, I would say service can vary ambiance: great place for a meal with others

Food: Amazing! So flavorful and great portions. I haven't tried anything I don't like. Service: Really great! The restaurant can get really busy but they work so hard to be timely and attentive. Ambiance: You must try sitting in the sunroom or the patio when you're there.

I'm normally in and out of Bloomington for work, and on one particular trip, I decided to try something a little different. I had done some Yelp searching for must-try food spots and saw this location pop up. While on campus at IU, a student also recommended this eatery. Students are usually pretty dependable when it comes to the best food places, so I decided to give it a try. I was on IU's campus, and it was roughly a 12-minute walk to get there. There's so much to see in this college town, which made the walk enjoyable. The weather was perfect, so I really enjoyed the stroll. I arrived at the location on a Wednesday evening around 6 p.m., and it was packed! After tasting my food, I understood why. I couldn't quite decide what I wanted to eat, but I ended up choosing spring rolls and fried rice. The amount of food that came with this simple order was massive. I was literally full for the next 24 hours! If I had known how large the portions were, I definitely would have shared it with someone, but I enjoyed every bit of the meal. The server who took my order was very patient and even recommended what was good on the menu despite how busy it was. I visited during the summer, and both the inside and patio were filled with guests. If I ever return to Bloomington, I definitely plan to come here again--next time, I'll bring some guests!

Absolutely amazing Thai food -- easily one of the best restaurants in Bloomington. The dishes are fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented, and the service is excellent every time I've visited. The interior is beautiful and creates a warm, inviting atmosphere -- perfect for a date night or just a nice dinner out. Food comes out quickly and piping hot, and everything tastes freshly made. If you love Thai cuisine, Siam House is a must-visit.

I haven't had really good Thai food in a long time. I went in on a cold and rainy Thursday. They seated me immediately, and the staff was super friendly! I ordered the Pad Thai with chicken at a level 3/5. It came out fairly quickly, was piping hot, and the perfect level of spice. It was absolutely delicious and hit the spot perfectly. I'll definitely be back!

The food was fantastic. I never know whether to order "hot" or "medium" when I try a new place. If you like things a bit spicy, don't be afraid to go with hot. I ordered my soup hot and my main dish (green curry) medium. The soup was perfect, and the curry was definitely lacking heat. The steamed dumplings were amazing! They lose a star on service. My husband arrived before I did. The server asked what he wanted to drink, and he said he wanted to wait for me (because I always choose the wine), but that we'd like to start with an order of dumplings. According to my husband, the server snapped back, "I only asked you about drinks!" Seems a bit rude. Service while I was there was fine, though there was a bit of a wait to get the check.

My favorite restaurant in Bloomington by far. We are always seated quickly, food comes out fast, and it's always delicious. Located in an old house on 4th street, tables are close together and it does get loud on busy nights. With this being said, that does not impact the service here, as it is always great! Tonight I got the chicken pad Thai (I know.. not too adventurous, but it's what sounded good!) I always get a level 1 spice, which is basically sweet. Portions are large for the price. I can always get several meals out of one order. The dish is packed with chicken and seasoned well. Looking forward to the next time I'm in Bloomington to come back!

Don't walk, run to Siam House the next time you are in the area and want a GASSSS meal. This has been my favorite restaurant in Bloomington since trying it. Nothing beats it by any means. Always say quickly. Always served promptly. Always feels clean. On our most recent trip, I had the pork yellow curry with fried rice (and white rice). The curry is packed full of flavor. If you want it spicy, I recommend adding a spice level to what you want (I ordered medium and should have gotten spicy)- was lacking much spice this visit. My brother in law who ate with us said the same. The fried rice tasted fresh, and packed full of veggies. If you haven't tried Siam House, you have got to go.

I was in Bloomington to see a jazz concert and needed to grab a quick bite to eat. We had a party of four and the hostess was able to accommodate our time restraint. The service was quick and the food was amazing! I am always on the lookout for Chicken Satay and Siam House nailed it. The chicken was perfectly grilled and the peanut butter sauce was delicious. The cucumber relish was sweet and tasty but it lacked cucumbers! It barely had crumbs of carrot. The restaurant offered relaxed outside seating but we sat inside to get quicker service. And, we made it to our show on time. I will most definitely be back when I am in the area.

The menu is very vegetarian-friendly since you can choose tofu as a protein for most entrees, and even vegan-friendly since they have nondairy milk options for drinks and some entrees can be easily customized to be vegan (order with tofu/no meat and remove egg). I got a matcha latte with brown sugar crystal boba and the Pattaya pineapple rice. Matcha latte: The matcha was decent - it had the flavour of matcha latte mix rather than pure matcha, but it wasn't unpleasant, and it was strong. I like the brown sugar crystal boba as a topping - the flavour is very similar to brown sugar tapioca boba, but it doesn't sit as heavy. It's a different kind of chewy than tapioca, but it's close enough that it basically gives the same kind of experience as regular tapioca boba in a drink. Pattaya pineapple rice: Really good! The rice was well-seasoned and the pieces of juicy pineapple and raisins added some sweetness that contrasted very nicely with the curry-spiced rice. They have 5 spice levels (mild, medium, hot, extra hot, Thai hot). I usually went for medium heat when I lived on the west coast, but since this is the Midwest, I tried "hot" and found it had a bit of a kick, but the heat was still secondary to the other flavours, so it was the right choice for me. Very good service. The waiter was very friendly and attentive without hovering - he came by at just the right times. My drink and food came out not too long after I ordered. The place is nice. Like the other restaurants in this area, it's situated in a small house-like building. The atmosphere feels down-to-earth. There were lots of things on the menu that caught my interest, so I'll definitely be back!

