There is another location, which I have not been to. Open everyday 11-8pm. The place is a bit small with a few tables, maybe about 9-10 small tables. While we were here, we saw a lot of take-out orders! This seems to be a family business, there's mainly 1 person in front, a cook, and one other person running around. So be patient. The Chinese food is pretty good! The dumplings are just okay though. The Pan Fried Pork & Vegetable Buns could do with less breading and more meat. Eggplant with Szechuan Sauce was very delicious and nicely seasoned. Spicy Crispy Chicken was definitely very crispy with a kick to it. It's nice having a dumping spot close to work and home and we haven't been disappointed with anything we've eaten thus far...except for the crispy spare ribs that were a bit fatty for me. I wasn't a fan of the seasoning but I truly enjoyed everything else. I notice that sometimes the Xiao long bao/dumpling skins vary during some visits. Sometimes they can be a bit thick while on other visits , they are rolled out thinner, which is what I prefer. Portions are plentiful and shareable which is great for large groups. I took my co-worker here last week and she really liked their shrimp fried rice and Xiao long bao. The shrimp and pork dumplings were hearty and flavorful, fried rice tasty and well cooked. We also had the chocolate Xiao long bao but prefer the ones at Din Tai Fung a bit more. But we've gone back there 3 times over the last couple of weeks and are fans of their food despite a few misses, for us, on the menu. We used to dine at the 4S Ranch location and really enjoyed the beef brisket, so we decided to order it here--but unfortunately, it didn't taste the same. We also tried to order the xiao long bao but ended up canceling it. We had already finished four entrées, and the dumplings still hadn't been made. Although we were told it would take 10 minutes, they still weren't out after 15 minutes, and no one gave us an update until we asked. I was craving soup dumplings and happened to find this place via Yelp. I came here for dinner at around 6 pm and there weren't a lot of people in the restaurant. The servers here were quickly and attentive What we got -Dandan noodles (5/5)- These were super good! There was a lot of flavor to them and meat in the noodles. The noodles themselves were very chewy. - Xiao Long Bao (5/5)- I love good soup dumplings and these didn't disappoint! They were bursting with broth and had a good amount of filling inside of them. I personally like these ore than DTF because they're bigger and have more soup in them! - Beef Wrap (4/5)- I thought this was decent. The scallion pancake was very nice and flakey while the inside was a bit dry. I wish there was a bit more sauce to it, but I liked how they had a lot of meat. - Chocolate Xiao Long Bao (3/5)- these were okay. The employee told me the fried buns take about 15-20 minutes, which was accurate. The fried pork buns were super good! I get picky with the meat inside dumplings and buns but I liked these. The breading is nice and thick. A lot of flavor for a small bun. I will say that they were a bit oily....it would drip down my fingers. I had leftovers the following day and I put them in the air fryer - great idea. Filling size. They included vinegar, chili oil and soy sauce and everything has a cute Joyee logo and design on it. I've been here four times now. I'm sure I'll be back many more. There's always a bit of a wait so whether you're dining in or taking out, consider ordering online first. I get a weird vibe from the staff that they really prefer it if you'd take out. On the one occasion we asked to dine in they got an itchy look as to whether or not they wanted us to do that. The next time we "ordered out" then ate on the patio. I don't want to feel rushed or unwelcomed. The food is absolutely amazing though. I've tried about a dozen items on their menu and while I can't remember a single one, I only remember thinking it was absolutely worth it and I'd come back from it again. So happy they open one in Poway an easy 10 min drive from 4S. They follow all CDC guidelines, mask, social distancing, and hand sanitizers. Very clean and open facility. FRIENDLY service. The first time my brother and I came here was actually on Christmas Day. We drove all around and could not find a single place open until we finally spotted Joyee's Dumpling House on Yelp and called to make sure they were open. To our surprise, they were! We ordered some dumplings and they made it really easy for us to pick up our order upon arrival. Once we got home we quickly divided up the dumplings and dug in. Guys I hate to compare but this place is better than Din Tai Fung!! I've had Joyee's Dumpling House three times before. I am not sure why I didn't write my review after the very first because every time I have eaten here the food has been consistent. I'm writing this yelp review as I eat haha. I ordered three items: the Braised Beef Noodle Soup, the Pork and Shrimp Dumplings (12), and the Beef Wrap. Beef Wrap: 10/10 Absolutely wonderful wrap. Super delectable and hearty - its got a soft outside shell and some tasty vegetables inside. It had some unknown white sauce which brought all of the ingredients together. The cucumbers inside were super fresh and even after being cooked still had the most perfect bite to counter-act the softness of the beef. The beef was very very tasty. Overall I would continue to get this every time I go to this place as an appetizer but it's good by itself as well. Braised Beef Noodle Soup: 9/10 Wow this thing was insanely fragrant and aromatic with all of the stuff they