I was so happy to have happened upon this great eatery that features shawarma and pizza! I am visiting the area and I LOVE well seasoned food and the food was so amazingly flavored and fresh! I really enjoyed my falafel platter immensely. It included fluffy, made in front of me (to order), falafel doused in a garlic and kickin' hot sauce over rice accompanied by a side fattoush salad and hummus. The falafel was cooked perfectly and had a fluffy and not overdone or super friend texture to it. The sauces drizzled on it were AMAZING, especially the hot sauce which the secret receipt he explained was passed down from his Italian born grandmother through the generations! I could drink this hot sauce and garlic sauce , it literally was SO good. The side fattoush salad featured fresh and crisp vegetables and was delicious as was the hummus. Everything tasted very fresh! I gladly ate there at the side bar with tall chair seating which allowed me to chat with the nice and gracious owner, Alex, who explained he moved from Italy and uses Italian 00 flour and other real deal Italian ingredients in his sauce. That is why his pizza is far above the competitors in the area. You are getting high quality pizza here because the ingredients are just superior. And, where on earth can you get an awesome quality pizza with shawarma on it? Here folks! My dining companion had a chicken shawarma wrap, the regular size, and it was HUGE. But, more than that, it was delicious and completely devoured. No complaints there. One thing to note is that Alex prepares things in batches and when he sells out he sells out for the day. Check my pictures to see a picture of the delectable pizza from dough he hand tossed/stretches in front of us. Alex explained the Italian origins of the pizza components. He explained with the finer flour and better ingredients leave you not feeling heavy or with indigestion after eating it. Alex takes pride in his craft and the results are shown by the food he produces. Located in a strip mall off a side street off Dundas street this spot is unassuming. There are two tables and a bar eating area in the store. The owner was super friendly and welcoming and the food was bomb. Definitely check this place out if you are in the area-you will be glad that you did. We will definitely be back before this trip is over. Thank you, Alex! read more

Yay, I finally got to try the lamb shawarma pizza. We come to Mississauga twice a year, and we were trying to check this place out during our last visit, but they were out of lb shawarma the two times we tried during our last visit. I called ahead this time, and they had lamb shawarma pizza, so we headed over right away. There are only two tables inside. Unfortunately, both were empty when we got there. My husband got the lamb shawarma wrap (super size), and I ordered a medium lamb shawarma pizza because that's the smallest size they offer for lamb shawarma pizza. The food took about 15 minutes. The pizza looked and tasted amazing. I ate 1/3 of the pizza myself because it was so good. My husband really enjoyed the wrap too, but when he tried the pizza after finishing the wrap, he liked the pizza even more, and this is in a full stomach already. Overall, I highly recommend this place. This is a family owned restaurant, and the owner is a nice guy who makes great food. We will definitely be back again. read more

Stopped in for the first time as a visitor to the area. I ordered a super shawarma wrap and it was massive! Unfortunately they were out of both beef and lamb being later in the day so I had to go with the chicken. I still wasn't disappointed at it was extremely flavorful especially if you add his homemade hot sauce with it. Alex was friendly during my meal and if my visit were longer I would definitely be coming back. I guess I'm gonna have to order a shawarma pizza to go! read more

I called the restaurant at 7:35 and asked if it was too late to place an order as they close at 8. He said no go ahead. I told him it was my first time trying this place. He said he can prepare the food when I get there. My brother and I drove over. He was sooo welcoming and kind. He showed us the menu and started preparing our order. Once he was done, he asked my brother and I to try the food before we leave to make sure we like it. Prices are very reasonable, food was good, service is amazing. Next time I will def try the pizza. read more

Oaza Shawarma Plus - Chicken on Z Rocks - Middle Eastern Near Me - Mississauga, Ontario

