Great, one-stop-shop for lingerie wardrobe needs. I decided to come here as I was in search of an alternative to the department stores with their unforgiving lighting and Victoria's Secret which I have long since aged out of. The store is small and I am glad I enlisted the salesperson's help, otherwise I probably would have walked out empty-handed after my quick perusal. I explained what I was looking for, was presented with a few options, and shown to a fitting room (note: due to ongoing covid concerns, Journelle is not offering bra fittings but has a diy setup with a tape measure and instructions within the dressing room). I am happy with my purchases and am confident I will be returning here. read more

Great experience. The person who helped me was super encouraging, body positive, patient, and informative. Measured me, listened to me. I wear size 12 pants and they had my sizes and above. It's real lingerie so it is expensive but the quality is there. Recommend. read more

I think this may actually be my first Yelp review, ever. I worked boutique retail for years as a sales associate/sales manager/manager, etc., and my sympathies and solidarity always lie with workers anyway. But ... that's also part of why I was so horrified by the customer service here. I came in at 5:15ish. The store closes at 6pm. I said I would be fast and just wanted to try a few on because I'd lost weight recently, they gave me two of the same bra and I went in the dressing room to try them on. Asked for one more size, tried that on and when I came out to see if I could try another kind of bra, *the lights were actually off.* I looked at the time. *It was 5:35.* IN MY LIFE, I have never seen it. I'm glad things are different now from when I worked retail and you couldn't even tell customers you were closing soon -- because there were times I'd end up staying for two hours after close with a customer who didn't end up buying anything at all. But turning the actual lights off a half-hour before close? While someone is in the dressing room? That's bananas. I was like "Oh my gosh, did I mess up? Are you closing now?" (knowing full well they had a half hour before close) and they were like, "Yeah, come in another day around 5 and you can get properly fitted." I must have looked confused, because I literally *did* come around five, and she says "actually 4:30 at the latest." Sorry, no. If you don't want customers arriving in your store after 4:30, and you want to close down at 5:30 ... don't say you close at six. Put that up on the door. Because no other store *on earth* has that policy. There are maybe four options in the whole city for those of us with a small band size/large cup size situation -- and anything we can find is going to be expensive as hell. This place, Busted, Rigby & Peller and Nordstrom. Loved that this place was close and regularly recommended it to others who had trouble finding non-standard sizes. Never again. read more

I have been to Journelle twice, and I left super happy both times. The workers are so sweet and knowledgeable, the place feels like a personal shopping experience, and I have never felt so comfortable in my bras before. They are a bit more expensive than I would typically spend, but the quality of their bras are so insane that the price to me is worth it. I will be coming back again and again! read more

Nice store with the worst customer service! Came at 2pm - it was closed with the note on the door saying "will be back at 2.40", since i didn't have 40 min for waiting, I decided to come later. Will traffic issues came same day at closing time, found few beautiful things, but I was told I cannot try it on, I cannot return, and only pay it leave , because it's already 6pm. The worst part is that I needed underwear for the same date night. Dear business owners, watch who you're hiring!!!!! As a business owner myself , I wound never allow customers who are there for a purchase to be treated like this. I did ask to give me few min to try the bra as my size is hard to fit well , she just kicked me out. read more

this is not a comfortable place to shop, I realize there are expensive bras here but come on? If the point of your store is to make people uncomfortable in your store and with your product, you are doing a good job. If I am going to buy a bra for 100+ $ I want to feel it for myself and try on multiple sizes without someone breathing down my neck. Will definitely not be coming back. I'd go so far as to buy these brands elsewhere. I've read more reviews about treatment based on body type/etc and it all tracks considering there was weirdly no autonomy? read more

Service was great and selection was beautiful and colorful. Emma and Jess made my life so easy when it was time to pick up a few outfits. Helped me with fitting, got a size up or down when the fit was off, and generally were just a pleasure to talk to. Can't wait to come back and buy more! read more

My first, truly professional bra fitting. What a difference. Good customer service and high end products.

I have visited this store on multiple occasions, and I have been disappointed by the customer service each time. In general, the attitude is that they are bothered by customers who ask questions. I will only shop online now. read more

I had a fitting here yesterday. I was really pleased. service was great. I'm happy with my purchase. good experience, highly recommend.

