very strange office experience. first visit with whom I thought was an ophthalmologist, though I doubt was even an optometrist. he held his cell phone in one hand and never looked away from it during the entire visit. he only spoke when responding to repeated questions, and responses were one and two-word in length. he behaved as an individual with a severe gambling problem who had his children's college fund on the next game point. what a disrespectful visit, with no sign of quality care. the return visit got stranger, as they would not provide me with my contact lenses prescription unless I bought the contacts from them. they even claimed I need to pay cash for the visit and not use my insurance, even saying insurance does not cover it. this is a lie, as I called my insurance, and my company revealed I have a $200 limit for anything I wanted, be it contacts or some bogus specialty visit like this one. once I told them I spoke with my insurance, the office said, "ok, goodbye" and would not give me my prescription. after 3 days, they legally have to release it to me. the whole thing felt like a scam to upsell me contacts. the only professional there is the guy that answers the phone. everyone else is very weird, disrespectful of clients, lack any quality care, they have openly lied to me, almost at every question, and I feel they aggressively withheld my own medical records in an attempt to charge me extra money. I felt very unsafe there. I do not trust them as medical professionals or as people. I cannot recommend them in good conscience. I will not return. read more

Dr. Phung is great at what he does; He not only answered my million questions and gave me great recommendations to better my eye care, he and his staff treated me like family. I have a small face and it is difficult to get frames that fit well and look good. The staff and the Dr was so patient with me. I loved them so much I sent my kids to see them. I've been coming here for years. I call make an appt with plenty of time since I was not able to get in during the pandemic. I get a confirmation call and I confirm.Now I show up for my appt and I get told " let me see if the Dr can see you?" Are you kidding me. I'm all about being careful, trust me. But if I make an appt and you know I'm coming where does let me see if the Dr will see you. Not acceptable!!! read more

Dr. Phung and the staff here are some of the best around. After being a loyal glasses-wearer for several years, I finally gave in to the pressure of wearing contacts instead. As someone who is very squeamish about anything going near my eyes (even mascara), I was terrified of the idea of using contacts. The staff was very patient with me as I struggled to put on and take off contacts for the first time. Now, all I wear are my contacts and I'm so thankful to Dr. Phung since I do not have to rely on just my glasses anymore. Every time I've been here, everyone's been exceptionally nice and helpful. Don't hesitate to stop by or call in. The office is open Mon-Sat, but it's best to make an appointment since Saturdays can be especially busy if you just walk-in. The staff speaks English, Spanish, and Vietnamese. And there's plenty of parking in the plaza that the office is located in. read more

The receptionists are so sweet and helpful , they full on tell you the truth about how the glasses fit your face and which ones suit you better! They're attentive , will quickly help you with opening the cases in which the glasses are held in for a closer view , once they see you looking at a pair. Great as always - Dr. Phung is by far the most knowledgeable optometrist I've had the pleasure of visiting. Very thorough, methodic, and great with kids. Not to mention the value you get, and the lenses! Hubby got his Ted Baker glasses here and it looks extremely good on him - the metallic dark green/grey rims is smokin', and very durable too! Our baby tugs on it constantly (she's now over 1 yo), so imagine a mini version of hercules playing with the frames, and it's now been almost over a year! So quality and bang for your buck! If your kid needs glasses, you should also go to him - we ran into him helping a kid once and we know where we'll be taking our daughter once she comes of age. The front desk ladies are very friendly too, so you can feel at ease when approaching them - they'll take care of ya. Did I mention ample parking, easy to find location, and very convenient? The doctor and the staff are all really nice and very helpful. Setting up an appointment was really easy. They checked my insurance fast and got everything ready for me quickly. They schedule pretty late appointments too....I had mine on Mon at 5:30pm, which was great with my work schedule. I know they're open on Sat too. My contact lens exam was pretty quick. He didn't dilate my eyes, but he does use what I believe is the 72mm diopter lens to exam my retina. That's good enough for me. Even though he was quick, he was thorough and answered all my questions. He won't rush you out. He gave me set of trial lenses to try out. The trials worked out great and all I had to do was call and order my boxes of contacts over the phone. Super easy. The contact lens exam was still kinda expensive even after my insurance. I paid $85! But maybe its my insurance that kinda sucks and not his prices. Oh well. I ordered Acuve Oasis and they spherical Rx was $35/box and astigmatism boxes were $50! Kinda expensive again and can probably find them elsewhere cheaper. But I still order b/c I had a $130 allowance towards contacts. So yea...... Its pricey to be blind....ugh! What are u ganna do.... He spend a lot of time with me when I was having a blind spot issue and even wrote me a referral so I could go to Kaiser and have it looked further into- I really appreciated his time and his honesty. Let me just start off by saying I've been to a few optometrist and Spex has been by far the best all around. The staff here is amazing! Very patient and informative. I have been a patient at Spex for 3 years and I highly recommend that you come to Spex you won't regret it. I love that they have a huge selection of sunglasses and prescription glasses. One thing I did noticed that is different from the many of the other places I've gone to is their large selection of non-name brand affordable glasses. Its frustrating to go to an Optometry where they pull out only like 5 pairs of ugly glasses that are completely covered by my insurance. That is not the issue here at Spex. I can still get a pair of cute glasses at a very reasonable price. Also, they have FAST service, I went in for an eye exam last year, selected a pair of glasses and they had them ready the next day. My sister and mom went in for their eye exam yesterday and I received a call today saying that both glasses were ready to be picked up. You can't get better service than that! Dr. Phung is easy to talk to which is a great quality in a doctor. He is always willing to answer any questions. I am the type of person that loves to try on all the glasses and take my time. At Spex I never feel rushed the staff always makes sure I am selecting the proper glasses that fit the shape of my face. Making an appointment is always a breeze. Finally had time to take a break and make my way to Spex to get new contacts and a new pair of glasses! + Appointments: Always easy to get and the office is open on Saturdays as well so it is good for those who have work or school M-F. + Staff: The gals and guys at the front desk always greet me with a smile. Recently the nosepiece of my sunglasses I had purchased at Spex fell off (because I am a spazzy klutz) and the girls were so sweet to help replace them for me. + Glasses: I love the selection of contacts and glasses at Spex. I finally updated my glasses after wearing the same old pair for +10 years. Spex has all of the latest and greatest glasses and I was able to walk away with a pair of Versace frames I love that I could not find at other optometries I had been to. + Sunglasses: All of my sunglasses I have purchased recently have been from Spex and they have a huge variety including Ray Bans, Gucci, and Tom Ford. I called in looking for information about putting a prescription on some Oakley Lenses I have and boy was that a mistake. The receptionist who answered was rude, up until the point I said insurance. I told her that I had my prescription already but she automatically told me it was expired. I had to correct her telling her my prescription was from August 2015 and its good for an entire year. From there she started giving me a hard time about bringing in my own set of glasses. Telling me if there used it would be hard to put a new prescription. Which is unheard of but okay. As soon as I got off the phone I called my insurance company and sure enough there was a hold on my account from going any where else. Spex had already opened a file stating I was going to use my services there. Luckily I was able to cancel through my insurance company and release the hold. Ill just stay with costco....
