We came from Ottawa to Mississagua and we couldn't miss trying this place that we hear a lot about and it definitely didn't disappoint! Let me start about the place itself, very fancy and nice and the decor is very inviting. Even the washrooms are well decorated but unfortunately we're dirty so hope they take better care of them! They have a variety of juices, we tried the mint lemonade and was very refreshing. Food was fresh, yummy and flavourful. I highly recommend their dolma, I ate Dolma before but never that good! The kabob is nice but you find this everywhere else. Service was good but one thing we didn't understand was water! They said they don't provide tap water and only bottled water. This definitely makes no sense but wen we're too hungry to argue lol! read more

Really beautifully decorated restaurant but that's the main thing you're paying for. Food is meh and service is meh. Our waitress was probably the least amiable waitress I've ever had. Absolutely no friendly interaction, greeting, or even a smile. The bathroom is clean. We ordered a platter of 3 types of rice with a lamb leg, as well as an eggplant stew, hummus as an appetizer, and a platter with kebab, shish tawouk, and a meat skewer. The meat skewer tasted good, tender and flavourful and so did the eggplant stew. The bread was crispy and yummy. But literally everything else was subpar. The rice had no flavour, the hummus was gritty with not enough oil, salt, or lemon (basically also no flavour), and the rest of the skewers were the same. Disappointing considering this place charges a big buck. The portion sizes are small. I would not recommend this place and won't be going again. There's better out there. read more

I'm going to start by saying that it pains me to have to leave this review, I'm half Iraqi and these are my people. I expected a great experience but it fell shamefully short and even a 2-star is generous on this occasion but that's only because I don't want to be a complete ass. I made a reservation for 6pm tonight. We had never tried this place and wanted to see what it was all about so we drove in from Toronto for my partners birthday dinner. We arrived at 5 minutes to 6 and the restaurant was quite busy so we waited at the front as they were seating folks. A man who looked to be in charge seemed flustered and ignored us. Eventually we told him that we had a reservation for 6pm and he reluctantly seated us at a table right by the entrance door and made us feel like we were a huge inconvenience. We tried to get comfortable but the draft was freezing. The man in charge passed by us again and I asked if we could move. He gave me the most sarcastic huff and said "move where? where do you want to move?". I said "how about that table right there?" and he threw his hands up and said "okay go, move". So we went and sat down and started talking about how rude that experience was, but hoped it was just a one off and tried to forget about it. So we started looking at the menu. We were completely ignored for 40 MINUTES! We saw other people come in, sit down, order and get served food before anyone came near us. Eventually, we caught the attention of the man in charge and he came to take our order. We had some questions about the dishes but he just wasn't having it. He made us feel like we were such a bother for asking any questions even after we sat there for 40 minutes waiting. So we order. Our drinks finally arrive at 7pm (we have been there for an hour at this point) and one of them was incorrect and had to be taken back and made again. We also had gone up to one of the servers to switch one of our appetizers which she said she would take care of no problem but it wasn't. The wrong appetizer came out so we had to send it back as well and then our main course came out before the correct appetizer. The main meal (stuffed lamb with gravy) was mildly warm at best and lacked in flavour. And as if anything more could go wrong, I pulled out a long stringy hair in my serving immediately after I started eating. We were honestly starving by that point so I reluctantly chose to let it go. Shit happens, yeah it's super gross but it's not the end of the world. Then the correct appetizer then came out along with a mixed grill plate and bread. There was an eyelash on the bread. At this point I started taking notes to write this review because I was so shocked. Midway through our meal the place had quietened down and the man in charge actually came by to ask us how the food was and he even apologized for the attitude earlier. This took us aback and lightened our mood a bit, although he got SUPER close to us while talking and wasn't wearing his mask which was uncomfortable. As we were wrapping up, my partner asked for a glass of water and was told they could only give us bottles because of covid restrictions. Okay, fair . . . but let me tell you this place does NOT care about covid restrictions! The grill area is behind a huge window for everyone to see, and not a SINGLE person operating the grill was masked. Also the man in charge was running around doing tons of random tasks as well as running food to tables without a mask. It was a really bad look while mask restrictions are definitely still in place. Side note: they didn't switch the incorrect appetizer on the bill which I didn't notice and actually cost us more. Super frustrating. TLDR: The experience was EXTREMELY disappointing. The food was SUPER meh and way overpriced. Wish I could say better things about this place but we're definitely not going here again and don't recommend. Try East Tea Can or Royal Mezgouf instead for a top notch experience. My 2-star review is actually super generous. I'm way too nice. read more

