Staff are unwelcoming and unfriendly, Stood at the bar and was ignored, then made to feel like I was inconveniencing them because they had to serve me. Meanwhile, the staff are drinking behind the bar completely oblivious that they had a customer waiting. We decided not to give them our business because they were so rude and made us feel uncomfortable. And particularly as a Black woman, it was made very clear to me that not everyone is welcome there. Hop on! That's the catch phrase at Joyride brewing. It's hard not to love a brewery with an elephant riding a bicycle as it's logo. But besides elephants, Joyride is open and inviting. There is a long bar that runs across the back of the central room and open high top tables that fill the rest. In the adjacent room, there are regular height tables. Around the bar you'll find TVs that are placed spaciously enough that fans from opposing teams can comfortably watch the game across the room from each other. They also have the NFL package, so you are certain to find your game here. Joyride also is a great community spot. You'll find beer and yoga classes, as well as beer and cheese tastings lined up. And Joyride sponsors many local league teams. But, let's talk about beer! They are a brewery after all. Joyride has a consistently rotating tap. Some of my recent favorites have been the pumpkin ale and the Touchdown Brown Ale. There is something for everyone - they have double IPAs, pale ales, and porters. Happening brewery with great beer! Came here on a Friday night with my boyfriend and we were surprised how many people were in. Figured that was a good sign. We lucked out, spying two seats at the bar and snatched them up. The bartenders were great at managing the bar despite the crowd! The beers were fantastic. When it was time for food, popped outside to the food truck and had some dinner. Since we're in the neighborhood, we'll be back for sure. read more

Great location and views of Sloans lake with ample food truck options daily and TVs aplenty....and here's the but...... The only downfall of this brewery is that they sometimes lean overly IPA heavy, like 6 of 8 beers will be IPAs, and I like them, also they can sometimes turn into a doggie daycare over the summer, this from a dog owner, not their problem but it sometimes verges on unmanageable If not for these two things it might be one of better spots on the west side. read more

Busy, busy, busy! This place is almost always packed when I show up, everyone fills in with their pups and it's very lively! I love that dogs are allowed inside but unfortunately not on the roof. I do understand their policy of no kids and no pets on the roof, it's a nice break for all of the adults that want to enjoy beverages without distractions. Cool spot if you are looking for a rooftop and some local beers to try! I lived in the Sloans Lake area for a couple years and this spot is definitely a staple in the area. We hang on the rooftop most of the time and enjoy the misters in the summer and heater in the cooler weather. Great service! Joyride's biggest asset to me is their location. I absolutely love having a brewery on this little strip. Their beers are pretty good - 4 stars. They're often inventive and fun, but not as complex as solid as other breweries in town. They are super dog friendly, which is another giant plus. However their staff can be a bit...less warm. Overall I like it. I doubt I'd go out of my way to come back, but when I am in the area it's a decent option. read more

Great location. Great service. This is a great spot to grab a beer with a friend. We dropped in after brunch to try the Pumpkin Ale. It was a nice, lighter pumpkin beer than I have had at other places. Not too heavy on the spice. Just an easy drinkin' brew. We enjoyed a couple while sitting at the open air bar facing 26th. It's a great spot for people watching! I love that there is free public parking in the lot across the street. Street parking was plentiful as well. And, they had a food truck with ribs on 26th. This brewery has been on my list for a while. I finally made it there- twice. It was a combination of coincidence and my positive impression of it. In the evening, it was slammed but in a good way. I asked the bartender to give me two of his best beers as tasters and later two more. Both bartenders were fantastic and friendly and attentive and knew their stuff. He told me the best beer was their double IPA. Who am I to argue? I really is the best beer they have and it was very good. I had several others but I would say the milk out meal stout was second on my list and a nice change of pace from the bitterness of the IPA. We were also here in the afternoon, which was a pleasant surprise because I didn't know it was all open air and since it faces south you get some great sunlight! They also have a good truck from noon if you need to eat something. It's good to know there is another good brewery in the area both in atmosphere and in beer. read more

