Dr. Rice was very thorough, reassuring and overall just a really good doctor that is very knowledgeable but at the same time is understanding of the patient's concerns and answers all your questions with respect which I really appreciated. Glad I found his office. The whole office was very friendly, 10/10 recommend : ) read more

Dr Rice is awesome! Great sense of humor, knows what he's doing and doesn't make you wait. I knew immediately on my first visit several years ago that I'd picked the right eye doctor. I came to him originally with red stinging eyes and he realized right away that I needed a special kind of contacts... my previous eye doctor tried several kinds but I still had the redness and stinging. Dr. Rice nailed it and got me back to normal on the first try. SO HAPPY! Since my initial visit, I've been back routinely and he's still the same great doctor with the same great laid-back attitude. When ordering contacts or glasses, the turn-around time is within a week. I would recommend him in a heart beat to anyone that asks. The guy that helps you with your glasses is also very helpful and gives you great insight and opinion on what you need and what works with your face and the current styles. Ladies at the front desk are incredibly nice, very welcoming and friendly. GO SEE HIM IF YOU NEED YOUR EYES CHECKED!!!! You'll love it there. Cheers to you Dr. Rice! read more

My family and I needed in new optometrist since we moved and our other one was too far away. One of our friends recommended that we go see Dr. Rice. We are so happy with our experience. He is so kind and friendly, and he was so good with our 10 year-old son. He also knew how to talk with our 19 year-old daughter And his whole staff was just warm and welcoming. We're so happy that we have an amazing optometrist close to us. I actually don't wanna recommend him to you because he'll get even more popular, but I don't want to be selfish either. So please go see Dr. Rice. He's pretty amazing. read more

As a dentist, I have to have sharp and detailed eyesight. We just had our annual eye exams last week and had another great visit. For the last 30 years, my wife and I have been seeing Dr. Rice for our eye exams and glasses, including my special safety glasses with Rx lenses for dentistry. Gus is especially helpful to be sure our eyeware give sharp vision, are fitted well, and look great. Dr. Derek has the latest high tech testing to look into the eye and back of the eye capturing photos and measuring for problems. Thanks to the friendly office Team and Dr. Derek we will continue for years to come. read more

We've been coming here for years. Friendly staff, extremely helpful and super patient, lol! It took me FOREVER to find glasses that I was happy with (that's because I'm super picky and I have a round face, lol) anyway, they did not rush me and I found the perfect pair! The exams went well. The doctors there make it a point to make sure you are comfortable and always have us laughing! read more

I LOVE going to get my eyes checked. I was never one who was a fan of the optometrists, dilated eyes, reading weird letters...not really my thing. Until my mother referred me to Dr Rice (and his former partner, Dr. Rosenberg). It's a small little place right off Whitter Blvd and has a very friendly and clean without being sterile. They only get 4 stars because, though they have a decent selection of styles, it always takes me a while to find something I like...however, I've never left unhappy. The best part of the whole experience are the doctors. Not only are they super professional, but they are charming, funny guys who are all about making everyone feel comfortable. I just starting seeing Dr. Rice because Dr. Rosenburg has retired. I am happy to report that Dr. Rice is just as great as his partner...caring, funny and knowledgeable. read more

Not what it seems! They are very friendly, with big smiles... however, if you look Beyond the hypocrisy, you will see that the smiles are not genuinely for you but more so because how they're going to rip you off! How you may ask. Well, When You come in with your insurance company coverage that states they cover X amount for frames, and when you get there and show then the frames you liked this office has tripled the amount so at the end of the day they are making more if you have insurance then if you just got the frame online or some other retailer. The amount they charge is ridiculously high. The sad part is that you the public continue to pay. Don't be bamboozled by this office pretending to give you a great deal, hell if you're going to pay more for a smile then we should all be smiling to everybody, the truth of the matter is the more you continue to pay them these ridiculously high prices the higher they are going to continue to get. By the time it was all set and done they wanted roughly $450 for frames and progressive lenses. I got the same deal for half that price! Yes it is premium lenses Varilux and anti glare Cruzal. Don't be fooled! They tell you what you want to hear with sweet words. You and I work hard for our money to just give it away to some sweet talks with a smile! read more