First time visiting this place , unfortunately I came to this the food 0 star look my picture of my plate Iraqi kabab , it's look like cooked to hell and you can see throw my shish kabab and see bread . This kabab is good to hang it on wall not eat it and service very slow they bring food in different timing for each of us . I don't recommend this place first and last time for me and my family. Here is possibly the only restaurant in Canada where you can eat the authentic Iraqi home meals. The fish is prepared in the unique way that is used in the fish restaurants in Iraq. The fish as around 7-8 lbs each and feeds 3-5 people with the fresh iraqi unique bread, so be prepared. read more

If I could leave a "0" rating I certainly would. The place is the biggest disappointment and way overrated for what it's worth. Starting with the decoration, the place looks great, beautiful interiors and pretty nicely designed, way of changing the place from the original Walker fish market. Now starting with the first disaster! Service here is THE WORST that I have experienced in such a long time. We went there for a special anniversary celebration, our server (dressed in a suite, so probably a supervisor or so) was the biggest arrogant unfriendly unprofessional human being. No smile, no welcome, nothing. He was very rude and acted like he doesn't want to be there! The beef & chicken scallops come in 2 pcs per plate and they're both the same price. So when I asked to get one piece of each (mix scallops) so i get to try them both since this was my first time, I was slapped with a quick NO. Ok! It comes with fries as a side, can I replace that with rice instead? NO! After about 1 hour of waiting, everyone on the table got their food, this guy comes to me and says we're out of scallops! Both chicken and beef!!!! WHAT! I asked him why didn't you tell me before, now that everyone got their food, he goes "Yeah Well"! The mixed grill plates are priced at about $35 but come with no side!! You're just an authentic Middle eastern place, can't act like a fine steak house and serve no side to a grill plate! I literally asked for water 6 times in different occasions! And I asked for the bill 5 times, with every time I stated the number "this is the 3rd time i'm asking"..for example.. The bill was $150 for three mains and three apps. I give this guy $200 cash, he doesn't bring me change, I asked for change three times, only then he brings me my change throw it on the table with two $20 and one $10 STAPLED to each other!! Prices are way overrated, mains averaging about $30-$35, fish prices are very exaturated, at similar places you can get fish at $6/pound, they sell it for $18/pound here! Apps ranging around $15-$20... With no alcohol at this place, an average person would dine at about $50-$60!! Ridiculoussss Skip this place, do yourself a huge favour...there are alot of better options in the area, what a ripoff! 11 of my dearest closest friends took me out for my bday here. Immediately we were welcomed with open arms. They realized it was a birthday so they upgraded us to their private room at no charge. We ordered our food and they offered us free lentil soup person. The service is one of the best I've seen. The owner and employees were so accommodating. The food we ordered was fresh and delicious. This place could do a lot better than what it is doing right now in terms of service. Apparently it is understaffed and needs a better management. It takes a long time for a waiter or a waitress to come and take your order which is a bit disappointing especially if you are really hungry. This problem is very obvious when the restaurant is too busy (and I guess it is busy most of the time). The good points are first, the decoration. I so liked it as it represents the old times decorations we used to see in our grandparents houses. It has been well taken care of and the business owners have generously spent on it. Second, the ford which is amazing. I recommend those who like lamb to try the kababs. It is very delicious and the portion is big and worth the price paid for it. I regret wasting my money here, it's extremely over priced, I ordered many dishes to try and it was nothing special, service wasn't good either, they should learn how to talk to customers and be more friendly and ask how the food is, but they didn't. I heard a lot about this place many times in the past and I decided to try it today. I ordered the Ouzi it was nothing special, the best one I had was at MONASABA Restaurant. The chicken livers I tried only one piece and then I asked the waiter to take it and I said that I didn't like it. The beef tikka, before I ordered it I asked the waiter if it's good or not, he answered it's by luck, and my luck, sometimes it's good and sometimes it's not! Which was a funny stupid answer, so I decided to order it to try it and it was so hard, chewy, and no flavor. The ground beef kebob was ok, just ok, it was very fatty but nothing special not much taste. The only thing that was good was the lentil complimentary soup that they brought at the beginning. Wish I could rate him less than one star.... these guys had a very bad service and they lies on their food serve duration or the people Who works in the main dining room have no idea about the kitchen inside !!! They don't know if they have food enough or not because the young guy lie on us about the fish !! He told us that it will be ready with in 10 mins !!!! They keep us waiting for 45 mins. Yes 45 mins and nothing show up ??? Even other orders not ready ... and we asked them what is going on , the guy with silly smile said it will be ready with two mints !!! And then when the fish came ??? OMG it was frozen not fresh fish and taste was horrible and we couldn't-eat it !! All their bread they served burned and they keep give you one - by - one . Went there today for lunch with a few girlfriends. The decor is absolutely beautiful. The service was great. They give you complementary freshly baked bread and lentil soup. We got mixed grill, lamb rice and hummus. We shared this and everything was really good. If you enjoy meat it's good for you. The portions were large in size however, we did feel they were quite expensive without a side. However, it's a cute place for a special occasion. They also had a fire grill for fish... it was quite interesting. Never saw anything like that. read more