They are of course famous for the dumplings, and everything on the dumpling sampler was excellent. The momos were every bit as good as I've had in Toronto's Little Tibet, with a tender skin and a lot of flavor. They also had some more plump dumplings with cabbage and potato, which are a lot like pierogi! All very satisfying. The fried rice was well-made and appropriately spiced for a 2/5. You could taste the oil in each grain, and the beef was cooked nicely. My only complaint would be that I think they used frozen green beans.

Their vegetarian dumplings are all tasty but each is a little different. I've only tried the steamed so far because I really like the tenderness of the steamed version. The dumplings come with soy sauce and chili sauce for dipping, which are not optional - you need to dip them for the best experience. The chili sauce isn't too hot, so you can and should be generous with it. The Tibetan tea is interesting - it's a smooth milk tea, kind of like a milder version of Indian chai, but it does have its own unique taste that I can't totally put my finger. Other drinks are all good too, thought some aren't exactly as you might expect. The iced Indian tea is a little milky for my taste but the hot version is stronger. The Thai iced coffee is great but it's less sweet than the usual ones (not inherently good or bad, just depends on your preference). The mango lassi tasted closer to mango juice, but it was really refreshing. All of the food is kind of different from the usual restaurant style food from the various cuisines represented on the menu; it feels more like home cooking, so more subtle flavours, less salty and a little lighter, but very wholesome and hearty. The hotter spice level comes from a chili paste they add, and I recommend getting at least a level 2 (level 1 is no spice), because the chili paste also flavours the dish and level 2 is still pretty mild. The people are very kind and I love the calming atmosphere. I have seen them get busy in the evening on weekends, but usually you can count on being able to get a table.

I showed up about 50 minutes after ordering and my food was hot and ready on arrival. The host who greeted me and brought out my order was very friendly. While I was waiting for him to get my food from the back, another staff member also came by to check that I was being helped. I ordered the fried eggplant stir-fry with tofu and the coconut ice cream. The stir-fry tasted good, but I selected spice level 3 "hot" (and the takeout container had a "3" written on it so I know they got it), yet there was not a hint of spice in the dish, not even a single chili flake. I don't know if they messed up and forgot to add the spice or what, but I was kind of let down. Taking the heat level out of the equation, it would rate it about average for American Thai food. I wasn't really impressed by the dish, but I enjoyed it (spicy is nice but not a must-have for me if there are other flavours). I liked the coconut ice cream dessert. The included banana spring rolls were helpfully packaged in foil separate from the ice cream, so I warmed them up in my oven a little, and they were very good warm. I'm pretty sure that what the menu calls "homemade coconut ice cream" was actually vanilla bean ice cream with shredded coconut on top. Which is still delicious but not what is written on the menu. Based on my single visit, I don't think this is close to the best Thai in Bloomington, but it's alright, and I might come here again because it's closer to home than the other places I like. I might have even given the food 4 stars if it had just been described differently on the menu, but the lack of spice in a dish that was supposed to be made hot plus the "homemade coconut ice cream" not being that left a little bit of a bad impression.

There are two dining rooms, and I think one is meant to be in a more Thai style while the other one houses the sushi bar, but both the Thai and sushi menus can be ordered in either room. I got a spider supreme roll, a Thai iced tea, and green tea mochi ice cream. The entree order included a complimentary soup. The soup was kind of odd but good. It had the broth for Japanese clear soup but contained diced carrots, peas, and corn (like the mixed vegetables you can get in the freezer at the store) plus the usual green onion. Again, it tasted fine but not like anything I've seen passed off as Japanese or Thai before. Spider supreme roll was pretty good. Maybe a little too saucy. The wasabi had kind of an odd blue tint but tasted alright (not great quality but not like the super cheap stuff), but that's minor. Decent Thai tea. The mochi ice cream itself was good, but I thought it was overdressed. I was skeptical of both chocolate and strawberry sauce with green tea, but it was actually a pretty good combination. However, the two sauces plus the whipped cream plus the sprinkles was just too many different flavours and textures, which took away from the simple mochi ice cream. It might've worked better with the strawberry or vanilla flavours to keep things simpler. The service was okay. The waiters were polite but a little inattentive. They seemed busy though. It wasn't bad food, but my impression is that this is not very authentic execution of sushi. I haven't had much sushi in Bloomington yet so I'm not sure how it compares to other sushi spots.