Halfway through eating our shawarma wraps, my dining companion and I looked each other and almost simultaneously noted how extremely adequate the concoction was. We had both ordered the same thing, a chicken shawarma wrap, and I had gotten mine without pickles and with extra hot sauce. It's a decent wrap. All the components work well together and every bite contains a good amount of everything. So what's the problem? There's nothing here that really stands out. There are no bold flavors, the spice level was almost non-existent, and, worse yet, there were absolutely none of those coveted crispy bits that define a top-notch shawarma. I'd totally eat at Oaza again, but I doubt I would make any effort to go out of my way to do so. read more

My fiance and I were in the neighbourhood after viewing yet another wedding venue and were looking for a solid food choice as we were starving. Oaza came up in Yelp when we searched with strong reviews so we decided to take a chance. Upon walking in, we were greeted by a very nice lady (who we later found out was the owner's sister) and felt very welcome. The place itself was spotless - love to see that pride of ownership. I ordered a falafel wrap and my fiance went with the mixed shawarma plate (beef/chicken). All of the food was carefully made, beautifully presented, and most importantly tasted amazing. We were told all sauces were made in house as well, which is awesome. We also ordered one of their house made baklava to go and it was insanely delicious. Can't wait to return!! Wish Oaza was closer to our neighbourhood! read more

Oaza Shawarma Plus - lunch time!!! - Middle Eastern Near Me - Mississauga, Ontario

3.5*, rounded up for friendly service! Restaurant is hidden on the interior of an L-shaped plaza off Dundas. Oaza faces Liruma, the smaller street, so sign is not apparent off the main street. The place was empty on a Friday evening, so it appears more suitable for takeout. There are 2 tables and a long counter for seating. Prices are in-line with other shawarma places. It was $10.99 for a Chicken Shawarma Plate (bed of rice, chicken on top, a rather small salad and a tablespoon of hummus). Everything seemed fresh, meat wasn't dry. I'd say portions are a tad smaller than other places, 2Xs more rice than meat for sure. Portion is suitable for 1 really hungry man or 2 "lighter meals". Nothing was overly salty or too saucy. Garlic sauce is quite creamy and nice. Decent for a quick takeout in the area as there isn't much competition around! read more

Hello fellow foodies today I decided to stop by this place after seeing all the great reviews for some lunch take out . Glad I did as it was not a disappointment as so true to all the great reviews. Food 5/5 ...I got the chicken shawarma plate , the chicken was tender not dry very well seasoned flavorful, the rice was perfectly cooked with it's own unique flavour, they must make all there in house sauces that they place on top of rice and chicken because they taste incredible and very different then all other shawarma places I have ate at before loved there sauces ...salad was fresh with the perfect dressing on it ..with a small side of chick pea spread and pita bread to go with it puts these guys over the top as far as I am concerned. Service 5/5 ...looks like the owner has personal pride in not only the good food he is serving , but his attention to detail and amazing customer service If you have not tried this shawarma place out yet go out and get you some its priced right also 5 star place ....keep up the great food and service guys read more

There is a great twist on this Shawarma place. The owner half Italian and half Egyptian has brought a different flare to your commonly known "on the rocks" and shawarma plate. Tried this place just based off the reviews and was stuffed half way through. Oh and if there are any left when you go, you need to try his sweets, not overly drenched in honey and not overly sweet, perfectly sweet with a great crunch. Yum! In the coming months the owner will be adding spaghetti with meatballs but again with a shawarma take and after that look out for pizza made like true Napoli style. So can't wait for that! You have to try this hole in the wall, off the beaten path, it's pretty amazing with great value. Promise you really won't be disappointed. read more

One of my fav shawarma place. Good for lazy days after work when you don't want to cook. Chicken + beef on the rock (rice): 5/5. Make sure you add lots of garlic sauce and hot sauce. Rice is aromatic and cooked at perfect texture, soaks up the sauces and goes soooooooooo well with the chicken and beef. Only $8.5! Or you can make it half half (rice + fries). However I prefer only rice because their fries are not exactly the best type to go with rice. read more