I am a new customer to this office. Had a wonderful experience. I was impressed in every aspect of this business. Everyone was professional and friendly. The doctor explained things to me very clearly and he was very nice. The office and equipment were all very clean. I would highly recommend this practice. read more

Wow, Great follow up with Dr Rice. My follow up exam to redesign the optics in my safety glasses and magnification loupes was awesome. The master optician, Galoust Baghdassarian, is personally grinding the lenses to fit not just my visual prescription but also the optical requirements of my loupes. Very impressed by their services. I have Dr. Vazagov as my doctor and she is awesome! She made me feel right at home and was very patient with my questions I had. The visit didn't feel rushed and when selecting a frame you didn't feel pushed to make a decision. This place has a vast selection of frames, your sure to find something that works for you. All the model cars inside definitely is a nice touch, especially if you don't want to sit around, you can just walk around and look at all the model cars. Great staff, great service! The only gripe I have about this place would have to be the amount of time it takes to get your glasses once ordered. My glasses took almost 2 weeks to come in, then were too powerful and had to be sent back only to wait another two weeks. It's very frustrating especially when other optometry places can have them made and delivered in days. read more

I did not get my eyes checked here but will consider it next year (free at Kaiser). I found Dr. Rice's office while looking for sports glasses that could accommodate my very strong prescription and changing light conditions. Michelle Welch was very patient and extremely knowledgeable. She helped me navigate my options and ensure I received the maximum benefit from insurance. Highly recommend! read more

A+ service. Quick but thorough. Great selection and brands of frames to choose from. Did not feel any pressure or rushed when selecting frames. No upsell on services or unnecessaries. Very happy with everything and will recommend to family and friends for sure. I highly recommend. :) read more

I was told after an exam that I had developing cataracts but glasses world help. $1,000.00 later with insurance it was zero help. Returned 6 months later and was told you need cataract surgery. Too bad too sad out 1 K! Would not recommend. read more

Been seeing Dr Rice for the last 2 years. A bit of a drive for me, but worth it. First, the office is clean. The staff is very friendly and professional. Dr. Rice is super friendly, very thorough with his examination and knowledgeable. Trust is a big thing for me and I feel like I can trust his work. I would highly recommend Dr. Rice, even if it's a bit of a drive. read more

I have found my new eye doctor office. After years of going to different eye doctors, Dr. Rice's office has been the best experience thus far. The office is very welcoming, staff was nice, lots of frames to choose from, and I can go on. Dr. Rice was very professional and explained/answered in detail whatever questions I had. I will definitely be coming back for my yearly eye exams. read more

Dr. Rice is the greatest. My family of 4 are all patients of his, and we all love him! We started going to him when we moved to the area back in 2002, and as friends of mine have moved to the area, I've always recommended Dr. Rice to them as well. He is incredibly knowledgeable and attentive - and he is mild mannered and FUNNY. Any doctor who has an immediate calming effect is worth gold to me. His office staff is friendly and accommodating as well. I like that they have later office hours once a week, and are open on Saturdays. That helps with scheduling and picking up glasses or contacts. Appointments can be a little hard to schedule but I'm sure that's because a lot of people try to work around school and work hours. There is another doctor that seems to have better availability, but I have never made an appt with her so not sure how great she is (a friend of mine saw her when he couldn't get in to Dr. Rice and he really liked her.) Sometimes Dr. Rice is running behind, and there have been times we have waited more than 20 minutes for an appt to start. If 3 of us are scheduled, that means we walk out an hour behind. BUT - the attention and service you get are worth every minute of the wait. Their optician works hard to get you the best pricing with what you choose and your insurance coverage. Great, great, great place for eye care!! read more

I have been coming here for years and Dr. Rice never disappoints. Everyone is very helpful and friendly and I always get a discount since I'm a cash patient. I will continue to give Dr. Rice my business as long as he is in practice. read more

I always look forward to going to the eye doctor because everyone is so nice and helpful (been coming here for over 10 years, and my parents even longer). Never had to wait more than 10 min (if at all) for my appointment, and I never feel overwhelmed or nervous because everything is explained very well. If I am picking out new frames, I get feedback on how they look/fit my face, because sometimes it is hard to tell on yourself! I hope I never have to move because I don't think I would like anyone as much as Dr. Rice and the staff here! read more

Great place for eye exams and eyewear. Great customer service and amazing staff and doctors.

