After usually getting takeout, my family finally decided to dine in. Typically we avoid dine in as they are always filled overcapacity and it's just chaos inside. And the dine in experience was exactly that. When you first walk in, there is no sign that says please wait to be seated so folks who are new never know who to go to and end up waiting at the takeout corner. There is a guy who is rotating between taking calls at the takeout corner and the entrance putting names on a little paper. If someone else who came after you, caught his attention first, good luck! Be prepared to wait. We were there around 9:30pm yet there was still around 30+min wait time. While I personally would not wait this long, the rest of my party wanted to experience the "hype". Once we got seated there is another really long wait before a server comes to you. They have also put way more tables than they can handle. So you're sitting elbow to elbow. After waiting for a while, we called a server and were finally able to place our order. Then there is another long wait for the food. By the time our platter arrived it was cold. We requested to get hot bread, which they did free of charge. Thank you for that. The food itself was nothing outside the many kebab places in Mississauga. The total came to around $100. Honestly for the prices they are charging is criminal. The entire experience will be very frustrating. Stick to takeout, their takeout prices are more fair and you're getting the same food. Will not be coming back to dine in. I suggest they implement a QR code for a virtual system like most restaurants and reduce capacity.

I placed an order for pick up over the phone, on a Sunday (at 5:18) and I was told it will be ready in 25 minutes. I got there in 20 minutes and there was a huge lineup for dine in and inside was packed, too. I went in and paid for my order and patiently waited for my order which was promised to be ready in 5 minutes. I waited and waited, watched everybody else, who placed their takeout order after me, picking up their orders and leaving and no sign of my order. I followed up with the staff a few times and they told me another few minutes, every time! I ended up receiving my order at 6:10pm (52 minutes after placing my order), which was ridiculous! I ordered "Chicken Shawarma Plate with Rice" and "Sumaq Mix Platter". The food tasted good, but the portions were small compared to what I paid.

I've been meaning to check this place out for sometime however, it typically very busy. I finally had the chance to check out during the weekday. The food was great, we had the chicken, fattoush (very tasty & tangy), potatoes (probably the least favourite ) & hummus with beef. The experience was tarnished by the level of service. From the beginning, as soon as I came in, it says wait to be seated. I waited until no one approached, I finally went up to request a table. The server took our order and never checked up on us beyond that. We got up to get our own drinks, I requested a plate to eat, never got it. We finally requested our bill & takeaway boxes. I'm reaching out to grab the plastic bag, she chose to drop it on the table and turn around. We felt like we were inconveniencing them through out our experience even paying at the end. What a disappointment.

Is it nearly impossible to get a table here? Yes. Is it still worth the wait? Also yes. I had initially went to the Sumaq location in Scarborough, which is more of a grab and go spot. I had ordered their platters on several occasions which were always a crowd pleaser. This time around I got to dine in at their Mississauga location, which I believe has a slightly different menu. My boyfriend and I just got the Veal topped Hummus since we weren't too hungry, and we were still barely able to finish it. Not only was the portion size quite large for an appetizer, but the hummus and meat were absolutely delicious! Will definitely be back again, hopefully Sumaq continues to expand since it is becoming a favourite of many!

This place has the rep of being the best shawarma spot in the city, and we kinda agree. The portion sizes are crazy huge. You def get your money's worth. We had enough leftover to eat the next day and were full then, too! We will say that chicken meat is superior and the veal meat is just okay. The flavor combination of all the ingredients is perfect and works so well together. We're obsessed!

It's our second attempt there and this time, there's no lineup. (But we later found out the sad part that the lines are probably caused by the slow kitchen, not the food.) Apparently they don't offer normal water and we were charged for 2 water bottles that we did not open. So we complained! We also saw no other tables got complimentary water. I thought it was normal for most sit in restaurants. The decor is nice and there are lots of seating area, all in front of a large open kitchen with ovens and their large shawarma in display!! That was cool to watch. But after 35 mins, I lost interest. We got free lentil soup which was nice as I was starving. And yes, I waited over 35 mins for a chicken shawarma plate/dish in which I could see it like 3 metres away from me. Lots of takeouts - somehow, but diners waited. The chicken was thinly sliced and cooked again which dried it up. At the end, it was hard to swallow and finish it. The cold potatoes were at least decent. And three types of rice was alright. No clue why this place is the hype when the food is not delicious at all. The service wasn't the greatest too. I couldn't wait to get out of there! Hydrate and clean my palate with something sweet.

Shawarma platter with traditional Iraqi samoor

You know it's good when you are waiting 30 mins to eat shawarma and grills. This was my first time having samoon. The soft bread with perfectly cooked shawarma paired with the creamy garlic sauce was a dream come true. The coolest part is that bread is made in house making this an even more authentic experience. Can't wait to come back to try more of the menu.

In my brief stint in Canada , I realized what I always missed most there (besides the northern hospitality) was the amazing halal food there. TO is ahead in the food game and it shows everytime I check up on the IG restaurant reviews. This whole trip I was craving Turkish/ Middle Eastern food and thanks to my good ol' Canadian buddy, he took me to the best spots , and without further ado, I entered Sumaq. It was a Saturday night and this place was packed and poppin'. Just organized chaos and all the food action was going on behind a glass wall. The process was so mesmerizing that after placing my order , I was watching all the action going on in the back. I had a mixed meat shawarma and I gotta say it was the bomb.com (see picture for size) . It had weight, was juicy, kept itself together, each bite had everything in there and I gotta say, that held me for the rest of the night (dessert was tough to fit in). My friends had some kebabs , plates and stuff. This is a shawarma lover's place to be. I was almost in tears after taking that first bite and pretty sure you will be too. Give Sumaq a shot

    Iraqi Kebab

Very very busy plaza with festive ambience, packed with people and vehicles. There's a long lineup in front of the restaurant. Along with many others, we waited about 45 minutes outside of the restaurant to get a table. Busy restaurant but good service, good food. We had Potato Chop, fresh and delicious filled with nicely seasoned grounded beef. Beef Borek, good as well. Iraqi Kebab, comes with naan, rice and fries making the overall serving really large for one person or even two, though the size of the kebab skewers are just about average, taste wise also about average.