Disappointing experience. I had a good idea of what I was looking for but had to wait around for the sales person to finish chatting with a couple about their baby before being helped. Finally, I was led to a drawer with bras in my size, got a quick overview and then was shown the fitting room. No offer to measure me or make sure the sizing was correct. I was told that the store was closing early and I was the last customer. A bit annoying to feel rushed for that reason, especially when I had to wait around just to be shown a drawer with my size. I usually shop at department stores where I get measured, input on fit, and just generally more personal attention, and I think I will keep doing that. read more

Everyone knows shopping for lingerie is both fun and sexy, but shopping for prosaic things like a bra for utilitarian use feels much more like a chore. Still, this is just one of those things we as women have to do to look and feel our best. I've said it before: a good, well-fitting bra is one of the most essential items of clothing in one's wardrobe, so you owe it to yourself to purchase a high-quality one. I promise it will make all your clothes look better. You will stand straighter and taller and feel more confident when you wear the right bra. I swear. Unfortunately (but not always), such a purchase doesn't generally come cheap. And if you're lucky (unlucky?) enough to be born with a more ample bust, then spending a bit more is worth it. It's been a couple years since I bought new bras, so it was time. And I wanted to get a proper fitting. (You should also get measured and fitted every couple years or if you had a recent weight gain/loss.) I won't go to department stores for such a thing; I prefer a smaller specialty boutique as they are much more knowledgeable about such delicate matters. So where to go? I used to shop at Trousseau, but then it closed. Then I moved on to Isabella. That too, closed. Then I came across of a review of Journelle. The rest, as they say, is history. With glowing reviews and a quick perusal of the website to be sure they carried designers I know and love (Fantasie of England, Chantelle, Simone Perele), I had a feeling I'd be in good hands. I went in, and was greeted immediately by Noelia, who measured me, and got started by finding bras she thought I'd like, based on what I find both comfortable to wear, as well as flattering. After trying on several bras, I made my choices and picked out two lovely bras that I'm very happy with. While they weren't cheap, they were priced at what I'm used to spending, and again, since these are items I'll wear every day, I'm totally fine shelling out a bit more money. Shopping at Journelle was a real pleasure. They have a nice variety in all price points, and the staff is clearly well qualified. Ask for Noelia! And lest you think that Journelle only sells practical, everyday bras, fear not. They offer plenty of the titillating stuff that's much more fun to shop for, not to mention, wear. So whether you're shopping for functional undergarments, or the more provocative items, Journelle has you covered. read more

I am a man. I shop for my wife and I really enjoy Journelle. Before it came to the neighborhood, we shopped at Enchante and LaPerla downtown. We also shopped at G in the neighborhood. What I like about Journelle is that range from every day (stuff I don't care about) to fancy (care a little) to blazing hot (now we are talking). In some ways this gives us three different reasons to go to the store. We deal with Noelia who is as much of a draw as the selection. She takes care of us and reminds me when she hasn't seen us in a while. She knows our tastes (and my wife's sizes) so well, that I can purchase stuff over the phone sight-unseen without fear of return. Fear of sticker-shock is a different thing. read more

Came to shop for my first time with them last week. Bought 3 items and after 3-4 days realized they overcharged me for 100$ . Not the best way to treat new customers. Super sad. read more

Journelle as a brand is awesome, and they have cute stuff, but I'll be shopping online from now on. Thank goodness I thought to call the 888 customer service number, since the manager at this location was not helpful. I hope upper management gets a copy of my colorful customer service ticket. They're going to be so disgusted. read more

I feel nothing but LOVE for Journelle in Bucktown, Chicago! Ariane and the entire staff are AMAZING! I admit, I was initially intimidated by the store from the outside, the store is done so well you think you can't afford it. However, they have so many options available to include their own brand...so I promise you will find something a a price point comfortable for you and it will fit like nothing ever before! The first time I went to Journelle was for a party with a friend and a bunch of woman I didn't know. From the very second you walk in you feel welcome and comfortable, like you are at home. We all had so much fun and I left with wonderful Lingerie that FINALLY fit! They take all the time you need to try on and find the perfect lingerie for you. I just went in again a couple of weeks ago with another great friend and we had a blast! I had recently lost a lot of weight and with that came many changes to my body. Ariane remembered me right away, like an old friend. i HAVE NEVER been to a store that does such a wonderful job with doing your fitting along with making you feel at home, drinks, robes a restroom (which most small stores don't allow you to use) With your fitting, It's not just about the size, it's the style and coverage and they sure now what will work for your individual body. We didn't realize what time the store was closing and in the end found out Ariane kept the store open over an hour late to continue to help us...CUSTOMER SERVICE BEYOND EXPECTATION is what you will receive here. read more