Great little addition to the Edge of Edgewater. This corner brewpub has simple charm and a great relaxed feel thanks to the open design and friendly staff. The bicycle theme is also a very cool plus for me. No food service but they do have a great selection of food trucks -- similar to most other mirco-beer bars in the Denver Metro area. Dog friendly and great lake side views are all made possible because of the 6 garage doors- which are usually wide open. Alright then let's get down to the beers: I chose the German Style Lighter brew-" Ice Cutter Kölsch5.2% | 25 IBU | 3 SRM In the winter after Thomas Sloan flooded his farm, he would cut ice from the lake and sell it to local breweries. As most brewers in the day were of German descent, a Kölsch style beer could have been produced. Our Kölsch is a classic interpretation of the style. It's very smooth and drinkable like a lager, but has a light fruit flavor from ale fermentation. It has moderate levels of bitterness and noble hop flavor and a crisp, dry finish. I like lighter- crisp German Style brews. This one is a good one. On par with many local offerings. Next I had the Bringing It All Back Home Sour IPA. I am a big fan of anything sour or spicy in general. Here is Joyride's explanation of this very "unique" beer-- "To brew this beer, we kettle soured the mash for 24 hours, much like a berliner weisse, but then hopped it like an IPA with Amarillo and Citra. The malt bill is very simple, comprising of only pilsner, vienna and wheat. This was fermented with our house ale strain, known for being very clean and neutral, before dry hopping with another blend of Amarillo and Citra. I equated Dylan's falling out with the folk scene as the beer equivalent of violating the Reinheitsgebot, the German purity law of 1516, which states that beer can only be made with malt, water and hops (yeast was added later after it's discovery). So, we added pineapple juice in the mash to violate the Reinheitsgebot, as well as to add an extra dash of complexity to this already unique beer. In the aroma of this beer, I pick up pineapple, grapefruit and passion fruit, with a mild amount of funk from the lactic sourness. The flavor is is mostly void of that funkiness, focusing more on the tropical hop flavors, exerting melon, lime and grapefruit. The acidity from the souring accents these fruity hop flavors and lends depth. Bringing It All Back Home Sour IPA finishes dry, leaving you wanting another sip. I had been a regular before this event and enjoyed the space but after this experience I am both stunned and shocked that he would treat customers this way let alone anyone. I like bikes and I like beer, so obviously, I'm a fan. Joyride is a bike-themed brewery with lots of lovely beers to try, a sizeable location, and usually a great food truck out front. They rotate their taps pretty frequently, but I've always been able to find something tasty. I tried their Vitamin Sea gose last weekend. Beauty. Plenty of room to park your bike (obviously). Pretty big downstairs area that is well-behaved kid and dog friendly. Now they have a rooftop deck for adult humans only, which is going to be amazing when it warms up a bit. read more

Visiting here from San Diego, we yelped this place. The beer selection was only 7 types. Beer was okay if all you like is IPA's. Service could improve, didnt feel the welcoming or for that matter great service was not existent. Good thing they have tons of other places to go to. read more

Joyride is one of my new favorite breweries! I heard about it quite some time ago, and just hadn't been able to make it over to Edgewater, but I'm very happy that I finally did. My fiance and I met up with a couple of friends there during the dragon festival - or whatever that was - on Sloan's lake. The location is amazing, it looks out over Sloan's and they have a whole wall of about 6 garage doors, so your basically hanging out outside, but covered from the sun. They have a nice outdoor area in the back as well with some yard games, all covered in turf if you're in a sporting mood. It was pretty packed on this Sunday, as well other times I've driven by since - so as long as you're not scared off by other beer lover's, great beer, and a cool venue you should probably come try out Joyride. As for the beer, my two favorites are the Joyride Double IPA - which is absolutely incredible (if you can handle it, 9.0%ABV) - and then the Bear Paw Oatmeal Milk Stout, equally incredible in it's own respect. I will definitely be back to try more as they seem to have a ton of Seasonal Brews as well. Keep up the good work Joyride! read more

