I was looking for authentic Korean food in the Garland/Richardson area when I came across this place. My friend had recommended a lot so I decided to try it. The food was good and very fresh/hot! I've had my fair share of spicy tofu soup and I really liked the level of spicy they offered by default. I got the fried dumplings on the side which are vegetarian friendly! I really enjoyed having them in between my soup. My friend got the chicken and potato soup and it was also very tasty! It was a slow Saturday night but everything was timely. The restaurant itself had a lot of tables and seating. I can't wait to come back and try more.

My friends and I decided to order takeout from this spot so we could enjoy it while watching the Paul vs. Tyson fight lol. The food was prepared quickly, and we got everything to go without any issues. I can't say much about the service or ambiance since it was a takeout order, but from what I saw, the restaurant has a traditional Korean vibe. I tried the beef soondubu, and it was just alright. Personally, I prefer places where I can customize the spice level, and I usually go for a vegetable soondubu, but they didn't have that option here, so I went with beef. One highlight was the use of purple rice, which was a nice touch! I also tried my friend's mandukuk, and it was fine. The real surprise came with my friend's galbi bibimbap, which wasn't what we expected. It wasn't the traditional bibimbap we were used to; it had bell peppers, onions, and a sauce, which made it quite different from any bibimbap I've had, even in Korea. It's still bibimbap in name, but definitely not the classic version we're familiar with. The kimchi and pickled onions were fresh, but not fermented the way I'm used to. Overall, I do think this place is authentic, but it just didn't hit the spot for me personally. I appreciate the mom-and-pop vibe, and I'd be willing to give it another shot -- just with different dishes next time.

Osam, Beef Soondubu

WHAT I ORDERED: Osam (spicy squid and pork) and Beef Soondubu PARKING: Parking lot INSIDE: Mom and Pop shop, great pictures of the food items hung on the walls, friendly staff as she took our order and called out when the food was ready. There's a rack to put your tray of dirty dishes when you're finished eating near the entrance. THE FOODS/DRINKS: The complimentary barley tea was refreshing, the osam had great flavor, not too spicy at all, but my favorite was the soondubu or tofu soup. It was rich in flavor and didn't skimp out on actual tofu and beef pieces.

Bottom: Tteokbokki top: Spicy Bulgogi

Amazingly delicious food! You won't find a spot like it in the area. It's a local gem!

If you're craving a delicious, traditional bowl of galbitang, this place is a must-visit.

the food is absolutely amazing! if you want homestyle korean food, this is my go to! the vibes are like a family home. the food comes out pretty quickly. i got the hot stone bulgogi soup which was a 10/10 and osam (pork, bean sprouts, squid, and rice cakes). that was also a 10/10! i also love the seafood pancake and fried dumplings here! the lady at the cash register is very nice!

A 01 Bulgogi

The beef bulgogi A1 is amazing, and the rice drink is amazing. I need to try the La galbi next time.

Food was delicious and came out fast. Service was great, but seemed understaffed. Ambiance was nice, quiet, no music.

Man this place is incredible. The restaurant and the employees are warm and inviting. The food is beyond delicious. I absolutely love this place!

For the price point the portions are really small . This place is for a 1 person meal .

Portions were very light . Gets super busy and only 1 person behind the counter . My son found hair in his Kim chee soup - did not cause a big stink - it happens .

The food is pretty good, can't really complain. There are better Korean spots in Plano and Carrollton, but still gets the job done

I'm so happy they built a Cho Dang in Plano!…read more This place is one of my favorite go-tos for Korean tofu soup & short ribs (galbi). I love ordering the combos so I get a little bit of everything that I want. The portions are decent if you're hungry & want to finish everything OR if you're not too hungry, eat half, and take the other half to-go for lunch the next day. The service is aligned with what you'd expect from a Korean place. Some of the older ladies working there are so sweet and helpful, especially if you tell them it's your first time, and some of them seem more intimidating and aggressive. Typically there isn't a wait for tables. Only times I've waited for a table are peak weekend dinner hours. The most I waited was maybe 15 minutes, as their service is quite fast for a sit down restaurant. This location has seats where you can store your personal belongings in them!

They have a variety of tofu soup options, along with other traditional Korean dishes. My table of four ordered a seafood pancake, various tofu soups, and kalbi. The seafood pancake was disappointing-- there was very little seafood and the center was mushy, not crispy. I got the intestine tofu soup in medium spicy, which had large chunks of intestine and generous helpings of tofu. The soup portions are so large, I didn't even finish my rice. As for the side dishes/banchan, nothing really stood out. As for the service, we were seated and helped really quickly, but pretty much left alone for the remainder of the meal. The prices here are decent, especially if you share a combo meat and soup with a friend.

Server was very polite but it was obvious they were understaffed by a lot. 1 server and whole restaurant was full. Regardless, server did a great job keeping up. Food: Side dishes: the kimchi, cucumber kimchi, spicy fish cake were great. The salad was okay. The japchae noodles were mediocre. And the pickled daikon didn't taste like they used much vinegar. Dipping sauces were all great. Sesame oil, samjang blend, a sweet and spicy sauce. Meat: enjoyed the brisket, beef belly, pork belly, beef finger meat, Hawaiian pork belly. The Galbi marinade would have been better with the finger meat marinade. Overall had a great meal and would come again. Hopefully will be better staffed next time!