The product is beautiful and I've spent thousands over the years at their soho nyc store. However, the bra I most recently purchased wasn't sized correctly and when I realized it 2 months after I bought it (wear sports bras mainly and strapless bras in summer), I was very disappointed in the customer service side. They said they'd replace it with the correct one but there has been no follow up in over 8 weeks despite my calling the manager and checking in. Would not recommend based on their ability to fit (which is concerning) and customer service when things don't go as planned. Open to changing my review if I hear back from someone. read more

Great selection of underwear! I bought a strapless bra and it was super easy with the help of the sales associate expertise! I will definitely be back. read more

UPDATE: I was so disappointed to hear that Ariane is no longer working at Journelle - she really was doing a lot to bring art to the area by facilitating burlesque events with Journelle/YellowKorner and was working hard to support local artists. These sort of efforts are so important and so valued by the community - what a huge loss for Journelle. *** I was so impressed the two times I've shopped at Journelle. The staff is incredible helpful and knowledgable, and provided one-on-one assistance to make sure I got the right size. And I love the fluffy robes in the dressing rooms! It really rounds out the experience and makes you feel like you're treating yourself to something incredibly decadent. I just bought their Tomoe garters and they are so adorable! I can't wait to show them off - I haven't seen anything like them! :) Thank you Journelle for a great experience! read more

ultra chic, ultra boutique & just pure fun! The brassiere fitters are patient, informative & helpful. I would say it's the best in Chicago. I plan to return again read more

I can't say enough about how I love this store. The first correct fitting bra I've ever owned and felt comfortable as well as sexy in. Definitely needed and loved the staff (Noelia) to find just the right fit. read more

Michelle measured my new bra size and was so accurate! I was really happy she was able to pinpoint the best size for me. She picked out several lingerie sets that complemented my skintone and body shape. I couldn't be happier with my purchase. I was in from out of town and happened to stumble upon Journelle. I was a bit intimidated... they've got all their most elegant underthings on display and I was just looking for some quality everyday bras. Stephanie helped me out big time with a professional fitting. She was very patient and attentive and brought me several options to try. In the end, I walked out with two bras that I feel amazing in. I will definitely come back! read more

Through recommendations of friends, I finally made my way to Journelle in hopes of a proper fitting. First and foremost, the store is beautiful. Although extremely clean and manicured, it remained inviting and comforting. I was greeted by both women working and Nicole introduced me to the store and offered a free bra fitting. Let me preface this by saying I am usually put off by this service, as fittings with other bra/lingerie companies never were accurate. At Journelle, Nicole took the time to not only make sure the measurement was correct, but she also explained how I want things to fit and what to look out for when bra shopping. We started with an everyday style in the size she measured me at and through the course of the fitting, she really listened and paid attention to what I liked or disliked in each style so she could recommend the perfect styles for me. Nicole and Journelle took the dread of bra fittings/shopping away and I would file this one under life changing. I will absolutely be back, with anyone and everyone I can get to come with me. read more

I won't go anywhere else for lingerie. Ever. I have been to the NYC stores many times, but was so excited when I was visiting Chicago and saw that Journelle recently opened up a new location! They are known for their amazing mix of brands, from bigger well-known brands to lesser known indie brands. If you go, be sure to look out for their own line of lingerie, Journelle Collection. It's beautiful and you cannot find it anywhere else! The sales associates were very helpful and made bra shopping fun (who knew it was possible?). I brought my friend there, and she left wondering how she had been wearing the wrong size bra for so long. Thank you to the Journelle team in Chicago! read more