My husband and I (along with our baby toddler) were taking out a friend to celebrate after she got a job promotion recently. My husband is Iraqi, but both myself and our friend are not. We were all speaking English only, with the tables in front and behind us both with parties that are native Arabic speakers ... and the servers completely ignored us. So I guess if you're not speaking in Arabic, the servers don't give you the time of day. When we tried to order, we had some very simple questions for our female server and she didn't seem to know anything about the food served in the restaurant. For example, we asked if there was beef or red meat in the eggplant stew... she said "I don't know, but I don't think so." She didn't even bother checking with the kitchen. The reason why we asked was because our friend doesn't eat red meat (lamb, goat, or beef). We actually ordered it and luckily I have a very good palate. Even with all of the spices, I could taste that there was lamb in the stew. We were pretty annoyed by that, since we had asked specifically before ordering. The WORST thing that happened was when the two male servers came with our dinner plates. The server sat us in a booth along a curved window section. Our toddler was in a high chair on the side of the booth while us 3 adults were obviously sitting in the booth. The male server (pale guy with light reddish hair) had our 3 dinner plates on a giant serving platter. However, since our toddler was at the end of the booth, the server was hovering above our baby with all the food. He was also not paying attention and goofing off with the 2nd male server who was going to help put the plates on our table. So the guy holding the giant tray is partially dancing/wiggling/swaying side to side while holding this tray directly above my baby's head. My husband (who was sitting closer to the end of the booth directly next to my toddler) asked the server to be careful. The server was like "oh don't worry so much! It's not a problem!" My husband responded "well I AM worried. You're moving back and forth with a giant tray that probably ways 10-12 lbs above his head (pointing to my baby)" And the server replies "oh I know what I'm doing!" I was stunned. First, if a parent tells you don't goof off with something hot/dangerous around their kids, YOU LISTEN! Like it's not rocket science. But the fact that this guy COMPLETELY ignored our request was really off-putting, even before we had eaten any food. My husband ordered a roast chicken dinner, which was over cooked and dry to the point it could be called jerky. He typically doesn't like meals to have sauce on them and even he said that the chicken was practically inedible. Our friend ordered the ground chicken skewers. Again, the meat was extremely dry. The other downside to it is for almost $30 you only get 3 skewers but with no sides! No rice or salad or anything?? Unfortunately, she could only eat one out of the 3 skewers because the meat was so dry. I had a dish that had eggplant, ground meat, potatoes and rice. The flavours were good but the rice was extremely dry and had grains that were so hard I couldn't bite through them. At the end of the meal, we had to ask 3 different servers for our bill. We were waiting almost 15 min for them to bring us the bill and our toddler was getting very antsy (because he wanted no longer wanted to sit). I mean, you would think they'd care to get paid, but the servers act like they would rather be anywhere else but there. Aside from the decor, the food was only mediocre and the service was the worst I've seen in Mississauga. For ~$30 a plate per person, I would recommend taking your money somewhere else that treats their customers right. The restaurant manager really should be looking into this and take customer's reviews seriously! read more