This is some of the best shawarma I've had in ages. You can tell that this man takes pride in the food he serves. I was hesitant on the hot sauce, but it's house made and you can really taste the red pepper. I'm glad the owner convinced me to try it! It's not too spicy either, more for flavor than anything else. I ended up using a side of the hot sauce as a dipping sauce for my fries too. Easily would come back to again. Thanks for the great shawarma! read more

Yikes, maybe we had a bad batch. We visited on a busy Thursday evening, around 7:30 PM. We were greeted by a sweet, friendly woman by the counter who answered all our questions about our orders - after craving shawarma all week, we couldn't wait to try this! We ordered two "plates" (which are like combos, but without a drink) for takeout - a) the Chicken Shawarma Plate ($10.99), and b) Chicken Kabob Plate ($11.99). Each plate comes with salad, rice OR fries, and pita bread with hummus. The positive part is that the basmati rice and garlic sauce that accompany your meals are absolutely and positively delicious! Plus, the chicken kebabs weren't bad either - a tad tough and mildly overcooked, but marinated and seasoned very well! Unfortunately, the rest of the food fell a bit short for us, sadly. Perhaps it had to do with having only one cook in the kitchen and many orders to fill and feed. The chicken shawarma was actually really gamey and 95% dark meat - personal preference, but I prefer chicken breast for my shawarmas. So if you like dark meat instead, this plate could be for you. I couldn't taste the chicken at all and we found it super gamey-tasting, plus we also found the hummus very bland - no real flavour here either (no kick, and it needed a dash of salt). Also, I would pass on the fries as part of your combo. The fries are re-heated frozen fries that we saw dumped out of a pre-made french fry bag you get at grocery stores (like a McCain bag) - it wasn't fresh and wasn't crispy either. However, the rice, kebabs, and garlic sauce were so good that we may swing by one day in the future if we're ever in the area again. For two plates, we paid $25.97. read more

This was, hands down, the best Chicken Shawarma I've ever had! The meat looked appetizing and lean on the rotisserie, the sauce's flavour stood out nicely, the veggies and pickles were crunchy and it was packed tightly. Even the pita looked appetizing as the sandwich was prepared. After rolling it up, he put the shawarma into a sandwich press to give it a touch more heat. Heavenly hot sauce too, yumm! The place is hidden off Dundas in a tiny U shaped strip mall behind a Vietnamese restaurant and has a nice picture window facing the parking lot. There are a couple table/booths to sit in and eat and as well there is a long bar with stools facing the grill area. They even have Coke in bottles, a nice touch. The restaurant looked clean and well taken care of. There were people lined up waiting at lunch time and a few bagged orders on the bar waiting to be picked up. Worth seeking out for your shawarma fix! read more

The food here is delicious. Family-run by immigrants from Northern Iraq. It's a brother-sister operation. Tucked away in an unsuspecting plaza in Mississauga among a coin laundry and other run-down shops. FOOD: Everything is home-made, from scratch, and prepared just the way the family would prepare the food for their own family (according to the sister). The hummus, tahinis, sauces, meats are all marinated and cooked in-house. I ordered a chicken shawarma dinner plate: rice, chicken, side salad, hummus with rose water and spices, and side of grilled crispy pita bread. And a chicken shawarma sandwich (pita). The chicken was seasoned well, and cooked perfectly. They drizzle this thousand-island style dressing on top of the chicken that is sensational. A bit on the sweet side, but a nice change from all the garlicky white sauces I am used to (Lazeez, Halal Guys). Check this place out if you are ever in the area! read more

I wish I could review the place higher as they're very friendly and my last visit a few months ago was better. The rice is indeed seasoned, which is nice, but some lentils would make it even better. I like how they give you a grilled pita along with a platter too. I enjoy pickled turnips, but I found theirs too sour. The hummus did the job, but the creamy sauces were only okay - and almost too much like salad dressing. Excellent hot sauce however. The disappointment with my last visit however was that the meat - both chicken and beef since I ordered a mixed platter - were not fresh. It really brought the whole thing down. Fair enough, I was there on a Saturday evening which may not be the busiest time, but it would be hard to recommend a place without reservation when there's the risk some periods of time will be better than others. If the meat was fresh, this place would be an easy 4 star, but perhaps you may want to come at lunchtime. read more

