I decided to come here as I was in search of an alternative to the department stores with their unforgiving lighting and Victoria's Secret which I have long since aged out of. The store is small and I am glad I enlisted the salesperson's help, otherwise I probably would have walked out empty-handed after my quick perusal. I explained what I was looking for, was presented with a few options, and shown to a fitting room (note: due to ongoing covid concerns, Journelle is not offering bra fittings but has a diy setup with a tape measure and instructions within the dressing room). I think this may actually be my first Yelp review, ever. I worked boutique retail for years as a sales associate/sales manager/manager, etc., and my sympathies and solidarity always lie with workers anyway. But ... that's also part of why I was so horrified by the customer service here. I came in at 5:15ish. The store closes at 6pm. I said I would be fast and just wanted to try a few on because I'd lost weight recently, they gave me two of the same bra and I went in the dressing room to try them on. Asked for one more size, tried that on and when I came out to see if I could try another kind of bra, *the lights were actually off.* I looked at the time. *It was 5:35.* IN MY LIFE, I have never seen it. I'm glad things are different now from when I worked retail and you couldn't even tell customers you were closing soon -- because there were times I'd end up staying for two hours after close with a customer who didn't end up buying anything at all. But turning the actual lights off a half-hour before close? While someone is in the dressing room? That's bananas. I was like "Oh my gosh, did I mess up? Are you closing now?" (knowing full well they had a half hour before close) and they were like, "Yeah, come in another day around 5 and you can get properly fitted." I must have looked confused, because I literally *did* come around five, and she says "actually 4:30 at the latest." Sorry, no. If you don't want customers arriving in your store after 4:30, and you want to close down at 5:30 ... don't say you close at six. Put that up on the door. Because no other store *on earth* has that policy. There are maybe four options in the whole city for those of us with a small band size/large cup size situation -- and anything we can find is going to be expensive as hell. This place, Busted, Rigby & Peller and Nordstrom. Loved that this place was close and regularly recommended it to others who had trouble finding non-standard sizes. Never again. read more

I have been to Journelle twice, and I left super happy both times. The workers are so sweet and knowledgeable, the place feels like a personal shopping experience, and I have never felt so comfortable in my bras before. They are a bit more expensive than I would typically spend, but the quality of their bras are so insane that the price to me is worth it. I will be coming back again and again! read more

Nice store with the worst customer service! Came at 2pm - it was closed with the note on the door saying "will be back at 2.40", since i didn't have 40 min for waiting, I decided to come later. Will traffic issues came same day at closing time, found few beautiful things, but I was told I cannot try it on, I cannot return, and only pay it leave , because it's already 6pm. The worst part is that I needed underwear for the same date night. Dear business owners, watch who you're hiring!!!!! As a business owner myself , I wound never allow customers who are there for a purchase to be treated like this. If the point of your store is to make people uncomfortable in your store and with your product, you are doing a good job. If I am going to buy a bra for 100+ $ I want to feel it for myself and try on multiple sizes without someone breathing down my neck. Will definitely not be coming back. Disappointing experience. I had a good idea of what I was looking for but had to wait around for the sales person to finish chatting with a couple about their baby before being helped. Finally, I was led to a drawer with bras in my size, got a quick overview and then was shown the fitting room. No offer to measure me or make sure the sizing was correct. I was told that the store was closing early and I was the last customer. A bit annoying to feel rushed for that reason, especially when I had to wait around just to be shown a drawer with my size. I usually shop at department stores where I get measured, input on fit, and just generally more personal attention, and I think I will keep doing that. read more

