She met with Dr. Nakabayashi who was really nice along with all the staff there as well. It's a fairly good sized office with a warm setup and couches to sit on while you wait. They have a giant selection of name brand glasses to select from at reasonable prices. My VSP insurance covered most of the expenses which was great. I think they have a restroom inside and there's plenty of parking out front or on the block. Lucy! She is excellent at making the client feel comfortable and is attentive to your needs. I broke my glasses and was in a panic. Lucy greeted me and without looking at my chart, said "I got you". She confirmed my glasses were under warranty and had my frames in stock. She had me out of the office in 10 minutes. I walked out with a new pair of frames and I felt amazing and relieved that I had no out of pocket expenses and that I didn't compromise my sight. I have been going to Greenleaf Optometry for several years and have been a very satisfied patient. I was a bit worried when Dr. Kato resigned, concerned I wouldn't feel as confident with his replacement Dr. Cizmar. I can honestly say my concerns were completely unfounded and I have been very happy with the care I've received from Dr. Cizmar. So much so, that this month I brought my 96-year-old Mom there as she recently moved to Whittier and needed a new Optometrist. I can't say enough about the wonderful quality of care she received and how patient and kind they were with her. Some of the eye test equipment was new to her, and she left feeling like she had the best eye care she's ever received. The level of care with the Dr and her assistant alone was above and beyond. Then came the part that's usually the hardest to do - choosing new glasses. My Mom needed both prescription eyeglasses and sunglasses so I was dreading what I thought would be the usual long drawn out process. I can't tell you how many times we've gone to those large eyeglass stores, ended up with a tray full of 50 pairs of glasses, no help from staff making the selection and almost always leaving with glasses we really weren't satisfied with. Here they have a nice selection of frames to choose from. Everything from reasonably priced on trend options to all the name brand designer frames you would ever want. They also have an extremely knowledgeable staff member, Lucy, we dubbed the eyeglass guru. Because of her years of experience, she could look at the frame and know before wasting the time even trying them on if they would be the right fit for your face or complexion and help find what would be the better option. I can't tell you how much help she was and like the other staff, incredibly patient and helpful. Not once during our time there did we ever feel rushed and for the first time in many years my Mom left thrilled with the wonderful care she received and the 2 beautiful new pairs of glasses she got. I had an appointment a couple of weeks ago with Catherine Cizmar, O.D. The staff was friendly and helpful, I didn't have to wait and was taken right in, had a couple of tests I've never had before like one who took a picture of my eye (like an eye mri). The doctor came in and made me feel at ease, explained thoroughly and was very helpful and kind when answering my questions. My insurance covered most of my visit and glasses. When it came time to choose a new pair of specs they were happy to help me decide and look for a style I was comfortable with and very patient because I was so indecisive. I came today to pick up my new glasses and I'm beyond happy with them, I even made an appointment for the hubby for a visit. Thankfully they had Saturday appointments to accommodate his work schedule. They office is clean and they follow sanitizing guidelines. This was the worst medical experience of my life. I feel so traumatized by having gone to this office, I now have issues with all optometry offices. It seems like a circus there. It seems no one knows what is going on; there is no organization of service or appointments, just annoying "texts". The phone is constantly ringing and no one answers it. When I needed it, they could not produce medical records or prescriptions when requested by me (the patient) directly, and in person. They were unable to produce them when needed. They never finalized any service and never coordinated any treatment with me. I did not feel I received quality (or any) treatment there. They required me instead to keep returning for appointments. It was so sad to see them fail to meet my patient needs. It is just too difficult to see the doctor in a timely manner, and definitely not worth the trauma I had to endure for appointments that produced no results. I feel so scammed; I felt like it was too incompetent to be accidental. The absolute worst part is they refused to schedule return appointments; making me (the patient) go home and then begin the process of scheduling the appointment all over again. WTF? This SIGNIFICANTLY prolongs the process for literally no reason. It also puts all the work on the patient; no one in the office is monitoring appointments, needed appointments, returning patients (so sad to see that happen), or even expiring prescriptions. It's like running a bad office on purpose. What a nightmare. I still feel haunted by them. read more

I've had crappy vision ever since I've been playing Nintendo games in the eighties. I've been to a lot of optometrists and not all my experiences with them have been positive. At other places, I've had experiences where I felt like I was being rushed, I've had experiences where I couldn't get clear answers for basic questions, and I've been given recommended ugly glasses without getting honest input from opticians. (When your vision sucks and you try on frames with glass lenses, you can't really see what you're putting on!). What I appreciated about this clinic is that it excels at every step of patient care. I really enjoyed visiting Dr. Kato because he took the time to educate me about my questions. You could tell when someone is genuine and I felt like Dr. Kato was attentive and helpful and that merits a good review. The front office was great and their opticians are pretty skilled. They also have lots of equipment that you won't see at your local lens crafters. I also appreciated that the staff took the time to help me find glasses that would look great for my face shape. That's important as the glasses are what stick around with you for long after your appointment. There are so many optometrists out there that it's impossible to know which ones are the good ones. The good thing about vision care is that we can choose our optometrists. These guys do accept VSP if that's a consideration. I definitely recommend Dr Kato and his staff. read more

I was very unhappy that I was not told ahead of time that I was going to have to pay $95.00 for a contact lens fitting. I didn't expect this charge since I've never had to pay anything that high at my previous optometrist. If I would have known about this charge, I would have went to my previous optometrist. The only reason I switched offices is because I moved. Also when I called last Friday regarding a torn contact lens that Is only two weeks old, I was told that I would get a call back which I never did. I called today to follow up and the lady who answered forgot about me and I was left on hold for over 7 minutes. When someone finally picked up my call, she told me I'd have to pay $125 out of pocket for the torn contact. Last year I had a torn contact and it was replaced at no charge at my previous optometrist. I was also given a back up pair of contacts at no charge. I will definitely not be coming back here next year. I would rather drive the further distance to my previous optometrist Dr. Vansuch in Orange where they don't charge me so much. read more
