On two consecutive days, I had interactions with the same staff member, Susanna, and both experiences left me feeling dismissed and disrespected. The first time, I called with a simple question about the insurance authorization process for an upcoming procedure because I genuinely didn't know how it worked. Instead of politely explaining the process, I was spoken to in a rude, impatient tone that made me feel as though I shouldn't have asked the question. The following day, I called to ask if my appointment could be moved from 9:40 AM to an earlier 8:30 AM slot because I was concerned about Friday morning traffic. I was immediately told there was no availability. I could totally tell that she wasn't checking. So I called the Arcadia call center just a few minutes later, they found the 8:30 AM appointment without any problem and changed it for me. When I called the Downey office back Susanna to ask about the discrepancy, I received different explanations, "Maybe someone just canceled it" and instead of a sincere apology, I was told, "My bad." Everyone can make mistakes. That wasn't what upset me the most. It was the repeated dismissive attitude, lack of professionalism, and feeling that my concerns as a patient were not taken seriously.
