A little after two years, my rebuilt transmission had an issue with the solenoids that resulted in a complete breakdown. I knew that the warranty from JR was good for 24 months or 24,000 miles, so legally they did not have to take care of me. As a superb firm, they went above and beyond and I am very grateful. Hayden told me that given my low mileage, this failure should not have happened. As a result, they completely rebuilt it for me at no charge! They also identified a worn CV axle.. which they replaced for just the cost of the part. 2005 Ford F150. The transmission neutraled out in third gear. I went to this place on a friend's recommendation and also because of their reviews so I figured I'd leave mine. Customer service was friendly and professional at all points of contact. I was given a week and a half ETA for the transmission to be rebuilt. They were right on target. They went over what they found wrong and the receipt includes entire details of what was replaced. The rebuild included not just the worn parts but also internals that should be replaced while in there. They replaced all of the important things. Two year 24,000 mile warranty. Pretty darned good! 4K out the door. Ford wanted just about the same just for the remanufactured transmission. Not including install. Truck is driving well. I'm expecting another 180,000 mi out of this thing. I'm a happy camper. read more

These guys know what they are talking about. Brought my Truck in for a inspection because it was giving weird shakes and rpms in higher gears. They diagnosed the problem that day as a blown torque converter and needed a new transmission. After then calling car company truck was bought from (fairly new truck) and finding warranty the car lot tried telling me that's just how our Chevy drove. Well, two months later sure enough our transmission had gone all the way out and I was stuck on the freeway. I towed the truck back to JRs, seeing they actually knew what they were doing, and they replaced transmission in a weeks time. Originally, a few years ago when I had a complete standard transmission put in a mid to late 80's model Toyota Hilux (pickup) for a total of $2700...by these guys, I would've given them a good review and rating since it ran well for awhile. When I had some issues with it shifting out of 1st after 6 months I went back to them and they gave me shit with the warranty coverage charging me at least $100 for inspection PLUS additional for repairs. Tried to reasonably, rationally resolve the billing issue with them. They wouldn't budge. Sorry I went to them in the first place for the job. NOT worth the trouble. Honesty gained a customer for life. My diesel truck with a 6 speed started howling at around 40mph. Sounded like it was coming from the transmission. I received a fair quote to R&R and rebuild the ZF6 in my truck. The 7.3 is so loud they had to test drive it three times before being able to diagnose the problem. I received a call and they told me it was the rear diff howling. On top of their honesty they didn't charge for the diagnosis. December, 2018, our transmission in a 2006 Dodge Ram 2500 failed. We took it to a shop in Roseville for a new transmission. After picking it up, the transmission body was rubbing against a frame member, making a loud noise. The Roseville shop sent us directly to JR's Transmission in Auburn, CA. (We were told the all rebuild , except the install, had been "subbed out" to JR's Transmission). We've had two transmissions rebuilt here and have brought all our vehicles in for maintenance (change fluid/filters). Our experience has been 100% positive. But this last trans rebuild is the one that really stands out. About 2 1/2 years ago my Ford Escape transmission went out at 178,000 miles. I couldn't complain because I had been offroad with it a lot, and didn't baby it. That's a lot of miles. Took it in to JR for a rebuild. It worked as new for the next 45,000 miles, then a problem started. I took it back to JR. It was well beyond the rebuild warranty but I told them I hoped we could work something out because it really should have lasted for more than 45k miles warranty or not. They had to take out the trans, open it, and when they did, found that a major part that had been replaced during the rebuild had failed (a weld had cracked). They replaced it, all the other parts, installed a new torque converter, and it now runs like new again. And they didn't charge me a cent. How can you beat that? So I know they are honest, even going above and beyond to maintain their reputation. In the foothills it is a small world and everybody knows everybody else. JRs has a great reputation, they have worked hard to earn it, and they clearly want to keep it. It's businesses like that you can count on. read more