Everyone knows shopping for lingerie is both fun and sexy, but shopping for prosaic things like a bra for utilitarian use feels much more like a chore. Still, this is just one of those things we as women have to do to look and feel our best. I've said it before: a good, well-fitting bra is one of the most essential items of clothing in one's wardrobe, so you owe it to yourself to purchase a high-quality one. I promise it will make all your clothes look better. You will stand straighter and taller and feel more confident when you wear the right bra. I swear. Unfortunately (but not always), such a purchase doesn't generally come cheap. And if you're lucky (unlucky?) enough to be born with a more ample bust, then spending a bit more is worth it. It's been a couple years since I bought new bras, so it was time. And I wanted to get a proper fitting. (You should also get measured and fitted every couple years or if you had a recent weight gain/loss.) I won't go to department stores for such a thing; I prefer a smaller specialty boutique as they are much more knowledgeable about such delicate matters. So where to go? I used to shop at Trousseau, but then it closed. Then I moved on to Isabella. That too, closed. Then I came across of a review of Journelle. The rest, as they say, is history. With glowing reviews and a quick perusal of the website to be sure they carried designers I know and love (Fantasie of England, Chantelle, Simone Perele), I had a feeling I'd be in good hands. I went in, and was greeted immediately by Noelia, who measured me, and got started by finding bras she thought I'd like, based on what I find both comfortable to wear, as well as flattering. After trying on several bras, I made my choices and picked out two lovely bras that I'm very happy with. While they weren't cheap, they were priced at what I'm used to spending, and again, since these are items I'll wear every day, I'm totally fine shelling out a bit more money. Shopping at Journelle was a real pleasure. They have a nice variety in all price points, and the staff is clearly well qualified. Ask for Noelia! And lest you think that Journelle only sells practical, everyday bras, fear not. They offer plenty of the titillating stuff that's much more fun to shop for, not to mention, wear. I am a man. I shop for my wife and I really enjoy Journelle. Before it came to the neighborhood, we shopped at Enchante and LaPerla downtown. We also shopped at G in the neighborhood. What I like about Journelle is that range from every day (stuff I don't care about) to fancy (care a little) to blazing hot (now we are talking). In some ways this gives us three different reasons to go to the store. We deal with Noelia who is as much of a draw as the selection. She takes care of us and reminds me when she hasn't seen us in a while. She knows our tastes (and my wife's sizes) so well, that I can purchase stuff over the phone sight-unseen without fear of return. Fear of sticker-shock is a different thing. read more

I admit, I was initially intimidated by the store from the outside, the store is done so well you think you can't afford it. However, they have so many options available to include their own brand...so I promise you will find something a a price point comfortable for you and it will fit like nothing ever before! The first time I went to Journelle was for a party with a friend and a bunch of woman I didn't know. From the very second you walk in you feel welcome and comfortable, like you are at home. We all had so much fun and I left with wonderful Lingerie that FINALLY fit! They take all the time you need to try on and find the perfect lingerie for you. I just went in again a couple of weeks ago with another great friend and we had a blast! I had recently lost a lot of weight and with that came many changes to my body. Ariane remembered me right away, like an old friend. i HAVE NEVER been to a store that does such a wonderful job with doing your fitting along with making you feel at home, drinks, robes a restroom (which most small stores don't allow you to use) With your fitting, It's not just about the size, it's the style and coverage and they sure now what will work for your individual body. The product is beautiful and I've spent thousands over the years at their soho nyc store. However, the bra I most recently purchased wasn't sized correctly and when I realized it 2 months after I bought it (wear sports bras mainly and strapless bras in summer), I was very disappointed in the customer service side. They said they'd replace it with the correct one but there has been no follow up in over 8 weeks despite my calling the manager and checking in. Would not recommend based on their ability to fit (which is concerning) and customer service when things don't go as planned. Open to changing my review if I hear back from someone. read more

Through recommendations of friends, I finally made my way to Journelle in hopes of a proper fitting. First and foremost, the store is beautiful. Although extremely clean and manicured, it remained inviting and comforting. I was greeted by both women working and Nicole introduced me to the store and offered a free bra fitting. Let me preface this by saying I am usually put off by this service, as fittings with other bra/lingerie companies never were accurate. At Journelle, Nicole took the time to not only make sure the measurement was correct, but she also explained how I want things to fit and what to look out for when bra shopping. We started with an everyday style in the size she measured me at and through the course of the fitting, she really listened and paid attention to what I liked or disliked in each style so she could recommend the perfect styles for me. WORST shopping experience!! I will never ever go back!!! The woman who helped me had no idea what she was talking about and was incredibly rude. She didn't great us in any way besides "what do you want." I asked for a bra with a cup and she said "so push up?" No. Not push up. Just a t shirt bra. She brought me only bralettes anyway because "she didn't understand what I was talking about." She also followed me around the store like I was going to steal something. DONT COME HERE!!! To be honest, I was a little afraid to come in here. It just looks so fancy and expensive from the window. I was intimidated. I'm not a fancy lingerie person. I buy my bras at TJ Maxx. But I wanted to get a nice strapless bra to go under my wedding dress, and I saw that they have one for $44 on their website. So I nervously walked in. I was helped right away by a very nice salesperson (I forgot her name, I'm so sorry!) who moved here from NYC to open the store. She didn't push the other bras that are twice as much on me and got me the bra I came in for. But she also measured me, and it turns out I've been wearing the wrong size bra. Forever. Well, for as long as I've had boobs. She brought me a bra in my actual correct size and it was such a revelation! I had no idea my boobs could look so amazing. I ended up getting two fantastic bras and a pair of seamless undies to go under my dress for around $100. Not bad at all for such a fancy store. Also, there are bottles of water and super plush robes in the dressing rooms. If you are like I was and are intimidated to go in, don't be!