I have the best experiences at Journelle because of Alisa. I stopped by simply to get measured. Alisa not only identified the size that was best for me, but also the most beautiful (and most comfortable) styles for my body type. I had an awesome experience here today! I was looking for something to wear for a special occasion and there were so many gorgeous options. Alisa was super friendly and helpful, she had a great sense of what would look good on me (redheads can be tricky to style) and found some beautiful pieces for me to try. Really great selection in store and they had a good stock of sizes, too. I had only planned to buy one set but got two because I couldn't say no to either. Oops. Definitely would recommend this shop to anyone looking for personal attention and beautiful, sophisticated, high quality lingerie. read more

WORST shopping experience!! I will never ever go back!!! The woman who helped me had no idea what she was talking about and was incredibly rude. She didn't great us in any way besides "what do you want." I asked for a bra with a cup and she said "so push up?" No. Not push up. Just a t shirt bra. She brought me only bralettes anyway because "she didn't understand what I was talking about." She also followed me around the store like I was going to steal something. DONT COME HERE!!! HUGE MISTAKE!! Some of their bralettes are pretty, but as a 34DD I need a cup for a regular day bra. I ran out without buying anything. Will not be back. read more

If I could give more stars for this beautiful boutique I would! I am a long time lover/connoisseur of fine lingerie and have had a hard time during the last few years finding a shop that carries quality lingerie pieces that are unique, sexy and made from decadent fabrics... without completely breaking the bank or putting in layers of unnecessary padding, but Journelle totally delivers! They are everything I want in a lingerie store. The staff (especially Ariane) is so knowledgeable about the brands and fits and are experts at helping find that special piece, whether its for fun or function. The styles they carry are so versatile I am able to wear pieces through the day as beautiful pops to my everyday outfits but stripped down, they reveal a sexy little surprise! They believe that any size or shape can look sexy and beautiful if the cut and fit is right!... what a concept! This is definitely my go to lingerie store in Chicago!... finally a shop that doesn't believe that every size A needs to look like a DD. read more

This place is absolutely wonderful! Came in here looking for a special gift for my girlfriend. Have never shopped for nice lingerie before and this place made it comfortable and easy. The staff here was really amazing. They were able to help me select the right size and find something sexy, but not over-the-top. My girlfriend loved it. read more

This is hands down the best lingerie store I've ever been to. They have a perfectly curated selection of beautiful lingerie spanning all price points and have the absolute best service. Ariane, the manager, is phenomenal and it's always a treat to stop in. I've become a regular because I love this store so much. From my personal experience as a lingerie enthusiast and my professional career as a luxury boudoir photographer, I can't thank Journelle enough for elevating women's confidence by helping us finally find lingerie we love that ALSO fits to perfection. I always refer my clients to Journelle and I have heard unanimously glowing reviews. read more

I've been to numerous small, boutique lingerie stores in Chicago, and Journelle is by far the best. They carry a variety of styles at different price points. Christie- as well as the entire staff is amazing. They are informative, and I've never felt pushed to purchase anything. read more

Loved this place! For the first time I have bras that fit perfectly. The sales associate was super helpful and great to work with.

Amazing store, all of the products are extremely high quality, and beautiful. There is a great selection from delicate and lacy, retro inspired, and more clean lines and geometric. I highly recommend for upscale lingerie shopping. I made an order online, and picked it up in the store. The bra did not end up fitting, so Nicole helped me so much finding alternative options in the store. I ended up getting a completely different set that was highly inspired by the original one I wanted, but that fit well. She was able to return the pieces that did not fit, and helped me find everything I desired. LOVE! read more

To be honest, I was a little afraid to come in here. It just looks so fancy and expensive from the window. I was intimidated. I'm not a fancy lingerie person. I buy my bras at TJ Maxx. But I wanted to get a nice strapless bra to go under my wedding dress, and I saw that they have one for $44 on their website. So I nervously walked in. I was helped right away by a very nice salesperson (I forgot her name, I'm so sorry!) who moved here from NYC to open the store. She didn't push the other bras that are twice as much on me and got me the bra I came in for. But she also measured me, and it turns out I've been wearing the wrong size bra. Forever. Well, for as long as I've had boobs. She brought me a bra in my actual correct size and it was such a revelation! I had no idea my boobs could look so amazing. I ended up getting two fantastic bras and a pair of seamless undies to go under my dress for around $100. Not bad at all for such a fancy store. Also, there are bottles of water and super plush robes in the dressing rooms. If you are like I was and are intimidated to go in, don't be! They are super nice and carry surprisingly affordable beautiful little underthings. read more