Waiting for kebabs for 1.5 hours
    Masoud S.

Waited 1 hour only for raw, uncooked kebabs. All sides and breads were cold. The waiters kept saying "5 mins" which obviously was a lie. Poor service. We are visiting from USA, over hyped. Would not recommend.

We were looking for a new food place for dinner where we can try a good Middle Eastern and healthy food . So, we decided to visit Sumaq Iraqi Charcoal Grill located in Mississauga, ON. If you're looking for a phenomenal food / dining experience, look no further than Sumaq Iraqi Charcoal Grill. Their menu is a culinary masterpiece, offering an incredible selection of dishes that cater to diverse tastes and preferences. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the staff ‍‍‍ is friendly and attentive, making every visit a true pleasure. Sumaq Iraqi Charcoal Grill is a lovely place. Away from the hustle and bustle of the city in spite of being in the city . There's an ample parking space around the building. The place has the huge indoor seating arrangements and the seating arrangement is super comfortable and spacious. The staff is really nice, friendly and kept following . The food menu is great and there are many choices to choose from and they also offer quite a lot of small bites options to choose from.Pricing is decent, good value for money and the place is more suitable for a group of people.

The strip mall is possibly the only place with halal restaurants or something? It's jammed packed through out the day. The first time we visited this plaza we couldn't find a place to park until we went around the circular drive that goes behind the shops - but guess what - there are shops back there too! Anyway, back to Sumaq: Service was just "ok". Ambience was somewhat noisy but tolerable. Food, which was the whole reason for our visit, was excellent. Come for the food and you won't be disappointed. I uploaded the wrong URL and I cannot edit it now so here is is-- https://launch-pad.ca/sumaq/

This place is always busy with long lineups and I can see why now. The food is very fresh and tasteful. I really liked their bread. I went during lunch so the restaurant wasn't too full. The food came quickly to the table. Ambiance is great and it's family oriented

I got the belly lechon, which includes belly lechon, rice, half a salted egg, pickled papaya, cherry tomatoes and a brown sauce. Despite being in a food court, they definitely put a lot of thought into the presentation. The rice and lechon was wrapped in a (papaya?) leaf. I was impressed that the rice was steaming hot when I unwrapped the leaf, yet the lechon skin remained crunchy! The lechon meat was extremely tender. I think it's value for money ($15) given how high quality the meat was. The portion was just right for me, but for people who have a bigger appetite, it might not filling enough. My only complaint is that they were blasting the music a bit too loud in the enclosed eat-im area just for their stall.

I enjoyed Kibo Sushi House, Uncle Tetsu's Shop (the cheese tart was so good), and Hale Coffee. Lots of other options (Italian pasta, tacos, soups, chocolate shop, Indian, Mediterranean, etc.) that looked like it was worth a chance. I'd recommend grabbing food here for convenience and taste.

Who doesn't love finding somewhat hidden gem of a place?…read more This location is unassumedly in a strip mall with a music store and pet care business and was such a delight to enjoy. The menu is pretty straight forward but so many options with Taiwanese and Chinese street food type options and fresh noodle and rice dishes. We tried the cuttlefish ball and sweet and sour cucumber salad eppetizers, the original noodle dish with sauce on the side, non vegetarian street noodle choice and the braised pork on rice dish that comes with optional seaweed soup on the side. Everything was tasty, but the seaweed soup was the least favourite for our table. Cuttlefish balls were crispy on the outside, juicy and bouncy on the inside with a sliight sweetness. The Cucumber salad used black vinegar as the base and were not too strong or punchy but provided a nice crisp relief with the other dishes. The egg noodles were just great. Firm and chewy and did I mentioned never ending?? If you need more noodles to gobble up whatever sauce or broth you order just ask! And a bowl will quickly appear at your table, included in your price. The flatter egg noodle was very light and the rounder egg pasta more chewy, both were delicious and held on to the sauces perfectly. The braised tea/soya egg were hard boiled and flavourful and this rice dish was very kid friendly too, a great way to introduce kiddos to the menu. Service was quick and friendly and well worth a detour to visit.

The ordering system is kind of confusing. You need to scan the QR code on your table, which right away, I hate when establishments do this. Once you scan the QR code, you order online. You don't pay but you need to put your order through here. They don't come to your table. It was confusing because my friend and I were only ordering for ourselves on our own phones, which made sense to us. However, because I put my order through first, it only accepted mine. We were waiting like 10 mins after my order came for my friend's order. Turns out hers didn't even go through! You need to order for the whole table on one phone. Anyways, she got her order 5 mins after adding onto my order. We both ordered Mild spice, mild numbing with egg noodles. This was just the right amount of spice for me. They actually give you a lot of noodles. I couldn't even finish it. They're super bouncy and have a great chewy texture. The beef brisket was tender and there was a lot of it. If you don't like fat or can't handle some fat, don't get this. But I like fat and this was delicious and flavourful. Taste like a classic Chinese beef brisket. I appreciated the cilantro. It gave it a different depth of flavour with each bite. The broth was perfect, especially on a cold winters day. Not sure I would return but it was an ok meal and a decent amount.