Recently checked this out with my significant other on Sunday after talking about going to check it out for weeks. After our first visit, we will definitely be back! This place is awesome on so many different levels. As we were walking over we were concerned we would not be able to sit down, place was pretty packed for a Sunday late afternoon. Got lucky, and found two spots at the bar. We ordered a flight because all the beer sounded good. Bartender was cool and took the time to tell us a little about all the beers included in our flight. Good music, great atmosphere, dog friendly. In addition to the outdoor patio, the brewery is open (large garage doors) to the sidewalk and sits across from Sloans lake. Weather was perfect when we were there, very enjoyable to sit on a couple of bar stools that face a view of the lake and the city of Denver. The beer was awesome, we ended up each getting another pint before heading out. Check out Black Razz Blonde - def my favorite of all the beers I tried..fantastic summer beer. They do not have food here, however there are plenty of places right down the street that do. There was also a food truck parked right outside of Joyride, a wing truck that had grilled wings! My favorite brewery in Denver. Staff is awesome. Beers are clean, flavorful and they do a good job of rotating seasonally. I like they way they do Tuesday Trivia by putting it up on the TVs instead of trying to scream over the crowd. I can't wait for their rooftop deck to open! It's my first time here and I'm really enjoying it. I'm on my second "boozewater", a beer seltzer I would recommend. It's gluten free, but I'm not allergic. There are dogs everywhere, which is very comforting. I haven't patted any of them yet, but maybe after this second drink I will. I smiled at a baby here and it smiled back. There are a lot of people here right now which assures me it's a hip happening place. I'm glad I couldn't find parking for the other places I tried to go before this one. Very nice atmosphere and I'm sure the other beers are as good as the one I'm drinking. I would note that there is one bathroom stall of 2 in the women's bathroom that must be made for very small people. I myself am a medium sized person and did not fit well in it. But I managed. I would recommended this place to beer snobs and newbies. read more

Great atmosphere ... the roll up garage doors and the high top & bench seating give the whole place a beach bar vibe and it certainly doesn't hurt that sloans lake is immediately visible across the street! They are in the process of applying for an expanded liquor licence which will really make this place hop. Currently, they have a brewery license, so they can only offer their beer and water, but they always have a food truck outside and it is a different one every day. Want to know what is there ... they have a calendar on their website with which trucks will be onsite on a given day ;) The staff is amazing! We felt immediately at home, they were helpful, courteous and always around when you needed them. I really appreciated the attention to service and not just great beer. The beer ... how do I say, really good stuff! They are really doing some special work with their beers here! Do you like IPAs ... their Edgewater IPA is one you need to try. Stouts? at 8% the Bear Paw Oatmeal Milk Stout is definitely a choice you wont regret! And something lighter, it's seasonal, but someone definitely needs to order the "Give Peach a Chance - Spring Berliner Weisse", it is very much worth it!! Hot damn, another brewery within walking distance! Simply being within a mile is only enough to get me there once though. If you want repeat customers, you're going to have to make good beer and not be a d-bag about it either. Check and Check! Every beer I had there was above average but the standout was their Fresh Nugz Wet Hop Pale Ale. It's only a seasonal so make sure you get it while you can. The milk stout and regular pale ale are pretty tasty as well. I'll definitely be adding the spot into my rotation. The space is cool, service doesn't suck and the beers are tasty. read more

I've now been to Joyride enough times that I can make an adequate assessment of this brewery... All signs are pointing to fantastic! Every time I've been here I had great service and delicious beers. They have everything from light to dark and low alcohol to knock your socks off and all have a great taste and feel very polished. The brewery itself is fairly expansive with large garage doors which offers great views of Sloan's Lake. Along with the vast amount of seating in the brewery, they also have a great little back patio with corn hole sets to be played. Overall I can't think of much that is bad about this place other than once and a while it gets too busy. I'd have to imagine that's not a bad thing in regards to their reputation. If you're in this area of town I highly recommend hitting them up! read more

I wondered how on earth did that pawn shop stay open for so long... I have to admit on my first visit I was pretty disappointed with both the quantity and the quality of the beers I tried. They only had four of their obviously not as popular beers that were cloudy on tap with about three others sold out. But, I liked the staff and the room so I knew I would be back for another try. Much mo betta this time around with seven beers all decent with a stand out stout and a pretty good pale. Like everyone else has mentioned the space is cool and I'm looking forward to trying other beers from them as they settle into Edgewater. read more
