It's harder than you'd think to find someone who repairs and maintains electronic devices, much less someone really good. This business is a gem! Ned was helpful from the moment he picked up the phone. He knew exactly what model I had and that there are no replacement parts...but he said take it by for a look. I have an old Bose Wave, the larger one with the add on to play multiple CD's. Yes, I know CD's are old tech but it's got great sound in my living room. The CD player in the main device died. Within minutes, Ned was able to determine that the laser had worn out and no parts are available. But...I have the add-on device to play multiple CD's and Ned was able to show me that still works! I have been collecting vintage audio gear for 2 decades, and Ned provided the best and quickest service I have ever received for a complicated electronics repair. My Yamaha PF-1000 turntable was acting up, randomly turning on, refusing to turn off, etc. After having had mixed experiences with other shops, I decided to try this place, primarily due to location and good reviews. It turned out there was an issue with one of the circuit boards, (this being a top of the line 1980s unit, when the Japanese manufactureres were trying to outdo each other with mechanical and electronic complexity). Dealing with circuit boards is a big pain and some places won't even touch them, unless there's another plug and play board available, but Ned had my unit up and running by the end of the week. Top notch and my new go-to. Highly recommended. read more

Easy 5 stars. My brother is turning 30 years old next week and I found an old VHS tape of him in the hospital on the day he was born. I wanted to convert it to a digital file/DVD to give to him as a birthday present and preserve this priceless memory. I brought it to a place that does this service but was told that the VHS tape was not playing because the spool inside was not turning and the ribbon would not catch right. They told me to ship somewhere out of state that would fix it, which meant it wouldn't have been ready for my brother's birthday. So I looked on yelp for "VHS Repair," found Joseph E and gave them a call and said they would be happy to fix it. I dropped it off at 7am right as they opened and was greeted by Ned, a very friendly guy. He told me he could swap the tape out and put it in a new body and it would work just fine. By noon, I got a call back from Ned telling me he had finished and got the tape to play. He put it in the body of an old Mary Poppins VHS :) When I went to pick it up, he played me the video to show me it was working and he gave me a very fair and affordable price for the service. Was then able to take it to get digitized in time for my brother's birthday. This truly meant alot to me, a gift for my brother and my family. Super thrilled that I found this gem of a place in the LA area and even better that Ned was so kind. Again, an easy 5 stars. Quick, reliable, and fair price. The shop may look kind of dodgy but it should be judged by the quality and value of the repair work. In my case the $65- diagnosis went towards the actual repair and it was done within a day.