added inside of it. It had the most slight spice to it which made it a bit more unique. The noodles had enough springiness inside of them but I would have appreciated it if there was a little more chew to them. Despite that, the beef was soooo fantastic it made up for the noodles being OK. The beef melted in my mouth and was so flavorful. You could pick it up with your chopsticks and watch it fall apart. Truly the best part of this dish is the beef. The broth is also a notable mention - as I mentioned, super flavorful as the base of dish and provided a nice warm feeling in my stomach afterwards haha Pork and Shrimp Dumplings: 8/10 These actually were not better than the dumplings I've had at Din Tai Fung but about equal. Super soft and had a nice chew on the outside which is what I really like about dumplings. Fantastic size too - they don't skimp out on the insides of these dumplings. Its flavor town baby!! Let me make a disclaimer: In my opinion, this place is better overall when compared to DTF. In terms of their dumplings, they're about just as good. The reason why I have so much emphasis on this comparison is that I've only been to a handful of chinese places and maybe only 3-4 authentic ones that focus on dumplings. If you're in North County and want to make the drive out to DTF, to my knowledge they are gonna be pretty far away from you. I would highly recommend this place. So so so so good!! read more

I know there's another Joyee down in Convoy which I haven't truly experienced and I'm not entirely sure if this is the same spot though the name is slightly different. But I we really enjoyed our food from this Joyee's in Poway. We ordered through Doordash and though it took a little while (probably due to distance and the amount of food we ordered), it was worth the wait! We really liked the beef noodle soup! It was so flavorful and delicious! We had been getting it from Zen before and although Zen is a bit americanized, their beef noodle soup was pretty good. But then, Joyee's came along and it was better! Definitely get the beef noodle soup! We also got the homestyle tofu which when arrived wasn't really what I expected. Typically homestyle tofu is more of a brown sauce with the tofu braised in it. This was more of a spicy sauce. It was just ok. Probably wouldn't get it again. The beef wrap was really tasty but did it have to be so small!! For the price, it should at least be twice the amount. It was shaped differently than your typical beef wrap. This one was more rolled up like an enchilada vs. a larger, flatter smashed burrito. The dumplings and eggplant were also good so definitely would get those again. Oh, and let's not forget the pork belly and tofu. The pork belly pieces were thick! The tofu lacked a bit of flavor but had a good texture. The pork belly was definitely very flavorful - so check it out. To wrap it up - Poway seems to be a random location and I hope they can really sustain (especially through the Pandemic). My family decided to place an order for take out for dinner We ordered to try out.. -Pork Wonton Soup -Combination Chow Mein -Smoke and Salt Duck -Xiaolongbao (soup dumplings) I was very excited but after trying these items I came to be disappointed. The pork wonton soup was bland. The broth tasted more of seaweed but the wontons made up for it. By far one of the best wontons I've had yet. The combination chow mein was bland as well. And it was mostly vegetables and found it odd it had scrambled eggs in it. I was disappointed there was more veggies than noodles. Although the beef, chicken, and shrimp was in abundance to make the lack of noodles and flavor. I'm not a big fan of duck and I would pass on this entree. The duck had a weird after taste. Maybe cause of the smoke flavor? It was not appetizing. Service was quick and easy to place over the phone (the was something wrong with their online ordering system). Joyee's is open during covid for Takeout, and we were really glad we ordered from here. I placed a phone order and the food was almost done when we arrived. Definitely want to go back and try more of their items. We ended up ordering the Eggplant with brown sauce, the snow pea leaves with garlic, the xiao long bao, salt and pepper fish, and the sausage and egg fried rice. I had placed the order also for the steamed pork belly with preserved greens, but when I arrived at pickup, they told me they had run out unfortunately, after charging my credit card and had to refund me in cash. It was disappointing since this was what I was most looking forward to. Overall the meal was actually fairly good for Chinese food in Poway. There are few places in this area with decent Chinese food and these guys did a pretty good job. The Xiao long bao were actually pretty good, so if you're craving some and don't want to drive down to DTF/UTC, it will satisfy. I also appreciated that they didn't oversalt the snow pea leaves (in fact slightly undersalted), because one of the risks of getting Chinese vegetables is that you get too much salt in the dish. There were plenty of great flavors in each item, from garlic to the juicy xiao long bao. --------TL;DR-------- PROS: good variety, plenty of flavor, not oversalted (at least the snow pea leaves were just right), xiao long bao were not too dough-ey. CONS: took an order for braised pork which I was really hoping for, and we went all the way expecting it to be there and then after paying, found out they were out. refunded but disappointed (should have told me when ordering over the phone). Otherwise good experience. BOTTOM LINE: solid, good quality Chinese food in Poway, make sure