Headline: Way better than Paramount! # of Visits as of this review: 1 Date of visit: 12/23/2013 Service: 4/5 Pricing: 4/5 Food: 5/5 OMG - where the heck have you been? Why did I not know about you sooner? Oaza means oasis in Polish and this is a Middle Eastern place. WTF right? Well, the owner's wife is Polish. I think it's so adorable when owner's name their store after their loved ones, whether it be their wife, daughter, kids, husband, etc. It adds a certain charm to it. Anyways, I got the chicken shawrma plate with rice, salad, hummus and pita bread for $9.99. While this is pricier than a lot of hole-in-the-wall joints in Toronto, it is cheaper than Paramount and the quality of food is definitely here. What I liked: -Chicken shawrma was very fresh and nicely seasoned. -They use basmati rice instead of long grain rice -Homemade hummus is to die for. SO GOOD! They also take their pita bread and grill it for you, so it has a nice crisp to it. A mix between a pita chip and normal baked pita, but dip it in the hummus and you start to have a foodgasm. -Hot sauce is very good too -Owner is very nice What I didn't like: There's not much I didn't like. While the salad was okay, it wasn't anything special. It's not that I didn't like it, but the quality of the rice, hummus, chicken and hot sauce outshone the veggies so much. It wasn't even a fair fight. Verdict: Go here. It's a hidden gem in Mississauga behind a Mr. Lube (I know - weird). read more

Walked in here after work looking for a meatless meal. Falafel sandwich and Baba Ghanouj it was! Linda served us and prepared the dishes personally. The baba ghanouj was fresh and delicious. It wasn't sour from using an older eggplant. Many of the chunkier fibers were still in tact, giving it a rustic texture. It's nice to have baba that isn't too heavily mayo based. We ordered a side of grilled pita (not included...) and enjoyed dipping away. The falafel had a nice crust and good seasoning. The vegetables were really fresh, and the pickled turnips were wonderful, not having been soaked or pickled too long (they were still white in the middle). Their hot sauce is really just like added spice without any other dimension. I slathered my extra baba on top of the sandwich. Yum. The baklava was nothing to rave about, but it wasn't oversoaked in honey. I would have appreciated more of the nutty filling and some more seasoning. Still a nice sweet bite. Worth giving a try for their shawarma next! read more

As I've mentioned in my previous review of the kabab grill, I've had a past history of going to some pretty sketchy and questionable middle eastern/shawarma places before that left bad impressions in my mind. Luckily, Oaza Shawarma Plus is an exception. The inside of the place is pretty small which is sort of a drawback, but luckily the place looks pretty nice and is sanitary unlike many shawarma places I've been to. The guy that was working behind the counter was really nice and even had a sense of humor, it's good to see an employee/owner who actually gives a crap about his customers for once. He was pretty quick at preparing the food too despite the fact he was working alone. As for the food, the chicken shawarma was great. It tasted good and had a nice texture to it. The rice was better than I expected and the meal also included some pita bread which was probably the most surprisingly tasty part of the meal considering i normally don't care for pita breads. Everything was shockingly fresh, the vegetables included in the plate of food I got tasted as though they were literally just freshly cut in front of me. The price of the meal was probably about 30% more than your typical shawarma place but it was absolutely worth it, I don't think I'd ever be willing to spend less than what I spent here again. Overall this was a nice little hidden gem and I'd recommend it to any fans of middle eastern food. read more

INCREDIBLE food! We had the falafel sandwich and the Oaza (chicken) on the Rocks (rice). The garlic sauce, hot sauce, and tahini sauce were all extremely flavorful. The falafel was scooped and cooked to order. This food easily rivals any food I've had in NYC (where I live). We sampled some homemade desserts as we left and they were delicious too. The perfect way to end the meal. And, if giving your money to a business owned by good people is important to you, spend your money here! The owner was wonderfully hospitable. read more