When you walk in, you're greeted, and the atmosphere is great. It's a small, cozy spot, which I really like. They do get pretty busy on weekends, especially during dinner time, so it's a good idea to call and double-check. They also accept reservations. The food was excellent; everything came out perfectly and tasted delicious. My favorite was the bulgogi--it was nice and tender. I highly recommend this location if you're craving some good Korean BBQ.

Looking for the best Korean Fried Chicken? Look no more, you found it!…read more We stopped in for dinner and were warmly greeted right away by the very friendly server. We were seated right away and brought the water for the table. The restaurant is inviting with plenty of seating. After looking through all the options on the menu we decided on a 3 piece with Lemon Pepper, (5) Wings with Sweet and Spicy, and (3) Tenders with Crack Cheese. We also had the Crack Corn which was great. The Chicken was awesome! Super crisp and well seasoned. The wings were also so much more meaty than you get at other places. Everything tasted super fresh and is the best I have had in a long time. This is a top tier chicken spot and you need to stop reading and get in here! Highly recommended!

When I first walked in I was…read morevery overwhelmed with all of the options, but the young lady working the register helped me narrow down my decision between the three-piece chicken and the wings, but she highly recommended the wings so that is what I went for. I ended up getting them tossed in two different sauces, the honey garlic and the Yang Yum just a note they charge you $.50 per flavor so I originally thought it was factored into the price, but upon checking out, I realize that it's additional for the flavoring. I was very pleased with the honey garlic. The yang. Yum was just ok. It wasn't bad but the honey garlic just stole the show. I made it a combo by adding the sweet potato fries, the sweet potato fries were just okay as well but with the amount of wings I it was so much food so next time I probably won't make it a combo. I liked the wings but found them to be a little too fatty so next time I come I will get the 3 piece chicken instead. Overall the service was great, the food was yummy and even the slaw that they gave was tasty. If you're ever in the area, I highly encourage you to stop in and try it out.

Before the main event, we got the seafood & green onion pancake. Crispy on the outside and reasonably chewy interior. Good amount of seafood; in particular, the oyster stood out. It was also a nice portion that was ideal for sharing. I opted for the seafood soondubu. Everything, from the banchan to the specific side dishes served with the soondubu, came out not too long after ordering. I got it at spice level three which I thought offered the right amount of kick without being too overwhelming (I also like to think I have a pretty strong spice tolerance). It had a good variety of seafood; namely, the shrimp and oyster. I'm not the biggest fan of clams but they were definitely still tasty. The tofu was soft and silky. The yellow croaker and rice were great supplements to the dish. The rice perfectly absorbed the broth. The croaker added a nice crunchy break from everything. The banchan was pretty standard in my opinion - still, a great complement to the soondubu. Last but not least - service was attentive and quick. I will definitely be coming back at some point!

The restaurant had plenty of space, but service was still super fast and efficient anyway, which I loved. What I love about Chodang is that the food is stellar and such good PORTIONS. Knowing this, I still opted to order a Combo Special because the thought of having leftovers for the next day sounded great to me. I ordered the Kimchi Tofu Soup with Beef Bulgogi, and it was delicious. I usually order my soups at the Spicy level, which I would say has a kick and flavor but never leaves me panting for air or water. As someone who likes spice, I wouldn't say it's very spicy, but definitely flavorful. Beef Bulgogi is one of my favorite dishes, and this place's version does not disappoint. The meat is tender and has a good balance of sweet and salty. My friends also ordered Combo Specials with a Tofu soup and the Korean bbq ribs, and Spicy Pork Bulgogi. One of these friends opted for the medium spice level, which I would say is a safe choice for everyone, especially if you're worried about something being too spicy. All soups come with Korean side dishes, a whole grilled yellow croaker fish (delicious but lots of bones), and a hot stone bowl of rice. Nothing missed!

We ordered the Spicy Rice Cakes (Tteok-bokki) which was soo good! If you like mochi you will like this! It's slightly firmer in texture but it's deliciously bouncy and the sauce is mildly spicy and full of flavor. We also ordered the Stir-fried Glass Noodles and Vegetables w/Beef (Japchae) these are savory noodles with no spice with various sautéed veggies. They claim both of these are appetizers but they are huge portions! We also ordered the Grilled Pork Belly. They said this is their specialty and OH BOY IS IT!! They bring a grill/hot plate thing to your table and cook the pork belly right there next to you! They also bring out all sorts of sides such as kimchi, fresh lettuce, picked cucumber, cooked mushrooms, fish cakes, garlic, bean sprouts, lettuce with what I believe was gochujang sauce on top, flakey sea salt and possibly more if I'm remembering incorrectly. They even give you suggestions on how to eat it and it was the MOST DELICIOUS DISH! I am not a fan of fatty meat (and I ordered pork belly, I know!) but they crisp it up so nicely in the pan that I did not notice the fat. The plain meat by itself with a little sea salt on top was Divine but when you add it with some sautéd onion, garlic, bean sprouts, and kimchi on fresh lettuce..... there are no words for how delicious that is! And that is just the food! The customer service was phenomenal and the atmosphere was chill and cozy. Moral of my story is, EAT HERE! Give this place a try and I'm sure they won't disappoint you. 20/10 would recommend! I will be back because this place is GOLD!