they have what you want when you place your order and when paying. Had a very carb filled brunch (hashbrowns & chicken fried steak from Home Sweet Home in Escondido) earlier today. I really liked Joyee's container for the seafood soup wonton, and interestingly enough they included tomatoes which I didn't expect to find. Their wontons were nice and warm to eat with the soup, and also had steamed fish, seaweed, and bok choy. Steamed fish is my favorite as it was soft and tender. The shrimp and pork boiled dumplings came with sauces. And everything was also bagged, so if there was any spillage - it wouldn't be super messy! Which was good as some of the soy sauce did come out, but as it was bagged, not a mess. Overall kind of reminded me of homemade dumplings, though it was still missing some of the full flavor. I got food poisoning AGAIN. I started getting the runs and sharp stomach pain 6 hours after eating dinner from here. My wife was also complaining of stomach pain. THAT IS TWICE IN THE LAST MONTH for getting sick from here. (The last visit on dec 22, we got sick from the dumplings.). It is very concerning as we wash our hands before we eat and we did not get sick from eating at other places during the last month. Im thinking to say something to the california Dept of health services!! For this round we got the pork/bamboo shoots and cumin lamb. The lamb was soggy and not as spicy as it normally used to be. Don't have a ton of options for dumplings in North County so took the drive to Poway and think I found a new spot! We ended up ordered the Scallion Pancakes, Braised Beef Noodles, Chicken & Corn Dumpling, Pork & Green Onion Fried Dumpling, and the Xiaolongbao(soup dumplings). Hehe we were hungry. ~Scallion Pancake: was so perfectly flakey! This was a surprise favorite for me. I've had a TON of scallion pancakes and I haven't had such a delicious one in a while. Both crispy but soft in certain spot. Was the perfect crunch. I love the subtle flavor. ~ Braised Beef Noodle Soup: the broth oh my goodness! So tasty! Just the right amount of flavor I kept going back in even dipped a few my dumplings in it teehee. Noodles were perfect texture. The beef was slightly under flavored but that didn't bother me. The sauce paired perfectly with these and the soup broth inside was very good! The only thing that could've made them better was I wish they didn't stick so much to the paper because we kept tearing them, so a lot of soup would run out. The tray the come in has holes at the bottom so it would leak on the table. So needless to say we made a bit of a mess. We did find that if you picked them up with the spoon instead of chopsticks there was less tears in the dumpling. But other wise these tasted wonderful! We started with the Pork and Shrimp Dumpling, so good and forgot to take a picture we ate them so fast! Then our Combination Chow Mein came, OMG it was huge and delicious too! A new Chinese food option in San Diego is always welcomed, especially one that offers Taiwanese cuisine. We found this place on Yelp and with the mostly positive reviews, we definitely had to try it. This review is written after 2 different trips to the restaurant, each time trying different dishes. We've ordered different dumplings, pork meat pies (pork fried pancake), xiaolong bao (soup dumplings if you will), and various cooked dishes, including the braised pork belly with preserved veggies which is a Taiwanese dish, the cumin lamb, garlic snow pea leaves, and the meatball winter melon soup. As much as I want to like the food, everything was just okay. Some dishes like the braised pork is overly salty and really has to be eaten with plenty of rice to reduce the saltiness, or the snow pea which was so overcooked it was not edible (sadly tossed away). The soup dumplings has good flavor, but really needs more soup to make it juicier. The winter melon soup was good, and we would try other soups. Everything else was pretty bland. We got the XLBs, beef chow mein, garlic green beans, and salt and pepper chicken (take out) XLBs do not disappoint. The way the soup inside warms you up is perfect for a chilly day. The garlic green beans were good, big serving, definitely meant to share, unless you really want green beans to be your only meal, lol. The beef chow mein was good as well, I can't say that it was extraordinary, but it was a big portion too. Just as good as the avg chow mein for me, so if you want noodles, it's not a bad route. My family's new go-to restaurant for our Taiwanese food fix! I took my parents and brother to this place to try out some of their dumplings, and my picky parents absolutely LOVED it. They have many locations throughout San Diego, but this one was nice and spacious with plenty of seating. We came on a weekend during lunch time with no wait for 4 people and plenty other open tables. This is definitely a place you go to with groups because there are so many wonderful things to try! We ordered: - Salt & pepper fried fish: my moms personal favorite!! the fish was crispy and delicious! - Xiao long bao: a must when you come here. This soup dumpling was flavorful and juicy. A mandatory 15% service fee, mentioned in small print at the menu's bottom, was demanded after the bill and not included in the receipt. Despite the subpar service received, I left a modest tip. To our surprise, we were then confronted and pressured to tip at least 15%, with the staff member stating that if we disagreed, we could choose not to dine there. This experience was disappointing, as it not only reflected poor service but also a lack of professionalism during the tipping discussion.