2 weeks ago Took my car around a month and a half ago. To start with Jimmy the so called mechanic told me it was going to have it ready for the next day and never did. 2 days passed by finally get the car he first told me it was going to be one amount when I went to pick up the car he came up that it was going to be $400 . Take the car home next day same leak problem. Take the car back after weekend on a Tuesday drop it off again and I he tells me same thing once again ,that'll hell have an answer in a few hours . At this point it's been week and half and still don't know anything. Every time I got a hold of him (Jimmy) olways got the same respond that I'll have my car by the end of the day. One more week pass by and at this point in done waiting so I called and I called untill he finally responded. Finally get the car back. Month and 2 weeks had passed by and guess what the problem still continues. I take the car back this pass Wednesday drop it off again and he tells me it's going to be a few hours cause he doesn't have a lift open which was a tremendous lie cause I went on the back and he had a lift empty. Once again he tells me I'll have an answer in a few hours and nothing , do ended up calling and like always no response from this guy. Finally he calls me back saying hell have the car check the next day once again this dude don't commit to his word . Next day comes and he calls and start explaining what I already know but he told me he was getting everything fixed once again. By 10:20 I went to go pick my car up after work he sees me arrive and with this attitude and very unprofessional tell me the keys were in the mailbox. Previous to that I messaged him multiple times to tell me where he was going to leave the keys and he never responded. I get home after picking the car up and I notice my rear seat it's been chewed by something I take a picture send it to him asking what's happened to my rear seats and like always no response. I honestly don't recommend this place at all .... horrible horrible experience. Please stay away . I still don't know how this guy own a business. read more

These folks are amazing. I wish I had found them first. After three attempts, four days of time, one dent and two different shops that tried to fix an axle seal leak from an automatic transmission, I was told that the transmission had to be replaced to the tune of 2500$. In a last desperate act of seeking a fourth opinion, I contacted JR's late in the afternoon. They took it in right away. They looked at it and quickly found that the seals and bushing were improperly installed. The repair problem was done in an hour. They had the right experience, tools and parts. To top it off, the cost was more than fair.............. I wish I could have found them first. They have a customer for life. Do yourself a favor and seek these guys out for transmission work. Awesome customer service! My truck revved up to near the redline in rpms and would not shift during a recent drive. I brought it in to have it checked out. They dropped the pan, determined that it needed a couple of upgraded parts, and did the scheduled service. Now it is good to go for many more miles. I live in Paso Robles and was up in the Auburn area visiting family Thanksgiving week when my O/D (Overdrive) light started flashing on my '99 Mustang GT. This is something that you never want to see happen on your car. Even though it was blinking, it never went into limp mode...which was about the only positive knowing that i was 5 hours from home. I initially took it to Folsom Ford and they did nothing but top off the Transmission and tell me that everything was good. Not so fast my friend...as Lee Corso would say....Later that day it started flashing again. I looked around on the internet and found Jr's not to far away from where I was staying in Auburn. I got my car in their on the Monday morning before Jr's was officially open. Karen was very nice and took great care of me with getting all the admin stuff done right away. As soon as they were open Scott took my car, ran the codes and took it for a drive. The codes said there was a shift problem between 2 & 3. He suggested cleaning the speed sensor and I readily agreed. They cleaned the speed sensor and then asked to change the Transmission oil.....I gave permission and they did it. When they took the pan off they found that the filter seal had given out and the filter was laying in the pan. After the speed sensor was cleaned, a new filter and oil change I have had NO issues whatsoever with the O/D light coming on. Thank you so much Scott, Karen and your team! You helped me out more then you know and I greatly appreciate that you took such good care of me and got me out of there as fast as you could! I brought my vehicle in for servicing at Jr's Automatic Transmissions and on the face of it I thought they did a good job. It was after I drove my vehicle for a couple of weeks that I noticed a rattle coming from the transmission case. I had AAMCO check it out and they found the WRONG filter and retainer in the transmission. They told me that it hadn't caused any serious damage but could have destroyed my transmission. AAMCO fixed what Jr's should have done correctly in the first place and Jr's caused me to spend twice the money for a second servicing. I won't go back to them and since then I am an AAMCO customer for sure here in the Auburn area. Again, thanks AAMCO for saving my transmission. read more

Looking for an honest and dependable transmission shop is scarier than finding a good dentist. My 2005 Dodge Ram 2500 tranny was shot and needed a rebuild. I read the reviews, visited a few shops and, with fingers crossed, went to JR's. They rebuilt the tranny replacing plastic parts with metal and made it better than when new.
