For me buffets are places you go when you don't know what you want. I had a craving for some veggies and flavor. The broccoli is cooked perfectly with a little crunch still there and the other vegetables are very good texture (not mush) and the gravy/sauce. Nice selection of chicken dishes with my favorite being the fried chicken wings that have a very nice crunch. The fried rice is tasty and the eggrolls are crunchy, The surprise was that the drink is included with the buffet price. Service cleared my table quickly and the price for the lunch buffet is very reasonable for the variety of foods available to you. They have four(4) soups that are very flavorful without being too salty that I find unappealing at other buffets. I just left this place. Checked it out. The food was cold and did not have a good taste to it. The fried rice was like it came out of a box. The service was rude and the lady kept touching folks glasses with the gloved hand that she used to clean and soap down the tables. Not smart for this. Never touch food items with dirty or soapy gloves. Atmosphere was ugly. Old crap tables and chairs. Not even holiday music playing in the background. Floors were dirty around food Buffett and found two plates that were dirty and not cleaned in the stack. I suggest that you come to this place at your own risk. Will not come back. This was the first chinese buffet I was ever exposed to. I'm kind of a picky eater, and I tend to shy away from chinese food. Fortunately, I've found pretty simple items at the buffets that appeal to me. With China House closed, this is the only buffet on the west side. My past experiences weren't bad, but after my last visit, I'll go to one of the buffets on the east side. In the past I was OK with the food but put off by the scary bathrooms. This time even the food was a bit off. I had my usual chicken dishes that included peppered chicken, sweet and sour chicken, and the chicken on a stick. The peppered chicken wasn't bad. The chicken bits for the sweet and sour chicken felt and tasted overcooked, and the chicken on the stick was pretty cold. That's about as much description as the food deserves. The staff was a bit nicer than they used to be, but that didn't make up for the food. Pretty forgettable. read more

Not only is their selection of food quite limited, they have a sign posted above the buffet stating, that any excessive food waste might result in additional charges. My husband and I stopped in during our last Christmas shopping trip because we were craving Asian food and it was in the area we were shopping in. The buffet price for lunch was good. You pay as you enter the restaurant. It was $14.96 for two of us. Between the two of us, we got a little bit of almost everything they offered. We did skip the few dishes that were seriously overcooked (some were severely dried out and another was supposed to be green beans, but looked like shriveled green sticks with brown sauce on them). There were a few dishes that came out while we were eating our first plates that seemed more appealing than when we arrived. I didn't notice the attempt of a salad bar they had available until I started to examine my options for dessert. There was iceberg lettuce, shredded cheese and ranch dressing. The options for dessert were slightly better. There were several fresh fruits, three flavors of pudding, cakes and soft serve ice cream. It seems they are keeping the menu small in order to do each dish well, but they are falling short. I applaud their effort, but the table service is practically nonexistent. Since it is the holidays, they are giving away free calendars, which may be the best part of our experience. I doubt we will be returning. read more

Only Chinese Buffet in town! If you like buffets then this one is smaller than your average large city buffets. But for a town this size it is a smaller place but with a large selection for the space they have. Food comes out very hot. Sometimes too hot. This is the best Chinese food I've had hands down. The owners are very nice they treat my family like we are their family. They sat my 13 yr old son down and taught him how to make the crab Rangoons . We call Ms. Linda, mom and her kids brother and sister and her husband, dad. Never has a business name lied so blatantly. But I suppose "Disgusting Taste Buffet" wouldn't market well. I went in for lunch today after years away, hoping they'd gotten their act together. No such luck. The food was overcooked or cold or both. Nothing had any flavor, and the place has all the ambiance of a soup kitchen in Moscow circa 1972. I actually got a refund on my food, which I think is the best thing you can do after paying for it. I went into Great Taste for a quick lunch today. I was a regular many years ago and was quickly reminded why I am not now. Some effort has been made to spruce up this tired old buffet since I was last here. I believe the tables and chairs and carpet are new but the walls still need attention and so does the serving table which had areas of either scorch or encrusted food. I could not bring myself to examine the edges closely. I really wanted to try everything, at least a taste but it was largely so unappetizing that I just could not do it. I have an iron stomach and can manage almost anything but I do want some modicum of aesthetic pleasure in my eating. I also prefer my food hot rather than reluctantly warm. I can list things, like the salmon swimming in something which was dry and overcooked, the egg drop soup which was fairly flavorless, the green beans which looked like before cooking I would not have bought them in a supermarket. That is enough. I believe most Chinese buffets are pretty similar in American-Chinese-Take-Away style food. Some are better than others. What helps is if they have at least one dish which stands out, like spicy green beans at one place I know. Soup at another. Great Taste used to have the hands down best sesame balls and I was hoping for some of those today. The ones I had were soft and mushy and cold and I was disappointed. On my second trip to the steam table there were no clean forks available. Really!?? I remember why I used to go, I remember why I do not now. What I do not really understand is why or how they are still there! The price is right and you do not have to cook it. I would rate it just above drive through fast burger food as edible but most Americans would probably take the drive through. I hate writing negative reviews but sometimes you have to be honest when it hurts. If you are reading reviews you want something better. Keep driving. There is good food nearby. read more

If you enjoy the stereotypical American Chinese Buffet, you'll love this place. The food is yummy and the atmosphere is homey. It might be considered sketchy by young adults, but after all it is an American Chinese Buffett. The owners and workers are extremely kind and happy, they are the type of people I love to support. If you look past worldly expectations, you'll appreciate this restaurant. I eat here all the time and I find it to be extremely nice. It's a very loving atmosphere. never post reviews but I feel I need to in this case. I've ate at this restuarant with my family for years (prefered the previous management, especially after tonight). We had never really had much of a problem before. I went in there at about 7:30 this evening to enjoy a nice dinner with my family. After paying and walking up to the buffet I immediately realize that the food that was available had been setting there for awhile. Half the buffet didn't even have food on it. After saying, "I'm not paying for this" they decided to start restocking the buffet. I sat down to give them time to restock. They started bringing out luke warm food, very slowly. As I proceeded to eat, the owner decided to stand at the service door and stare at me as you could tell I was unhappy. When I got up to leave the owner than had his kitchen staff watch me walk out while they were all back there laughing at me. They are all rude and the food was all old or cold. Definitely save your money and don't go to this place. There are plenty of other Chinese restuarants available in this town that will treat their costumers better than this place. I honestly have no idea how they are still open with food (including seafood) being served under the required temperature. read more