Ownership changed two months ago, and food has gone down. I used to go to this place frequently and do take out for shawarmas . I have not been there for a year. Today I went with my wife. I was rather disappointed. The ownership has changed and a new owner who was very friendly greeted us. He was very inviting and made us feel welcome. The new owner said he took over the restaurant in May 2018. Nonetheless the bottom line is that food price went up a dollar or two, and the food size shrank by 1//3. We ordered 2 wraps: 1 beef shawarma, and 1 kofta wrap. The price came out to almost $20 dollars, including tax. The problem was the both wrap sandwiches were 1/3 smaller than before when the previous owner made the sandwiches. The restaurant has not changed name and the decor is 100% same, it is natural for customer to compare the food to the food he or she used to get at this place, but now the price is higher but food size shrank. Almost 2/3 of the wrap sandwich was lettuce and other veges, and tiny amount of meat was in the sandwich. If you spent 20 dollars and went to regular restaurant and ordered one dish, you certain would have gotten more for your money. In terms of taste, it was not better than the previous ownership run restaurant, but giving less and asking for more. I am sure the new owner has his reasons, such as higher cost of food input, but given that he kept the same restaurant name and every exterior and interior appearance of the original Oaza Shawarma restaurant was retained, I am sure his goal was to be able to keep the loyal following of old customers of this restaurant. But greeting the old customers with higher price and very noticeably less amount of food is not a smart move. I am sure many customers who know this place will come in and smile to be polite, but I serious doubt they will coming back. Nothing that taste bud can sense has changed. Nothing the eyes can notice has changed. But you are asked to pay more money for less food. I understand the restaurant business is tough and profit margins are thin. I empathize with the new owner who seems like a great guy. He was the best thing about the new ownership. But still, less food and more money don't add up for good experience for old customers like me. I just don't think his strategy for retaining old customers is sound. Best of luck BB L read more

Solid 4/5 I was in the area and I was of course craving a shawarma... The lady working behind the counter was knowledgeable and friendly. I was asking her questions and making small talk and she proceeded to tell me that all their sauces/ingredients are made in house. Not bad! I ordered my usual chicken shawarma wrap with all the toppings and saw the baklava near the cash so I purchased that too. The wrap was packed with great fresh ingredients... Loved the cucumbers in my wrap...good amount of high quality meat, hummus was yummy, the garlic sauce was alright (I've had way better), but the chicken unfortunately was so salty :( I could tell my wrap would've been great if the seasonings were on point. The baklava was not good. It was soggy and lacked flavour. All in all I had a great customer service experience and a mediocre food experience. Will I be back for more shawarma? Probably not. read more

Car was at the dealer for an oil change, checked Yelp for places near by, saw the two buffet restaurants next door but I decided to go to Oaza's since lunch buffet was most likely done. Walked in I was greeted very nicely, I ordered a shawarma and fries with drink. The place was clean and had a large cooking area and back kitchen, but the seating was small 2 tables with 5 seats each near the window and a bar styled area with stools. You could tell it was the owner and his son working. The owner seemed focused on giving good customer service and a good shawarma. He showed me the sandwich after he put the sauce to get my approval for quantity. He let me know when he finished wrapping the sandwich he would delay heating it so he could serve it hot with my fries. The chicken shawarma was spiced lightly but was very tender and the sauces tzaziki, hot sauce, garlic sauce, and hummus nicely complemented the chicken. It left the sandwich with a well rounded flavour. The heated sandwich press left a nice crunch to the pita, overall, chicken shawarma wrap was excellent. Fries were nothing special. The flyer and menu prices did not match, not sure if the the menu recently changed but nothing on the flyer or menu are the same so realistically flyer should be replaced. The shawarma prices are slightly more expensive then other places but here they do not make it up by putting less chicken. read more