I love Dr. Rice! He is funny, kind, and patient. I have gone here for a few years and recently took my son. He's great with adults and kids alike. He explains the tests given and also goes over your vision and any changes with you. The office staff is also very nice. I do wish that they had a bigger variety of designer frames, but the service will keep me coming back regardless. read more

You guys are truly amazing. Everyone there is great. However, Dr. Rice, is a fantastic doctor. I've been coming here for about 4 years. As long as Dr. Rice is here I'm not going anywhere else. He is really thorough and answers any and all questions. He is professional but still ensures that his patients have clear understanding of everything he does or recommends. I won't take my family anywhere else. read more

This is the best eye clinic around. Dr. Rice and Dr. Vassagov are both great and extremely professional. They both take the time during the examination and always answer any questions. Dr. Rice and his staff are truly amazing and very friendly. He is very attentive and truly cares about you, not just as his patient. He's kind and helpful and gives good advice and information throughout the visit. His staff is helpful in making glass recommendations and other helpful things for eye care all the way around. I don't think you'll be disappointed with the more personal touch and small office feel where you are not a 'number'. read more

Came here for the first time and I was worried because I had a change in insurance and some of who take this insurance did not have great reviews and majority where in department stores. I reviewed each and every one and I saw people where very pleased with them. After going to my appointment, I was so pleased with how kind the ladies in the front counter where and very helpful. I felt so welcomed...even starting from making an appointment with them. The doctors are very kind, explained everything and provided so many options. I am so pleased with my new eye doctors and am glad I don't have to worry about having a shady place. I highly recommend anyone to go there. They are so welcoming, kind, and inviting location. read more

My first Yelp review ever, but I had to! I initially called another optometrist in Whittier where the receptionist hung up on me. YES! She hung up on me after asking me to give my SS# over the phone. I'm not sure about you, but I don't feel comfortable giving that information over the phone. Anyway, about Dr. Rice's office and staff. After I cancelled my appointment with the other office (just didn't get a good impression from the receptionists' attitude) I found Dr. Rice's office through my insurance. The receptionist answered my call with the BEST attitude and professionalism ever. They were even able to schedule me for that same day. I showed up to my appointment and everything went smoothly. Filled out the paperwork, walked around the office viewing their frames, saw Dr. Rice (who is extremely well-mannered, funny, and thorough in his exam), browsed the frames some more before paying my co-pay and leaving. I put a pair of frames on hold with the hopes of returning to purchase them at another date and time. The selection of frames is large and there is another assistant specifically there to help you choose frames that best suit your needs and preferences. BONUS: the office is decked out with classic car models and posters. I brought my boyfriend with me who is into classics so I was happy that he had something to browse while I was having my exam done. read more

Dr. Rice and his staff are excellent! My entire family are very happy with Dr. Rice and Dr. Vazagoz. We wouldn't go anywhere else ;)

I have been going to this office for over 20 years. It used to belong to Dr. Rosenberg. I was a shy child with several eye issues and always felt welcomed and made special. And now, I still look forward to my eye care visits with Dr. Rice. He's so understanding, empathetic, and takes great care in explaining and answering all of my questions and concerns. I have never felt rushed and have never had issue with obtaining or rescheduling an appointment. His office even fit a brief well-baby eye visit for my daughter at the end of my appointment. I had off-handedly mentioned I was concerned she might've inherited my eye problems. To know her eyes are developing just fine has put my mind at ease immensely. Dr Rice is AWESOME ! !!! Made appointment with him for the first time after having a horrible experience with another optometrist at Kasier. Dr Rice was extremely thorough and explained everything. I had to have HARD contacts lenses made , my first time wearing contacts lenses annnd hard ones at that! !!!! I was totally happy with them .. It seriously took me about 3weeks to get use to them. .. something I didn't think would happen after reading information about hard contacts lenses. .. Five stars for Dr Rice .. read more

Definitely recommend! read more

The office staff was nice and the office was clean, but it concerned that the doctor pulled down his mask the first chance he got and kept if off the entire exam and touched his face often. I know the office is vaccinated but made me uncomfortable. He also asked me to.pull down my mask to avoid fogging up the lenses. I'm.vaccinated but was the person before me? Nice doctor, thorough exam, and wouldn't have had an issue but for the lax mask wearing because I'm not yet comfortable taking my mask off indoors. read more
