We decided to try this spot out finally. It's off the main street and doesn't look like it is much from the outside so it's easily missed unless you know to go. We usually go to another fave spot down the road but I am determined to give every spot a chance in the neighborhood. The outside may be deceiving but it's very spacious and welcoming on the inside. The hostess sat us right away and we were greeted by our server Bryan within a few moments. The menu has a lot of different options that I haven't seen anywhere else so it took me a while to decide. I finally chose the mango chicken and the fiance got the salted boneless spare ribs. We ordered the cream cheese wontons to start and they came out within minutes. I enjoyed the dish and it was perfect to cut the hunger while we waited for the main course. I liked the sweet and sour sauce it came with--it was deep red and sweet and reminded me of the sauce they served in NY. I was really pleasantly surprised by flavor of the chicken. The sauce was sweet but not too sweet and really complementary to the savory of the chicken. The chicken itself was cooked well and breaded just enough. Add the fresh mango slices and it was just a delicious dish packed with flavor. If you don't like sweet this isn't for you but I loved it. On the opposite end of the spectrum, my fiance got the salted spare ribs that came with sliced jalapeños and red pepper flakes. I wouldn't touch that dish with a 10ft pole lol. I wouldn't be able to handle a sample of the flavors of that dish (nevermind that I don't eat beef). But he absolutely loved it. So if you like spice he definitely recommends the dish. Service was great and everyone in the place was friendly. We will definitely be back and I look forward to sampling other dishes off the menu. read more

I had a work banquet here last month. I thought everything about the place was gross. The chairs in the rim we were in were half broken. There was no decor or sunshine in there. It felt like a bar out of the 70's. The food was so bland and not cooked well. They brought out family platters of a few dishes. Fried rice felt dry and flavor less, chicken was rubbery. Someone said that the shrimp would be good, but I couldn't eat more than a bite. It was covered in gelatinous sauce that didn't taste like anything. I am so glad I found this place! They're food is high quality and comes in large quantities (what more could you want?). He seems to know most of the guest and made great suggestions. The eggplant with beef is authentic. It comes with lots of vegetables. If you like eggplant, you should give it a try. The baked black pepper & salt pork is a must! It's boneless, crispy pork tenders but not greasy. I will definitely come back for the pork! Unfortunate that none of the options are listed online, but their in-person menu has all of the ones naturally GF labeled, and they can make many of their other options GF upon request. Of not, none of the appetizers were marked GF but I bet you can ask to have some of them modified. Best Chinese food I have had in a long time and I hope to return soon. My family was visiting friends in Bountiful and when it came time to eat they recommended Joy Luck. We choose carry out mostly because we were so tired after a long day of working outside. We ordered many different items and they were all excellent. My recommendations are: General Tsao Chicken, excellent Seaseme Chicken, excellent Orange Chicken, while actually not my favorite it was still really good. Cashew Chicken, really good Walnut Shrimp, excellent Beef and Broccoli, really good Kung Pao Chicken, excellent Salt Baken Spare Ribs, excellent Veg Lo Mein, I didn't try this, but my family loved it. Ham Fried Rice, well, it's ham fried rice. Egg Drop Shop, excellent Pot Stickers, excellent Cheese Wontons, really good. Great menu for those needing gluten free as they have many items. read more

The only downside side of this place is the fried rice is the ham is thin slices, reminiscent of lunch meat, and under seasoned. I came in for a Saturday lunch, to a moderately busy restaurant. I picked the "General T'sao Chicken" lunch special: egg roll, egg drop soup, the chicken, and ham fried rice. Most reviews of it were positive. A note: "General Tso's Chicken" (or "T'sao," in this case) is a dish that I willingly order across the U.S. Its ubiquitous nature allows for an interesting case study of how Americanized Chinese food is presented at different locales. Joy Luck's version was very basic/average. Battered and fried chicken, sauce, commercially minced garlic, and red pepper bits. But, I've sampled variations with broccoli (great), scallions (interesting), freshly minced garlic (always welcomed), and/or sesame seeds (sure). In this meal, a personal touch was definitely missing. Other accompanying items were forgettable, as well: the soup more liquid than egg and fried rice bland. I can't even recall what the egg roll filling was. Service, however, was prompt, attentive, and professional. I attended a luncheon at this restaurant with my family after my uncle's funeral. I don't live in UT but all of my cousins who live in the area told me that I was going to really like this place. It's fairly well known in the family that I'm severely addicted to Asian food and they know that I have a higher standard. Since the menu was preselected for the event, I didn't get to order the specific dishes that I usually get when I try a new spot but everything I was served was great. I don't have a bad thing to say about any of it. I actually plan to come back with my wife next time I'm in town and explore that menu a bit further. This is that restaurant you go to with friends, and when someone asks "what's good here?", the entire group shouts back "EVERYTHING!" This restaurant became one of our family's favorites several years ago. We started coming because, as others have noted, their care and selection when it comes to gluten free cooking is unprecedented. We come back, however, because the people who work there are always kind and professional, and the food is always great. My favorite restaurant when I come back home. I used to come here everyday for lunch when I was in high school. The prices are unbeatable for the quality. My favorite is the tangerine chicken. I have yet to find a replacement back in California. All of their other food is also delicious. The orange chicken is different from most orange chickens it's pretty sweet, but actually has an orange peel taste. The strawberry chicken is also something I have never seen and it is also very good. The staff here is also very friendly. We ordered for the first time tonight due to a power outage. We weren't able to cook and didn't feel like driving to The Mandarin for pick up. Our review is we were fairly impressed! Delivery was quick and the food cake greasy and warm! On the down side... ordering from yelp on grub hub they had no allergen information. I am Gluten intolerant and now in pain. Allergens would be nice to have listed, however we are also pretty sure this issue is due to ordering via an app and not in person. The Walnut shrimp was really good but didn't need to be fried. The Pad Thai we were super impressed with! It had a great flavor and shrimp and chicken - yum! The Lettuce wraps needed some love. They had corn, celery and zucchini in them which was interesting. The sauce with the lettuce wraps had us wondering shouldn't there be more to this? Typically lettuce wraps have a thick plum type sauce and this was soy sauce so that was sad. If they got rid of the corn and had a better sauce the wraps would have also been good. All this being said... I'd rather order delivery from Joy Luck than pick up at Manadrin.
